"Oh, Tiffany." I sighed, scooping her into my arms and lifting her up off the ground. Tiffany sniffled, pouting as small drops of tears ran down her face.

"Um... y-you don't have to cry. I won't be gone for long. You won't even know I left." Sebastian stuttered, startled by her sudden outburst but trying his best to calm her down.

"B-but I don't want you to go. Is it be... because I l-laughed at your pancakes? I-I'm sorry. I won’t do it again." She sobbed, stretching her arms to him.

I wasn't even surprised that she was able to draw such a wild conclusion. And I couldn't judge her, or wouldn't that be hypocritical?

In just the few days of meeting Sebastian, we've had up to three misunderstandings because I thought he meant something that he didn't.

It was almost like she was copying me. Like mother, like daughter. That was bad. I had to change that behaviour in me and her so she wouldn't have issues with people.

"No, it's not that. I'm not angry at you because of that. You were righ

“W-what is this?” “What does it look like? Divorce papers.” Bruno replied, taking a large drag of his cigarette. “You’re divorcing me.” I whispered, gripping the sides of the file in my hand. The air in the office suddenly became too thin and too heavy, like I was breathing in blades. “Don’t act so surprised. You knew this day would come.” He scoffed, blowing a puff of smoke in the air. I knew. I knew this day would come from the moment I said ‘I do’ two years ago. The countless affairs and the times he threatened to do so were an added bonus. But I never expected it to be this day of all days. Not when I found out the news that was going to change our lives. “W-what about your child?” I asked as my trembling hands dropped the file on the table between us. “What delusions are you talk—” “I’m pregnant.” I breathed, pulling on a paper from my purse and dropping it in front of him. He stared at it with zero emotions in his and took another drag of his cigarette. “T

‘Ouch!’I groaned as the man and I crashed to the ground with him on me, crushing me under his heavy weight.‘Ow! I hope I didn’t hurt my baby! Am I bleeding? I don’t think so, but ow, my back and stomach hurt.’ I winced, pressing my hand over my stomach as he rolled off me.“What the hell is wrong with you?!” A masculine voice yelled, and my brows furrowed.‘Who is he talking to? We are the only ones here. Does he have some kind of psychotic condition? I hope not. I can’t deal with a madman after all that happened today.’ I thought as I stumbled to my feet. Puffy blue eyes glared at me, and I flinched, taking a step backward.“A-are you ok?” I asked, hoping I could disperse the tension hanging in the air. He probably wasn’t angry that I had saved him. Maybe shocked but not angry, I hoped.“Why the hell did you save me?!” He barked, taking a step towards me, and I took two back.“I… I-I couldn’t just let you—”“You could have! You could have turned away and pretended I wasn’t there bu

*Five years later*‘I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.’ I pep talked myself as I tried not to squirm on the couch, which probably cost more than my house rent. The house was intimidating, and though it wasn’t a mansion like I had grown up in, it was still a high-class luxury.‘It doesn’t make sense. Why would someone with this kind of wealth want to patronize me? Me?! With her kind of money, I’m sure she has access to different luxurious designers and brands, so why me? Unless…’ I bit my inner cheek, trying to quench the fear that gripped my bones, and I shook my head.‘No. I’m just being paranoid. From what I saw on the net, she doesn’t have any relation with my ex-husband or ex-family. And it’s been five years. They probably think I’m long dead. I really need to—’“I’m sorry for keeping you waiting. I had an urgent call to attend to.” A young lady said as she strutted into the living room, and I stood up.She was prettier in real life and taller than I imagined, almost a h

'It's who? Me?' I blinked as the man stared at me, and a bright smile crossed his face. I swear I was almost blinded it. Did he seriously have to smile? He was already handsome—fatally handsome. He already had the face that charmed women without him even trying, and with a body like his, he had them chasing after him hard."I can't believe I've found you." He grinned, pulling me closer to him, and I stiffened. "Sorry. But I think you got the wrong person." I cringed, pressing my hand to his shoulder and trying to shove him off. Too close. He was holding me way too close. He was huge. His body engulfed me, and for the briefest moment I thought, it was like how bodies matched like puzzle pieces. Silly thoughts. Why was everyone thinking they knew me? First Bianca and then this man. It was worrying. What if one of them actually did? It was obvious he was part of the elite of society. His suit was made with quality material, and he was also in Bianca's house; I doubted she would let jus

“No, Tiffany is fine. She just had a minor relapse. Has she been spending a lot of energy?” Doctor Harper asked as she touched Tiffany’s forehead with the back of her hand. “Yes, she has. She has been getting a little bit more active lately, and though I curbed it a bit, I also didn’t want to make her keep sitting or lying in one place. I thought a little exercise would be good for her, but it seems I was wrong. I hope my carelessness hasn’t caused more damage.” I confessed as guilt gnawed at me. ‘Maybe I should have forced her to stay in bed all day until she fully recovered. Her health is really delicate, but still, I took it too lightly.’ I blamed myself. ‘If something bad happens to her, it would be all my fault because I was irresponsible and careless.’ “It’s not your fault.” She assured me, and her smile grew softer. “You did the right thing by encouraging her to play more, which is needed for her recovery, but it seems we overestimated how fast the recovery would be. She’s

