Kelsey’s father had always been a man who put a lot of stock in his reputation. What happened with the Langs breaking off the engagement with the Youngs was enough of a public humiliation for him. If the picture Kelsey had taken got out to the news media, it would further sabotage the Youngs’ image even if Kelsey was not a famous figure.

“As if the Youngs have any reputation to speak of at this point!” Kelsey remarked with scorn, “You were the one trying to legitimize your bastard daughter born outside of wedlock, do you think the scandal you have caused hasn’t dragged the family name through the mud already?”

Megan was stunned speechless.

“Shut your mouth!” Charlie bellowed, “It looks like it’s about time I beat some lessons into you so you learn some respect!”

With that, he lifted his hands in the air and prepared to swing it down across Kelsey’s face.
