ASHLEY.
I smooth my hands down the material of my skirt, as I stand before the full-length mirror; my reflection staring back at me.
Letting out a deep breath, I grab my backpack, and head out of the room, shutting my door.
Walking down the stairs, I can hear the distant echoes of Sinclair's, and Vincent's voices with their laughs, which makes me wonder what the hell they are talking about, for Vincent to be laughing that loud.
Probably girls, and stuff. The thought has my heart clenching, but I don't allow myself to dwell too much into it as I finally take the last stair.
"I'm off to school, " I speak as I stride towards the refrigerator, and grab an apple, taking a bite, and turning back in my stand to come into view with a smiling Sinclair. God, don't look at me like that.
Vincent is turned the other way, messing around
ASHLEY."Hey, are you okay?" I flinch at the sound of the voice, and turn around in my stand to come in view with s frowning Lucy, and I ignore the strange way Darren just behaved."Yes, of course. Are you done?" I smile at her as I hand her the phone, and she nods with a smile; grabbing the phone from me."Yes, we can go now. ""Right. Oh, by the way; Darren was here. " Her face literally lits at his name, and I shake my head with a chuckle; knowing she's already head over heels."Really? He was? And I missed that? Oh God! you should have tried to delay him, or something. " She frowns, and I roll my eyes. Well, I did try to get him to stay so he could tell you the news himself, but your prince charming was more than eager to leave."It's not my fault that he's got a class to get to. It's now like you're never going to see him ag
ASHLEY.Now, I finally get it! This explains why he's been acting so fucking weird all day. The stares, and the refusal to look away. He knew what he was doing, and God! If I don't hate this man more than I already do."Mr Corey, I don't think, " I turn back to my maths teacher, only to be silenced with a raise of his hand. "He told me you were gonna refuse. " He says, and I lean back against my seat, a scoff flipping through my parted lips.He told him that I was going to refuse? What the hell is wrong with this boy? What more does he want from me?!"Now, I don't know what issues you've got between each other, but I suggest you settle them, Ashley. Because this is not the time to think about those, this is the time to think about the fact that someone's success lies in your hands. Someone's dream, and career. " And our of the hundreds of students in Westwood high, that person just
ASHLEY."What's up with Dave?" Lucy asks as we walk to our table, and I shake my head with a sigh, dropping my tray of food, and sliding in my seat."Apparently, he needs my help with tutoring. That's the reason Mr Corey called me to his office. " I say, and she scoffs, dropping her phone."What the hell is wrong with that boy? Does he seriously think you're going to help him after what he did? Well, what was your response?" She lifts her brows, and I shrug, "Told him to go fuck himself. There's no way I'll help him, Lucy. I can barely stand the sight of him, and now to be in the same room with him for hours? No, I think I'll pass. "I shudder, opening my bottle of water, and taking a large gulp."Yes, and he won't stop staring at you, " she says, jerking her head behind me, with her shooting daggers in the direction."The tortur
ASHLEY.I shut the door behind me with a heavy sigh, resting against the doorframe with my eyes shut, and my head raised to the ceiling.I've fought many times with Lucy, but I've never seen her angry like she was today. Honestly, I understand where she's coming from. I know she's only trying to look out for me, but just like I told her; she won't understand. She doesn't know the full story about Dave so of course, she doesn't understand. And I can't tell her either. It's Dave's secret to tell. Not mine.I move slowly from the doorframe, my eyes scanning across the living room, and wondering why the hell Vincent isn't at my throat already."Vince, " I call as I stride towards the kitchen, tossing my bag pack to the couch on the eat."Vince, " I call again, and receive no response, but the echoes of my voice.&n
ASHLEY. My eyes are wide as my gaze meets with Sinclair's, and I move so fast, and almost fall off the bed. I scurry away from him, heat spreading across the cheeks at the thought he caught me. Again. Why the hell is he always walking in on me doing nasty things? Why is he even here? Isn't he supposed to be at a party with my brother? How the hell did he even get in? "Enjoying yourself, little Greene?" There's a glint in his eyes as the words slip through his lips, and I shake my head, slowly backing further away from him. "You seem like you were to me, " he chuckles, his eyes darting down to the book that lays on my mattress, and he cocks his brows as his gaze moves across the cover. "Just a little dirty. You're one nasty little thing, aren't you?" His gaze moves back to me; focused, and darkened than before, and that look crosses over his features. The look that tells me o
ASHLEY. The echoes of my heartbeats is boisterous in my ear as I stare at the man before me. He leans forward, hovering over me, with his hands placed on either side of me, and my tongue darts out unconsciously to wet my lips. Sinclair's gaze follows the movement, and he snags my lips in his; his tongue thrusting in my mouth, and intruding mine. He fights against mine for dominance, and I let out a throaty sob, wrapping my arms around his neck to pull him closer. The metal of his lip is cold against my lips, and a shiver runs down my spine from the contact; my core burning with the need for him. I groan against his lips as Sin pulls my bottom lip between his teeth, before sucking on the flesh, and in a strange way; that burns right across my body. Sinclair pulls back, staring down at me with a familiar look on h
ASHLEY. "So how was it?" I inquire Lucy as we stride down across the corridor of the school with a huge smile on my face. Lucy doesn't seem as delighted as I thought she was going to be after spending last night with Darren, and the curiosity is killing me. "Nothing like what you visualized. " She murmurs as she stops at her locker, punching the code, and pulling it open. I frown, and cross my hands against my chest, before saying, "Why? Did something happen? Did he try to do something stupid? Did you get caught up? Or he bailed on you?" The words slip through my lips, and Lucy responds with a chuckle, shaking her head as she rummages through her locker. "I would have been happy if any of that stuff happened. At least I wouldn't have to go through what I went through yesterday. " What the hell did that guy do? I swear to God I'm going to... Let's not jump to conclusion
ASHLEY. "Are you still thinking about it?" I question Lucy who turns to me with a smile on her face, and she shakes her head as she pulls on the straps of her bag, saying, "No, he came up to me, and apologized when you took off to the restroom. He said something was going on, and he was distracted. " "Finally. Now, you'll stop being such a brooding bitch. " I tease, and she rolls her eyes at me with a laugh. "What's the deal with you, and Quinn though? She's been staring at you since forever. " She jerks her head towards a direction, and I turn in my stand to come into view with a glaring Quinn. She's leaning against the locker next to Dave's, and I smirk at her, raising my middle finger. She literally fumes where she stands, and a laugh slips through my lips as I turn back to Lucy, saying, "She confronted me at the restroom, and I fix her in her place."
