CHAPTER ONE
VOLK
My entire existence was sculptured around dominating and standing above every pack, so what I thought would be my greatest disappointment happened 9 years ago when Dad told me I couldn't be an Alpha at 16 and also warned me against being too hasty. He had called me immature and made it clear Ashina could also take the spot if I did not prove myself worthy. Being the strongest in my pack at that time, it was beyond appalling to hear Dad speak to me with such little regard.
It didn't matter if my sister, born five minutes before me, had relieved herself of the right at a young age. Dad reminded me that he could always change the tides and humble me with the worst punishment. Ashina was equally very strong and as children, our powers were on par. I had been careful ever since and more cautious of every decision I made. Even after I figured Ashina, nor any wolf could ever be as strong as I was, I still heeded Dad’s warning.
Now here I am, walking away from what I am sure is the biggest and greatest disappointment of my life.
”You know what she is, Volk We shall not leave her here.”
My werewolf, Conri had been the one who sensed her and from the moment I turned to walk away, he had been very upset. Amongst all of the things that didn't make any sense today, that was also really disturbing. Conri was more power-obsessed than I was. He appreciated only the strong and resented anything weak. The girl we had just seen was not only feeble, she seemed like every ounce of life had been sucked out of her. To make it worse, I could not sense her wolf. I was trying my best to connect the dots but there was no conclusion to arrive at. Her wolf could not be so dormant, and If it was, how did Conri still find her?
”You know how important this is, we cannot abandon her!”
"Do not scream Conri, that can not be my mate. I can't even sense her wolf." I groan.
He was not going to let this go any time soon but it didn't matter to me. I would not take her.
”She must not be left here, Volk. We shall leave with her.”
Conri had been the little demon living in my head for as long as I could remember and we barely had any fights. We acted in tune with each other's emotions and this was going to be our major fight in years because I have no intention to relent. My entire pack depended on my decisions and whatever would make my pack disregard me even in the least could not be tolerated. I ignore Conri as he continues to talk about going back to that girl and I feel bile rising in my throat. I have never been more repulsed by the sight of a person in my life.
I had been in the company of Jeremy Amarok, the Alpha of the blood moon pack, with his son, Klaus right beside him. Lowell, my best friend and the Beta of our pack and I had just arrived. We were amidst introductions when I spotted her above Klaus’s head. I felt a tiny jolt in my body and immediately I could almost tell what was happening.
”Volk, we've found our mate.”
I knew he had felt it too and excitement began to take over me. I had been alone for too long and the thought of finally having my mate was too much for me to take in. I did not ask for permission from the Alpha standing before me as I walked casually into his house. No one dared stop me as I was beyond ruthless when it came to showing my power and the Blood moon pack knew this was no friendly visit.
I was met by two giant wooden doors that opened into a hallway carrying paintings of previous Alphas and had doors on either side. The hallway terminated at the other end with doors identical to the one I walked in from. She stood right in my line of vision and Conri continued to get even more restless as we got closer. She hadn't moved since I laid eyes on her and I was sure the trio on outside we're watching our exchange.
I couldn't tell if she was watching me because her face was concealed beneath long black flowing hair but as her mate, it was only natural that she had felt the jolt too. Conri was almost jumping out from delight, he was purring in my head and I smiled at the thought of finally having my mate in my arms.
As I got closer, I noticed how frail she looked and my heart broke. She was the thinnest creature I had ever set my eyes on and as soon as I got close enough, she bowed her head and started to tremble. I took one more step forward and she crouched, hugging her knee and trembled even more. Her dress was worn out and torn in several places.
Staring at her from above, I wondered if the universe had lost its great compass. How could I be paired with such a thing? A weakling and probably, the slave of the Blood moon pack. Conri on the other hand was beyond overjoyed. He had already accepted her and was waiting for me to take her home with us.
”Her wolf must be asleep Volk, but I am sure, this is her. We've found our mate.” He rejoiced.
