CALLIE

I wanted to run to him, to reach Ethan before it was too late, but my legs betrayed me. They buckled, and I collapsed to the floor. The sound of my knees hitting the wooden planks echoed in the room, but I barely registered the pain.

Ethan lay motionless, his shirt soaked in blood, the dark stain spreading rapidly beneath him.

"No," I whispered, my voice cracking. "No, no, no..."

With trembling hands, I crawled toward him, each movement feeling like I was wading through quicksand. My breath hitched as I reached his side, my fingers hovering over his chest.

“Ethan!” I screamed, shaking his shoulder. “Ethan, wake up! Please!”

He didn’t respond. His skin was pale, his lips tinged with blue.

Behind me, I heard the hurried footsteps of Grace, the chef. She burst into the room, and the sight before her made her freeze in place, her hand flying to her mouth.

“Oh my God,” she gasped. “Ma'am… I… ”

“Call 911!” I shrieked, not taking my eyes off Ethan. “Now!”

Grace fumbled for her phone,

CALLIE I screamed, the sound tearing from my throat as tears blurred my vision. "Sebastian! What the hell are you doing here?!" My voice cracked with rage. "Did you… Did you do this? Did you kill Ethan?" Sebastian’s face was calm, his dark eyes void of remorse. He held the bloodied knife up, inspecting it almost absently. “Yes, I did,” he said simply, his tone devoid of emotion. “I couldn’t hold it in anymore.” His words sent a shiver down my spine. I felt like the air had been sucked out of the room. “What… What are you talking about? Why?” Sebastian took a step closer, and I instinctively flinched, my body shielding Ethan’s as best as I could. His eyes softened slightly, but it wasn’t enough to quell the terror bubbling inside me. “I didn’t want to hurt you, Callie,” he said, his voice now tinged with something that sounded like regret. “But you need to know the truth.” “What truth?” I spat, my tears falling freely. “You killed him, Sebastian! Why?! What the hell is going on?”

CALLIESophie screamed as she entered the room, her face contorted in shock. "What the hell is going on here?!" Her voice echoed off the walls, and her eyes darted between me, Sebastian, and Ethan’s lifeless body on the floor, soaked in blood. "Why is Ethan… why is he… " She couldn’t finish her sentence, her hands trembling as she gripped the gun tighter. "No, no, don’t tell me it’s what I’m thinking…"I stood up slowly, my legs unsteady, and tried to meet her frantic gaze. "Sophie, I… ""You killed him?" she shouted, her voice breaking. "Sebastian, did you…" Her words cut off as tears filled her eyes. "Tell me you didn’t do this!"Sebastian remained unnervingly calm, his hands raised slightly as if to show he wasn’t a threat. "Sophie, listen to me," he said, his voice low and steady. "It’s not what you think.""Not what I think?" She let out a bitter laugh. "I walk in here, and Ethan is dead on the floor, you’re covered in blood, and you’re telling me it’s not what I think?" She poin

CALLIE "It's Christmas now, dear. You've been out for hours," Charlotte said softly.I blinked rapidly, my head throbbing as I tried to process her words. Christmas? Hours? What was going on? My heart raced. Wait, was I dead. Was this some bizarre version of the afterlife. Or maybe I’d finally lost my mind."Am I... dreaming?" I murmured, my voice barely audible.“Merry Christmas, Callie!” the entire room chorused, their faces lighting up with smiles.I was too stunned to respond. My eyes darted around the room, landing on each familiar face: Ethan, Sebastian, Charlotte, and Mr. Thompson by the fireplace, holding a mug of hot cocoa, his grin wider than I’d ever seen."What... is happening?" I finally managed to say, my voice cracking.Charlotte’s voice pulled me from my spiraling thoughts. “Callie, darling, are you alright?” she asked, concern etched on her face.Sebastian was at my side in an instant, his strong hands steadying me. “Does your head still hurt?” he asked softly. “Shou

SEBASTIANMy head was spinning. Callie’s words were still ringing in my ears: ‘You were going to die, Sebastian. I was going to die. You were going to murder Ethan.’How could she know? How could she describe events so precisely, events that hadn’t even happened yet? But then, the more she spoke, the more it became clear… this wasn’t some delusion. This was real. Every detail she revealed sent chills down my spine. If everything she said was true, then I had no choice. I had to stop this future from becoming reality.Callie’s hand trembled in mine as we re-entered the warm glow of the living room. Charlotte’s eyes lit up as she spotted us, but her smile quickly faltered when she saw our serious expressions.“Is everything alright?” she asked, her voice laced with concern.Callie forced a smile, her grip tightening on my hand. “Yes, everything’s fine. In fact, I’ve made a decision,” she said, her voice steady, though I could feel the tension radiating off her.All eyes turned to her, a

