“Alright, here I go,” Lydia said with a nervous smile. The car just parked in front of George's company.

“Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?” Carson asked her with a tilted head.

“Yes, I'll be fine. Besides, I don't want to be a burden”

“You're not” Carson replied, “It's my duty as your attorney, you know”

“There's no case yet, and I hope there won't be”

Carson chuckled, “I have met George only twice, and it looks like I know him better than you”

“Why do you say that?” She asked.

“George is a proud man. He has more confidence in his money than any other thing. He will dare not agree to a woman. He will never subject” he explained.

“Let's hope you are wrong since I don't want to be much of a bother,” Lydia said and Carson breathed out a small laugh

“That night I found you on the bridge, I made it clear to myself and to you that I'll help you. I didn't know why, I have never helped someone who isn't family before, but when I made promises to help you, it wasn't just

Lydia let out a chuckle,“Sign the papers, George. That's the only reason I'm here”. “Are you sure?” George asked in a low voice before adding, “With the way you're dressed, I can hardly believe that didn't come for something more. Lydia, I can let all these stay in the dark, you know, we can always forget something like this ever happened”Lydia shook her head as her mind flashed back to what Carson had said earlier. She wonders if the man has the gift of seeing vision. Wanting to see what George had in mind, she asked, “So, what are you insinuating?” “Let's forget the past, tear the divorce paper, tell that fucking lawyer you don't want to go on with that plan anymore and that you have a better one” “Which is?” She asked and George grabbed her by the waist. “That you want to come back to me. That you still love me. Don't you miss how I make you feel in bed, Lydia” he asked and Lydia giggled, “Mr. George Martins,” she called as she gently stepped back from him, taking his han

Marcus, Carson's client, has not stopped thanking him since the court announced him not guilty. He had actually thought he would lose the case and be sentenced to years in prison. Not until Carson came with some solid proof that Marcus didn't do any of what he was accused of. This shut the other lawyer's mouth immediately. “Thank you so much, Attorney. I don't know what I'll do to ever repay you for this great help,” he said as he shook hands with Carson. “I'll suggest you be good and calm from now on. I mean, you literally made me a fool sometimes, don't let your mouth or pride put you in double trouble. Your anger should be checked along with how you run your mouth in public” Carson advised. The funny thing was, Marcus kept nodding his head obediently. He has seen that he was supposed to rot in jail if not for Carson. “I'll keep that in mind from now on,” Marcus said before Carson excused himself. Walking out of the building, he made his way back to the office. “Good afternoo

He smiled and said, “The way you were dressed today, Lydia, you were just so different. George wouldn't be able to take his eyes off you, that's for sure”. Lydia turned to him, she had a smile on her face. “You know that's all thanks to you” she replied before adding, “I'm sorry about the court case. I thought I could prevent it”. “Trust me, I'm glad we are dragging this to court” he replied“How was your hearing in court?” She asked Carson as he si

“Gary, Gary!” Marian screamed at the top of her voice, making Gary tremble where he was. Marian knew very well that it was Lydia who brought Gary home, but she was screaming so loud to create a scene.“Gary, who brought you home?” Marian asked, but Gary was already crying because of the shock Marian had caused on him. “Marian, why are you screaming so loud? Besides, you should know I brought Gary home” Lydia stated, coming out of the kitchen. “Khloe, please take Gary to the room,” Lydia instructed. She could see the anger in Marian's eyes and knew that this won't end well. “How dare you?!?” Marian shouted, lifting her hand to slap Lydia. Lydia wasn't fast enough to dodge the slap, forming a mark on Lydia's red face. “Haven't I warned you to stay away from Gary? You can never take my place in both father and Son's life, so keep off, you homeless thing” Marian barked angrily, pointing at Lydia. Lydia bent her head with her hand covering her cheek. Carson watched both women as they stared at each other. He could tell that they were not pleased with his decision but he had sure they did that so he kept staring at them. After a while, Lydia shook her head, she knew Marian was never going to make the first move. She didn't want to make the first move either but after all that Mr. Carson has said, she decided to do it herself because she could see that Mr. Carson's words didn't mean anything to Marian. Lydia didn't have a choice as she wanted to make Carson happy. He had done more than enough for her, she didn't want to cause him more trouble. So Lydia grabbed her phone and turned to Marian,"Place your number here," she said handing her phone over to Marian. When Lydia did that, Carson smiled before standing up to leave the table. He knew Lydia would make the right decision. When Carson left, Marian turned to Lydia, "What for, if I may ask? Lydia, stop deceiving yourself. “Mr. Carson, thank you so much. I don't know what I would have done without you. It's not as if we are related or something. You just made many sacrifices for myself and Helen. She is still thrilled at why Carson always helps her, even when she didn't have anything to give to him in return.“Lydia, it's alright. I am glad you are happy and comfortable. And mostly, you are beginning to stand up for yourself.” Carson praised her with a smile, he placed his hand on her shoulder and said, “So please be up on time, prepare Khloé on time, and head straight to the company the moment you drop Khloé up. You know, first impressions matter a lot”.“Of course,” Lydia breathed out, “I will do that, Mr. Carson. Let me go take my bath and head straight to bed.”The moment Lydia left, Mr. Carson's office, he picked up his phone to make a call.He stared at the phone for a long time, he was full with so much thought. The next morning, Lydia woke up by Carson's side. She had a beautiful and joyful smile on her lips. Waking up by his side was the most amazing thing ever, and the scent of cologne was still on him. She brought her nose close to his chest and nuzzled him. Lydia grinned and raised her hand, she stared at the beautiful ring. “My name is Mrs. Lydia Walters' Lydia chuckled and kissed her ring. “It's so beautiful.” She was still staring at her ring when she suddenly had the urge to vomit, she touched her stomach as it churned. “Did I eat something wrong yesterday? Lydia pouted her lips. The nauseating feeling stopped for a while, but then the bile rushed up her throat and she couldn't keep it in. She rushed out of the bed and threw up into the sink. The sounds of vomiting woke Carson up. He wanted to sleep back but realized something was wrong with his wife. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. He asked her, worriedly. “Love, are you alright?” He still heard her throwing up and had to