His words had angered me more and that was when I decided to leave. As if on cue, the frail creature looked up and some of the hair got out of her face. Her eyes were a soft shade of grey that almost looked white. It stood out even more with the years of dark circles under her eye. Her cheekbones were poking out as if to be used as a weapon in case anyone got close. Her skin was so pale that I wondered if she had any blood left in her. A sense of pity washed over me but it didn't last a second. Gladly, my humanity was never greater than my pride. I imagined taking her back with me and unable to ever hold my head high again because my mate was not just beyond weak, but by some miracle, did not even possess a wolf.
I'm almost back at where Jeremy, Klaus and Lowell stood and before I even reach them, Lowell makes a face at me and I am sure I do not look pleased at all. I approach them and Jeremy is the first to speak.
"If you do not mind, we must hasten to the meeting. Our annual hunt begins tomorrow and we have so many preparations to put in order."
Jeremy tells me.I know he is only in haste to find out whatever has brought me to his pack and is worried that our guesses are right. I walked past him and head for the nearest rock to seat on it. I was sure the meeting was to hold in the mansion and if I had to go back inside, the thoughts of that girl would not let me concentrate.
Lowell comes to stand behind me and bends to whisper in my ear.
"Is everything alright?" He asks.
They all had been watching me as I walked to the girl and had witness our exchange. I didn't care if the other two suspected what must have happened, but I was sure Lowell knew exactly what and he would side with Conri and I could not have that.
"Yes, everything is just fine." I deadpan.
Lifting my head to Jeremy and Klaus, I notice they are equally watching me intently and I get even more irritated.
"What are you waiting for, let's start the meeting.” I say.
"We....we...we have the banquet ready inside Volk. You could have dinner and probably rest from your trip before our meeting in a more private place." He mutters.
I did not intend for our visit to be a long one and although we arrived by nightfall, it did not stop me from making the trip back home after the meeting.
I set my eyes back at Jeremy and stare right into his eyes, making sure my next words drip with the most venom I can muster. I notice for the first time that members of his pack are lurking in the dark and watching us.
"We will have the meeting right here, Jeremy. I do not intend to set foot in your mansion ever again but if I have to, be sure that it is not to enjoy a banquet or the pleasures of the blood moon pack."
He uses a minute to take all of my words in then immediately calls for chairs to be brought to us and I turn my gaze to his son, Klaus. Something about him unnerves me more than his Father. He swallows the lump that must have formed in his throat and walks straight back into their house.
CHAPTER TWOLOWELLI watch Volk closely as the meeting commences. He was uneasy and from what happened earlier, It had to do with the girl.”It is a shame that the Amarok’s have been charged with many despicable acts.” I say.” This not the first time a report has come in. What can you say about that, Jeremy?” Volk adds.I almost chuckle. Jeremy Amarok was a 57-year-old man who selfishly stayed at the Alpha spot in the Blood moon pack. In normal circumstances, Volk may have regarded him with some respect, but due to the amount of looting and criminal acts he had been involved in over the years, almost no pack respected or regarded him.”I am not sure what you are talking about, Volk. We have lived by all of the rules and you have no reason to doubt us. Many are jealous of our network and would do and say whatever to soil our name.” Jeremy says.Watching him, he looks like a t
CHAPTER THREERUDINAI watch through watery eyes as the green-eyed man approaches us. I cannot mutter any words nor do I intend to. All my thoughts are clouded by the pain in my body and the weakness I feel. My hand was still resting on the man who came to save me as he had helped me get on my feet. As soon as those green eyes fall on me, I quickly pull my hands away. He didn't as much as linger, as his eyes were off me in the same instant. Something about him made me very uneasy and his gaze towards me was as cold as the first time.”What in the world is going on, Lowell?”The green-eyed man growls at my saviour. His voice sends shivers down my spine and I find myself trembling yet again.”This girl you decided to abandon is probably a victim of what brought us to the blood moon pack. You do not intend to leave her here now, do you?” Lowell demands.Fear grips me even harder because I am worried the green-eyed
CHAPTER FOURRUDINAI had spent the night awake and thinking of the one million possibilities the future held. I didn't know what the path ahead was going to be like if what all Lowell had said was true and if it wasn't, then I was going to go back to even much worse torment than I had previously faced. My unease had no solution and as I watched the birds that hymned their morning tone, I studied my environment and wondered if there was any chance I could run away.Like last time, I thought to myself, even if I did, where would I go to? This was the 21st century and life wasn't as archaic as the wolves made it seem. They loved to live in packs and shy away from society and I had not met any pack that was in constant relations with society so this place must be far from town. The blood moon pack paraded around Sunrise mountain. It was a famous mountain in New Jersey and from stories I had heard, it used to be a big attraction before Klaus and Jeremy
