Ch 6 A Special Package

It was the second day in the human world. The Alpha had not planned on being here this long. He had hoped to be here only a few hours. If the store was not open today, he would have to return home without what he had came for. If he stayed any longer then his Beta would become concerned. That would mean his pack would search for him. That would be the last thing that he needed. If they did not scent his presence in the werewolf world, they could possibly seek the help of the wolf council to find him. His pack was one of the royal packs. The council always took great interest in the wellbeing of everyone in it. Unlike his pack, the wolf council was powerful enough to scent into the human world. His pack did not possess that power. If a member of the council found him, it would be enough for the wolf council to launch an investigation. That would be the worst possible outcome. Few wolves were investigated by the council and not found guilty. When they were found guilty then it always ended with that wolf and usually his mate being beheaded. 

He knew that he had to hurry, time was against him. He wished that he could shift to his wolf and grab his packages. He could be home in mere moments. Since he was around humans, he had to load a truck and drive for several miles. Then he would ditch the truck, shift to his wolf and get home before anyone noticed his absence. "Can I help you?" A noticeably bored teenager asked. "There should be some packages addressed to 'Paul Spane.'" He said. He watched as the teenager stretched and slowly get up and walked to the back. Ten minutes later, he returned with a clipboard. "Sign here." He told the Alpha. Paul signed as his annoyance increased. He had no time for a lazy teenager.

In no hurry, the boy lazily picked up smallest of the small packages. Paul looked at his watch. He only had a little time. In two steps, he reached the boy and shoved the boy aside, "Move! I don't have time for this shit!" The boy hit the floor with a thud. "What the fuck dude?" The red faced boy said to Paul. Paul stacked all the boxes together. He glanced at the boy that had went from a beet red to a ghostly white. "What the hell. Those packages must weigh over five hundred pounds!"  He was staring at Paul with fear. "Are you on steroids or are you some sort of demon? "The boy's shaky voice asked Paul. "Depends on who you ask." Paul answered his question dryly, barely hearing what the young boy had said. His attention was on opening the packages. Everything looked authentic enough. There was only one sure way to test it. A way that he was not looking forward to.

 He was so distracted by getting something so rare and what it could mean to his pack that he had forgotten that the human boy was there.  He could only think of the look on the Sullivan's face when nothing that they tried to do would succeed against his pack.

His hatred for the Sullivans and all that they had done to his family made his blood boil. All the land that they had stolen fueled his desire to authenticate the items in the packages. He rolled up his sleeve and braced himself. He never had experienced this before, but was told that he would immediately know if it was real. He stuck his arm in to the elbow. Immediately huge blisters formed on his arms and a billow of smoke came up   He let out a huge roar that shook the entire shop. In that moment he lost complete control.

 His pupils went from round to slanted. His teeth began to elongate to fangs. His wolf was also injured. He jerked his hand back. "FUCK!!" He roared out again. The pain was unlike anything he had ever experienced. He took long deep breaths until his body began to calm. He looked at his arm and it was quickly healing. That's when he remembered the young human boy. "Dammit!" Paul said, He cursed himself for being so careless.

 Paul turned to face the boy. It was obvious the boy was terrified and had seen way too much. He was pale and had wet his pants. His mouth was moving but nothing was coming out.

 "Are you okay boy?" He asked the young shopkeeper. For a split second, he thought of killing the boy. He chased that thought away immediately. He was dangerous, but he never harmed the helpless. This young boy was definitely helpless. He would not be a match for the weakest of werewolves.

 He decided that convincing him that he had not seen what he had seen was best. "Wh-Wh-What are you?" The boy asked with a shaky voice. Paul looked at him with a raised brow. "Your arm was smoking and you roared like a lion." The boy choked out. Paul held his newly healed arm out to him, "Where did you see the smoke coming from." Paul asked with a feigned confused look. He looked down at the boys pants, "Son, did you stand there and piss on yourself?" He asked the boy. He looked down at the wet spot in the front of his pants and turned red. "I-I-I saw smoke in the box too." The boy was still trying to make sense of what he had seen. Paul raised his brow, "I had a cigar in my hand and it dropped in the box. Boy, have you been smoking things you should not?" He said in a calming tone. The young boy averted his eyes. "Look, I won't mention to anyone what happened here." Paul assured the boy. He took out several hundred dollars and gave it to the boy. "If you have gotten to the point you are hallucinating, you need to get some help." Paul said.
