Lillian's POV

"What?" I gasped, my eyes widening in astonishment. "How can you accuse me of such a thing? I didn't steal this card."

"Then how did you get it?" She questioned, stepping closer.

"That's none of your concern," I snapped, unable to contain my rage. "I don't owe you any explanation about where I got this card from. You can't just accuse me of stealing!"

"You are so upset because you know I'm right," the mall attendant raised her voice. "How can a homeless-looking person like you have a black card of all cards? This is absurd."

"Maybe to you!" I snapped. "This card belongs to me, and I owe you no explanation on how I got it. Do you go about calling all of your customers with black card thieves? This is so unprofessional."

She suddenly snatched the card away from me and glanced over it.

"It's not even your name on the card!" She gasped. "It belongs to Alexander McQueen. I think I've heard that name before, but from where..."

"Give it to me!" I stumbled forward, grabbing the

Why should I go to jail?" I shouted, my voice trembling. "She's not just a thief impersonating a dead person, but also a liar. A good one," a customer accused."I'm not lying—" My defence was cut off by the sound of the door opening. Two police officers entered, their presence filling the place. For the first time in life, I was genuinely terrified of the cops. "Who's the suspect here?" One of the officers asked."Her," Freya said, pointing at me. "But she's not a suspect. She's a criminal."They walked to me, and the officer who had spoken stopped directly in front of me."You are accused of stealing a black card, and impersonating a deceased person," He said gravely. "These are serious offenses.""I didn't do any of those things! They are accusing me wrongly," I replied, a bit relieved that I was allowed to d

My parents aren't some gods who will smite you if you make an error,” He said, his tone slightly teasing but still consoling. “Just be yourself.”“My usual self can't be as poise as Jessica… I haven't learned anything about her yet,” I muttered under my breath, my palms sweating. “Tell my parents we'll be downstairs in a few minutes,” Alexander turned to the maid, instructing her. "By the way, have the dresses that I ordered arrived?”“Yes, sir.” The maid replied. “Good,” He affirmed. “Bring one of them here along with a pair of shoes. I was still worried about meeting his parents, but it was inevitable now. “Just take a deep breath,” He whispered, letting go of my foot and moving closer to me. “I'm here fo

  • Saved To Be A Substitute   Eva Smith

Lillian's POV“What…” I stuttered , caught off guard by her question. Why would she ask me that? Was she truly convinced I was her daughter, or was this a test? If she had asked me any other question, I would have answered. But I knew nothing about this woman. Even if I had learned everything about Jessica, how was I supposed to know her mother's hobbies? I looked at Alexander, silently pleading for help, but he seemed just as shocked by her question. “Darling,” She grabbed my chin between her fingers, her tone icy. “Don't tell me that you don't know your mother's fun activity?”“Mom…” “When did you start calling me Mom?” She sneered, her grip tightening around my chin. I swallowed hard, my body starting to quiver.“You used to call me Ma" She spat, her gaze suddenly filled with disdain. “You're not my daughter, are you?”“Gianna, stop all this,” Jessica's father intervened. “You're scaring her, you don't know everything she's been through.”“I do not care!” She shouted, releasi

Lillian's POVWhat promise was she talking about?I felt utterly confused and out of place. It seemed like everyone else understood what was going on except me. Glancing at Alexander, I noticed his gaze fixed on Eva and his mother. Who was Eva? Was she a family friend? Or maybe an ex? Could it be that Alexander had dated someone before Jessica? Was it her? I exhaled sharply, realizing my thoughts were spiraling. They were starting to make no sense. “Alexander,” I called softly, and it took him a moment to shift his gaze to me. “Yes, freckles?”“Who is she?”I asked, my curiosity piqued.” Is she a family friend?”“No, she's not a family friend,” He replied slowly, as though carefully choosing his words. “Her family used to be against mine, but we eventually became closer and ended the feud.”“Wow,” I mouthed, glancing at them again. “I just wondered why you never mentioned her or her family before.”“We're not close…I mean personally…” He added, his tone uneasy. “Alright,” I nodd

Her past is no one's business.""It's our business when your health is at risk. You're too young to be facing more challenges," Mrs. McQueen spat back."Mom, my health isn't at risk. Lillian is a healthy young woman, and I'm not at any risk. Stop making insinuations." Alexander shot back, his tone unwavering. "How are you so sure that she's clean?" Mrs McQueen persisted, her voice laced with accusation. Her refusal to back down was infuriating. Why did she keep accusing me of something so horrible?"Mom...""Don't call me," She cut him off sharply. "I'm saying this for your benefit. How do you think she survived all those years? She added sharply."What happiness does he deserve after the hurt he caused my daughter? If it weren't for him, would she have gone missing for three years?""That's the only excuse you have for my son to remain unhappy? I couldn't allow that.

I was watching a video of Jessica and her mother confessing everything they had done before disappearing. That was what they had to do, so Alexander wouldn't press charges against them. They knew they had no chance against especially since, Dad, as I called him now, wouldn't be able to help them. In a few hours, she slipped out as if nothing had happened. She touched her face again and there was no pain anymore. This discovery made a smile appear on her lips. As she headed to the parking lot, she pulled out her phone to call her mother. “Hello?” Sha muttered as her mother answered. “How was it?” Her mother asked. “Ma, everything went well,” Jessica smiled, getting into her car. “Are you sure? Is there any pain left? Do you want to go abroad again?’ Mrs Sinclair inquired, her voice tinged with worry.“Ma, I'm trying to get Alexander back and returning to Singapore isn't something I want to do. She could not understand how a loving gentleman like Alexander had been born by such a bitter mother."What? Why are you staring at me like that?" Mrs McQueen snarled, hands perched on her waist. "I don't know if you know this but Alexander really loves you. He respects you too as his mother but I don't think you love or respect anyone but yourself. You are trying to ruin his happiness with your own hands," Lillian said. "What happiness? Do you think life with someone like you is happiness? Alexander will be miserable if he gets married to you and he will regret choosing you over me," Mrs McQueen accused. Lillian leaned against the wall, suddenly realizing what the matter was all along."You are jealous. That's it, right? You don't even care about Jessica, not really. You are jealous of how much Alexander loves me and you get afraid everytime he considers my feelings before your own." Lil

"I got you," he whispered, his hot breath sending chills all over me. He started walking backwards with me attached to him, scattering kisses all over my neck. When he got to the bed, he sat on it, lifting me and placed me across his hips. He didn't break concentration, continuing to tease me while dragging the rest of the teddy down to my waist."My baby is going to have a baby," he said, drawing the leftover chocolate on my chest down to my stomach.
