Hello, sorry I've been on hiatus for quite a while. I've been distracted by this and that, and could barely find the time to write, but eventually I finished this chapter. Hope all of you haven't forgotten about this story. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Fortunately Matthew managed to persuade Arabella to return home before nightfall, so he could keep his promise to accompany Maggie at dinner. However, he could hardly enjoy their moment together, for he'd been plagued by the task of having to tell Maggie about his leaving. It was bad enough to see her disappointment, but even worse was the guilt of having to lie to her again. Eventually he managed to steel himself and come up with a story that he needed to supervise the restoration of his small yet lavish inn in Yorkshire, that recently suffered from fire damage. As expected, Maggie was quite taken aback by the news.

"Matthew, do you really need to go? You can send Bill or another staff member to supervise the repair."

Hello, sorry for the slow progress. I'm doing my best to keep up. Hope you enjoy this chapter and let me know what you think. It had only been two days since Matthew departed but Marguerite felt like it had been two long weeks. She had been missing him badly and feeling so lonely in his absence, so this morning she decided to have breakfast with Wagner in the kitchen. Feeling sorry for her, Cook had pampered her with a selection of her favorite pastries, but the delicious treats could do little to dispel Marguerite's dejection. She stared gloomily at the little cakes and pop tarts on her plate. They looked and smelled divine, but she just couldn't muster enough appetite to feast on them."Maggie, is there something bothering you?"Wagner's voice broke the silence. Marguerite lifted her gaze to meet his observant eyes. "Bill, do you think Matthew is really going to check his property?" She brought herself to ask. Wagner took a moment to consider his reply."Maggie, Matthew has never l

Hello my beloved readers! Hope you're still following this story. It's been difficult to update regularly but I will do my best to keep the story going. Anyway I hope you like this chapter, and for Jacob's fans, I have to remind you again that Matthew is the main lead and therefore the story will revolve around him. But I do love Jacob too, and he will be making an appearance later. And Maggie too, but in this chapter and maybe the next two chapters, Arabella will be dominating the page. I hope you're okay with that. Please leave your comments because your opinion and support is what keeps me writing. Love and cherish all and each one of you. When Arabella awoke the next morning, she found herself alone in the quiet room. The sofa across the room was empty, and the worn blanket that Matthew had used last night had been neatly folded and draped over the armrest. Quickly she pushed herself up onto her elbow and peered around the room. Her heart did stop for a second when she spotted a l

Dear my beloved readers, I know this part of the story will upset some of you, but I think making mistakes is an essential part of character development. If you have read my first book Disgraceful, you should have known that the hero is also fatally flawed. However I hope Matthew's mistakes don't make him irredeemable and eventually you'll be able to forgive him. Enjoy this chapter, and please be warned that this chapter contains mature themes.Stolen Innocence From the moment she emerged out of the water, and all the way to the edge of the lake, Arabella couldn't stop laughing at the silliness of the situation. At the moment, Matthew realized how he loved seeing her bright, happy face and hearing her infectious laughter. He had to admit that no one else could make him feel so alive. Not even Maggie. And her beauty never ceases to amaze him time and again, no matter how often he's seen her. He'd seen her in her finest clothes, and now, soaking from head to toe, she fascinated him no

Falling Into Temptation "Bella, if I had known, I wouldn't have dared to ruin you!" His genuine remorse earned a frown from her."You cannot ruin me, Matthew. No man can ruin a woman."She slid down the desk and stood in front of him, looking up to him with a firm, steady gaze."I chose you to be my first man, not the other way around.""What are you saying? Bella, we should be getting married very soon!""Never in a million years!"She spurned the proposal with a chuckle. Stung, he looked at her in disbelief."What do you mean?! Bella, I've taken your honor!""Nonsense. I don't believe that a woman's honor is in a small layer inside her body. Virginity is a ridiculous concept created by men to degrade women, to deceive women into believing her worth can be measured by a mere bodily part. An useless one, I might add. Jeez, it's not even an organ.""I don't understand. If you don't want to get married then why- why we..." "It has nothing to do with marriage. You should know, much as

