CALLIE

The tears I’d been holding back finally spilled over, trailing down my cheeks in hot, stinging streams. I tried to swipe them away, but they kept coming, blurring my vision and choking my breath. “But he’s going to be fine, right?”

The doctor gave me a smile. “Yes, surprisingly. He’s still unconscious, but his vitals are stable, and he’s breathing on his own now. We expect him to wake up soon.”

Relief swept through me, leaving me lightheaded and dizzy. I leaned back in my chair, pressing a hand against my chest as if it could stop my racing heart.

“He’s alive,” I murmured, more to myself than anyone else. “He’s going to wake up.”

The doctor nodded. “It’s remarkable, honestly. Given the severity of his injuries from the fall, it’s a miracle he survived. Most patients wouldn’t have made it through.”

Sebastian had always been a fighter, stubborn and relentless. If anyone could pull through something like this, it was him.

The doctor’s expression darkened, pulling me back to the mo

CALLIE Before the doctor could respond, Lucas cut in. His tone was firm, leaving no room for argument. “No, you won’t.”I turned to him, my brows furrowing in confusion. “Lucas…”“I said no.” He leaned forward, his hands braced on the desk as he stared at the doctor. “I’ll handle the bills. Every last cent.”My jaw dropped. “Lucas, you don’t have to… ”“Yes, I do,” he interrupted, his gaze sharp as he turned to me. “Sebastian’s my best friend. He’s like a brother to me. There’s no way I’m letting you shoulder this alone.”“But…”“No buts, Callie,” he said firmly, his tone softening slightly as he placed a hand on my shoulder. “I’ve got this. You’ve been through enough already. Let me do this for both of you.”Tears welled up in my eyes again, a fresh wave of emotion crashing over me. I didn’t know what to say. How could I possibly thank him for something like this? The doctor cleared his throat, breaking the silence. “If that’s the case, we can arrange a payment plan or discuss other

SEBASTIAN I watched Callie devour her burger, a smile tugging at my lips. She must have been starving. The way her shoulders relaxed with each bite made me feel a mix of guilt and gratitude. Guilt because she looked so worn out. Her eyes rimmed with exhaustion and worry lines etched on her forehead. Gratitude because, despite everything, she was here. She hadn’t left my side. How did I get so lucky? The truth was, I couldn’t remember much. The accident had wiped away the moments leading up to it, like someone had erased a chalkboard. I tried to dig through the fog in my mind, but the last clear memory I had was leaving the house with Lucas. Now the doctor had delivered the crushing news: I wouldn’t be able to walk. Not for now, at least. They were hopeful that with time and therapy, I might regain mobility, but nothing was guaranteed. I looked down at my legs, covered by the hospital blanket. They felt alien to me, heavy and unresponsive. The thought of being stuck in this conditi

CALLIEI kept my gaze on Sebastian, forcing a small smile, even though my chest felt heavy. His question hung in the air, and I didn’t know how to answer it. Not here, not now. He’d just come back to me, barely out of the woods after the accident. How could I add this to everything he was already dealing with?“Callie,” he said softly, breaking through my thoughts. His eyes, though tired, were filled with concern. “What’s wrong?”I hesitated, staring at my hands as I fidgeted with the edge of the blanket. I tried to form the words, but they caught in my throat. I didn’t want to say it, didn’t want to see the look of worry deepen in his eyes.“Callie, Lucas.” he called out. “Talk to me. What’s going on?”I bit my lip, glancing away as my heart thudded painfully in my chest. Finally, I took a shaky breath and said, “I don’t have an apartment anymore.”Sebastian frowned, clearly confused. “What do you mean? Did you sell it or something?”I shook my head slowly, still avoiding his gaze.

CALLIEI scrambled to pull my top down, my face flushing as I sat upright. "Lucas!" I exclaimed, my voice more of a squeak.Sebastian, however, didn’t seem nearly as fazed. He leaned back against his pillows with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “Ever heard of knocking, Lucas?”Lucas blinked at us. “You’re kidding, right? You’re in a hospital room. I figured privacy was implied.” He ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head. “But no, I guess I should’ve anticipated this. You’re incapable of resting like a normal human being.”I buried my face in my hands, mortified. “This isn’t happening,” I mumbled.“Oh, it’s happening,” Lucas said with a chuckle. “Trust me, I wish it weren’t, too.” He pointed a finger at Sebastian. “And you… shouldn’t you be focusing on, I don’t know, not moving too much instead of trying to get into… hmmm?”Sebastian smirked, completely unbothered by the situation. “Don’t blame me, Lucas.”He turned his gaze to me, his eyes softening. “I’ve just misse

CALLIEI stepped back into the apartment, closing the door quietly behind me. Sebastian was sitting in his wheelchair, his face turned toward the large windows that overlooked the city skyline. “Hey,” I said softly, walking toward him.He turned his head, his lips curving into a faint smile. “Hey babe.”I stopped in front of him, crouching slightly so I could meet his gaze. “How are you feeling?”“I’m fine,” he replied, the automatic response falling from his lips like a reflex.I arched a brow, refusing to let him off the hook so easily. “Fine doesn’t count. I need details, Sebastian. Pain level? Energy? Mood? Spill.”He chuckled lightly, though there was a flicker of exhaustion in his eyes. “Alright, Nurse Callie. Pain’s manageable. Energy’s low. Mood… significantly improved now that you’re here.”My heart warmed at his words, and I leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. “I’ve missed you being home,” I whispered. He reached for my hand. “I’ve missed being here.”I

