Scarlett
I knew it was probably PJ that sent someone here, but I was not letting him or any of his people get to Caleb. Once I knew Caleb was down on the ground and safe, I crawled over to the window and looked out. I could see only one person, and they were reloading their gun. I knew this was the best for me to take my shot.
I lined my gun up where I needed it, resting my hand on the trigger. I had to breathe for a moment because it had been a while since I had used a gun and shot someone.
I’ve never been a fan of having to shoot anyone, but I can’t let this go. I can’t allow this person to leave or get away with shooting towards Caleb. I don’t even know if he has been hurt. I will check him over as soon as I’m finished here.
Still aiming at the exact same spot, I saw the figure move, so I gently began squeezing my trigger finger until it was f
Caleb“Scarlett, I know we have literally just got into the room, but can we talk now?” I asked.“Yes, we can,” she smiled. “I’m going to make a cuppa tea. Then we can talk. Do you want one?” Scarlett asked.“Yes, please, that would be nice,” I answered.I’m not sure if she is trying to stall this chat we are meant to be having, but she is filtering about a lot.“Do you want sugar, Caleb? She asked.“Yes, please, I’ll have two.” I smiled at her.I can feel myself getting more and more anxious as I wait for her to come over. I don’t want her to feel betrayed by me because I haven’t told her the truth about my past before now.She came over and sat down the tea before si
Scarlett I hadn’t slept a wink, and the sun was starting to rise. I hadn’t slept because I was on edge all night. I was scared in case someone found us, but on top of that, I was nervous because I didn’t know what Caleb was going to do. Is he going to leave me?I have sat on the sofa all night, only moving when needed.“Scarlett, will you please come to bed and try to get some sleep?” I hear from behind me.“I am fine,” I said, not looking at him.“Scarlett, get your ass into bed and get some sleep, or God help me, I will come over there, toss you over my shoulder and carry you there,” he said firmly.I just sat there staring at the wall. I wasn’t ignoring him on purpose; I was just stuck in a daze. Then I heard a throat clearing next to me, my headshot round in one d
Caleb We pulled up outside of Scarlett’s place, both on edge and looking around.“Right, let’s get in here quickly and get what I need,” Scarlett said.We had one last look around, and everything seemed clear. We rushed in, but when we got there, her front door was kicked in.“Stay behind me,” she said. She took the gun from her back, holding it in position, and we cautiously made our way in. The place was trashed! The home was ransacked. We walked around checking the place one room at a time to ensure that nobody was there. The place was a mess.“We are all good. No one is here.” Scarlett said.“OK, let’s get your stuff and get out of here,” I replied.“I’m not sure that anything has been taken
Scarlett I don’t understand what is happening. Why is my head all fuzzy, and why do I feel so out of it? I don’t even remember what I was doing, but it feels like I’m sitting down, maybe in a chair, but my hands feel really tight. I can hear voices in the distance, so maybe someone can help me if I call out. I tried to shout, but all that came out was a noise of some sort. I was definitely gagged. I couldn’t stop thinking, what was going on? Footsteps were getting closer to me, and my fuzzy head and brain fog was beginning to clear. The last thing I can recall was standing at the boot of my car, looking for a map. Caleb, where is Caleb? What on earth is going on here? “Hello, sweetness, did you miss me?” I hear a familiar voice laugh. PJ! He did this to me! I started st
ScarlettI woke to the sound of my alarm, it was only six a.m., but I don’t mind the early mornings. I have always been a morning person. I switched it off before sitting up and stretching. I checked my phone, seeing a text from an unknown number. I had no idea who it was because anyone who has my number I have theirs. There was only one way to find out, isn’t there? I opened the text, and as soon as I read it, I felt sick to my stomach. I knew straight away who it was, a person I hoped that I would never have to hear from ever again.Remember, you owe me and now is the time to pay your debt back. We need to meet. PJHow did you get my number? I thought we were done!! SI need another something completed PJ X You said I was done S Things change! You either meet me where I tell you too, or I will show up at your door. PJ How does he know w
Caleb I shot awake, sweating and breathing loudly. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. This was nothing unusual for me; it was a common occurrence for me, has been for the last few years. I checked the time, seeing it was six a.m., nearly time for my alarm for work. I only fell asleep two hours ago. I was used to it by now. I was used to the nightmares and my past haunting me. I sighed, running my fingers through my dark hair. I don’t think these night terrors will ever stop. There was no point in going back to sleep. I may as well get up and get ready for my day ahead. After having a roasting shower and a strong, sizeable black coffee, I leave for work. I walk there most days as the coffee shop isn’t too far from my house. I cannot wait to open up and have another coffee before I get started. I am used to having a few morning coffees with these late nights and early rises to get my day st
ScarlettIt was already ten a.m., but I was exhausted due to not sleeping last night because of the dread of meeting PJ today. I haven’t seen him in a year, and he made me believe I would never have to see him again. I should have known better. My anxiety was through the roof, just thinking about seeing him again. I wish I could just run, but that wouldn’t work because he would find me. The best thing for me to do was to do as he asks, and then hopefully, after that, he will leave me alone and let me get on with life.I know that I should take my car as it would be safer and more accessible for me to get away if I needed to, but the place he wants to meet is five minutes around the corner from my house. I am sure he chose somewhere close on purpose. The time is now creeping past ten forty-five. I need to leave because late is something I cannot be. So I lock the door, fruit smoothie i
Caleb Surprisingly I had an excellent sleep last night; I think having two days off together has helped me. I spent my days doing everything I wanted to do, between catching up with some good documentaries I had recorded and gone to the gym to get my workouts and self-defence better. Having some me-time is the thing I need to do more often. I skip out the door at nine-fifteen to go to work, starting at ten a.m. on a sunny Sunday makes me happy. Sunday’s were never too busy, but it gave us time to make sure everything was ready for the week ahead of us.I was opening today; my boss doesn’t work Sundays, only one of the other guys and me usually. My colleague Nate was waiting for me to arrive.“Good morning Nate, how are you on this beautiful Sunday morning?” I said happily.“I am good, bud, thanks,” He smiled, “What has got you so happy? Did
