Cerelia’s POV
I opened my bleary eyes to the sound of footsteps outside. I knew they were returning to torture me again, but I had hardly recovered from the previous ordeal. After they left, the pain was unbearable, making me almost lose my senses. Yet I struggled to stay awake in case they returned to punish me. Ever since they left, no one bothered even to give me water. I hoisted myself to face them again. With no nourishment in my system, my reserves were already down. Would I be able to summon my weapons again?
The door flew open just like earlier and this time, all four of them entered my cell. I rose to face them all over again. “Well, bi*ch, are you ready to please us?” growled Dan.
“Never!” I snarled at him, focusing on his mind to manipulate him with illusions.
‘The female has a contagious disease that will kill you. Stay away from her.’ Dan staggered backward while the others approached me.
“Stay back or I’ll rip you apart.” I tried to summon another blade but fell short on my power reserves. They laughed, mimicking my futile threat.
“Oh, come on, it will be fun!” said one of them.
“I have canine rabies. It’ll be fun to spread my germs to you.”
“Oh, do you now? I don’t mind at all,” said Dan, my lie not affecting him at all.
I now had only one way to save myself. It would surely kill me, but at least it would save my honor. I curled up into a ball and gathered all the energy left in my body. Converting it into electric impulses, I transmitted it all over myself.
“What the f*ck is she up to?” They stopped in confusion.
Dan touched me, only to yelp with shock as a wave of electric current shot up his arm. “Shit! She’s charged up. Don’t touch her or..” But another one of them had already touched me and got electrocuted. He froze at the spot while the others stepped backwards.
“What is happening?” asked another.
“She’s a witch, I think. Let her rot here until Alpha Zephyrus arrives. I doubt he ever will.” They broke the lights in their fury, plunging the room into darkness before leaving. I lost my only source of energy. Soon I would use up all my reserves. Then how would I save myself from these four devils? They would surely return to check up on me.
I wished death would save me from them, but I ended up in a stupor instead.
Just as I had predicted, after an hour, they returned to find me in the same condition. Dan kicked me in frustration, only to get electrocuted in return.
“B*tch! Starve to death.” Thankfully, they left me alone. As the hours passed by, all the energy drained out of me, leaving me totally vulnerable, with no way to save myself now. The feat had taken a toll on my health and I hovered on the brink of unconsciousness.
The door clicked open, and I trembled in fear, knowing how defenseless I was now. I heard footsteps approaching me, but I couldn’t open my eyes out of fear. It was better to curl up into a ball again to fool them. Would they touch me again to check?
However, this time, I heard a soothing female voice accompanying a male one. “Why is the cell so dark? Where are the lights, Dan?” growled an angry female voice, and I strained my ears to listen. Who was she?
I opened my eyes slowly to see a humongous male accompanied by a pregnant female inside my cell. Who were they? Did they come here to punish me? Yet they emitted an aura of hope. Maybe I was hallucinating in my drowsy state. How could I trust the Lucerians? They were the worst pack on earth!
“The fuse blew off last night, Luna.” A helpless whimper left my mouth on realizing who she was. I wanted to inform them of the truth but hardly found my voice. The feat earlier had sapped all my energy out of my body.
“Why hasn’t it been fixed yet?”
“I’m sorry, Luna. I’ll get it fixed by tomorrow.”
“No, fix it right now.” Dan hesitated while I listened intently.
“It isn’t possible since our electrician isn’t available now.”
“Get me a new light. I’ll fix it,” growled the male, who had to be Alpha Zephyrus. Dan rushed to do his bidding and soon returned with a new bulb. Alpha Zephyrus fixed it in no time, and the cell was bathed in light once again.
A gasp escaped them at the sight of me, and they approached me cautiously.
“I want to talk to her alone,” said the Luna in a motherly tone. It instilled hope in me, a hope of being rescued from this hellhole.
“Be careful, Luna. She might attack you. It’s a wild thing!” Dan warned, glaring at me with hatred. I could see the death threat in his eyes, forbidding me to open my mouth to give him away.
“Yes, Lena. It’s not safe for you to tackle her in your condition.” My heart sank at the Alpha’s warning. Would she give up and go away?
‘Please don’t leave me here!’ I tried to connect to the Luna but couldn’t. There wasn’t a drop of energy left in me. I was dying.
“She’s harmless, trust me. Please, can you both step out, Alpha?” said the Luna while I watched her helplessly.
“I’ll find out what’s going on here,” said Alpha Zephyrus, on his way out. The Luna closed the door after them and turned to face me.
I looked up at her, and then around the room to ensure no one was around.
