KYLO’S POV Seated inside the hospital room, watching Varya’s unconscious form resting on that bed made my soul skip a few beats. For a second such scenes felt as if old regrets come back to clamor for attention, the blame squarely on me. Just a minute ago, we had all been having dinners around the dining table with some light-hearted fun in welcoming Mrs. Luther back from the vacation. And the next minute Varya’s face was all pale. She had just… passed out. Panic gripped me when I called out her name, my voice cracking as I hurried over to her. Her eyelids dropped shut as she went slack in my grasp. Everything thereafter had become hazy, my body moving her to the car almost instinctively, Grandpa barking orders, Mrs. Luther’s terrified screeching. The aftermath of the events that occurred in that room only served to numb my senses, bright white lights, dull violent sounds and those words which I considered would be my salvation–erase my sadness. Please, please save her. A
VARYA’S POVIt was an unreal and astonishing kind of news that shocked me to the core, making me feel dizzy all through.I was pregnant! Yes, I was going to have my baby! Initially, it had shocked me completely before morphing into a combination of emotions like happiness mixed with sorrow and panic.Being at that hospital bed with Kylo’s hand on top of mine, the realization came crashing down on me harshly. I am going to be a parent. Kylo shall also be one too! However, while I yearned for joy within me, doubts kept invading my thoughts.Could Kylo really be a good father? Could he truly change?Kylo had always been complicated—passionate, driven, sometimes too much for his own good. I had seen his darkness, rage, and how cold he was to me. I witnessed his most terrible moments, which were horrifying. He could be furious as a fire that bursts out unexpectedly and although he tried to change himself for the better those past instances still remained in my mind.Could such a person be
Our marriage had always been complicated. The initial arrangement was an agreement that appeared chilled and calculated, but over time it grew into something else entirely; however, it was still fraught with pain and confusion.Kylo has always maintained his distance and locked away his feelings behind a wall that cannot be breached. I made unsuccessful attempts to approach him, and comprehend him but every effort was met with impassivity, which was colder than any nasty remark. But now everything felt more pressing and real since the baby was about to be born. I could not remain in an empty marriage anymore.I had to know where Kylo really stood on this matter; what did he really want from me? Then again fear of his response, the fear that he would confirm my most dreadful suspicions kept me quiet. The sound of footsteps disturbed my thoughts as I looked up to see Kylo standing at the door holding a breakfast tray in hand. His expression was serious, he searched my eyes for something
He wrapped his arms around me bringing me close while letting go tears started running down my cheeks silently too much sadness taking place at once on the inside feeling overwhelming yet comforting warmth making everything feel alright' albeit briefly. At last, after an eternity of waiting finally, there was a chance again - still weak but flickering flame suggesting that perhaps somehow someday we would return again into each other’s embraces again.Hugging him tightly made me realize that beginnings are never easy though. Not that they have to happen overnight but if Kylo fights for us maybe I could gather up enough courage to do likewise. My mother’s eyes stayed on me, as we sat together in the warm atmosphere of the living room with the sunlight coming through the curtains. She was worried to the extent that her feeling was evident and I felt that she was almost choking. And I could clearly notice how tense she was, how fine creases of concern had manifested themselves across the
Grandpa really outdid himself this time, organizing a gathering of families and business partners alike, ostensibly to celebrate unity and success. And yet, there was something different about the atmosphere tonight that made my heart flutter with both anticipation and nervousness.I stood by one of those tall windows, staring out at the city lights twinkling like stars in a dark sea of void below. My dress—a deep burgundy one which hugged all my curves—made me feel beautiful but there was sadness in me I couldn’t shake off. This occasion seemed more than mere business or family matters; it was a night filled with promise while I remained uncertain whether I was ready for what lay ahead.Earlier on Kylo had been distant; not so much in his previous coldness as in his thoughtfulness or rather secretiveness.Still, he had been considerate of my comfort but there was something intense about his gaze that I could not define. It had been a long way for us full of misunderstandings, pains o
He had planned this event to be an entertainment for families, as well as business counterparts. The atmosphere in the room was filled with laughter, echoes of glasses touching, and music. This was ideally the environment that I wanted when I had planned the entire thing, but the feeling that swelled in my chest was almost tangible.I thought I was standing by one of the tall windows of the building looking down on the city below. The twinkling bulbs were of a high intensity and I observed it was dark like the sky at night and this made me take my eyes off it for a while.Yet, there I was thinking about Varya most of the time. It was her that made me develop nerves today and became the reason for this nervous energy in the night. She stood across the room dressed in burgundy dress which enhanced the curves of her body. She was gorgeous and although I was quite far I could notice the look of despair she was masking so well.It was a sadness that I realized that I had provoked and this
VARYA’S POVThe day after Kylo's proposal felt like waking up in a dream. When dawn parted the curtains and let in the golden rays, it was hard to imagine that only a few hours ago Kylo had proposed to me for real.My hand went to the ring I now wore on my finger and the diamond again shone brightly against the sun, creating rainbows around the room. The moments were somewhat dreamlike and yet whenever I touched the ring on my finger I did not need anyone to tell me that this was all real. Kylo loved me.I stood up from the bed and walked towards the window and I looked outside at the city that was an unspoken character in our story, the one filled with both sorrow and happiness. This led my mind to the wedding which was now even in front of us.They were not an extension of a prior commitment, or repetition of a promise; it was the start of something fresh, of reality. And so the preparations could only be special as well.I could feel the buzz once I made my way downstairs in the ho
The morning of the wedding was as well fine with no clouds in the sky to disturb the blue of the day. Now I found myself back in front of the mirror in my childhood room strapped and ready for this like a kid on Christmas Eve.The dress I bought for my wedding was an off-white, beautiful lace and silk gown that fitted me to perfection. It was plain and elegant and made me feel like flowers were blooming on my dress and the garden we would be getting married in was nearby. My mother was frequently touching my face, fixing my veil in position enrollment arrangement She caught my eye in the mirror and smiled, her expression soft with love and pride.“You look stunning, Varya,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “Kylo is a lucky man.”“Thank you, Mom,” I replied, my voice trembling slightly. “I just… I want today to be perfect.”“It will be,” she assured me, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. “Today is about you and Kylo, about the love you share. That’s all that matters.