SEBASTIAN The satisfaction coursing through my veins was unlike anything I’d felt in weeks. Callie always knew how to drive me crazy, how to take me to the brink and pull me back just in time. But this time, as I watched her lean back, catching her breath with that teasing smirk on her lips, I couldn’t let it end there. Not when I knew how much she wanted me. Not when I could see it in the way her body trembled, how her chest rose and fell with unspoken need."Callie," I murmured,“Come here. Lie on the bed for me,” I said, my gaze steady on hers. For a moment, she just stared, her lips twitching as if she wanted to argue. But then, without a word, she stood and tugged her gown off, the fabric slipping down her body in one smooth motion. My breath hitched. God, she was stunning. She walked to the bed, moving slowly, as if she knew the effect she had on me. When she lay down, she parted her legs just enough to reveal her pink vertical lips between her thighs.I swallowed hard. “You’re

CALLIEI stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the collar of the navy-blue blazer Sebastian had insisted I wear. It was professional, and paired perfectly with the baggy office pants. My hair was pinned back, not a strand out of place, and I couldn’t help but smirk as I caught Sebastian’s reflection in the mirror. His eyes roamed over me with that familiar intensity that made my stomach flutter.“You look gorgeous,” he said, his voice low, full of admiration. “So fine it’s unfair to the rest of the world.”I turned to face him, raising an eyebrow. “Oh, you think so?”“Absolutely,” he replied, a playful grin tugging at his lips. “They’re not ready for you, Callie.”I laughed softly, walking over to him and brushing my fingers along his cheek. “What about you? Are you going to be okay while I’m gone?”Sebastian leaned back in his wheelchair, his expression softening. “I’ll be fine. This is your moment, Callie. Don’t worry about me. Just focus on sealing that deal.”I bent down, pressi

His gaze lingered far too long on me, sliding shamelessly from my face to my chest, and then lower.“You’re... quite striking,” he said. “I can see why Sebastian trusts you. You carry yourself well.”I sat up straighter, ignoring the implication in his tone. “Thank you, Mr Carlisle,” I replied, keeping my voice firm but polite.“Frank… my name is Frank,” he corrected, leaning forward slightly. “Please, Callie, no need for formalities. We’re going to be partners soon, after all.”He paused, letting the word partners hang in the air, dripping with double meaning. My stomach twisted in disgust, but I kept my expression neutral.“Alright, Frank,” I said coolly. “But I’m not entirely sure what you mean by ‘partners.’ Could you clarify?”His smirk deepened as if he thought my question was naive. “Come now, Callie. CALLIEI slapped Sebastian’s chest, the frustration bubbling inside me. “You should’ve just told me all this sooner! You could’ve spared me all the stress and drama.”He winced slightly, “I didn’t want to tell you because I knew you’d be scared. You wouldn’t have agreed to let my guy shoot her. Not here, not today.”I was about to retort when I glanced around, my gaze landing on the guests who still remained eerily silent. My heart tightened with a sudden wave of discomfort. “Wait… have the guests been informed about all of this? About what’s happening?”Sebastian gave me that damn smile of his, the one that made everything seem like it was under control. “Oh, they know. I had to tell them. I didn’t want there to be chaos when it all went down.”I narrowed my eyes. “You’re not serious,” I muttered, lightly hitting his head playfully. SEBASTIANI kept my eyes on the road, but my attention was mostly on Callie. She was sitting there quiet, her fingers tapping nervously against her knee. I knew she was still upset about Charlotte… hell, I was too…but this surprise... it was meant to take her mind off things. It was meant to make her forget all about that witch and focus on us.I glanced over at her, and for a moment, our eyes met. I could see the worry still clouding her thoughts, but her lips curled up just slightly. That was all I needed. I wasn’t giving up. I had promised her everything, and I would keep that promise.I loved Callie more than anything. The thought of her standing by my side for the rest of our lives filled me with a sense of pride I couldn’t put into words. But today… today was about proving it. I wasn’t just going to let some meddling woman ruin our joy. Not today. Not ever.I pulled up to the curb, the tires rolling over the gravel, and stopped in front of the building. CALLIEThe bell chimed softly as we stepped into the cake shop, the rich scent of vanilla and chocolate filled the air. The baker, a cheerful woman in her forties with flour dusting her apron, welcomed us with a bright smile.“Good afternoon!” she greeted. “You must be the Thompsons?”“That’s us,” Sebastian replied, wrapping an arm around my waist. “Or at least, soon-to-be Thompsons.”I smiled, still thinking about my wedding dress. I had just bought my dream wedding gown… a simple but stunning straight dress. I couldn’t wait to wear it as I walked down the aisle to marry the man standing beside me.The baker ushered us to a cozy table near the counter, where a variety of cake samples had already been laid out. “Alright, let’s get started. These are some of our most popular flavors. Feel free to let me know if there’s something specific you’d like to try.”We sat down, and I immediately reached for a small fork, eager to dive in.