“Yes, it was Sebastian. He just wanted to ask how Tiffany was.” I hummed as I just stared at the phone in my hand. It was like the last few minutes were unreal.“Are you going to tell me how you met Sebastian Warners, or do you want me to beg?” Dorothy joked, forming a serious expression and crossing her arms over her chest.“Um, I don’t know. Maybe I want you to beg.” I smirked, checking my nails, and she rolled her eyes.“You wish,” she scoffed, and I giggled. “Do you seriously not know who he is?”“Not really; maybe I’ve heard of him before, but I don’t think so. It’s not like he’s important.” I shrugged, and she facepalmed.“Sometimes I swear you’re living at the bottom of the ocean. How can you not know Sebastian Warners?” She scolded me, shaking her head like a disappointed mother.“You know I can’t keep up with all these kinds of stuff. It’s too confusing. I only follow those that concern me.” I lied, wearing an innocent smile. It wasn’t too confusing. I just didn’t follow the

”Hello, it’s so good to see you, Aurora.” Bianca said as she strutted into the living room. “Can I call you Aurora? You can call me Bianca.” “Of course you can. It’s good to see you too,” I smiled, standing on my feet. ‘He’s here? Why is he here?’ My lips twitched as Sebastian came in behind her. ‘What am I saying? Why won’t he be? He’s her brother. But why is he here? Doesn’t he have work or something? Did they discuss me? Both of them did think they recognised me. Have they figured it out? Is that why he’s here? Do they want to talk to me about—’ “Good evening, Aurora. How are you and your daughter now?” He asked as Bianca sat down on the couch opposite the one that I sat on. “We’re good. Thanks for your help that day, Mr. Warner.” I said, as I tried to keep my nerves in check. “Please call me Sebastian, and you’re welcome. ”What?!” I gawked at her. “You have to be kidding. Please, Dorothy, just tell me that that was a joke.” “Here.” Dorothy whispered, dropping the paper on my hand. I held my breath as I unfolded it. My gaze soaked in the printed words, and my stomach tightened. Was this some kind of prank? April fools when it wasn’t April? Why was I seeing words that weren’t making logical sense?“This is impossible. No, it can’t be.” I threw the paper to the ground. “How can he increase the rent by fifty percent?! Fifty percent! Who increases rent by fifty percent?! We can’t pay that!”It was exorbitant. Who just woke up one morning and increased rent by a whole fifty percent?! Our landlord, Charlie, already knew it was always hard for us to pay the old rent. Our rent had expired, and we had begged him to give us a month to renew. How could he have said yes and yet pulled this stunt?“He knows that’s why he’s evicting us. We have just two weeks to leave, or he would kick us out.” She scowled as she p

'Is that...' My nose twitched, and I took in a deep breath. The aroma of pancakes filled my nose, and I let it out with a big smile on my face. 'Um... pancakes.'I rolled to my side and my eyes fluttered open. My brows scrunched, and I sat up.'I'm in my room?' I blinked, rubbing my eyes as if that would change the scene around. No, it didn't. I was in my room and on my bed.'How? I don't remember going to bed. I was in my studio, then I dozed off and... and...' My eyes widened and my hands flew to my mouth. 'I remember Sebastian waking me up, and he... he... That wasn't a dream?! Sebastian carried me to bed?!'My entire face turned bright red, and I fell back into the bed, burying my head under my pillow.'Sebastian carried me to bed?! And I stroked his cheek. I stroked his cheek?! I thought it was a dream, but it wasn't! I did it in real life. And I called him handsome! Handsome! Ahh! How am I going to face him now?! I feel so stupid!' I squealed into my hands, and I pressed my leg

'Another peck?!' I thought as my face flared. 'Is giving random pecks going to be a thing now? It's not that I mind if he continues to, though... it's very nice. Bruno... never showed such affection to me. Bruno never even touched me unless... he... I can't think of that now.'"Um... Thank you." I squeaked, as my stomach did backflips, and I gave his shoulder a soft shove. His arms slipped off my waist, and I bit my inner cheeks, stopping my lips from flipping to frown. Maybe I should have let him hold me a little bit longer."Did you just come back, or have you been home for a while? What's the time anyway?" I asked, stepping away from him and pulling out my phone from my shorts' pocket."I just came back. I was going to my room when I saw your door open and you dozing off on your desk. Shouldn't you be in bed? It's quite late." He said as his eyes scanned across my desk covered with papers, notebooks, pens, and whatever other knickknacks I needed to get inspiration."It's almost two