CHAPTER FIVEVOLKI decide to leave very early and refuse to think about the girl from last night, which only makes it harder. Whatever torture she was receiving here must have been more brutal than I could imagine but I still could not take her home. I could not fathom how I would live the rest of my life with a woman who could barely stand on her two feet and had no wolf. Her thoughts never leave me as I get into the car and seat in the passenger seat. I never let anyone drive me but I was in no mood to drive and I could not possibly focus on the road if I did."You are not driving?" Lowell asks in shock as he gets in the driver's seat.He had been keeping his distance from me since yesterday and whether or not I could understand why he was being so cold, I still could not bring myself to take her." Yes.” I say to him without lifting my head.He doesn't say another word as he gets in. I realize I cannot find Qareen
CHAPTER 6VOLKConri had not eased since we got home. He had asked to go see her so many times and I refused. I didn't want anyone seeing me with her. I didn't want anyone thinking I cared.”Until you accept her, Volk, I would go into hibernation.”I scoff at his words and continue to ignore him. I feel him go completely still and silent as if to make good of his threat but I know he is only trying to challenge me. He would have to get over his obsession with the girl and I figured, time would serve its purpose there. Mate or not, I could not have her as my Luna. Even as I thought about Conri, I knew I had a much bigger worry now. If Ashina called Mum and Dad, which I was sure she would, I would have a lot more to worry about. Dad would not take abandoning my mate lightly and he would make certain I paid for it.I start to pace in my study, wondering what to do. Ashina’s words are constantly torturing me. All that had happened with the girl before our meeting must be the reason for h
CHAPTER 7 RUDINAI wake up in a room filled with the scent of pancakes. I turn to see a woman by the bed forking some into her mouth. It dripped of honey and some of it was on the side of her lip. She licks it away with her tongue and closes her eyes to revel in the goodness.I watch the goddess carefully and wonder if such beauty had ever existed before her. Her skin was so smooth, I could have had all my meals off it. I watched from her feet to the tip of her head. She had the longest legs I had ever laid my eyes on and they ended in a very tiny waist. She wore skinny jeans and a crop top. Her breast stood firmly beneath her shirt. I moved to her face and noticed how not a single spot could be found. She opened her eyes and those same gorgeous green eyes stared at me.”You’re awake!” She beams. She gets off the couch and comes to seat beside me. She smells of vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. After passing
CHAPTER EIGHTVOLKIt's the third night since Rudina had arrived and I had only visited her while she slept. On the second night, I ended up spending so much time watching her and left just before dawn. Yesterday, she had been having a nightmare, tossing and turning in bed, screaming words I could not make meaning out of. I began to stroke her, as I did her body eased and she continued her slumber. Watching her in pain only made my heart ache even more. Whether I was willing to accept her or not, something drew me to her and I could not deny that I felt more at ease when I was around her.I lay in bed tonight, and the last time I checked, it was about 3:30 a.m. Dad was to arrive by morning and I was still firm on my decision. I didn't want her as my Alpha female. Now, It wasn't because she was weak, it was more because I feared the position would be too much of a burden for her to carry. Deep down, I knew I was just giving myself a reason to feel less horr
CHAPTER NINERUDINAI feel the presence I felt that day in the Amarok hallway. I wondered how I could still sense him when my wolf was dead. All my life, I had wondered why I even considered myself a werewolf. It was only because on the night of the full moon, I felt the power surge through me that I believed I was one. I also knew the buyers and sellers were hiding something because I was only sold to werewolves. I had never heard my wolf stir nor could I use any of the abilities other werewolves maintained even in their human form. I only believed that I was a wolf cause of how I felt during the full moon and how I had survived all these years with my many injuries. He walks in and I feel immediately out of breath. He is wearing a vest and his arms are completely exposed. I take a good look at him, refusing to meet his eyes and I appreciate all of his features. For someone who had gone through the worst of things, I sure had the nerve to notice his concrete jaw and titan shoulders.
