171: Domino Effect

The car was quiet for about five minutes after my call with Nana ended.

After what she said, I had become tongue tied and she was the only one talking. In the end, she must have noticed my mind wasn’t fully there because she said her goodbyes. Making sure to remind me to call often so she knows I’m fine.

I hummed a yes that I wasn’t sure she heard.

Jason’s hands clenched and unclenched around the steering wheel countless times. One part of me wanted to know what the matter was. It could be that he was worried about Zeke and what the man was going to say.

Or, what Nana said was also stuck in his mind. Like it was stuck on mine.

Tired of just sitting in the awkward silence. I messed around with the radio until I found a channel that was playing music. I groaned and was about to turn it off. But Jason said I should leave it.

I agree that it was better than the silence. We both had no idea which song was playing but it had a soft tone. I closed my eyes and leaned back, resting again
