BLURB: “What are you doing, Adrian?!” I ask in an alarmed tone, the intense look in his eyes scaring the shit out of me. “I can fucking smell him on you!” Adrian growls at me as he covers the distance between us. “Let go, Adrian. You are scaring me!” I say in a shaky tone as Adrian's hand wraps around my wrist like a hot band. “You better be scared, doll, because when I'm done with you my name will be the only thing etched in your mind and fucking body.” Adrian says through gritted teeth, his words leaving me shaking on the spot. I'm overwhelmed with fear as I begin to wonder if I will even make it out if this room alive. __________________________ For a long time, winning the love of one of the most ruthless billionaires in the city was the only thing on Anya's mind until she is faced with his cruel betrayal and served with divorce papers. Anya is faced with the truth of what happened all those years ago, and she is determined to get revenge against every single person who has hurt her and her family. But what happens when she is faced with a new side of Adrian she has never seen before? A side that tucks her in at night and refuses to let her out of his sight? Will she be able to see past his betrayal or will she forever be stuck in a position where her revenge means more to her than anything else?

I frown in confusion at the suspicious actions of the person in the car, but before I can step closer to get a clearer look at the car, the person drives away speedily, leaving a trail of dust in its wake. I pull down the arms of my knitted sweater as I try to drive away the chill that suddenly takes over my body. I try to shake off the dark feelings from my heart and clear my head, but it’s hard. Nico will always be in the back of my mind and forever in my heart. With a fist sized lump in my throat, I call for a cab, collapsing into the passenger seat, unable to hold myself up any longer. I stare out at the scenery whipping past us, and my lips curl up into a bitter smile. Maybe one day eventually, I will be able to remember Nico without feeling this debilitating pain in my chest. ————————————————ANYA’S POV: My alarm goes off, and a groan escapes my lips as I roll t
ANYA’S POV: I feel a cold hand on my shoulder, and I can’t help but turn to face the owner of the hand. Staring at the stranger's face helps me regain back my control and emotionless facade. Focusing on the man dressed in a black plain two piece suit, I realize that I don’t recognize him from our earlier bout of introductions. The man must notice my confusion because he immediately holds out his hand, an easy smile on his lips as he introduces himself; “Lucas Grant.” I stretch out my hand, wrapping my fingers around his, “Anya.” I say on impulse, leaving out Adrian’s middle name. Lucas notices it immediately, and the edge of his lips curls up into a slight smirk. “I would love to dance with you, Miss Anya.” Lucas says as he continues to hold onto my arm. I suddenly feel slightly irritated by his touch, but I force it downwards, already making up my mind to accept his offer. I don’t correct the title he added before my name as I see no need to. “I would love to.” I finally respon
ANYA’S POV: Adrian rushes towards Theo, punching him hard across his jaw before he can step out of the way. He grabs him by the collar of his shirt and he knocks him to the ground. Chaos ensues as everyone rushes closer to find out what’s going on, but Adrian doesn’t pay them any mind. It’s a good thing reporters aren’t allowed into the main hall, but Adrian should already know that his actions would bring bad publicity to his company. I can’t help the anger that surges through my veins as I rush forward to try to get him to stop. Knowing that I can’t physically push him off Theo, I have to reason with him. “Let him go, Adrian! He was just messing with you.” I say through gritted teeth as I try to tug him off a bloodied Theo, my hands wrapped tightly around his bicep. My temperature spikes through the roof and I start to seriously worry for Theo’s life. I feel extremely guilty for putting him through this. I can understand that he’s righteously angry on my behalf, but I guess I
ANYA’S POV: My lips curl into a wide and joyous smirk as I take in their wide eyed expressions. I don’t think I’ve been this excited for anything in the past. I’m pretty sure the old me wouldn’t have dared to do this, but it’s almost as if my personality and soul changed with that accident or it could also be that I’m too exhausted with all that they have put me through and it’s finally time to get my own lick back. Nyssa clears her throat as she spares Irene a quick glance before turning towards Adrian. She lifts her hands to his arms, softly tugging on his suit to get his full attention and then she turns to me. “Why couldn’t you just admit defeat, Anya?!” Nyssa sneers at me, her gaze burning with anger, “Did you have to go ahead and embarrass Irene?!” “You would rather I take the fall for something I had nothing to do with?!” I scoff at her words, while rolling my eyes at all their shocked expressions. Nyssa looks taken aback for a second before regaining herself. “But you ar
