Alyssa was pushing her panties up and patting her dress down when Richard unlocked the door. It had been almost an hour. Her desk was a mess and she hissed at him to not open the door until she got that fixed. “Help me.” She ordered and he did as told. The President of the US kneeled collecting documents at his mistress’s wish. That’s how much she had over him.
She tidied the desk arranging the computer wires and the keyboard whilst Richard staffed the papers and pens and pencil cases cautiously. He knew Alyssa was an organization freak and he remembered to leave everything as it was. Her shoes had rolled off to the edge of the wooden desk leg and she was quick to slide her feet in there as he flanked the door open. Carl appeared unfazed and he nodded at Alyssa before escorting the President outside of the room. She sank to her seat and checked the time. She would have to meet with the General in an hour. That meant that Richard would already have resigned to the East Wing with his wife to get ready for tonight’s gala. She texted Melissa informing her of the success in getting the General alone. She’d get back to her as soon as their conversation was over. She was thirsty. She headed to towards the kitchen and fished a cold bottle of water from the fridge. The Press Secretary was standing two feet away from her enjoying her coffee with a bagel. They smiled faintly at each other. She was watching the news playing on the TV. Alyssa turned to observe for a bit. A story about the President and his electoral success was covered by national news.“Mr Davis deserved this office. I haven’t seen such passion in a long time.” She said munching on her food.“He did. He did…” Alyssa’s mind trailed off to the night before the final voting day. To the secret meeting of Katherine, Erik, Merlin (chief of staff) and Theodore(campaign manager) to which she was invited. They’d been worried about whether he would win the election. The chances were low with the opposition turning states red. Alyssa knew that the Republicans would win. It was a matter of economic and political instability. She remembered of the phone call that she made to an acquaintance of hers in the CIA.“Everything okay?” The woman asked sipping on her coffee. Alyssa shook her head slamming back to reality and chuckled.“Yes! Sorry I just zoned out.” She opened the water bottle and poured some into a glass before downing it at once. The silver watch dangled on her wrist. She’d never taken it off since he bought it for her. It was their something. No matter what had happened between them she’d always wear it. “Enjoy your coffee.”She walked down the hallway to Merlin’s door. His secretary must have been on her break or at the restroom because she wasn’t at her post. She knocked and entered. His head was buried between his hands and he cursed under his breath. His neck craned at Alyssa’s entrance and he sighed in relief.“Thank God it’s you.” He said and offered her a seat. His face was swollen from the lack of sleep and so were his eyes full with dark circles.“You need rest.” She extended her hand and he grabbed caressing it gently. Merlin was a father like figure to Alyssa. A wise oak. She trusted him and he trusted her. They were the ones in Richard’s team that had gone to the very end for his election. And of course he was one of the three people who knew about her and Richard.“Well the President’s mind is not entirely his. And I have to be there doing twice the homework he has to do so we don’t appear as useless.” Alyssa felt a little bit embarrassed at the first comment even if she knew he never spoke with bad intentions. He was right. She should have stood her ground, should have shown him the door.“Don’t worry Merl. Everything will be okay. But you do need to rest or you will not make until the end of his term. Also, don’t worry about the UN conference I will prepare him for that on the plane.” She reassured him.“You’re a political mastermind. You should be in that Oval room.” He chuckled and she smiled scoffing playfully at him. “Now, tell me about the General issue.”“There are rumors that he has been feeding special forces opium and other drugs to enhance their performance.” Alyssa’s jaw clenched. The past was replayed. America was doing the same mistakes.“Credible sources?” He enquired.“I wouldn’t pursuit otherwise.” She guaranteed and stood up. “It’s time I settle in the Oval Room. Thanks for that by the way.”She exited the office and walked down to the right where the entrance of the Oval Room was. Tom, the other permanent bodyguard of the President was outside. He nodded and opened the door for Alyssa. The energy of the room was majestic. It was the office of the most powerful man in the world. And it radiated this sense of authority. She roamed the room and circled his desk. Pictures of his wife and him, him in the army and him with Merlin, Theodore and her decorated the back. She peaked into the documents laid out on the desk. Afghanistan wrote one folder. She hesitantly picked it up and run through it. They’d retreat the troops. Richard has signed it. Her heart sank a bit.She let it gently back where it was. She needed to be focused and sharp. She couldn’t let this cloud her judgement. At 7.00 PM exactly the General walked in through that door.Alyssa having her back towards him let out a breath and cleared her throat. After he’d taken two steps in, she turned. A middle aged white mediocre man looked at her with a smug superiority that didn’t reflect on his height and presence. He thrived in his authority and power and that showed from the way he carried himself.