“No one’s here. It’s only me. I’m the Luna of the Luceres Pack. You have nothing to fear me.” She walked slowly towards me, opening her overcoat and handing it out to me.
From the warm look in her eyes, I knew I could trust her. I accepted the coat and put it on.
“What’s your name?” I searched her eyes. They didn’t judge me at all, unlike the others.
“C-Cerelia Belmont.”
“How old are you?” I didn’t want to hide my identity from the Luna. If anyone could help me, it was her.
“Seventeen. I’ll be eighteen in a week. Please save me from them! I’m not a spy.”
“Did they force themselves on you?” I nodded since it was the truth. Although I had saved myself from their abuse, I wanted them punished.
“How many of them?”
“Four!”
The Luna gasped with horror. “Can you recognize all four of them? I will punish them.”
I nodded slightly as my head reeled. It seemed I had been waiting to ensure the culprits received their deserved punishment. My heartbeats slowed down, and I knew I wouldn’t make it alive out of here. Holding onto my head, I fell back to the cold, damp ground in a heap.
Soon, Alpha Zephyrus returned with Dan and the other guards.
“Why is the prisoner in such a condition? Your duty was to guard her and ensure she didn’t escape. Then why was she physically abused by four of you?” I could hear them, but couldn’t come out of my stupor. “This is a punishable offense. I will get to the root of this to punish the culprits.”
“Let’s carry her to the car, Alpha. Can you ask them to get a blanket?” said the kind Luna.
Soon, they wrapped me in a warm blanket, and Alpha Zephyrus picked me up in his arms.
They took me to the hospital complex, where Alpha Zephyrus carried me inside.
It was a futile effort since I knew I was sinking. No amount of treatment could save me now. It was too late.
The sound of footsteps made me stir. Despite the mayhem all around, how did I hear someone approaching us? Why did a tingling pine and lemony male scent hit my nose?
“Bro, what happened?” said the same spine-tingling male voice I had heard before. Despite my stupor, I was acutely aware of him. How could that be possible?
“Save her if you can, Alexandrios. She’s a spy and I need her alive.” I desperately wanted to protest. I was no spy but an innocent silver wolf here to save myself!
“I’ll try. Here, hand her over to me. Rob, get a stretcher,” yelled the same sexy voice, taking me in his arms.
Electric tingles shot up my body the moment he cradled me against his warm chest. It gave me the strength to open my eyes and look at him. A gasp of surprise escaped my lips when I drowned in the same electric blue eyes I had seen before.
He was the same hunky male I had collided with earlier.
So he was my doctor!
Our gazes locked for a split second and Lia struggled to get free.
‘Mate!’ she whispered again. Could she be mistaken for the second time?
‘Mate!’ whispered the male voice, but my eyes closed, shutting him out forever.
I knew I couldn’t make it. I couldn’t find out if he was actually my mate. A tear rolled down my eyes as I sank into oblivion.
Alexandrios Vasiliou’s POV I stared at the beautiful girl in my arms with horror. She was the most exquisite creature I had ever seen in my life, her skin and hair almost exuding a silvery hue. However, the blood oozing from her wounds had me concerned. The overcoat covering her hardly covered her tattered clothes and injuries. My heart sank with dread at seeing her condition. Who had done this to her? I ignored my wolf, Rio, who kept chanting only one word since he saw her.‘Mate!’ “She’s a spy, Alex. Don’t let her die. I need to extract important information out of her,” said Alpha Zephyrus as we rushed towards the elevators. My heart sank with disappointment. Was my mate a spy? The girl looked too young and innocent to be a spy. “Are you sure, bro? I don’t think she’s an adult even. Who did this to her?” Rob brought a stretcher, and I eased her gently into it, but couldn’t loosen her grip on my coat. A wave of tenderness filled my heart for the young female, critically wounded a
Alexandrios’s POVCerelia Belmont!I smiled at her name. It suited her. It was as exotic as she was. The door opened and Dr. Sylvia rushed in with two nurses before I could ask Cerelia anything else. I swore under my breath out of frustration. There were so many things I wanted to know about her. She was too innocent and vulnerable to be a spy. While I was sure she wasn’t one, Zephyrus was adamant in his belief. I couldn’t go against Zephyrus, not because he was the Alpha of the pack. It was because he was like a big brother and a guardian to me. Leandros and I would have died that night twenty years ago when the Whiteridge Pack had attacked us. We lost our families and were forced to flee Lucania to save our lives. Zephyrus took us to his ancestral home in the kingdom of Aromania, Greece, which became our home for the last twenty years. I was indebted to Zephyrus and his extended family for educating me and helping me fulfill my dreams. “Doctor Vasiliou, the patient has lost her
