Flint  POV

“I don’t know what to think anymore,” I admitted to Brent while drinking vodka in a private room inside the Blue Canyon, a country club in Redwood where we both enjoyed VIP memberships.

“Why don’t you ask her? Instead of overthinking and suspecting your brother, go to your wife and seek the answers to all the questions crowding your head.”

“I really love talking to you, Brent.  You are like a cold bath - scary but necessary.” I told him bluntly.

Brent chuckled.

“You needed it.”

I clapped Brent on the back.

“Thanks.”

“Let’s go. It’s two in the morning, and the manager had been giving us deadly looks already.  I think this club is closing for the day.”

After Brent settled the bill, we rose from our seats and ambled back to his car.

Flint POVJust as I was about to seal Anna’s lips with my own, we heard Penelope cry. We broke apart and raced up the stairs. “Daddy!” Penelope’s tear-drenched face lifted up in our direction when we opened the door to our room. She was standing on her cot. Her arms were outstretched toward me, silently asking to be pulled up. I didn’t think twice about responding to my daughter’s distress call. In three strides, I was in front of her. I cupped her chin.“Did you miss Daddy?” I asked gently. Longing pierced me when I saw her face. It was unfathomable how the two of us had become quite attached when we only knew about each other’s existence a few days ago. The connection was so strong. “You reek of alcohol.” Anna reminded me when I bent down to pick Penelope in my arms. “Just a while, dear. Let me comfort our daughter for a while." Anna stood to the side, watching while I rocked Penelope. I swayed my body from side to side while my little girl clung to me. Then, her eyes ha

Flint POV“Are you okay?” I asked Anna when the car stopped at the entrance to the hospital. She nodded, but I knew she was nervous. I squeezed her hand, and she squeezed back. Then our eyes met, and we smiled at each other. Penelope was sleeping in my arms. “Shall we go in?” She asked. “Not yet. Our little Queen is still asleep.” I told her, not wanting to disrupt Penelope’s sleep.Once we left the car and entered Martina's room, my baby girl would be jolted by the loudness of my family. “Let’s wait a little longer,” I told Anna. She nodded, and I gathered her close with my free hand while my other hand supported our baby girl. My phone vibrated in my pocket. “Dear, can you dip your hands into my pocket to get my phone?” I asked. Anna immediately followed my request, but I could see that she was blushing. I smiled to myself. Anna is not your typical modern girl. She was usually shy. Then, she thrust the phone into my chest.“Here.” I grabbed the phone and swiped the scre

Anna/Linda POVTo show proof, Flint linked our hands, where we wore our wedding bands and held them up for the people around us to see. The Fords clapped their hands.I saw Rowan nod at Flint and felt an easing of another coil around my heart. Just by that one look, I knew the brothers were on their way to reconciliation.“Yes!” Riley shouted, disrupting my train of thought. “I knew it that day! You are going to be a part of our family!” Riley announced, to everyone’s astonishment. He rose on tiptoe while l bent to receive his kiss on my cheeks. But that was a wrong move because Penelope saw what happened, and she started to make her displeasure known. “Ma-ma! Ma-ma!” She cried, reaching her hands out for me. “She’s jealous,” Flint explained when he leaned to transfer Penelope to my arms. “And who is she?” Riley asked, clueless while Penelope clung to my neck. “She is our baby. Penelope, meet your cousins.” Flint said to explain. Then, he motioned for Penelope to greet her

Flint POVShe was biting her lips, and I very much wanted to kiss her. Penelope was with her cousins. Charles assembled a collapsible pen so the children could play. Marie, Jenna, Charles, and Hanna are looking after them. “What are you looking at?” Anna asked when she looked up at me and found me with my head turning to the side to survey the suite Marcus reserved for the family. “He’s controlling himself because he wanted to kiss you but did not want to embarrass you in front of the family.”Rowan butted in, and I glared at my brother. “Don’t bother us. If you have nothing better to do, try looking after your kid.” I said in an antagonistic tone. Rowan laughed. He tousled my hair. “Rowan. Stop it.” “Let’s talk.” He said when his chuckles died down. Then, he turned to Anna. “Can I borrow my possessive brother for a while?” Before Anna could nod her head in approval, Rowan pulled me from the couch and led me outside.“Hey!” I said, protesting, not wanting to be torn away f

Flint POVOur table, though situated at the far corner, offers a spectacular view overlooking the city. I looked at the skyline, head whirring about the swift turn of events in my life. “So, how does it feel being a new dad?” Rowan asked, and his eyes crinkled at the corner. I bet he was remembering Rohan Joy, too. “It feels great. My little Queen is smart and loving. Anna brought her up well.” “That’s good to hear. And how about being a husband? I am expecting that you already threw away your black book?” That earned a glare from me. I used to have a list of women I contacted for b*oty calls, and they called that list my black book. Rowan chuckled. “What?” He asked, raising his palm in surrender. “You are the player in the family. Of course, I am concerned for your wife.” “You are hurting my pride big time, bro. I used to play around, but not since I met Anna.” Rowan’s eyes bulged in surprise. “You are kidding me?” This time, I raised my palms like I was taking an oath

Speechless! This word best describes what I was feeling right now. Do you know that you were amazing readers? Yes, you who stayed with me until this page. When I first started writing this story, I had so many trepidations. I did not think I would be able to pull this through. First, it has a little similarity to my previous novel, Billionaire Ex Wants Me Back, but my editor believed so much in my draft that she encouraged me to consider doing this. (My heartfelt thanks to Lyra Pinter, who had been a constant source of support.)My feeling of uncertainty magnified when I received so many attacks when the story was first published. Too many detractors lashed out at my characters that I had a hard time concentrating.I know what I wanted to do, but the first people who were vocal about the story did not give me enough encouragement. They did not give my characters a chance to redeem themselves as the story progresses. Fear grips me everytime I face the blank screen of my computer.

  • SORRY DEAR EX, IT'S YOUR LOSS, NOT MINE   Chapter 472. Epilogue

Briana’s POVThe soul always knows how to heal itself. I had often heard that phrase before but it was never more gratingly obvious til now. After I volunteered to be Charles and Jenna’s surrogate, I had not counted on the pain the act would invariably inflict on me. At the start, it was all too easy. For 40 weeks, I would be carrying their baby in my womb, and that was it. Jenna and Charles will have that baby they desperately wanted. Of course, Noah and I submitted to counseling before I did this, but I never expected that when the time came that I had to turn over baby Amira to her parents, it would hit me so hard. I had not counted on how my self-sacrifice would backfire on me. It hurts so much. I was so heartbroken when I realized that Amira would no longer be a part of my life. Noah took me to several sessions of counseling, and with his support, I was able to get past the hurt and accept that Amira was not mine. The rest of the family helped. My brothers hovered over me

  • SORRY DEAR EX, IT'S YOUR LOSS, NOT MINE   Author's Note

Hello my loves, Jenna and Charles’ story was one of the most painful stories I had written so far. It was because I had to dig up long-forgotten events in my life. But I had to do it for you to be able to understand the motives behind Jenna and Charles’ actions and the pain they invariably inflicted on each other. Jenna and Charles were both non confrontational. They keep things in stride and hope for the best, but sometimes even with the best intentions, our pain could not lay hidden for too long. It needed to be addressed and voiced out, not because you wanted to lash out at your partner or give them the same pain they were giving you.Sometimes, our silence is our cry for help. Or it was a way to protect ourselves. We retreated into the inner recesses of our soul to find solace and comfort because the people we expected to comfort and provide solace for us could not hear our cry for help. But all’s well that ends well. Am glad for those people who had requested me to do a story
