Isabel didn't get back home until the middle of the night on the second day.

Before she came home, she posted on Instagram. "Spending time with young guys is the best. They're so full of life, passion, and energy."

A comment under her post read, "Young guys can definitely turn up the heat!"

The commenter had Jack's profile picture. I could tell right away it was his second account. I considered blocking him again but decided against it. I decided to play along if he wanted to mess with me.

I held back the urge to curse and quietly liked his comment.

Isabel boldly replied to Jack's comment with an adorably shy emoji. She uploaded a photo of them sipping from the same glass.

It didn't take long for Jack to change his profile picture to that photo.

I tapped on his profile picture and asked, "You think this is fine?"

He acted all innocent and explained, "I was just playing around with Ms. Bluett. Don't take it so seriously! She's got a great sense of humor and doesn't mind at all.

"I'm sure you won't be that petty either! If you're going to keep pushing it, I'll leave it up to Ms. Bluett to decide who's right."

I didn't reply and ordered myself a little cake.

Isabel avoided dessert because she was afraid of putting on weight, so she didn't want me eating it either. I'd painfully cut out desserts for the past three years just to go along with her.

But now, I was asking myself why I kept following her lead. I'd simply eat and drink as I pleased.

The cake had barely arrived, and I'd just taken two bites when Isabel came in. She tossed it straight into the trash without saying a word.

"You're having dessert again at this hour? Don't you think you're already heavy enough? You're not getting any younger. Keep gaining weight and you'll end up looking like a sight."

I was about to fire back, maybe even mention her Instagram post, but she brushed me off and headed straight for the bathroom to soak in the tub.

I whipped something up in the kitchen to curb my hunger.

When Isabel finished her bath and saw the plate was empty, she grumbled, "You only made a snack for yourself? Couldn't you have made some for me, too?"

"Didn't you already eat and drink enough with someone else?" I shot back.

Isabel looked like she was on the verge of snapping but stopped herself for some reason. She pulled a plastic bag from her purse and handed it to me.

"Two days ago was our third wedding anniversary. You weren't happy with the gift I gave you, so my friend and I searched the whole city to get you a better one. Stop being jealous and see if you like it."

She looked at me, clearly pleased with herself.

I was baffled. What on earth did she get me?

I ripped open the wrapping, and a green hat fell out. My face immediately fell. She knew I couldn't stand anything green!

Isabel seemed a little flustered when she saw the hat was green. "Why is it green? They must've given me the wrong one!"

She picked the green hat up from the floor and tried to cheer me up. "Don't worry about the color. It has a four-leaf clover on it—a good luck symbol!"

I snatched up the hat and chucked it in the trash. "I bet this hat was Jack's idea, huh?"

Isabel seemed surprised. "How'd you know?"

I ground my teeth in anger. "Isabel, you've got a real knack for gifts! Jack gets a million-dollar yacht and I get a used watch and a green hat! All of Jack's brilliant ideas, huh?"

Isabel defended herself. "He was nice enough to help me pick out your gifts, so how can you not appreciate that?

"And besides, how could anyone compare a husband to an assistant? Giving him a yacht was a decision made by the company, and the finance department is covering it!"

I pointed to the photo on WhatsApp and snapped, "You can say the yacht was a company gift, but what about you two sharing a hotel room and sipping from the same glass? Either give me a good reason or fire Jack immediately!"

Isabel slammed the table. "Fire him? No way! He's my most reliable assistant!"

I punched the coffee table, and the glass shattered immediately. "Well, fire me then, Isabel. Do you have the guts?"

Keeping such people around is like keeping a rotten apple in the bunch. I'm making Jack the HR director. He has the authority to fire anyone!"I grinned. "Works for me! But just so you know, I might not want to stick around, but it'll cost you if you try to fire me. Pay up my severance, and I'm out the door."Honestly, I didn't really care about that money.