“General.”“Ms Pope, to what do I owe this pleasure?” He smirked. A woman couldn’t have possibly called him here for something important. Alyssa brushed away the anger his sexist tone hinted and continued.“I think you know General. It couldn’t remain hidden for long. Soldiers speak, especially those under the influence.” She beat around the bush just enough to see him tickle a bit. He approached and took a seat at the couch across from her.“And what do these soldiers say? Because frankly I’m not aware of what you’re implying.” He scoffed dismissively.“There are evidence and testimonies supporting that you have initiated an opium prescription to soldiers of Special Forces to enhance their performance.” Her tone was stern and unyielding and it took the General aback.“I don’t recall initiating anything like that.” He denied. Classic.“Then why did you deadlock the US Attorney’s investigation? If you’re not guilty, then let them know your innocence.” She pushed and she could see glimpses of his composure falling apart.“I just don’t like them messing with my business. There’s nothing for them to find so I killed their investigation.” He went on to parade his act.“General such an accusation would enact a Congressional meeting and your dismissal above all. The story would become a headline in all national news agencies and the legacy you’ve tried so hard to maintain will be ripped away piece by piece by greedy reporters and journalists. Soldiers will talk, even these who didn’t dare to in order to earn publicity and be named national heroes and saviors and patriots. This administration will condemn your name and your family would be put under the microscope. Your twins will be bullied and your wife will be subjected to harassment. And that’s the mild reality.” She said in one breath looking him dead in the eye.“You have nothing to base this accusation on. You have nothing!” He jumped out his seat.“Don’t raise your voice at me. And don’t forget who I am. I served in the army as a marine during my first years, I know people. I have served in the CIA and made friends within the FBI. I could infiltrate your office and you wouldn’t realize who was until you were behind bars wondering who was the mole.” She closed the distance between them. She was taken than him. Not much but taller. “Let the US Attorney’s investigation continue. Find a scapegoat. Someone to blame if you can’t bear the consequences of your own actions. You have 36 hours.”“And if I don’t?” He challenged her and she smiled.“I dare you to call my bluff.” She replied crossing her arms. “Oh and if I find out you’re continuing this menagerie of drugs, there won’t be a warning. Goodnight General.” He headed towards the for without looking back.Alyssa was in great need of a cigarette. She knew Richard would have something even better. She found a packet of Cuban cigars under liquor table. She poured herself some whisky and lit up a cigar. She reached for the TV remote and pushed the ON button.“THE PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY AT THE GALA!” were the headlines and she took every image of them in with a drag of smoke and liquor. It was 7.45 PM. Still pretty early. Once she’d finish smoking she’d get up and get straight home. She lived in an apartment compartment. She’d manage to secure one on the top levels of the building with a stunning view. Not too large. But not too small either. It was perfect for her lonely residence. A mixture of classical and modernist style. And at the back on the library shelf, a picture of them. The only trace of the relationship ever. They never took pictures. It left digital footprints. And devices could be hacked.Alyssa woke up next day in the warmth of her sheets at the sound of her alarm. It was 5AM. She was to get to the White House with the first ones and leave with the last ones. Everyday the House was checked for potential invasions, violations of the security protocols. She jumped into the shower and turned on the water running hot to cleanse the sins off her skin as images of the previous day played in her mind. Richard's face between her legs flashed in her mind and she closed her eyes burying her face under the pouring water. Soon enough she was out of the shower and in her bedroom picking out her outfit. She opened her closet and took out a white suit with a silver satin blouse inside. She put it on and paired it with black and white heels. She pulled her hair back in a high ponytail and hide her eyes behind her glasses. Alyssa carried mostly Tom Hilfiger. She took her favorite black and white bag and fished her phone from the covers. The limousine was waiting outside her house
