Chapter Sixteen
Khloe Anderson
I sat at my office desk looking at the calendar of events. It was later in the afternoon after the rush hour had long cooled down, and I'd recently left the kitchen to accept orders via phone calls. The upcoming month already seemed to be busy and I couldn't help but be excited.
Downstairs, the staff were doing their normal duties and customers were swarming the shop for desserts.
I'd just hung up from a wedding cake order when I heard a knock on the office door.Stacie, one of the waitresses walked in. She beamed. "Hey, Khloe. There's a Mia Novak here for you."
I looked at her in disbelief, while pro
Chapter SeventeenKhloe AndersonI stood back to look at my creation. I'd decided to make an orange cake for dessert, based on the ingredients that I found in the kitchen, and from how it looked now, I knew it was successful. Mia went on to prepare dinner and I'd only recently began assisting her. Everything was now prepared, and I couldn't be happier. It was nice having someone else there in the kitchen when I was preparing something. In the bakery, I liked handling things on my own, and most times, if someone did join me, it would be done in silence. Mia was very attentive, and moved around the kitchen with so much grace, almost like she belonged there."Come on," she beam as
Chapter EighteenKhloe AndersonI looked at myself in the mirror for what was probably the hundredth time. This dress is too sexy, too tight, too large, too flashy, too pale, too-ugh!Mia had invited me to her annual charity ball, and I wasn't sure what dress was appropriate for such an event, so I had asked Alyssa for assistance. Plain to say, she was certainly serious when she said it would be out of this world. I wasn't certain whom the dress was actually for. She was a more outgoing person than me, and if on her, the dress would do her justice. Me, however, I tried finding every possible aspect of the dress that would be worthy of judgement so I'd have to change into another one.
Chapter NineteenLogan NovakI place gentle kisses against her neck and throat, travelling lower down her body. Her nipples stand at attention through the dress and bra, and my excitement builds at the thought of what's below the fabric. Reaching for the zipper, I carefully unzip her dress and helped her out of it. My breath caught at the sight of the strapless bra that perfectly held up her perky breasts, showing off the valley that men probably got lost in before.Yet, that thought didn't necessarily appeal to me. The realization that men had actually touched her, and made her feel things that I was about to, made me feel...angry.No matter h
Chapter TwentyKhloe Anderson"Hands off, Logan."I removed his hands which were busy running along my curves. At another instance, this action would've been most welcomed. However, being naked and this close to Logan Novak, only dirty things could occur. However, his hands kept torturing me, and I gasped when he instantly grabbed my butt."Logan, I'm serious." I turned around to scowl at him, and I wanted to smack the smirk off his face."Babe, just one more time," he begged, but I chose not to fall for his charms. We'd done it countless times already, and I'm extremely exhausted.
Chapter Twenty-OneKhloe AndersonI dug my hand into the bowl of popcorn and a few fell unto Logan's laps. Trying my best to ignore my actions and the smirk which appeared on his face as his eyes are glued to the TV, I dug right back into the bowl."I think you should clean up your mess," I hear him say a moment later, and the bowl is pushed away, giving me no access to the salty snack. I chose to ignore him, making myself comfortable, and returning my gaze to the television as we watch a movie. When the popcorn I'd been holding on to finished and the urge to have more grew to unimaginable bounds, I felt like the universe had betrayed me. I'd have to reach over him to get the bo
Chapter Twenty-TwoKhloe AndersonI puke my guts out for what seemed to be the fifth time this week. The toilet had become my best friend, and food- my worst enemy. I wondered what had upset my stomach so much thatthiskept on for days. I'd ruled out all the possibilities of it being food poisoning. I hadn't eaten anything strange in the past few days. I'd prepared all the meals that I could remember, and as far as I'm concerned, I'm not allergic to anything.I'd analyzed at all the possibilities. Maybe it's a stomach bug. I'd heard that there's one going around, and maybe somehow, I'd caught it. Which was unbelievable; I didn't get sick. I couldn't remember the last time I'd been this ill.
Chapter Twenty-ThreeLogan NovakAs I drove to Khloe's apartment, I tried calling her cellphone and landline. It kept going straight to voicemail, and I felt fear rush through me. It isn't like Khloe to not answer her phone. The last time something similar had occurred, I had almost lost her. I couldn't go through this again. I hoped that this wasn't the case.I felt like such an idiot for not listening when she'd called earlier on. I should've made an effort, cancelled meetings- found some way to listen. I'm so stupid. What does she think? That I don't want her anymore, or I was ignoring her. That was besides the truth. I'd wanted more than anything to be back in NYC, but with up and coming contracts, and ensuring that everything ran smoothly, I'd lost
Chapter Twenty-FourLogan NovakI looked at Khloe as she slept. We were on our way back to NYC, having spent a few days there with her family. She'd wanted to stay there longer, but when I'd gotten the call that I was needed back in my office, I decided to drive back. Not wanting me to go, she'd agreed that it was best if she drove back with me- which explains why she's fast asleep. When Khloe had told me the news about the baby, I was shocked. All my life, I'd never wanted any kids or dreamt about the possibilities. But when Khloe told me that she was pregnant, I was ecstatic. Over the past months since I'd known Khloe, I'd thought about marriage and kids, and now they were welcomed thoughts.
