CHAPTER 136

The very idea that she had to suffer, her family had to be taken from her like that, made me want it even more. I had given her an undertaking to stand for her and now I was willing to do everything possible to reveal the true depth of the deceit that derailed her life.

I looked at the clock, much to my surprise and shame that it would already be this time of the night. I still had to pay attention to the video but I was reaching the end of my tether. It was then that I stepped back a few moments turning my mind, to think of something else.

I stepped towards the window and for a moment stared at the city outside to get my mind into some order.

For me, the theories I had were rather creepy, and to imagine that such a person as Theo’s father could be involved in such a brutal act was horrible. It was a morbid way of thinking but I could not afford to relax – each lead had to be chased to the last.

Something that was true had been concealed and I was to make the effort of unearthing it.