Preparations were being made for the President’s trip to New York to the UN Headquarters. Alyssa had been buried in work the past week setting officers to their posts, spies to their hidden locations and snipers to every building surrounding the headquarters and the President’s hotel. They would all follow him everywhere along the way. She had organized a team of around 40 people to escort him with her in it too. She’d become his shadow for the following days.Alyssa strutted down the corridors of the White House with her phone on her ear mumbling orders for stakeouts and warehouses in New York as well as the booking of the whole hotel for the President. She’d settle for four out of the ten floors. She ordered already 20 of the escort team to travel there and check the facilities of the hotel, the exits, the rooms, everything.Richard was also closed off in the Oval Room with the Vice President, Chief of staff and head of international relations to prepare him for the conference. The
Alyssa stood on the South Lawn with her suitcase beside her gazing at the morning sky. The breeze caressed her skin and for the first time after long periods of hiding and living in the glimpses of stolen moments with Richard, she felt somewhat free. Her phone in hand, it dinged to tell her that the president was here. The jet had landed there waiting for them. She’d cried so much last night that her eyes had turned dry. She heard him from her office next door smashing glasses before he headed off to the East Wing, to his wife, to his official life. She wore a black right dress with her hair let down to fall on her shoulders. Her heels were replaced with boots so she could move more quickly if the safety of the President was compromised. The leader of the free world arrived and the Secret Service escorted him first to the jet. He looked aloof and that’s when she noticed the limp in his walk. He was drunk. It was 7AM. She followed and boarded shortly after him. Cal taking her suitcase
After they’d settle at the hotel, Alyssa went on to inform the press Secretary of White House of the President’s safe arrival in New York and send a few pictures of him smiling from her journalists connections in the city. She’d leave her suitcase on the side of her bed as she took out her laptop and work papers from her bag and put them on the office in the small living room of the hotel room. They’d put her in a junior suite. She was two floors down from the Presidential suite where Richard was. She looked at the time on her phone. 14 PM. She had time to take a shower and relax a bit before she needed to assemble the rest of the service agents to inform them about their placement in the Leaders of the World dinner the president had to attend. She took off her clothes and sighed in relief taking her bra off. Airplanes drained her. He had drained her. She stepped into the shower and let her anxiety and worries wash off and for the minutes she was under the water, she was free. After
It was currently 18 PM. Alyssa was fixing the last details of her appearance before getting ready to meet the President in the garage of the Plaza where they could leave from the back door so that the wave of journalists does not block their way out. The restaurant had been booked for the night.Alyssa would seat in another table in the back of the restaurant with Cal as her date. The rest of the team would be scattered in the exits and some inside the building. She was guessing that the rest of the leaders’ security staff would occupy different tables too. She wore a black sleeveless silky midi dress with a turtleneck neckline with a pair of silver heels and earrings. She pulled her hair in a low bun and glossed her lips. She grabbed her black Prada purse with her gun, taser and pocket knife inside as well as her badge that read her security clearance in the majority of US institutions should she need it. Of course phone and wallet were included. She put on her beige raincoat and ex
Monday arrived and with it the start of the conference. Leaders of the world met in the headquarters of the UN with their Ambassadors in the United States to discuss the issue of Maritime Security between Greece and Turkey that had caused rising tensions. Richard Davis, the president of the United States was discussing with his Ambassador the outline of his speeches as well as the political and legal stance he would take towards the issue. General Secretary of the UN engaged in some greetings. Alyssa essentially had a relatively free day in the city. With the headquarters being occupied by the majority of leaders, security would be of the highest protection and quality. Despite personal bodyguards, the UN’s agency service would see to the security and safety of the leaders and the building. Hal and the President’s personal team was with him in, seating in the back. “What if they ask me about the borders in terms of Maritime Law and the Economic Exploitation zone?” Richard asked his
