TWENTY NINE

Mary sat in the garden staring absent mindedly into space, remembering how she and Adonis had kissed there the other day. ‘That was the good old days’ a dry smile appeared on Mary’s face as she thought about her Emma had pushed her around after she had spilled her chicken soup and broken her ‘most expensive plate’ once again she was glad that she had just three days to spend with the over bearing old woman and her arrogant grandson.

That night, Mary got as much sleep as she could get. Emma had told her earlier in the day that she wanted her room fumigated, and she wanted Mary to do it in her words, there were roaches all over the place and they disturb her sleep at night.

Mary knew there were no roaches, what she did not know was if Emma had to lie about the roaches being in her room or she actually thought there were roaches there. Whatever it was, Mary knew she had to obey her boss. At least she was still her boss until the next three days.