Alexandrios’s POV She slept in peace, and I rose to leave for the day. It had been almost four days since I had gone home, living in the hospital day after day. Tonight I needed to get a few fresh clothes and a refreshing warm shower as well. What if Cerelia found me undesirable when she woke up? Rio chuckled, sensing my thoughts. ‘Undesirable indeed! Why do you want her to desire you? You aren’t interested in her, right?’ My cheeks colored, and I muttered curses at my wolf as I walked out of Cerelia’s room. I could hide my thoughts from the world, but not from Rio. ‘F*ck off, Rio.’ I stormed out of the front door when I saw Zephyrus alight from his car right in front of me. Now I had no way of escape. “Good to see you here. I have no time to go inside. So is there any update on the spy girl, Alexandrios?” I hesitated but shook my head. “She opened her eyes briefly before sinking again. Dr. Sylvia was with me and I couldn’t ask her anything. Now she has fallen asleep. I’m going
Alexandrios’s POV I had no idea how long I sat at her bedside. A movement beside me woke me and looked up hopefully. Had Cerelia just moved? Maybe I was mistaken, since she lay in the same position as before, without moving even an inch. I leaned towards her, placing my mouth close to her ear. “Cerelia? Can you hear me? I promise never to leave you from now on. Open your eyes and see me fighting for you.” There was no response, but I didn’t give up. I picked up her hand like before and massaged it, sending warm signals to her brain. “I will fight the red wolves for you. I’ll fight Alpha Achlys too. You’re my mate, Cerelia. I’ll never give you up.” I meant every word I spoke. Tears pooled in my eyes as my heart filled with sorrow. She couldn’t die on me. “I want you to turn eighteen and live a fulfilling life with me. Don’t you want that?” I had no idea if she was listening to me, but I rambled on, wiping my eyes occasionally. Memories flooded through my mind of a similar trauma I
Cerelia’s POV I knew he was waiting for me to disclose more details about myself, but I couldn’t utter another word. My throat choked with painful emotions as I thought about my father, my pack, and my village. My life had been picture-perfect until the Red Wolves attacked us out of the blue. Now, I couldn’t connect with anyone in the world. It seemed I was an alien amidst a sea of shifters. The only one who took care of me was my mate, Xandrios, but I couldn’t tell him who I was. What if he threw me out of his house? Where would I go? I looked at him and drowned in his beautiful electric-blue eyes. There was so much adoration in his eyes, I wanted to trust him blindly. Maybe some part of me already did. Xandrios had proved himself already. He was the only one in the world I could call my own. He was my mate, who had already promised me a forever. But how could that be possible? How could an ordinary shifter wolf be my mate? Shouldn’t my mate be a Silver Wolf too? Moreover, he was
Alexandrios’s POV “She isn’t fit to be released now. I want to keep her here for another week. Once she regains her strength, you can decide what to do with her.” I could feel Zephyrus’s annoyance at the other end, but I wasn’t giving up my mate. “You’re not abiding by the rules of the pack, Alex. The Luceres Pack has zero tolerance for spies. I won’t have her here for a week. What if she harms us?” I groaned at his false alarm. “I don’t think she’s a spy, bro. She’s an orphan. The Red Wolves have destroyed her pack and territory.” He grunted in disbelief. “Is that the story she had fed you? I have other facts to prove she’s a spy, here to hack into our information systems. I would advise you to step up the cyber security of your hospital, Alex. This is serious.” My jaws dropped with shock at his misconception about my innocent little mate. What was wrong with Zephyrus? Why couldn’t he deal with the actual culprits instead of an underage soul? Before I could protest and support m
Cerelia’s POVSparks of electricity shot up my body the moment I felt his soft lips against mine. I didn’t know what to do anymore as he stood frozen on the spot. All the courage I had mustered up to thank him left me and I stilled for a moment. Was I the only one feeling the heat? Was he immune to me? I released him abruptly and whirled around to flee. What did I do? He was way older and more experienced than me. Obviously, he didn’t want me. My instincts were right. I shouldn’t have come to Lucania. This place could never be my home.“Wait, Cerelia. Where are you going?” He came to his senses and lunged forward to grab hold of me, but I escaped and headed towards the main door. “I’m fine now, Xandrios. Maybe it’s time for me to leave. I’m eighteen and legally an adult. So I know what I’m doing. It’ll save you the trouble and you can concentrate on your work.” “No f*cking way! As if I’d let you go.” He rushed after me and stood blocking the door. “Are you out of your mind? Do you
