ROSE
Deamian was awfully quiet as we rode at the back of his father's car.
Guess the plan of me partaking in the ritual and thereafter visiting Stella the witch was completely off the table now. I'd never felt so much tension in one space. Deamian was seething, his dad just seemed confused and nervous. Guess Deamian hated his dad too. What concerned me the most was the fact that Deamian’s dad did not at all look like the type of person to want to kill the mother of his own child. His aura seemed too calm and… good. I knew killers, and this man, was not one. I turned towards Deamian and saw the anger all across his face.
Deamian, you're quiet, I said in my mind, hoping he'd be listening to my thoughts.
I don't trust him
Why? Isn't he your dad?
ROSEHer name was Scarlett, Scarlett Bell.It seemed like a nice enough name, right? Wrong. Her name sent shivers along my spine and evoked a strong nauseating feeling in my stomach. I didn't like her. No, not one bit, and I could tell, by the pure anger raging off of her body, that she did not like me at all either. She sat across from me in a huge room filled with nothing but a large table, chairs, a screen projector, and rows of shelves stacked with documentation folders. The meeting room, I concluded."So, she's my replacement huh?" She seethed while staring at me.Deamian growled at her and grabbed my hand on instinct. I pulled it away, revolted at the thought of him thinking I was weak enough to need him to stand up for me. I had a mouth for a reason. Deamian shot me an apologetic smile, probably reading my thoughts.
ROSEDeamian decided to try to make it all up to me by cooking. I wasn't complaining, Deamian's cooking was divine. What I was more interested in were the answers he promised to give me. The answers I so desperately craved."And here we go." He said setting a plate of warm beef lasagne, salad, and slices of golden, glazed butternut before me.He sat down too and began eating his food hungrily. I followed suit."My dad..." He began, "My dad left my mom many years back. Not because they didn't love each other, but because my dad was a guardian of the werewolf world, and that included my mom and the flower. For her safety and for mine, my dad had to leave us behind and set up an organisation dedicated to protecting the magic that is the werewolf realm. I guess I always hated him for it. I hated him for choosing his duty over his family... over me. He obeyed my mom, even
ROSE"Your majesty..." That voice hissed softly in my eardrums, awakening me from my deep slumber. As my eyes fluttered open, I found myself in a place I'd been to before. The sanctuary. Everything seemed perfectly in place. And for a second confusion struck."I see he's marked you?" I turned to the source of the voice. She stood with white hair and a soft smile. There was something different about her though. She glowed with a ghost like aura. But it wasn't menacing and malevolent. Instead, it was warm and radiant. Soft and pure."Your highness!" I bowed to the moon goddess... Deamian's mom.She gave a soft giggle, "No need for that. I should be calling you 'your majesty'" she said. She then moved closer to me. She wasn't walking but floating slightly.Eventually she was right in front of me.
ROSESo, I made Deamian run back home and fetch me my clothes because I really did not want to be parading around his dad's pack grounds naked. He answered my demand first by questioning why he couldn't see me naked. "we're mates after all!" Was what he said. He said this, however after the fact that he claimed to want to mate me right there and then because of said nudity. So, excuse me if I didn't trust his self-control. Not that I had a problem with it, it's just... I was already impure enough. Imagine how excruciating the ritual would be if I'd been mated. Idiot. And that leads me to our current situation: an argument, as always..."... You had a responsibility to tell me about being impure for the ritual!" I yelled as we walked. Deamian was finally in his human form, parading in his boxers because my mate ladies and gentlemen was a mouth-watering idiot who enjoyed not having clothes on.
ROSE"I hate you."That's how Scarlett chose to greet me. And it was a greeting to which I replied:"I don't care. If you could concentrate on things which don't consist of hate and idiocy, I think you'd find life to be pleasant. Because currently there's a stick far up your ass which is giving you this really bit-""I think she has the point Rose." Deamian shook his head.Does she though? Because for the past two days she's just been hammering on how much she hates me. And to top it all off, she had to watch me twice a day. She had to accompany from my home to Mr Grimmwolf's office because Deamian got up early to continue learning the proper procedures of the ritual. Apparently, he was a big idiot and was going to attempt the ritual like an idiot if Grimmwolf hadn't found us. This whole place was just full of incompetent fools. Honestly, I mi
ROSEThe water was cool against my bare skin making my hairs stand on end. I was certain that hypothermia would kick in soon.Mr Grimmwolf was right. No one stared at me or made me feel uncomfortable here. No one at all. Well Deamian was practically staring but that was to be expected.Deamian walked up to me, causing ripples within the water. He smiled and gave me a look which made me less nervous about this. I knew who'd be after me tonight. Deamian had told me a few days ago. Apparently, it was the rogue group who attacked my pack the night I met Ryker. The reason Deamian/Ryker had an idea about the pack and their movements was because at that time, he had been pretending to be Ryker, a new addition to their family. The reason he suspected his father, was because he had heard them talking about his pack. But clearly, he misunderstood."Ready?" He asked as he held t
ROSEAir... I needed air. That was the only thought ringing through my mind as I awoke. My throat was dry, and my ears rang. Was I supposed to feel this way after the memory ceremony? Like I'd been hit by a truck and then smashed continuously by the hulk?I slowly moved my head around and my breath hitched. There was no one here. Not a single soul in the silent, dark place."Hello?" I called out. I then began to hear violent whispers in my ear. I couldn't quite decipher what they were saying."All hail her majesty, Rose, the new Goddess." they screamed in my ears making me cover them with my shaking fingers. Then silence and darkness.Slowly, I began to hear distorted yells and my eyes began to flutter open."…whatever it takes, don't let them near her!" ROSEAdamson glared at me. His wolf form was intimidating yes, almost enough to intimidate me. To have me cowering, shaking. He had grown more powerful from the last time I’d seen him. Why was he here… was he in charge?"I see now that I shouldn't have let you live. No, not at all my thorny Rose." he said. That name, that name shot chills through my spine and almost had me absolutely in a state of panic. But I couldn't back down. Despite the flashes of memories of this monster torturing me, laughing at my screams, and humiliating me." What do you want, Adamson?" I asked. I noticed now how his pack had changed thanks to my killings years back. Now his pack was filled with rogues of different rankings, and humans. They were even larger than before."wouldn’t you like to know, my pet?" another demeaning name that made me shiver. But I had to stand my