ANYA’S POV: I hate that I’m hesitant to go on with my revenge plan against this maid, but I guess I can make use of her in other ways. My mood becomes infinitely better as a plan forms in my mind. The maid stumbles backward in fear when I step closer to her. She will be paying, but only with her fear and anxiety. I guess her worrying everyday about what I might ask of her is enough to satiate my anger at the moment. “Fine, I forgive you.” I say with a bitter smile on my lips. The maid’s eyes are wide in disbelief, but I guess she finally convinced herself to trust me. Too bad for her. “Thank you. Thank you very much.” “But you owe me one. And I will be cashing in on that favour very soon.” I say with a sneer on my lips. The maid’s eyes widen in horror but I guess she realizes that that’s as good as she’s going to get, so she just nods her head in acceptance rather than argue with me. I turn my back on her, prepared to storm out of the room, but a thought stops me in my tracks a
ANYA’S POV: I clench my fists in anger as I storm out of the closet. I run my hands through my hair in frustration, unsure about what to do next. I’m totally and completely doomed. My eyes fly to the digital clock sitting on my bedside cupboard, and I see that it’s barely three hours before the event is scheduled to start. There’s absolutely no way I will be able to get a dress worthy of the occasion in this short time. My lips curve into a bitter smile as I can already imagine what the crowd's expression would be like when I turn up at the event in a dress I’ve already worn before. It might seem dramatic, but ever since the death of Nico, I’ve been torn down and criticized by the public so often that it feels normal to me. This was my only chance to change their mind about me, but now Thalia and Irene have stolen that chance from me. This goes farther than the villagers being materialistic assholes, but rather the fact that my outfit would signify the level of support I’m willing
ANYA’S POV: “I need your help.” I press the send button while biting my nails, waiting impatiently for Theo’s response. I can still hear Irene’s voice, but it seems like I’m no longer an interesting topic of discussion. Given all Dimitri Vasilis took from me and my dad, one would think that they would be remorseful and treat me nicely, but instead, they are so loud in their disrespect and hatred for me. A scoff escapes my lips as I remember how often I used to stay up late at night trying to figure out why Adrian and his family hated me. To Adrian, I was nothing more than an opportunist who trapped him with the help of his father and to his mother and sister, I was the stupid bitch who wouldn’t just die with her father. Theo’s response comes almost immediately as I’m notified with a “ding” sound. “Anything.” His response is curt, simple and straight to the point. “I want you to find me the most decent event planning agency in the city. One who wouldn’t betray me.” My hands fly ov
ANYA’S POV: My eyes spring open just as I’m doused with a cup of cold water – not enough to soak the beddings, but just enough to make me leap off the bed. I fall onto the ground with a loud “oomph” sound, pain radiating up my arms. “What the fuck!” I screech in anger before turning my glare on the person who is currently holding the empty cup. My mood darkens when I find Nyssa staring at me with a satisfied smirk on her lips. “What the hell is wrong with you?!” I demand in anger as I rise to my feet. “It’s just entertaining to see you fall off the bed like a trained dog.” Nyssa says with a bright expression on her face that sets me off. “You bitch! How entertaining is it to invade the privacy of a married woman? A woman married to a man who despises you?” I ask with a sneer on my lips, emphasizing the last part of my question. It brings me immense joy to see the smirk wiped off her face. Adrian has always been a sore spot for her, and without his attention or approval, she beco
“Are you okay with the dresses, Ma’am?” A nervous voice belonging to the manager of the boutique brings me out of my reverie. My lips curl into a strained smile as I turn away from the mirror and towards her. “They are all perfect. They fit like a second skin.” I volunteer in a dry tone. I can see the instant relief on the manager's face and I can’t help but feel a little guilty at the unreasonable pressure placed on them by Adrian. I can just imagine Adrian chopping their heads if they make one measly mistake. “I will be waiting outside.” The manager says before slipping out of the changing room. I’m kind of shocked that she even found me here considering how I made a hasty escape from the main area of the boutique. I couldn’t handle the side of Adrian that he was portraying to me. It’s almost like a ghost or a soul changing spirit has inhabited his body, making him act strangely. Like always, I expected him to take his mothers orders and drop me as his partner for the ball, but
ANYA'S POV: “Harder Adrian!! Harder!!! Ahhhhhhnnn!!!” Nyssa moans in an unabashed tone. My hand flies to my mouth as I find it hard to believe what I'm hearing. It doesn't take a genius to guess that the people in the office are having sex. My ears literally start to bleed at the continuous and loud moans. I'm not naturally a prude, but seeing that it's my husband in the room, I guess my reaction is justified. “Oh! Oh! You feel so good Adrian!!” She moans loudly once more, confirming that I hadn't heard wrong the first time. My heart drops to the bottom of my stomach, and goosebumps suddenly erupt all over my skin. My heart is almost ready to beat out of my chest. I'm overcome with immense fear as a part of me wants to escape from here before he finds out that I'm aware of his affair, but another part of me knows that I can't ignore this. Tears fill my eyes and start rolling down my cheeks in torrents. I continue to cry silently as my husband fucks his secretary who is also his...