Cerelia’s POV “This hospital was my father’s dream. He had built it twenty years ago when he was the Zeta of the Luceres Pack under Zephyrus’s father’s rule. I had never expected to revive it and fulfill his dream after so many years, Cerelia, but I have.” My eyes filled with tears of happiness for him. At least he could fulfill his father’s wish, whereas I had no way of doing so. “I’m sure he’s very proud of you wherever he is.” Xandrios paused and gave me a look of astonishment. “Do you really think so?” I nodded sadly. While his father was feeling proud of him, my dad might have been disappointed in me. “Yes. So what if they aren’t with us? My dad used to tell me that my mom was watching over me, guiding me, and saving me from all evil.” His eyes widened, and he nodded, looking so vulnerable that my heart went out to him. I wanted to tell him all about me, the way he had, but my life was so complicated. I had sworn never to let anyone know my true identity. Silver Wolves were e
Alexandrios’s POV I drove back to the McDougall Trail area where Alpha Alexios had promised to meet me. There had been no update from Stavros, and I was on the verge of losing hope. I would have been clueless if Alpha Alexios hadn’t agreed to help me. This wasn’t a mission I could succeed on my own. Whatever the case, I would never have given up.I reached the location and noticed an agitated Zephyrus, waiting for me with Stavros and his team. Zephyrus didn’t look pleased with me, but I didn’t care this time. My mate’s life was at stake here, and I didn’t need anyone’s permission to seek her. I didn’t understand Zephyrus’s attitude towards Cerelia. Why was he so biased towards her when he was a just and benevolent leader? “There, Dr. Alexandrios is here.” Zephyrus came towards me with a scowl. I got out of the car and faced him. “Did you call Alpha Alexios? Shouldn’t you have waited for me instead of taking matters into your hands, Alex?” “You weren’t there and time was running ou
Cerelia’s POV Alpha Achlys carried me all the way through the tunnel under the McDougall Trail. It was so well concealed I doubted if Xandrios would ever find me. They fed me some herbs to camouflage my scent and theirs as well. It was so effective that I couldn’t even get their pungent scent.Delta Maverick drugged me so that I had no strength in me to fight. It worked, but not enough to make me lose my consciousness. I couldn’t retaliate or fight but I could see where they were taking me. Was it to their hideout in the Pikes Peak, Colorado? I remember my dad mentioned it once before going out to save the pack. If only I had known it would be the last time I would see him!“Which tunnel now, Maverick?” yelled Alpha Achlys, his voice echoing around. At thirty, he was the most powerful and evil of the lot. I lay limp in his arms, unable to move a muscle. But this couldn’t go on. I had to plan my escape before they injected the potion into my system. I didn’t hope for a rescue. Maybe
Alexandrios’s POV Strangely, the door was open, and I ran inside. I knew something was wrong because I had closed the door when I left. “Cerelia!” my voice echoed around the empty house. There was no response. Panic settled in my heart and I ran from room to room. The house looked ransacked, with things strewn all around. A fight seemed to have taken place here. “Cerelia? Lena!” No response. My worst nightmare had come true. It seemed Delta Maverick had barged in and taken my mate away! “No, it can’t be possible!” I screamed in the still house. I flung open the door of the last bedroom to see Lena lying unconscious on a couch near the door. There was no sign of Cerelia!I immediately mind-linked with Zephyrus. ‘Come to the house, fast. Lena’s unconscious and there’s no sign of Cerelia. I think they’ve taken her, bro.’ ‘I’ll be right there.’ He disconnected the link, and I leaned over to pat Lena’s cheeks. “Lena?” I checked her pulse, and it was normal. Lena opened her bleary
Alexandrios’s POV I swerved and picked up speed to get rid of our stalker. When I reached Aunt Syble’s house, I would inform Homer and Stavros about the enemy. “They’ve found me, Xandrios. They’ll capture me.” Cerelia looked pale as a sheet. I knew she was going through a panic attack, but I couldn’t stop the car now. The stalker would catch up.“They can’t. Just relax, Cerelia. Once we reach Aunt Syble’s house, I’ll ensure our stalker is captured.” I could see the wolf still chasing us at a distance through the rear-view mirror. His red eyes glittered in the darkness as he picked up speed. He didn’t look like any of the normal pack members. If we couldn’t lose him yet, it meant he was more cunning than I had expected him to be. I swerved into another lane that opened onto the highway. Crossing the stretch as fast as I could, I swerved onto the highway and into another lane. Cerelia sat gripping her seat handle while I swerved into innumerable lanes and out again until we reached t
