"Calm down, Wendy."

Wendy, usually composed and refined from her years in the corporate world, seemed to have been pushed to her limit by Stephen, causing her to react this way. I didn't know the details of their disagreement, but I was firmly on Wendy's side.

If it weren't for the potential backlash from such a public outburst, I might not have intervened to prevent her from expressing her anger.

"I'm sorry, I made a mistake," Wendy apologized.

It was impressive how quickly Wendy's demeanor switched. She swiftly buttoned up Stephen's shirt and straightened his clothes. "To make up for my mistake, I'll cover your bill," she offered.

With that, she pulled me back to our table, leaving Stephen looking utterly bewildered.

As I glanced back at Stephen and then at Wendy, I couldn't help but wonder what Stephen had said to upset her so much.

"Jen, I know I'm good-looking, but staring won't fill you up. Here, try this fish, it's really good," Wendy said, acting as if nothing had happen
