At the Elevon group’s annual party, two days after their divorce, Mark was still fuming.
As he prepared to give his speech, Kamila walked in, her head held high, exuding confidence. She approached him, saying, "We need to talk." "And what do you want to talk about?" he asked, curtly. Kamila took a deep breath, her eyes meeting his. "Look, you know as well as I do that I put just as much into building this company as you did. It's only fair that we split everything down the middle. I have spoken with a business attorney and—" Mark interrupted her with a scoff. "You think you deserve half? You didn't step foot in the office for two years." Kamila's memories flashed back to Mark's past comments: "Take a break, focus on family. Are you sure you want to keep pushing yourself like this, Kamila? We're financially secure." His mother's words echoed too: "Mark is already providing for you.Be a good wife and future mother." Now she saw very clearly they only made her step aside because he was insecure. Mark was feeling overshadowed as she was getting more successful and recognized. She watched him walk away to the stage to give a stupid speech. Mark's voice echoed through the room. "Thank you all. I have an announcement to make. I'm ending my marriage to Kamila." Shocked and loud gasps were heard and all eyes immediately turned to Kamila, who stood frozen clutching a wine glass. Mark continued, "I know this may come as a surprise to some of you, but the truth is, Kamila has been unfaithful. She's been cheating on me for years, and I just couldn't live with that anymore. And now she's trying to take half of everything I've built, including this company." Nicole moved forward, her arm around Mark's waist. "Kamila used Mark for his money, then cheated on him." Mark beamed, "I have divorced her and I'm going to be marrying Nicole. She's the only woman who's ever truly loved me, and I couldn't be happier." The crowd started applauding and Kamila felt as if the ground had been yanked out from under her. She could feel the heat of a hundred pairs of eyes upon her, and she knew that the cameras were flashing, capturing her every move. Unable to contain her rage any longer, she finally found her voice. "That's not true!" she shouted, her voice quivering with emotion. "Mark is a liar! I never cheated on him, and I have every right to that company!" Nicole huffed, flipping her blonde hair dramatically. "Oh, please, Kamila. We all know the truth. You're nothing but a gold-digger, and you got exactly what you deserved." Kamila couldn’t take it anymore so she just stormed out of there, ignoring the whispers and laughter. The news of her humiliation at the party spread like wildfire on the internet. Aiden, Luca, and Kai - Kamila's three devoted brothers - were in a state of furious disbelief as they watched the clips repeatedly, their blood boiling. Aiden, the first son, paced the living room of the Smithson estate, his jaw clenched tight. "I can't believe that bastard Mark would do this to her. In front of everyone! After everything Kamila's been through." Luca, the middle brother, stood by the window, hands balled into fists at his sides. "That snake. He's trying to control the narrative, paint Kamila as the villain. We have to do something." Kai, the youngest, was scrolling frantically through his phone, trying to reach Kamila. "I can't get a hold of her. Her phone keeps going to fucking voicemail." Aiden ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "Dammit. Where is she? We need to find her, make sure she's okay." Luca checked the time on his watch, his jaw tightening. "It's after 11 pm. The gala must have wrapped up and Mark's probably back at his place by now." Kai sprang to his feet, dusting off his trousers. "Then that's where we're going. Time to teach that son of a bitch a lesson." Without another word, the three brothers strode out to the waiting limousine, Aiden barking orders to the driver. "Mark Cadet’s apartment. Step on it." As the limousine pulled up to Mark's lavish house, they all surged out. Kai was the first to pound on the door, his voice booming. "Mark Cadet! Open up, you son of a bitch!" There was a moment of silence, then the sound of shuffling footsteps. The door swung open, revealing a disheveled Mark, his eyes widening in surprise. "What the hell-" Before he could finish his sentence, Kai’s fist connected with his face, sending him stumbling backwards. "That's for what you did to Kamila, you asshole!" Kai roared, his chest heaving. Mark scrambled to his feet, his hand cupping his bloodied nose. "What are you talking about? Get the hell out of my-" Luca cut him off, his usually calm demeanor replaced by a seething rage. "Where is Kamila?" Mark's eyes darted between the three brothers, clearly struggling to focus. "Kam... Kamila? I don't- I don't know. She left the gala on her own." Aiden grabbed Mark by the collar, yanking him close. "Listen, you piece of shit. If we don't find Kamila, you're dead meat. So, you better start talking, or else." Mark's eyes widened, and he raised his hands in a placating gesture. "I-I don't know anything, I swear! Please, you have to believe me." Luca let out a frustrated growl. "Dammit. We're wasting our time