The two men were quiet. While Rock was lost in his world, he was enjoying his drink. Jason was still thinking about what he had just heard. But then, he was startled when Rock suddenly leaned forward, staring into his eyes."What?" Jason blinked confusedly. "I was recently told that I would remain lonely all my life, which I don't mind, by the way. You're my brother after all, and I know you wouldn't betray me like the others", Rock suddenly paused, thinking a little before speaking again. "I just want to tell you that you're lucky for making the right choice because I wouldn't hesitate to cut you off if you had attempted to make the wrong decision,"Jason swallowed hard. However, he couldn't help but smile when he heard the last part of Rock's words. Nevertheless, his heart still ached for the man who was silently dying in pain and he wished he could do anything to ease his suffering." Of course, I would never betray you for anything. Even though we don't share the same father, y
It was a lovely breezy Friday evening. As usual, Katherine was bored to death. After having her dinner and speaking to her family over the phone, there was nothing else to do. Her mother's health was improving and this brought joy to her heart. However, she still felt uneasy. Something was eating her up, making her feel restless. Placing her phone on the nightstand, she sat still for a while before grabbing a book. Not wanting to look at the ceiling while losing herself in guilt, she decided to read. Perhaps it will help her to get her mind off some things. She slowly lied down on the bed, as she flipped through the pages. Minutes later.... "ahhhh..." Katherine sighed in frustration, biting her lower lip as she dropped the book on the nightstand. She thought it would help her to calm down, but she was wrong. She reached for her phone, and quietly left the room. Plunging down on the couch, she looked toward Hannah's room and pouted. She could already guess that she would be sleepi
The sight in the room had Katherine gasping in shock. "Sir, what are you doing here?" She asked Jason, while her confused gaze remained fixed on her boss, who was apparently sleeping. From the empty bottles on the table, she could guess the man had been drinking and was probably drunk. 'Just how long will you continue to do this?' she wondered inwardly, feeling pity for her boss. It was no longer a secret that Rock and Rose had divorced. Their story was already in the tabloids, everyone guessing the reason why they'd split. They were the envy of other people. Katherine's heart had broken when she'd read an article where Rock was blamed for the cause of the divorce. She couldn't even read the awful article to the end as she had gotten so angry and stopped reading. She knew it was Rose's handiwork. But Rock didn't seem to give a damn about the internet and their fake news, instead, he was busy focusing on his work, not hesitating to drown himself in alcohol at any slightest chance.
Jason looked worried and unsettled as he sat alone in the high end restaurant. It'd been over thirty minutes since he promptly arrived at the restaurant, but there was no sign of the beautiful lady, Lana, whom he'd spent a fortune just to make this date happen. He sighed impatiently, checking his watch for the umpteenth time. He'd gone there with full expectation, but watching each unbearable second pass with no sign of Lana, he was getting worried and agitated. Sighing once again, Jason decided to open the expensive bottle of Italian wine on the table, as he poured some for himself, gulping it down in order to calm his nerves. The fear of the mysterious lady not showing up was becoming a reality. Not that he was worried about the money he had to spend to get her to agree to go on a date with him. He was more concerned about getting the lady to accept him. As for what he had sacrificed, Lana was a beautiful damsel, she deserved every dime he'd invested in this course and he
Katherine hummed in her sleep, as she tried to roll onto her stomach but met an obstacle. Her brows creased, her eyelids twitching before she slowly opened her eyes. It was at that moment she realized she wasn't lying on her not so big but comfy bed. The memories of yesterday's unexpected events began to flood her mind."Aahh..." she gasped, as she hurriedly sat up. It just occurred to her that her boss was supposed to be the one sleeping on the sofa. She slowly tilted her head to the side and saw the man sitting behind his desk, his face serious and concentrated as he stared at his computer screen. It was as if he had never drunk to oblivion last night. She felt her body shudder as she shrunk in feat trying to make herself less visible.'Does it mean he doesn't experience a hangover?' she wondered, remembering the few times she'd had to deal with piercing headaches and other effects after drinking an excess of alcohol. Clearly, she was astonished by the man's calm and immersed in
"Sir, do you need anything?" Katherine asked, as she approached Rock's desk, a smile on her face. He paused the movement of his hand as he looked up at her, a warm smile dangling at the corners of his lips."Yes, Mrs. Whites. Is the report ready?""Aww... someone is now being enthusiastic about his work." Katherine coed. "Tell me, did an angel visit you in your dream last night?" she teased."Don't forget that I'm still your boss. Do you want to lose your job?""No sir, the report is ready and I'm here with it." She stood properly and adjusted herself before dropping the file on the table. The room suddenly fell into silence as the two stared momentarily at each other before bursting into laughter."You really scared me with that cold mean voice of yours" Katherine said, glaring at her boss."Why? Are you afraid of losing the friendly side of your boss, huh?" Rock chuckled, raising an eyebrow at his secretary."Of course, I'm very scared. Please, don't revert to that side ever again.
Rock was silent, brows slightly creased, eyes lazily staring at the lips of each person that had an opinion to give with no interest in them. They were obviously saying something important but he didn't care at the moment. He kept tapping his finger impatiently under the large conference table, hoping the boring meeting could end sooner. There were many voices in the room, laying down their thoughts and ideas about the new business project, but the only voice that seemed to penetrate into his hazy mind, occupying it, was that of his secretary. The picture of her teary innocent blue eyes kept flashing vividly in his head, causing him to lose concentration on the meeting. He didn't know why he was like this or why the thought of his secretary had him on edge and restless. However, he kept blaming himself for making her cry. If only he hadn't let anger take over him. This was his thought as he continued to think of ways to get her to forgive him. Does it really matter? She was his em
Upon getting to his office, Jason slumped on his chair. His mood was sour and gloomy as he stared at the window with a frown on his face. It just occurred to him that he didn't have the right to poke into others' business when he didn't even know how to confront his own problem.Sighing deeply, he picked up a pen on the desk and started playing with it. Coming back to his lonely office made him remember his predicament-he could only think about his secretary, which was obviously strange, by the way. He had his own problems and even though he's been trying to appear to be cool, he's really troubled deep down. He didn't know how to go about it or what to do. It was becoming too much of a headache for him.Dropping the pen on the desk, he stood up angrily as he walked over to the window with his hands in his trousers pockets. He sighed as he looked into the distance. "Isn't it funny that a playboy like me could easily fall so hard.... for my secretary? When did this crazy feeling even