BonusKhloe NovakI laid awake listening to the whispering coming from down the hall and footsteps as they moved around. It was only six in the morning, which is very early when you're a parent, and certainly welcome to a few more minutes of sleep. No doubt our kids were up and about this early in the morning. I smiled imagining what they're discussing amongst themselves.I knew it had to be Emily leading the others. Being a big sister, she sometimes persuaded her little siblings to do whatever she wants. Now at 15, she was a typical teenager, and had once or twice given her dad a heart attack when she'd spoken about having a boyfriend.Lo
Extra TwoLogan NovakThe sound of little footsteps running towards me was the first thing that greeted me as I entered our home."Daddy!" The voice of my little boy, Kyle, shouted before little hands came to wrap around my legs. I beamed, moving to unwrap his arms around my legs, and taking him into my arms.Looking at him, I beamed. He was now three and a miniature version of me. Of course my sons took my charming features, and I was certainly elated. I noticed how his hair was falling to cover up his little hazel eyes. It had only been a week since we'd given him a trim, but his jet black hair was even longer than it had been."He
xtra One-Years Later-Khloe Novak"When I took over as the CEO, after my father who had started the Novak Industries, it wasn't even close to being a billion dollar company, and everyone knew it as N.H.I; Novak Holdings international," Liam told the audience as he stood at the podium. Over 200 guests; employees of Novak Industries, business associates, friends and family members, sat at the tables that were spread around the huge ball room where the event was taking place."The years I was the CEO, I was able to take a million dollar company, and take it to new heights, providing opportunities for those who were in need," he said. "Sometimes when I look back, I can't help but realize th
Epilogue Two-Two years later-Logan NovakI entered the house, quickly doing away with my duffle bag and climbing the stairs. Walking down the hall, I opened the second door and entered the room belonging to my daughter. Stepping inside, I went closer to her bed, only to realize that she isn't there.Frowning, I walk to the nursery and noticed also that our little boy, Landon, wasn't there either. Knowing where my family would be at this time of the night, I entered our bedroom and noticed three figures asleep on the king sized bed. I smiled at the sight, staring adoringly at my family. My wife lay at the edge where I normally slept, Landon, our one and a half year old
Epilogue OneKhloe Novak"Mummy, I'm hungry."The voice said near me, and I groaned, hoping to have a few more hours of sleep."Mommy." The voice said again, and my eyes flew open to see Emily standing near the bed and holding unto her favorite teddy bear. I reached across and picked her up, putting her to lay down by my side and kissing her cheeks and forehead. Yet, her persistence won. "Mummy, can I have pancakes?""Yes baby."Standing from the bed, I went to freshen up before exiting the bathroom. When I entered the bedroom, she was standing near the bed, and I lifted her into my arms.
Chapter Twenty-EightKhloe NovakI got out of the bathroom, drying myself with the big fluffy towel before stepping into the walk-in closet. Searching for suitable clothes, I quickly picked out a gradient color evening dress beaded ball gown. I then chose a Prada suede platform ankle-strap sandal high heels. Letting my hair loose in its natural curls, I quickly put on some makeup, grabbed my handbag and jewelry and left the room.We were on our way to celebrate Mia's birthday party as she had just turned fifty years today. The party was being held at the Novak's hotel's ballroo
Chapter Twenty-SevenKhloe NovakI'd just came from taking a nap, and I'd decided to go check up on Emily. Walking across the hall and towards the nursery, I felt a burst of excitement surge through me at the thought of seeing my daughter.I'd recently realized that staying away from my baby was almost nerve-wracking. I wanted to know what she was up to. Was she asleep? Crying? Yet, I knew that a three day old baby could hardly do anything. I knew she wouldn't be gone, and if I hadn't heard her for a while, it meant that her dad had kept an eye on her.Her dad.My husband.Logan is the best husband I could ever ask for.
Chapter Twenty-SixLogan NovakI entered the house, placing my keys and briefcase on the table. Breathing a sigh of relief that I was finally home after a business filled day, I stepped into the living room.I was greeted by Khloe sitting on the couch watching a movie. She looked up when I came in, and smiled.I'd taken a few weeks of leave to stay home with her before the baby arrived, but an emergency had me rushing to my office. I hated having to leave her home alone, but she'd urged me to go, promising to call if anything happened. There had been an accident with one of the workers on a new project and being the CEO, I had to handle al
Chapter Twenty-FiveLogan NovakI rushed into the Novak mansion demanding, "Where is she?"To anyone, I could easily resemble an insane person, who's well on my way to a mental hospital. However, that was beside the point. I'd been speaking to Levi when he happened to mention that Khloe is with my parents at the mansion. Naively, I'd disagreed, certain that Khloe was in the apartmentresting. I remembered the conversation we had earlier that day quite clearly. So, of course I had argued with him about Khloe's whereabouts."I'm serious. Khloe is with mom and dad. Mom just called me," he'd said, and pulled out his cellphone to