Alyssa was free for the evening. Richard would dine with General Grayson in the rooftop restaurant and lounge bar of the hotel which was filled up with secret service. The whole terrace was booked for only the two of them. So, with the President safe and sound, Alyssa had the chance to plan the evening for her own pleasure. She decided to promenade in New York City. She loved the city and had many acquaintances she was willing to bump into tonight. There was a certain bar she visited everytime she was there. The bar was downtown in Manhattan’s beating heart. An old speakeasy back in the days, but now it has transformed into one of the top bar for New York socialites and political elites. Like one herself, Alyssa loved feeling the political pressure and fire whilst networking or connecting dirty pasts with fake smiles and charming faces. As an associate of the CIA, she has discovered things about politicians that could ruin their life let along their career. She slipped on coal grey s
Alyssa had just arrived at the hotel. She was clutching on her purse and looking forward to enjoying a peaceful night in her bed when the elevator doors reopened and General Grayson appeared. She smiled and took a step aside offering him enough space. He was handsome. A military man with an imposing figure and an air of arrogance.“Ms Pope” he spoke breaking the silence. Alyssa exhaled sharply turning to glance at the side of his face. He craned his neck meeting her eyes and smirked. “General” she said back with a faint grin.“Enjoyed New York City?” He asked and Alyssa furrowed her eyebrows. It was obvious that she had been out, but did he know something more? And if he did how had he found out? Who was he?“Yes. The city is beautiful at night. I bet you will miss New York. Washington has a more serious atmosphere General.” She replied to his question as if her mind was not suspecting the worst of the man beside her. “Liam. Please call me Liam.” He leaned towards her and grinned. Al
“Ms Pope can you stay behind?” Richard asked of Alyssa as Merlin exited and she was about to follow in his footsteps. She sighed and turned back into the Oval, eyeing Richard and his posture. He looked sad. But not as devastated as a man on the verge of loosing his wife was.“What can I do for you Mr President?” Alyssa questioned remaining glued in her position across from the couches, four feet away from him. She wouldn’t approach. She knew better than to close the distance between them. “I’m sorry I shouted.” He apologized exhaling sharply. “You’re not just my security director. And Merlin was right to call for you.” Richard ran a hand down his face wiping away the anger. His voice was calm and soothing like always.“It’s okay.” Alyssa reassured as he locked eyes with her. “Richard you need Katherine by your side.” Alyssa added to make sure he realized that he should end the fighting as soon as possible. Richard nodded and rounded his desk taking a seat behind it. “I know. I know.”
Alyssa was never a fan of scheming and manipulating but the city of Washington and its notorious residents made her engage in a world of deception and drama. She remembered the days when she served her country in Iran. When life was simple because there were no dilemmas. You simply had to survive, eat and return. There were no second thoughts because war stripped the reason of society away. As she walked down the corridor of the White House, she was just about to enter Merlin’s office when he heard him whispering on the phone. Alyssa stalled and leaned against the wall trying to overhear the conversation. “I do not believe the President has suspected anything. Alyssa wouldn’t dare tell him. She would protect him until the end…” she held her breath before pulling away and rushing towards Erik’s office. If Merlin was the mole, which circumstantial evidence pointed to then, she’d have to inform the rest so they could plan his demise. Erik’s secretary informed her that he had visited the
The day for the family interview had arrived and Katherine, Richard and little William were getting ready for the press. Katherine looked stunning as always in her royal blue tight fitted Chanel dress and Louboutin heels. She was studying the script with the difficult possible questions that may arise in the interview concerning the family’s private life or her husband’s work as a President and her conflict of interest when it comes to supporting something that goes against his policy. Alyssa was walking down the corridor ready to talk with the Press Secretary and inform them that Danielle, their interviewer and the channel, were ready for the Fist Family. “Alyssa, can I have a minute?” Katherine called her from the room she was sitting in. Papers in hands. Alyssa smiled and dismissed the Press Secretary as she entered the room.“Of course madame. What is it?” Alyssa approached her on the couch. She saw her expression turn into one of concern and doubt. “Is there a question you wish
Alyssa and Richard put their clothes on as they looked at each other with a small smile playing on their lips. Alyssa chuckled shaking her head in disbelief. Richard bit his lower lip to contain the wide smile that formed on his face hearing her chuckle. “You’re enjoying this?!” Alyssa playfully asked him as she put on her heels. One heel on, she bent on her side to put the other on. Richard took a step towards her and wrapped his arm around her waist. “I missed that smile.” He said to her warmly and Alyssa averted her eyes from his.“You’re giving me hope.” Alyssa exhaled sharply running her hands through her hair. “That’s because you’re trying so desperately to deny it.” Richard smirked and pulled her closer hugging her tightly. Her head rested against his chest as he stroked her hair, “there is hope Aly. I haven’t given up on us. I will never give up.” He whispered and it felt as if for a second the glimpse of this dream was true. That they could be together in the real world.“Yo