A Daring Venture "May I ask what brings you here at this hour?"The question reminded Marguerite of the purpose of her daring venture. In normal circumstances, she wouldn't have dreamed of breaking her promise to the man she loved, but the unexpected turn of events had left her with no other option."I.. I know this is inappropriate, but there's a rather urgent matter.""This is not inappropriate. This is outrageous."Mannheim's frank reply made her blush with embarrassment."I have no choice. I can't think of anyone else to ask for help.""Wait, first I want to know how you managed to find me?""I searched your address in the membership book." She admitted with a touch of guilt, but the corner of his lips slightly pulled up into a faint smile, as if he found it amusing."Alright. Now what was so urgent it couldn't wait until morning?""I'll explain it to you, but can I sit first?"At her question, Mannheim's smile widened into a grin, and he gestured towards the sofa."Of course. Dear readers, please be warned that this chapter contains mature themes and some of the scenes might be too raunchy for some of you. If you are not into graphic sexual description, please just skip this chapter. I will provide a brief summary of this chapter in the next one. Under The Siren's SpellUsually, not even the most tempting aroma of freshly brewed coffee or baked cone could make it easier for Matthew to wake up in the morning, but the feel of the warm, soft female body atop him immediately awakened him. He stirred and peered at the beautiful face before him."Good morning." She rested her chin on his chest, pillowed on her folded hands. A sweet smile tugged at her lips. "I believe you slept well. You snore louder than a banshee.""Sorry. Did I keep you awake?" He grinned, running his hand along her spine. "You did. For an entirely different reason." Her eyes gleamed with a mischievous light."You kept me wanting all night."She started to move her naked body against him,

"I've never seen such beautiful dresses as these, Miss. You will look terrific in them. Why don't you try them on?" Mary's cheerful voice snapped Marguerite from her sad musings. She turned to see her maid picking a muslin dress in her favorite color and showed it to her with a wide expectant grin. Any woman would leap in joy, but Marguerite just shook her head. As her maid turned to put the dress back in place, Marguerite glanced listlessly at the colorful stack of thirty brand new dresses inside her closet. Today her order from Madame Le Veaux had just shipped and Mary had just done storing them in her closet, but even a wardrobe full of beautiful dresses could do little to dispel the gloom in her heart. Mary's brows furrowed with concern as she watched Marguerite, then she tried again,"How about I ask Cook to make your favorite strawberry cheese tart?" "I don't feel like eating."Her maid cast a pitiful look at her and left her alone. Wrapped in her shabby old shawl, she reclin

Matthew and Arabella spent the rest of the journey exploring each other's body in every conceivable way, discovering new things as they continued making love whenever they could. The last couple of days had been pure, erotic bliss. Matthew couldn't understand how it kept getting better and better. Every climax was more explosive than before. The more they made love, the more they craved each other's body. Their cravings for each other seemed to know no bounds. One day, they decided to delay their trip and spend the entire day making love on every surface of the rented room. They left the bed only to go to the restroom, they barely ate, too consumed by their other needs. Throughout their endless intercourses, Matthew found out that Arabella was a bold, adventurous lover that was willing to try anything at all. Much as it excited him, the fact that she seemed to be too experienced for a virgin intrigued and annoyed him. So, in the languid aftermath of their vigorous exertion, he mustere

The next morning, Marguerite wrestled her luggage out of her room, hoping to slip away before anyone awoke. Not anger, but something far more insidious fueled her haste. Sleep had evaded her the prior night. A torrent of rage had engulfed her initially, but as the hours bled into dawn, a sobering train of thought infiltrated the red mist. What was the true source of her anger? Was it Jacob's self-serving motives, or the fact that he'd shoved the ugly truth in her face, shattering the fragile hope she'd built through denial? The answer, a sudden flash of deep knowledge, hit her like a ton of bricks. The anger she'd displayed had been a mere facade. A mask for the real emotion lurking beneath ~ fear. Fear of the feelings Jacob had unearthed, emotions that threatened to lead her down a dangerous path.Shaken by the realization, her first instinct was to escape. A desperate flight before reason abandoned her entirely. Last night, she'd been swept away by his allure. How long could she re

