McKenna's POV.
"Ian-- Ian, he's awake."
I choked out as I tried getting air into my lungs. Dixon's eye widened a fraction when he finally processed what I said. He grabbed his suit jacket as shrugged it on before leading me out of the room.
'He's awake.'
That was all I could think of as I settled down in the car. I stare at my phone, somehow thinking that maybe, just maybe, Luke's call will come in again, telling me it was all a prank.
I leaned my head against the window as Dixon kept driving to the hospital. Will he recognize me? Will Ian hate me now that I've realized how right they were about Jason? Would he want to see me?
"Princess, he's going to be okay. Be happy he's awake." He said as he entwined his fingers with mine. I stared at his hand in mine as he stroked his thumb gently on my hand.
"What if he hates me? What if he doesn't recognize me? What
McKenna's POV."Well, well, well. If it isn't my favorite cousin."Dixon turned to him, anger emitting from him as he squeezed my hand.I placed my hand on his biceps, giving it a little squeeze, to calm him down. I don't want him getting angry at this event. It's supposed to be our breath of fresh air considering everything we've been through recently."What do you want, Trevor?" Trevor sipped his drink like he had no care in the world. The disgusting smirk on his face irks me to my bone, making my skin crawl."Can't a man be happy for his cousin? I came to celebrate with you. Congratulations on opening a new office, Dix.""Don't you fucking dare call me that!! You have no right." I can see the vein on his neck at this point. He's angry. I just hope he doesn't have a tantrum again. I looked at the man standing in front of me. He had a nasty smirk on his face and a glass with whiskey in his hand. I can't
McKenna's POV.I stared at the building in front of me in disbelief. I can't believe Dixon brought me here. I took my eyes off the building to look at him. He had both hands in his pockets as he stared in concentration at the building."A rehabilitation center?"He shrugged his shoulders before moving closer to the building. I placed my hand on his biceps to stop him. I can't, for the life of me, understand why he brought me here."What are we doing here, Dixon? You said we were going somewhere. I didn't know you were bringing me to a rehab center?""You don't want to come? We could go back if you want. I only came because you promised to come with me." His eyes looked sad as he said that. My brain seemed to receive some signal as I remembered the promise I made him."It's okay. I'm sorry you went through all that. I could go with you if you don't mind."
Dixon's POV.I feel so happy and complete sitting here with Leo like old times. Seeing my brother after so many years has fulfilled me in more ways than one."She's a keeper then?" He asked me some minutes after McKenna left for the restroom. I looked up at him and smiled."Yeah, she is.""I'm proud of you, baby bro. You have no idea how much pride and joy I felt whenever I see you on television.""That weirdly made me feel good." I laughed out. I watched as his countenance changed within seconds. I know that look. He's beating himself up again."I'm sorry, Dix. I should have been there for you when you needed me the most. I should have believed in you sooner. I should've known you're strong enough to fight the disease. I shouldn't have walked out on you that day. I shouldn't---""You really need to stop apologizing. It's all behind us now.
McKenna's POV.My body hurts. I could feel the pain shooting at every single muscle in my body, my head pounding and some liquid flowing down my face. My hand reached out to massage my throbbing temples trying to alleviate some of the pain, but frustration coursed through my body at the inability to move.'Ugh, my head hurts.'I slowly opened my eyes to see that I was in a dark room except for the light peeking through the small window at the top of the room. I looked around the room for a way out, but there's nothing except the window. What am I doing here? How did I get here? I can't remember anything. Think, Kenny. Think. The only thing I seem to remember was the restroom and Sophie. My eyes seem to widen as I finally realized what happened. Yes, Sophie brought me here."Sophie!!! Sophie!!!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. My head hurts, but I need to talk to her. I'm sure she has he
McKenna's POV.I opened my mouth to say something, but no words could form. The pain shooting from the back of my head also isn't helping matters. I watched as she walked to Trevor and placed a chaste kiss on his lips."What are you doing? I don't want my girl thinking we have a thing." He turned to me, an innocent smile on his face, but I knew better. "Don't worry, baby. I'm all yours."What the hell is he saying? He ran his finger down my cheek to my neck. Itried fighting him off, but I couldn't. His touch made my skin crawl, and I did the next reasonable thing I could think of at that moment. I spat on his face.He closed his eyes, letting my saliva trail down the side of his face. He laughed as he wiped it off. My face turned to the side as a harsh slap landed on my cheek. Another kick landed on the side of my stomach, making my insides churn. I swallowed my tears. If they think they can brea
Third Person's POV.Everyone turned to look at the young woman who walked in like she had no care in the world with Dixon's father. Sophie knew that her coming here was a big step. The guys were intelligent, they would've uncovered the truth by now, but they don't know her mission yet.David stopped in his tracks when he saw his son. The two stared at each other, one not believing his eyes and the other thinking he doesn't want to see him. David moved closer to his son as he enveloped him in a tight hug. He couldn't believe his son was back after everything that had happened. Dixon smiled a little when he saw the exchange. Even though his dad never admits it, he knew how much he missed Leo. Luke saw red, anger coursing through every vein in his body. Sophie was the one that kidnapped her. What the hell was she doing here?"What are you doing here? Where did you take Kenna?" Ian said, his voice dripping with anger and hatred. "Wh
McKenna's POV.Crying is the act of shedding tears in response to an emotional state. But after a certain threshold, even the tears runs out.My tears had long run out, and yet another sun was on the verge of setting. Another sunset without Dixon's arms wrapped around me every night when we'd go to the balcony after dinner to watch the sun disappear on the horizon and how he'd pull me closer when we played games in the living room with Ian and Liam.It had become their thing. A tradition that we never miss. I remember how Dixon would rush through meetings to make it back home in time before the sky is painted in various hues of purples and oranges. He'd kiss me softly as the last hue of orange disappeared, and I remember feeling like the happiest girl in the world.Dixon.He would have noticed her missing by now. I can't even imagine the pain and worry that he and every other person will

Third Person's POV.BANG!It all happened in a split second. Dixon had turned around with a frown on his face as McKenna ran straight at him. But just as she reached him, her body jolted back into him, taking the impact of the bullet. It was the bullet that was to take his life. She took the bullet for him.One of the officers took the gun from Trevor quickly as another shot him in the leg. He let out a scream in pain. Sophie ran into the room, curious as to what caused the noise.Simon stared at the woman that came in with shock evident on his face. What was she doing here dressed as an FBI agent, he thought to himself as they stared at each other. He opened his mouth to say something, but the other agents pushed him and the others out of the room."MCKENNA!" Dixon shouted as he wrapped his arms around her, who came toppling down. Her eyes were filled with pain and tears, enough to make her u