The first thing I saw, when I opened my eyes, was a bright sunlight that penetrated through the room. I squinted as it was hurting my eyes. It was already morning. It meant I slept through the night. I flexed my muscles and held my breath. I waited for the pain to come but it didn’t. I was glad. I found out that I could sit up. I walked around the empty house before I went to go lie down. I saw the plate of food beside the bed, and found out that I had been spoon fed. I couldn’t see a picture of my host around the house so I settled back in. As I lay back, I noticed that my wounds were now getting healed. I caressed them. Just as I did that, I began to remember how I had gotten to this here in the first place. “Volk, your coronation will be coming up soon, what plans to you have for the werewolf kingdom?” The Alpha of the Drix pack and also the Alpha of the Alphas,my father asked me. In the werewolf kingdom, the Drix Pack, which was my pack has always had the alpha of the Alpha
Volk“We camp here for the night!” Sean, my other beta mmanded. We had been marching since dawn. The road to the dwelling of the Desma pack wasn’t this far but due to the fact, that we are attacking them unannounced, we wanted to take them by surprise.“Volk, we will leave at sunrise” one on my men told me and I nodded. As I stood watching the mountains and the bits flying around, I remembered how I felt yesterday. I couldn’t shake the shock of my brother’s face the moment I told him my plans.“Brother, what do you mean that you want to take over the Desma pack? I mean you just went there yesterday?” Lowell asked me. I stared into his eyes as he pleased with me to make him understand my motive. “I want to do a hostile take over on the Desma pack. The Volcans have strong men which would complete our army.” I said looking away. I lied. I didn’t want to tell him the real reason but I too couldn’t believe it.“yes I know we do not control a big amount of army but that is not what we nee
While with Klaus Rudina began to think to be happy at least. The night was dark but it felt darker for Rudina. Her mind was in chaos as she ran with her might. Her life depended on how fast she could run because if she for any reason she slowed down. That would be the end of her.“Ouch!” she yelled in pain as her legs was caught in a between two sharp branches. She struggled to free herself from it’s grip but all her efforts were going to vain.“There she is!” She turned to hear them charging towards her. Her heart sink as she kept struggling. And just like a miracle, she freed herself and began running again. She kept running and felt her strength betraying her but suddenly she saw a house. It had smoke coming out it. Just like that she felt she had been there or knew the owner of that house. She ran towards it with so much strength. Just as she was about to get into the house, she slipped and fell into a big ditch. She screamed as she fell and hoped that she would not be falling to
IN A STRANGE LAND“Let me go!” I screamed but my mouth was immediately covered by a strong hand. I pushed and kicked but it didn’t do me any good.“Be calm Rudina, it’s me” the voice from said. At the sound of his voice, I know immediately who it is. I use all my strength and untangle myself from his grip. He Chuckled. I might be an Omega but the strength to push Declan away always came from somewhere so deep.“You know, you don’t have to keep running away from me. Submit yourself to me and when I become Alpha, I’ll make you my Luna” Declan said. From the pit of my stomach, the disgust I had for Declan was growing. He had always been a pervert. I remembered when he tried to put his hands underneath my dress, when I was just 15. Now I’m 24, he still hasn’t changed.“Don’t you dare lay your filthy hands on me ever again” I said in clenched teeth. He Chuckled again. “And what would you do if I do that, he said coming closer to me.“Don’t you dare me Declan!” I growled. He chuckled like