The next day, late in the afternoon, Jacob led Marguerite on a winding tour of the estate. As they strolled the stone path in the garden, Marguerite tilted her head up, admiring the towering trees above them. Sunlight dappled through the leaves, casting shifting patterns on the ground. "Jake, I've heard rumors about your far-flung voyage across Europe and the Middle East, is that true?" Marguerite broke the silence. Her question sounded innocent, but a flicker of something in her eyes betrayed a deeper curiosity."Indeed," he replied, "There was even a year where I barely touched home soil.""The allure of the unknown, experiencing new cultures and faces, it must be intoxicating," Her voice trailed off, her gaze flickering to his face, searching for a deeper emotion beneath the surface."But have you ever missed home amidst your adventures?"A flicker of sadness, as fleeting as a shooting star, crossed his features before a wry smile tugged at the corner of his lips. When Marguerite entered the dining room later, a hint of vanilla and cinnamon danced in the air, mingling with the sweet perfume of the crimson roses that adorned the table's center. A dozen candles flickered softly, their warm glow painting the brick walls with the shimmering light of a thousand fireflies. The soft crackle of the fireplace added a comforting soundtrack to the ambiance. Linen napkins lay folded beside gleaming silverware, the perfect finishing touch to this romantic setting.Across the room, Jacob awaited her at a small round table draped in a snowy tablecloth. As she approached, he rose to his feet with a flourish, pulling out her chair with a practiced ease. His chivalrous demeanor fit perfectly with his previous image as a master of seduction.Yet, Marguerite had discovered a glimpse of something deeper beneath his carefree facade. Tonight, determined to explore this hidden side, Marguerite settled into her seat, anticipation simmering in the candlelit air. She pic

At the bottom, the butler materialized to guide them to the dining room, where the Duke and the duchess awaited. The duchess, a ravishing woman in her early forties, rose from her seat to welcome them. "I've heard the fascinating story about your connection to my husband's long-lost brother. What an incredible stroke of luck! The two of you are a real godsend!""Your Grace, you are far too kind," Marguerite replied, attempting a curtsy despite the duchess' attempt to stop her."Nonsense with formalities, Miss Goddard. Marguerite, may I call you that?""Of course, Your Grace," Marguerite said with a touch of amusement. "Just call me Maggie.""Then Maggie it is," the duchess declared, a warm smile gracing her lips. "And you, my dear, may call me Ava."Despite their recent acquaintance, Marguerite felt an inexplicable kinship with the duchess. As their conversation flowed, the duchess divulged a curious story."Years before my husband even knew he had a brother," she began, a hint of so

The Duke of Vermont paused just inside the doorway, surveying his unexpected guests. A young, attractive couple, clad in disheveled clothes, gawked at him, too stunned to offer a polite greeting."Have we met?" His question jolted them from their stupor.Marguerite and Jacob exchanged a bewildered glance, neither able to offer an immediate answer. The man standing before them was a mirror image of Matthew, a mature version with the same build and nearly identical face. The same eyes, an impossibly rare shade of blue, the same nose, the same strong jawline – It was Matthew's face, aged to perfection. Even his voice, a deep, rich rumble, echoed Matthew's own, the only difference being his mane of silver hair, a stark contrast to Matthew's raven locks.A beat of awkward silence passed before Jacob finally spoke, "Forgive me, Your Grace," he hesitated, "There's a... a certain resemblance we noticed between you and someone we know.""A resemblance, you say?" the Duke inquired, a hint of a

The walk took about thirty minutes, and by the time they arrived, Marguerite's stomach was grumbling loudly. Despite the hunger pangs, she pressed on. Just as a wave of faintness washed over her, they reached the bustling market. Jacob, ever observant, noticed Marguerite's pale face and stopped short."Maggie, are you okay?" he asked with concern."I'm feeling a bit lightheaded," she admitted. "Maybe I need to sit down."Jacob gently took Chester from her arms and offered Marguerite his other arm for support. His firm grip steadied her as he guided her to a nearby bench."Don't worry," he assured her, "We'll find a doctor if you need one." He carefully placed Chester on the bench and helped her sit."No

Guilt twisted like a viper as she questioned sending Jacob back in. Relief washed over her in a tidal wave when a moment later Jacob emerged from the entrance, his soot-streaked face etched with grim determination. A whimper drew her attention to a small, trembling form nestled in his arms – Chester. "Jake! Thank goodness!"Returning the child in her arms to its mother, Marguerite sprinted toward them. Oblivious to the true source of her panic, Jacob mistook her frantic dash to him for concern over the puppy.