ROSE"Grayson, get off your phone and help your baby sister get the cereal from the cupboard... I'm not joking Gray! Right now!" I yelled as I put the kettle on.Grayson, the young boy I'd rescued nine years ago had grown into a handsome, healthy and very grumpy teenager. I treated him as I did his younger sister, my own biological child and expected him to take the role of alpha... After I transformed him into a werewolf (it was a promise I made to him). I absolutely adored both of my children."Mom, can't she use a ladder to get it down herself." Gray yelled as he took his headphones off.I shook my head at him, grabbed the cereal and handed it to the copper haired girl with piercing blue eyes."Here we go Rachel."She smiled and sat next to her brother, sticking her tongue out and teasing him. I chuckled. Soon Deami
ROSEI was lying on the floor, winded and in shock. What kind of sick and twisted person was she? She must have been a teenager when she'd instructed Adamson to do such a thing... How sick was Scarlett... And how sick was Adamson to obey her. A young girl giving a slightly older boy such an instruction. It was then that I remembered it all. Adamson. He was why I became what I became. He was ruthless when it came to my torture and the deaths of my parents, an older teenage boy. That's what he was back then. A teenager committing acts of terror. And if he was so young and could do such horrible things, what stopped me. When I'd finally escaped, he'd left.It was then that I grew angry. I felt my bones begin to crack and I howled out as fur began to sprout from my skin. I was turning."What?" Scarlett gasped. I guess she forgot about my little unusual ability to transform.
ROSEScarlett stood there in shock. She still couldn't believe it. However, in a matter of minutes her face grew to desperation and she grabbed a nearby rogue."This will have to do!" She said. She cut him, bled him into the ceramic, recited something in ancient tongue and then drank the mixture. It honestly happened so fast that I had no time to react and in a matter of moments, her body began thrashing forward and back, her eyes rolled back, and she fell to the ground. Horrified but still aware of her growing threatening presence I inched closer to her now still body which lay on the ground. Suddenly, her eyes darted open, her hair immediately changing into a dark silver colour and her eyes started becoming a reddish colour. This didn't feel right. What did she do to herself? She stood up so quickly I barely saw her, and then smiled. What the hell."See I may not be
ROSEI didn't know how to feel or how to act. By this time, Deamian had explained everything to me and I was in a state of utter shock. Apparently, Scarlett was taking her revenge on Deamian because she expected to become the next and final moon goddess since they were in love. Now she had a whole revenge plan calculated and constructed to perfection. She was the one who dragged him out of the place but could not bring me along because they hadn’t had enough time. They needed Deamian's Moon blood seeing as he was half of his mom's species. They also needed me for the moon flower essence which I had absorbed, which meant I walked right into their trap. They needed to do it now, before the essence integrated with my DNA and it became impossible to extract. That meant, they only had today. I wish I'd known. I wish I'd been more aware, less naive and gullible. I wish I were alpha Rose and not Rose, Moon Goddess with actual emotions.
ROSEScarlett and I were quiet as we drove. We both knew that when push came to shove, I'd have to use what little power I had... And that would leave me vulnerable and ready to be caught, just as they wanted. There was no denying that this was a trap, that they knew I would stop at nothing to find Deamian who was currently more important than I was when it came to fulfilling their plans.Soon we passed a sign that read "Nightfall Valley". The infamous public werewolf graveyard. Although it was now old and abandoned, there'd been rumours of ghosts at night haunting the place. That was probably true... But I highly doubted they were ghosts. We passed the entrance and I parked on the pavement, next to a pile of rotting wood. Once we exited the car, I felt it. The lingering feeling of the bond between Deamian and I."He's here!" I said, and then grabbed the rifle and swung it around me. It would
ROSEThe next morning, I woke up to the feeling of a cold and empty bed with nothing but a scribbled note next to me. It read:Would have grabbed you too but your boyfriend gave us quite a struggleImmediately goodebumps formed on my flesh and I began shaking. They had taken Deamian in our sleep. They had taken him, and I had no clue where the hell he was. Immediately I jumped out of bed, following his scent out of the house and towards the centre of the pack grounds, not caring that I was in pyjamas because the place was practically deserted with all the killings that had happened the previous night.Panic ran through me as I reached the end of the pack grounds at the gate and the scent of Deamian just disappeared. I even tried to tap into our mind link, try to enter his mind, but I felt still so weak, like a new-born baby.&
ROSEI never felt so cold before. So cold it felt as though melted ice flowed through my veins."Rose?" that voice. I knew that voice anywhere."Deamian?" I muttered out my eyes were still shut, unable to open."Rest. You overused your magic abilities." he whispered. But I didn't want to rest. I wanted to go after Adamson and stab him multiple times in the neck with a pen. That's what he deserved after all.Slowly I fought the invisible force preventing me from opening my eyes.Eventually, I managed to pry my lids open, hissing as the light poured in.Deamian looked down at me, disappointed that I didn't listen.I can't just rest. Not after Adamson. Not after he tried to take someone important away from me... Again. I mind linked him this he sighed, giving up.