ALYSSA’s POV:The dinner with the Secretary of Defense went well. The man is very kind and actually has a plan to make the US a safer country. He’s very informed on the matter of the Second Amendment and the right to gun ownership whilst also acknowledging his responsibility as a public servant to protect the citizens and the children. I was pleasantly surprised by his responses to my questions and his knowledgeability. I paid for dinner to which he fought me restlessly but I insisted since he paid for our pre dinner drinks we had at the bar as our table was prepared. “See you in the White House.” I saluted him jokingly and exited the restaurant to head towards my car. I settled into the driver’s seat and took out my phone. It had dinged multiple times during dinner and I put it on silent mode. There were messages from Richard. He was expecting me. My reason told me to cancel. To let him wait there until he was too tired to wait more. But my hands gripped the steering wheel and I pr
Alyssa drove alone to the Pentagon without her agents. She was the last to arrive. Her connections there had informed her that the three men were already there and expecting. She smirked and entered the building. Her heart was pacing. They hadn’t been all four of them in the same room for quite some time. They didn’t think they would be. But tables turn and it seems that fate had come for their heads. She took the elevator down to the underground bankers where they’d decide to meet. The location was untraceable. These bankers would hide and protect the Cabinet and the President in case of an emergency. “Hello gentlemen.” Alyssa greeted them entering the banker. Their heads turned as she walked in and all eyes were on the tall slim woman rounding the long table where they sat. She sat on the head of the table and smiled faintly.“It is unfortunate that we meet again.” Alyssa says and Merlin chuckled locking eyes with her. Erik is sitting across from Merlin on her left and Theodore is n
Alyssa arrived to the White House after her eventful morning and chat with Merlin. It wasn’t long after that he called her to check in how things were going there and if anyone was looking suspicious. Who could have found out? And how? Because all of them had sworn that this would never leave the campaign bus. It would die with them. And it would be one of the many reasons but the main one that would make them fit for the pit of hell.Alyssa couldn’t concentrate as her mind roamed through possibilities of who and when and how and if. If it got out she would be destroyed. She would be done in Washington and everywhere in America. Richard would be done. He’d loose everything he’d worked so hard for just because they had taken the risk without his consent. She ran her hands through the roots of her hair. She had to inform both Erik and Theodore about what she had found out. This was the right move. But what if one of them had leaked the information? What if one of them had been preparing
The next morning Alyssa woke up in her bed. She had been tucked in and the memories flooded her mind as she flattered her eyes open. Last night had been crazy. From the dining table they’d moved to the floor and then to the couch and at last in the bedroom where the sexual endeavors ended. Alyssa’s legs were sore from the sex and a euphoric sense made her head feel dizzy. The time was 8.45 PM. Alyssa panicked thinking she had been late to the White House but remembered that most of the people didn’t come in at least after 9 PM on a Saturday. She ran a hand through her hair and got up to head to the bathroom. She needed to pee and take a quick shower to wash away the coat of sweat lingering on her skin. When she walked out of the bedroom, her eyes caught a glimpse of brown hair peaking from the arm of the couch and stalled. Instead of entering the bathroom on her left she kept walking to the living room where a laying Richard was. She smiled faintly before smacking him awake. “Wake up
Richard was enjoying the time he got to spend with his son as he started to crawl and grow up each day and a little more. He loved being a father. No matter how many times he thought about it he couldn’t get enough of it. Richard wanted nothing more than to give something to the world in return for all it has given him. His wonderful wife and son, his presidency, his soulmate. He wanted to make sure that William would fight just as he did to make the world better. Give the world a gift, a big thank you.Despite the pain, the difficulties, the tears and the challenges, Richard had been lucky. His mind drifted to her. To the woman who had captured his whole existence. Alyssa. Aly. His Aly. He had noticed her puffy red eyes that day in the garden but chose not to push her for answers. He later realized from the quietness of her phone and messages that her and Liam must have broken up. Liam used to call her every day around 3PM to see how her day was going. He hadn’t called for 3 days. An