here." Aiden’s grip on his shirt loosened. "You're off the hook for now, but if we don’t find Kamila, I swear to God, you'll be a dead man, capiche?" Mark nodded fearfully and then as they took their leave, he squinted his eyes in the darkness. He had too much to drink at the party. Or was he dreaming now? "Wait... wait a minute. You're... you're the Smithson brothers, aren't you?" His eyes widened, and he let out a disbelieving laugh. "But how can that be? Why would powerful wealthy men like y’all defend an ordinary person like Kamila?" Kai turned, fixing Mark with a withering glare. "Kamila is our sister, you idiot. And you just humiliated her in front of the entire city." Mark stared at them, bewilderment written across his features. "But... but that's impossible. Kamila's my wife. She has no family. How can you be her brothers?" They ignored him and strode out of the apartment and just then, Aiden's phone buzzed with an incoming call. He quickly answered, his expression shifting from anger to relief. "Kamila? Where the hell are you?" he exclaimed. They all leaned in, straining to hear Kamila's response. "I'm coming home," she announced, her voice quiet but steady. The moment Kamila’s eyes landed on Aiden, Kai, and Luca, a strong wave of emotion hit her like crazy. She barely had time to brace herself before she was enveloped in a fierce, collective hug. She didn’t know when she broke down into heavy sobs. "Shh, it's okay, Kam. We've got you," Aiden murmured, in a soothing voice as he gently wiped the tears from her cheeks with his handkerchief. "That bastard who made you cry like this – we're gonna break every bone in his body, I swear."Luca gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze. "Now, now, stop the waterworks, sis. You look like a duck when you cry," he teased, ruffling her hair affectionately. Kamila snorted with a chuckle, slapping his hand away. "I'm not a baby anymore, Luca. I've been married for five years, remember?"Luca gave one of his cheeky grins, undeterred. "Ah, but you'll always be our baby sister. Just deal with it."Kai chuckled, draping an arm around Kamila's shoulders. "Come on, munchkin. Let's get you inside. No more wastin
Back at the Cadet residence, the atmosphere was anything but calm. Mark paced around like a wild dog, his fingers clasped together."How can you be so sure that Kamila took the jade heirloom, Mother?" Mark asked in frustration. "Why did you let the media know before informing me?"A soft “tch” sound escaped Beth’s throat. "Of course it was her!Who else could it have been? That ungrateful woman was so eager to leave without taking anything, but we all know she couldn't have survived out there without some kind of leverage."Mark paused, considering his mother's words. "I suppose that's true, but we still don't have any solid evidence. What if the news reports are wrong? They're already making waves on the internet."Beth waved a dismissive hand."It doesn't matter, Mark.At least the world will see the crazy woman you married for who she really is. This is a good thing – it'll make people sympathize with you and your upcoming election bid. I'll make sure that thief Kamila is dealt with
"Kai, we don't need to close down the shop entirely. I can simply go shop elsewhere."Kai's brow furrowed as he considered Kamila’s words. "But they've disrespected you, Kamila. I won't stand for that."Just then, the snooty Nicole sashayed over, her nose upturned in disdain. "Mr Kai, did you just refer to this nobody Kamila as your sister? Pfft, the Smithson family has no daughter!" She shot Kamila a withering glare.Kai gave Nicole a sharp look, his jaw set. "Who are you to even speak? Aren’t you the rebound of Mark Cadet? The second-place woman after Kamila?"Nicole flushed, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. "That's not true! Mark and I are getting married soon!"Kai scoffed, rolling his eyes. "May it last," he said dryly.Without another word, Kai pulled out his phone and made a call, his tone clipped and authoritative. "Yes, I want the license for this establishment revoked immediately. And make sure every single assistant who's mocked my sister today is left jobless."Th

Kamila squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out the voice of the doctor as she made her way to the car in the parking lot. To think she had been excited about this child after finding out days ago she was finally pregnant. And now…this. From the rear view mirror she could see how red and puffy her green eyes and face were from all the crying. Her long black hair was in a messy fit around her shoulders and back.“Christ, I look like I have been stung by a bloody bee,” she said to herself. Just then, a notification popped up on her screen that made her do a double take. It was a social media post from Nicole. That's why he's wealthy today."Beth's face contorted with rage. "How dare you take credit for my son's hard work? He built that company from the ground up, and you were just a lucky little orphan he decided to take in and polish up!"Kamila felt the anger boiling within her, and in a moment of defiance, she reached up and yanked the golden wedding band off her finger, throwing it at Mark's feet."That’s your stupid ring Mark.
