"She's here." I caught sight of her just as she entered, her presence sending a familiar jolt through me. I couldn't stop myself from announcing my presence because I was hoping to see that flash of surprise on her face that I so much enjoyed seeing.

"You're here." My voice might have startled her, but she masked it well.

"Yes." Her reply was simple, but it carried a weight that filled the space between us.

"Let's be done and over with this wedding stuff," I declared, trying to sound indifferent as I moved towards the line. Marriage was a formality, a necessity, but the way she dealt with it, always so direct, intrigued me.

"What does that even mean?" I heard her mutter, her confusion amusing me as I led the way, a smirk playing on my lips at the thought of her trying to decipher my words.
