It was like Favian knew what was going to happen. It was like he saw it and told me about it. How can it be?
When I raised my head, Coral and Nathan were sitting down. I could swear that they were not going to come back after what happened last night, and after Favian warned them not to talk about it again, but they never listened.
" What are you two doing here?" I asked.
" You have no right to question my guest; I was the one who invited them here," His mother said.
I looked at Fabian, but he did not make a move; he stood there as he watched me, expecting me to say something or do something, but it seemed like my legs were tied to the ground, and my tongue seized as well.
I looked at him again, I saw that anger in his face. Like he was going to yell at me for standing there and not saying anything.
" Why would you do such a thing? They have no business coming into this house; why would you bring them here? I do not want to ever see them here again" I yelled.
It was the first time I was speaking like that. I had not spoken like that before and it came as a shock to everyone that was there.
Nathan was shocked as he looked at me like I was someone else.
" I told you that she is capable of doing so many things; you all are the ones blind to the things she is capable of doing," Coral said.
It got me angry, so I walked to where she was and faced her.
" Do not dare say anything like that to me ever again. I am not like you, who lied so Nathan could get me out of his life so you could come in, but sadly, you are not still crowned the Luna of the Pack. While I am here, crowned as the Luna" I said.
I loved that I was saying those words. I could see the anger on their faces.
" I will not accept it. He has not found an heir and he will find one. You are not recognized"
" I may not be recognized as the Luna to you, but I am recognized as the Luna to everyone around here," I said.
Nathan stood up and walked to where Fabian was.
" I know how much your father kept this pack together, and that is what you were meant to do, but you have refused to do that; your life is under threat; you must send her away to be free from the damage she is going to cause," He said.
For the first time in a long time, I had a good laugh. It was funny to me. They all turned and looked at me.
" There is nothing that is going to go wrong here, and that is because I did nothing to you in the first place. You lied against me and now you think you can throw me out of here as well?" I rolled my eyes.
They were all surprised to see me that way. They have never seen me talk back to them like that.
It was always me begging them to let me.
" What have you done to her? She has to leave this place. You are not ready for what she is going to do to you the moment you let her stay here" Nathan became restless.
He was talking to Favian at first when he saw that Favian was not saying anything to him. He left him and went to Favian's mother.
" Queen Luna, you have to do something about this. She was exiled from our Pack because of what she did, she does not have to stay here. Your son made a mistake and it can be corrected. You can do something about this" he said.
I wondered why he wanted me to be taken out of there so badly. He has never liked me, and I wonder why he would not let me be now that I am in another place.
He had always had his attention and eyes on Coral instead. Now that his father was no longer on the way and I was out of the way as well, I wondered why he could not go ahead and make her his Luna.
It got me angry as I thought of it.
" What do you want from me? I am no longer the Luna of your Pack like the way your father wanted. You have always wanted Coral, now that you have her, you are still coming after me? To what end? You have what you have always wanted; you should be happy about that," I said.
There was silence in the room. Coral was uncomfortable. I could see the discomfort she was feeling.
" I am only here because someone like you should not stay with others. You are going to keep killing people wherever you go; you should be in the woods, live there, until you die there, you murderer," He said.
That was the last straw. Favian has been silent. He did not want to get involved in it and that was because he was trying to make me talk and defend myself.
" one more word from you and you will be a dead Alpha. How dare you? You accuse her, you still come here to make her feel miserable? You can not bear to see that she is happy?" His eyes were turning red as he spoke.
He was a powerful wolf, and he was trying to control himself so he would not do what he would regret.
Nathan could not say anything, part of him was scared to talk back to Favian. He looked at Coral.
" We have to go home" He held her hands as they both left.
I saw the way Queen Luna kept looking at me. I did not care. She was free to look at me the way she pleased.
" Favian, As long as I am here, you do not have a mate, you do not have anyone as well. You have to find a mate, a real mate that can be recognized by the people, not someone who has an uncleared accusation on her name. You are going to make us look bad for having her here; we have grown this far for such mockery," She spat.
From where I was, I could feel and see the disgust that was in her eyes for me. I could see the amount of hate that she had for me; it was something I could not fight with love. I'll have to let her be.
" Mother, whatever you say is none of my business, as long as I am concerned. I do have a mate, and we are going to bring the next Alpha of this Pack together," He said and walked away from his mother.
I could not stay there and watch her. Her eyes alone were enough reason why I could not stay there.
I left there for my room. I stayed on the bed, eyes were opened as I thought about what was wrong with me and why I had several people fighting me.
There was a knock on the door. I feared that it might be the Queen Luna who was knocking. I feared that she must have sent someone to harm me.
I walked to the door and stood there. I was not going to open the door so fast.
" Who's there?" I asked.
" It's Elsie," the person answered.
I was confused, I had no idea who that was.
" What do you want?" I asked her.
