Chapter 55

After Carson thanked Lydia, she retired to her room, but was unable to sleep. Though she might have accepted Carson's request, she was nowhere comfortable with it.

Carson wasn't a bad person, but the thought of even pretending to be in a relationship with him haunted her. The memories of how George made her life miserable, had ruined every thought about a good relationship.

She had lost the belief that a loving and perfect relationship could exist. Though they were going to be faking their love as a couple, it didn't make her feel any better.

Lydia rolled to the other side of her bed and sighed. She stared at the white ceiling and swallowed hard.

“I hope you don't ruin this Lydia,” Lydia said to herself but clicked her tongue. “No, you can't do this,” She grasped her hair and whisper-yelled.

She could hardly sleep that night, those thoughts kept burdening her.