CALLIEI walked back into the parlor, the sound of the door closing softly behind me as I rejoined the rest of the family. Sophie hesitated in the doorway before following me, her eyes scanning the room like she was trying to figure out how to fit into this new reality.Charlotte, as though sensing the shift in atmosphere, clapped her hands together, drawing everyone's attention."Alright, everyone!" she announced brightly, her voice cutting through the tension. "We have a little tradition in this family. We always sing a Christmas song before we exchange gifts!"There was a chorus of excited murmurs, and I had to stifle a smile. This was all so… funny. I'd been through all of this before, seen every moment unfold in the future. And now here I was, back in the present, watching them play out their little traditions like I wasn’t about to change everything.I made my way over to the sofa where Sebastian was sitting, his eyes locking with mine the moment I approached. CALLIE"Alright, let’s do this," I muttered under my breath, heading for the pile of wrapped gifts under the tree. “I'll go first.”I spotted Ethan in the corner of my eye, his mischievous smile already directed my way. That fool… he thought he had me figured out. Well, this time I’d show him just how wrong he was.I made my way over to the table, where the gifts were scattered around, carefully observing the ones with name tags. I saw my gift, written in bold letters, the one Ethan had prepared for me. Without hesitation, I picked up the box with my name on it and, with a casual movement, ripped off the tag. I quickly swapped it for Sophie’s name. Then, with a satisfied grin, I picked up the gift meant for her…a small, neatly wrapped box… and tucked it under my arm.Done.I turned back toward the group as everyone began to grab their presents.Ethan's gaze shifted toward me, his smile widening into a knowing grin as he saw me helding to the chair. He hadn't realized that his "gift"

SEBASTIANEveryone in the room was stunned into silence. Their wide-eyed expressions told me everything… they never saw it coming. Not from me. I had spent years playing the obedient son, toeing the line, and keeping my head down. But not anymore.Charlotte looked like she might faint. Her hand clutched the pearls around her neck as though they could somehow anchor her to reality. Ethan, meanwhile, just stood there, slack-jawed. He was always the favorite, the one who could do no wrong. But now, he was left picking up the pieces of a plan I had just shattered.“Sebastian,” Charlotte finally croaked, her voice trembling. “You can’t be serious. Do you even understand what you’re giving up?”“Oh, I understand perfectly,” I said, my tone razor-sharp. “I’m giving up a lifetime of manipulation, deceit, and living under the family’s thumb ” I jerked my head toward Mr. Thompson, whose face was still a dangerous shade of red. “I’m done.”“You’ll regret this,” Ethan muttered, his voice laced wi

CALLIEThis wasn’t what I expected. Not in the slightest. When I thought about running away with Sebastian, I had envisioned something a little more… peaceful. Maybe a quiet retreat where we could leave all the chaos behind, just the two of us, wrapped up in our own bubble of love. But now? It felt like an adventure. A wild one, but an adventure nonetheless.I glanced over at Sebastian as he focused on the road. There was something about the way he was driving, the way his jaw clenched with resolve, that made me want to just reach out and hold him. We were running from a life neither of us wanted, but this… this felt like the beginning of something new. Something real. And, honestly, as much as I was terrified of what the future held, a part of me was also loving it. Loving that it was just us now. No more lies, no more games, no more expectations to meet. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I could breathe. But then, just like that, the cold edge of reality slid in, a shiv

You could’ve spared me all the stress and drama.”He winced slightly, “I didn’t want to tell you because I knew you’d be scared. You wouldn’t have agreed to let my guy shoot her. Not here, not today.”I was about to retort when I glanced around, my gaze landing on the guests who still remained eerily silent. My heart tightened with a sudden wave of discomfort. “Wait… have the guests been informed about all of this? About what’s happening?”Sebastian gave me that damn smile of his, the one that made everything seem like it was under control. “Oh, they know. I had to tell them. I didn’t want there to be chaos when it all went down.”I narrowed my eyes. “You’re not serious,” I muttered, lightly hitting his head playfully. "You had to make sure everything went according to plan, even the guests."He chuckled softly. “Callie, you’re the one who’s always thinking things throu

It was meant to make her forget all about that witch and focus on us.I glanced over at her, and for a moment, our eyes met. CALLIEThe bell chimed softly as we stepped into the cake shop, the rich scent of vanilla and chocolate filled the air. The baker, a cheerful woman in her forties with flour dusting her apron, welcomed us with a bright smile.“Good afternoon!” she greeted. “You must be the Thompsons?”“That’s us,” Sebastian replied, wrapping an arm around my waist. “Or at least, soon-to-be Thompsons.”I smiled, still thinking about my wedding dress. I had just bought my dream wedding gown… a simple but stunning straight dress. I couldn’t wait to wear it as I walked down the aisle to marry the man standing beside me.The baker ushered us to a cozy table near the counter, where a variety of cake samples had already been laid out. “Alright, let’s get started. These are some of our most popular flavors. Feel free to let me know if there’s something specific you’d like to try.”We sat down, and I immediately reached for a small fork, eager to dive in.
