Chapter 408 Tired

Laura began talking to Clover as they prepared the food.

"You look so young, Clover."

No one could resist positive comments about their ages. Clover was no exception.

"Thank you. But I'm really old now." She smiled.

"How old are your grandchildren? I'm guessing they're about the same age as me, right?"

Clover chuckled. "I don't have any grandchildren. I've always been alone. Mr. Wayne pitied me, so he hired me as his housekeeper."

"I'm sorry, Clover. I didn't know."

"That's alright. It's no big deal." Clover waved her hand. "I know what you're thinking, Laura. I owe Mr. Wayne too much and I don't have anything to repay him. I may be old, but I'm willing to do anything to help Mr. Wayne. As long as he needs me, I'll be there for him."

Everyone had their own goals and Laura wasn't going to comment on others' choices.

After lunch was made, Laura returned to the living room and told Madam Jacobs what just happened in the kitchen.