'What the heck did I just say? Gosh, I feel so stupid. Please let the ground open and swallow me because it would be the perfect thing to happen right now. Why did that come out of nowhere?' I screeched in my head."What? You want to know if I find you attractive?" Sebastian blinked, confusion laced in his gaze and face."Forget about that. Just forget it. It was another of the crazy ideas my friend pumped into me and my daughter. She said you said this morning because you find me attractive, which is crazy, right? I mean, you obviously don't." I rambled, cringing at every word I said. What the hell was wrong with me?"Can you give me a few seconds to calm my nerves?" I asked as I pressed my finger to my temple, massaging it."Ok," Sebastian nodded, not at all offended by my crazy act some moments ago.'I can do this. Just apologise and confess that I have trust issues that I have to work on. Easy peasy.' I drew in a large breath and sighed."About our conversation this morning..." I

"You're kidding me, aren't you?" I said, my voice as blank as a piece of plain sheet. And she said I was jumping to conclusions. How had she come up with such a crazy thought out of nowhere?"Oh come on, you're not a child. I could literally touch the chemistry between the two of you the time he came to our house. Sheesh, it was so intense. It's so obvious he finds you attractive." Dorothy squealed, and I rolled my eyes so hard that they almost rolled out of my head. Yup, she was out of her mind."You're crazy. How can you say that? How did you come up with that explanation from the story I told? Please stop joking. This is really important." I scolded.Maybe another day I would have laughed and playfully told her to stop, but I was in no mood. I was in crisis. There was no time to giggle about crushes like we were in high school."I heard what you said, and I can swear that he has the hots for you. I'm sure that's the ulterior motive he meant. He just wants to use this opportunity to

"Where's Mr. Movie Star? I looked for him everywhere, but it looks like he disappeared, poof!" Tiffany wondered as she walked into the kitchen, peering around the room like he was going to pop up out of thin air.'I hope that nickname isn't going to stick around.' I pressed my lips into a thin line as I poured waffle batter into the waffle iron."Sebastian has gone out." I replied, closing it and letting it do its thing."Out? Out where?" She asked, rushing to my side. "Is that waffles? Uhm, I love waffles.""Yes, you do." I grinned, dropping the bowl of waffle batter and turning to her. "And Sebastian has gone to work.""Work? Why does he need to go out to work? You and Dorothy always work at home. Why can't he do that?" She furrowed her brows, and I could almost see the gears in her small brain spinning.I couldn't really fault her for being confused. Dorothy's job didn't require her stepping out of the house. As long as she had her laptop and good wifi, she was good to go. I didn't

'No, this isn't happening. I'm dreaming. I'm still in my room, snuggled under my duvet and having this almost realistic dream.' I told myself as my wide amber eyes stared into blue ones. But it wasn't. It wasn't a dream.Sebastian was standing right in front of me, making my legs tremble under my weight and my stomach full of weird fluttering feelings."I... You... Um..." I stuttered, unable to make a single word. How was I supposed to make a single simple sentence when his finger was stroking my cheek, scrambling my brain?"You mean a lot more to me than you know." He muttered, resting his forehead against mine, and my already banging heart raced faster."H-how?" I breathed, and I would have patted myself on the back for being able to form a single word, but I was too hypnotised by whatever he was doing to me."That's for me to know and for you to find out." He replied, closing the already almost invincible gap between us and trapping me between the kitchen counter and his large body

'Sebastian kissed my cheek!' My heart rate sped up, and a soft pink colour rushed to my face. "I... um... whoa, look at the time. It's, um... quite late, and, um, how did I not know I was, um... yawn sleepy? I'm so sleepy." I blurted, giving a quite dramatic yawn and pressing my hand to my mouth. I jumped up to my feet, and he moved just in time before I knocked him down. "The moving in must have drained more of my energy than I thought. I'm going to bed now. Goodnight!" I yelled, and I ran to my room. 'Sebastian kissed my cheek! I can't believe he did that! I cannot believe he did that!' I squealed in my mind as I slammed my door shut and leaned against it. I placed my finger on the spot he had kissed, and my face turned redder. 'And it was close to my lips. If I or any of us had moved an inch, he would have... Sebastian would have kissed me on the... No! What am I thinking?' I shook my head, clearing away the crazy thoughts. "I shouldn't be thinking those kinds of thoughts.

Sebastian and I were close, so close that my nose twitched at the soft fragrance of detergent on his tank top. My legs were pressed against his, and his skin touching mine sent tingles running through me. His hand was still holding my wrist, and I yanked it out."What was that for?" I frowned, scooting to the other end of the sofa and crossing my arms over my chest.'He could have told me instead of grabbing me. What if I had fallen on his lap? No, I shouldn't think of that. It's too weird and awkward to even think of that.'"I'm sorry, but I didn't want you to leave without saying what was on your mind." Sebastian apologised, turning a little bit to look at me. "So what do you want to tell me?""Oh," I mumbled and dropped my arms. "I just wanted to apologise about Tiffany today. I know you most likely wanted to rest after a long day at work, and she didn't even let you come into the house before jumping on you. It wasn't right, and I'm really sorry it happened.