Cerelia’s POVI rushed inside, panic settling in my heart. If the Red Wolves were here for me, it wouldn’t take them long to get to me. I just hoped they wouldn’t harm my mate and his hospital to get to me.For the rest of the time, I stayed inside. I didn’t want them to know my exact location in this enormous hospital. It would be easy for them to get me if they knew. The door clicked open, and I jumped up, startled out of my wits. Did they break the lock? I sprang from the couch in my room and took on a fighting stance. Before I could find anything, my bedroom door opened and Xandrios peered in.“Hey, are you planning to kill me?” he chuckled, making me blush.“Not at all.” I relaxed and walked out of my room with flushed cheeks. “What are you doing here? Don’t you have any patients to check?”He smiled and gestured towards a large food packet kept on the dining table. “I brought lunch. Help yourself.”I felt relieved at the sight of the food. Seeing the Red Wolves had disturbed me
Cerelia’s POV I opened my eyes to a soft, feathery touch on my cheek. It scalded me almost making me gasp. When I opened my eyes, I gasped at the sight of my mate hovering over me. His hot breath on my face played havoc with my senses. “Xandrios? What are you doing in my bed?” I gasped, looking down at myself. Thankfully, I was fully clothed. Then why was he here? He rolled away with a smile hovering on his lips. “Don’t you remember anything from last night, Cerelia?” He held my jaw-dropped gaze with amused eyes. I blinked in confusion. Last night? How could I not remember a thing after the kisses? I had gone off to sleep. Did he sneak into my room and claim me? Surely I would have known if he did that. “What did we do last night? Did we..?” My face paled as his smirk widened in response. “Hell, no. You had a nightmare. I heard you screaming. You were under a panic attack and I came in just in time to comfort you. Later, you stopped me from leaving. That’s it.” I watched the amu
Cerelia’s POV Xandrios reached out and swept a lock of hair from my face. My stomach clenched as I waited for his mouth to descend on mine. He cupped my jaw and neck as if I were fragile. My breath hitched as he tilted my head toward him. His fingers worked into my hair, making my body tingle with need. With every passing second, it intensified into a dull throbbing that reached my se*. My gaze dropped to his lower lip. They pulled me like a magnet and I closed my eyes, surrendering to him. Electricity surged through my body when he swept my hair off my neck and bent to kiss the sensitive spot below my ear. Would he mark me tonight? My breath hitched again, and I opened my eyes to see him run his tongue over the spot. “Mine to mark, mine!” He continued trailing his mouth over my heated skin, inching towards my face.“Xandrios, please..” I wanted him to stop teasing me and kiss me already. I wanted him to complete the kiss he had started earlier. “I love the way you respond to me,
Cerelia’s POV Xandrios seemed to be in a rush to get out of the diner. “We’ll pack up another pie for you to munch on. Let’s go shopping.” “Oh, why are we rushing?” I followed his line of vision to see a group enter the diner. It seemed Xandrios wanted to avoid them. He led me to the counter to collect a parcel from Aunt Syble without answering me. “Thanks for the treat, Aunt Syble.” He paid for the parcel, though. “Any time, my boy. See you soon.” She waved at me too and Xandrios steered me out of the place. Just as we got into his car, I noticed Carl and the other sentinels enter the diner. I now knew why Xandrios rushed out. He didn’t want a confrontation, and neither did I. Maybe the situation would change if I joined the pack, and Xandrios introduced me formally to all. I trusted him to clear my name. I watched him discreetly as he steered the car towards the shopping center.“You’re staring, Cerelia.” His husky voice made me blush and look away. “You can tell me what’s on y
Cerelia’s POV I blushed profusely at the thought of kissing him deeply so many times. Whatever it was, I would definitely kiss with tongue, just as Lia suggested. As for shopping, I needed a lot of stuff. So obviously, we would kiss a lot. My heart skipped a beat at the thought as we sped off towards an unknown destination. “So, dessert first or shopping first?” He grinned and glanced at me. “We’ll start with dessert and end with it, too.” I gave him a clueless look. “I refuse to get fattened up!” He chuckled instead of changing his plans. “Oh, the type of dessert I have in mind for later won’t make you fat.” I frowned suspicious of his motives when realization struck me. Was he hinting at the kisses I promised him? My cheeks flushed with embarrassment and I dropped the topic. “Do you realize now?” He chuckled more, embarrassing me further. “You definitely need a lot of training. Don’t worry, I’ll be your teacher and guide.” I glared at him, eager to puncture his bloated ego. “