" I have to be in this room. You should leave" she said.
There were a lot of things that ran through my head at that moment.
I could not believe what I was hearing. It made me open the door.
There stood a pretty girl by the door. I had no idea who she was or where she was coming from.
" This is my room; I was given this room to stay in, except you want to share, which is okay by me," I said.
She shook her head.
" I am supposed to be here; this is the room she pointed to, right?" She looked around her.
It seemed she was confused and I wondered who showed her the rooms here. I was tempted to ask her who she was and where she was coming from but I remembered that I was a stranger here.
I began hearing footsteps approaching. It was the same time Favian came out of his room, he must have been listening to our conversation.
" What is going on here?" He asked.
His mother looked at him and sighed.
" You have refused to get a Luna, I have brought one for you. She's Elsie and she is your Luna"
I felt like I was in another place, not the place I was a few hours ago. What the hell was she talking about?
I stood in the corner of the courtyard, watching the pack celebrate under the silver moonlight. It should have been a special night, our first anniversary. I should have been proud and happy to be standing by Nathan’s side, but instead, I felt invisible, as I always did. Nathan hadn’t looked at me once, not since the night started. His eyes were constantly on Coral, laughing with her, leaning in to hear her every word. The sight twisted something deep inside me, but I bit my tongue and tried to ignore it. Nathan wouldn’t do me like that, right? For a year, I had lived like this. Ever since we were mated, Nathan had been distant and cold. He didn’t want me, and he didn’t bother to pretend otherwise. But his father, Alpha George, had insisted that we be joined, and Nathan had obeyed out of duty. Not love. Never love. I kept telling myself that things would change, that Nathan would see me one day, see me as more than a burden he had to carry because of his father’s dying wish. See me a
The moment the sun broke over the horizon, I was dragged out of the gates of the Moonbeam Pack like a traitor. The cold morning air bit at my skin, but nothing compared to the chill inside me. I stumbled forward, my bare feet scraping against the rough ground, but I didn’t look back. What was there to see? The place I had once called home had betrayed me. My mate had rejected me, and now I was alone. “Rowena!” I snapped around the moment I heard Nathan’s voice. He had finally come to his senses. “Nathan, why did you allow them to do this to me? You’ve always known that I’m innocent, so why did you let me suffer?” I sobbed, wanting to run into his arms, but the ropes that bound my hands held me back. Not to mention, I felt very weak. “The only reason I’m letting you get exiled is because my father loved you. Otherwise, you would have gotten the death sentence! Never step foot in this pack, else, I would kill you with my bare hands!” He growled, and the mad look in his eyes ma
When I opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was the softness beneath me. The mattress cradled my aching body, and for a moment, I thought I was still dreaming. Then the memories of last night came crashing back… being cast out, stumbling through the woods, the bar, the drunken men... and the wolf. I shot upright in bed, my heart pounding in my chest. I wasn’t in the woods, and I certainly wasn’t in that grimy bar. Instead, I found myself in a large, luxurious room. The walls were painted a soothing cream color and adorned with elegant paintings and expensive-looking decorations. A plush, velvet armchair sat near the window, and the scent of freshly cooked food wafted from a table in the center of the room.I looked down at myself and realized my tattered dress was gone. In its place was a soft, silken robe that draped over my body. Someone had changed me while I was unconscious. I started to panic.Where am I? The soft fabric of the dress caressed my skin as I walked through the grand hall, my arm linked with Favian’s. I had never worn anything this beautiful in my life. The gown was a deep emerald green, shimmering under the soft lights as if it were alive. I felt elegant, powerful, like someone worth admiring. It was a far cry from the ragged woman I had been only days ago.Favian’s hand gripped mine gently, but there was a firmness to it, and it made me feel safe. This was no ordinary night, it was my introduction to the world as his mate, as Luna of the Furbloom Pack. My heart pounded in my chest as we stepped further into the crowd, where Alphas and Lunas from far and wide had gathered. They watched us with curious eyes, whispers buzzing like bees as we made our way to the center of the grand event.I could feel their eyes on me, but tonight, for the first time in a long while, I didn’t feel small or ashamed. I felt proud. When we reached the stage, Favian’s grip on my hand tightened,
The house looked like I had just poured silence on it. This silence hit everywhere after Nathan and Coral had gone. I was once defended again and it made me feel good. I was happy that someone could raise his voice to save me. I woke up that morning feeling all my body in one piece. I touched the bed, this was one thing that stood out as well. I frowned when I remembered the activities of the previous day. I got up and slowly walked out of the room. I did not want to be the one who would make the noise. I silently walked to the sitting room where there seemed to be a lot of tension between Favian and his mother. My heart skipped. Maybe I must have slept so deeply that I did not hear them argue. I knew they were arguing and it seemed it was about me. I could tell that, I could tell from the way his mother looked at me.I hated it, it made me feel like I was the reason for all her misfortune.