Volk’s POV.I knocked on the door after I heard some giggling but the moment I knocked I couldn’t hear it anymore.“Who is there?” I heard the make voice ask.“It’s security” I said. Then I heard footsteps approach the door. The door was slowly opened but the moment I could see his face, I burst into the room.“Aargh!!” He screamed. I twisted his arm and he fell to the floor.“You think you can get this werewolf huh– I dragged the conch off his neck and it broke.“Oh my God! What’s happening? Where am I “ Rudina the young alpha asked.“Its alright Rudina. Everything will be fine” I assured her. I made a whistling sound and some of my men came into the room. They took the shape shifter away.“Sir you beta has arrived the pack.” They informed me. I had sent for Lowell when I was attacked.“Come on let’s go home” I said to a confused looking Rudina.***********************************************************************************Lowell’s POVI has arrived at this pack and I was warml
Noria’s POVSuddenly Matt appeared.“Excuse me I have to go” I said and went straight to Matt.“That man keeps the creeps' I said.“Well you have to see him often. He is connected to Klaus. Actually he is a spy” Matt said on our way home. He said that Klaus wanted to know if I truly had lost my memory, just like the plan stated.“What?” I turned to stare at him and he nodded. He explained that he was wondering what was wrong. That Klaus was by now, meant to call for him but he won’t why the delay. So when he say the Rocco guy, he knew he was Klaus spy.“So what do I do?” I asked.“Well we need to watch him and by watching him I mean, going as a spy yourself to him” Matt said. Then that was how he got info on where the billionaire use to go to. Matt got me a job there as a waitress. Let’s say fortunately for me, I met Naomi there. So I began to work then while looking for the Rocco guy.Fortunately for me, Rocco came to the bar and has been staring in my direction. I avoided serving hi
Noria's POVAfter I had listened to Matt. I came to forgive him. He told me we have to go ahead with the plan and meet KlausOn Friday he took me to a club and I made some friends. I couldn’t feel free in the club because I felt someone was watching me but Naomi my friend, was against it.“Stop being a wet blanket and have some fun” Naomi whispered into my ear as we got into the club. We were welcomed by the dark lights of the club, the loud music, and the almost naked skin, that littered the whole place. I took in a breath and tried to relax. The club was once my forte. It was a place I always ho often, whenever the problems were getting to my head until I decided to move to New York. I haven’t really clubbed. Naomi tapped my arm and spoke some words. I didn’t get to hear her because of the music. Then she shouted.“What Will you take?” She shouted over the speakers. The first thing that comes to mind is the pineapple cocktail. So I tell Naomi, like the way she did to me; shouting ov
Jeremy’s POVI flung my eyes open immediately I heard the noise. I stood up to find out that it was a phone ringing. I turned to find out that it was my phone. I was surprised to find out that it was unscathed after what I had been through.“Hello”“Hello Jeremy, it’s me Dean.” Sean was a friend of mine but he wasn’t close. We were more on the surface than friends. What I foun6 surprising was why he was calling me.“Hello?” I couldn’t hear a thing. It turns out that, the phone was actually bad. So I had to make use if the phone I saw in the house.“Hello Dean, tell me what happened” I said.“Jeremy, I know this would come as a surprise to you. I have been trying your number for weeks now. What happened?” he asked.“I don’t know if I should tell you this.” I paused a bit and told him everything.“Wow, that’s a lot to take in. I guess by now, your parents would be worried sick, looking for you” he said.“Yes, they would. I told them that I was going on a research journey and I was du
With Micheal asleep, Clare began to search the room. She didn’t see anything with Klaus in his pocket. As she sighed sitting on the bed, she was grabbed.“Michael what do you” think you—““I 'm sorry sleeping beauty. I didn’t feel comfortable in the hotel, so I moved you to my house.”“What?” I shrieked.“ just shut up, you are over reacting” he said softly, staring into my eyes as he closed the gap between us. He didn’t also give me a warning and again he slammed his lips on me. this time he held my head in place and plunged his tongue deep into my mouth. He brought out a hand and began squeezing my butt. I moan in response and this I felt gingered him the more. He came closer and I could feel his body heat. His bare chest against my night wear clad breast but the material was not hindering me from feeling him. Suddenly I felt a bulge growing on my stomach and I gasped. My moans were swallowed by our kissing as he kissed like we were two passionate lovers but we weren’t. i tried fi