Carson turned back with a little smile on his lips, his threats had worked. He wasn't planning on doing any of those things he said, but he decided to act as one of the bad guys. One can't stick to a technique and tactic all the time. Carson returned to his seat and called a prison warder inside to listen to what he had said. Carson also brought out his phone and decided to make a recording. “Can you repeat what you had said?” Carson requested. The man sighed and said everything that had transpired between him and Alma. Carson was delighted and left from there as the warder was taken away. He was going to face his penalty. Carson contacted the police to visit George's house where Alma stayed and also to arrest Felix in his house. Carson planned on also releasing the recording through his Father's connections. George had killed a man, strangled him during the traffic, and taken his cab as a means of transportation. Presently, he walked to Mrs. Isobel's limp body and carried her into the back seat of the cab. He closed the door and entered the front seat. He wasn't ready to drive her anywhere in particular, he would make sure that he was far from a place where the cops could find him. He would question her in the car, but he had to wait till she awakened. He had planned to lie to Alma that he couldn't stand the boredom and had to leave the cabin. Anyway, she believed every lie he spoke.George drove for a long while before parking near a certain roadside, he waited till she awakened, which happened a few minutes after the drive. “Hm,” Mrs. Isobel moaned in pain. She felt a pounding pain in the back of her head, her hand reached for it and there was a little bloodstain. “Oh my God” She cried and slowly sat up, her blurry eyes cleared little by little. “Who are you?” Mrs. Isobel asked i

“Why are you smirking? Do you find the situation amusing or what?” Alma frowned at him. “I'm sorry, but I've thought about my decision, and I'm ready to accept your suggestion for plastic surgery,” George stuttered.Alma screamed excitedly and hugged him tightly.“That's the spirit, I'm so glad that you have thought more carefully about my proposal. I promise you that once you do this surgery and probably practice how to change other things about yourself. Everything would be great” Alma giggled. “The cops would be off your back and the both of us can travel the world after our wedding.” George rolled his eyes but faked a laugh. “I won't do the surgery now, give me some time to have my face then after a few days from now, I can do the surgery” George smiled and pushed her away from him. “I'm so happy” Alma clapped excitedly and tilted her head from side to side like a child. “I'm not too happy about losing my handsome face, but it's worth the change,” George said and acted like

“No, I'm not interested in altering my appearance” George disagreed firmly. “Why? It's a suitable option for you never to be found, why would you lose such a chance, just to stay locked up in this wretched cabin” Alma argued with him. “I'm not interested in continuing the conversation, I won't change my appearance to fort anything in this world. The best thing I love seeing when I look at my reflection in the mirror is my face and nothing more” George said and turned his face away from her. Alma gasped and was offended by his selfishness. “I want you to have a free life, we can fake your death that you were found and killed. It would make a lot of sense when I start dating the new you. Why are you acting so selfishly towards me?” Alma said, her voice cracking at the end of her statement. “I'm not being selfish but standing by my own rules. I get that you went the extra mile to bring me out of jail, but that doesn't give you the right to order me around” George frowned. Alma gasp

“What did you just say?” Lydia panicked and sprang up. That news was so unexpected and shocking, she never expected to hear that the man who had ruined her life was out of prison, free to do the unimaginable. “How did he come out of prison? What exactly happened?” Evelyn asked, worried over the safety of Lydia. Carson shook his head. “I still don't know, but I'm going to that fucking prison to find out.” “How can he escape in just a week of being there? Many people have spent a decade trying to escape prison but haven't been able to, how can he make it seem so easy?” Evelyn asked questions that couldn't be answered by any of them. “The kids, we left the kids alone,” Lydia said agitated, and tried running out of the church. Carson held her back and pulled her into a hug. She was anxious, and her breathing had fastened like she was on the verge of having a panic attack. “There's nothing to be scared about, the children are secured, but George can be capricious. The kids were done with their exams, and they were at home. It was the weekend, Saturday specifically, and Lydia stayed at home. The kids weren't easy to control at all, Lydia realized how much they refused to listen to her. They listened more to Mrs. Isobel. This made Lydia a bit jealous and angry. She had to give Mrs. Isobel some hours off so that she could take care of the kids herself. “Both of you, sit down!” Lydia instructed and pointed at the couch. Gary and Khloé went to have a sit, seeing that their mother was more serious than ever. “It's not good to prove stubborn towards your parents, it causes sadness. Do you want Mommy to be sad?” Lydia pouted at her lips after speaking. They both shook their heads. “Alright, since you don't want me to be sad, then listen,” Lydia said. “It's truly depressing when I keep talking and you both keep disrespecting me by not listening!” “What are you supposed to do?” Lydia asked, looking angry, though she wasn't so angry.