RALPH. "You're here. " I smile, moving from my seat to give Ashley a hug before she slides into the seat across from me, while I settle back on mine. "Hey, Ralph. How are you?" She smiles, removing her glasses and leaning forward. "I haven't heard from you in a while. A surprise you called. " "Yeah. We've all been busy, haven't we?" I say and she nods, keeping that gentle smile on her face. "Do you want to order anything before—" I start and she shakes her head. "No. I'm good. Are you?" "Sure, I am. " I respond and she hums, narrowing her eyes at me when I say no other word. "You wanted to meet?" "Yes. " I nod, linking my fingers and dropping them in front of me. "I want to talk to you about something important, and I don't know if you've heard it from Lucy or—" "What's it?" She asks and I take a breath before I continue, "You know she's pregnant, don't you?" Her eyes widen. "She is?" I push my head back. "You don't? I thought she'd tell you about that. " "No, she didn't.

DAVE. ✓THREE MONTHS AGO. ASHLEY'S WEDDING. ~ "Hey, I thought Ashley said you weren't in town. " I turn to see Lucy approaching me and I smile at her as she stands in front of me. "I wasn't, but I am now. " "Just for the wedding?" She teases and I laugh, "I couldn't afford to miss it now, could I?" "Definitely not. " She agrees and we both laugh before I open my arms and she gives me a tight hug before she pulls away. "It's nice to see you again, Dave. " "You too, Lucinda. You have..." I trail off, my eyes moving down her body before I meet her gaze again. "You're looking more beautiful. " "When have I ever not?" She replies cockily and I shake my head before I turn my head from her, taking a sip of the drink. "I'll talk to you later, yeah? I need to be on my way. " "See you later. " I say with a raise of the glass and she smiles before she starts to walk away. A sigh leaves my lips as I look around the room filled with people who are here to celebrate the big day of Sincl
VINCENT. My chest falls as I stride inside the house, and shut the door behind me. "And why do you have a frown on your face?" I flinch a bit at the sudden sound and relax when I look to my side to see Heather leaning against the wall with her hands crossed to her chest and a tiny smile on her face. Her blonde hair is pulled in a messy bun, and she's in one of those transparent lace with her bra and her lace panties peeking out from beneath. "Hey, angel. " I smile at her, and she strolls to my front, locking her hands around my neck while I use my free hand around her waist. She kisses the side of my face before she pulls back and whispers, "Hey. ""How long have you been waiting there?" I ask her, referring to her little hide and seek, and she says, "Since I heard the sound of your car. What's wrong? Why did you have a frown on?""Just a stressful day at work. Things didn't exactly go as we thought they would. " I tell her and she looks down at her other hand. She grabs my suitcas
ASHLEY. "Are you nervous?" Heather chuckles as she places a hand on my shoulder and I shake my head despite my trembling hands fisted in my gown. "You do look nervous, " she says playfully. "More happy than nervous?"Lillian turns to me this time with her six-year-old daughter placed on her hip. She's dressed in a simple gown that stays fitted to her body and brings out her perfect features. The woman is still looking as beautiful as ever. "I can remember your words from years ago, Ashley. You promised you'll be more happy than nervous when your big day comes. " I did say that. I said that because I wasn't the one dressed in a heavy gown with a groom waiting to finally lay the final claim on his bride. But now that I am, it'll be a lie to say I'm not nervous. I'm fucking nervous, but that also equals happiness. This is really happening: I'm getting married to that man. After years full of ups and downs, fights and amends, learning and understanding each other better – we're gettin
SIX YEARS AND A FEW MONTHS LATER. √WASHINGTON. DC. ASHLEY. "So you're back and the first person you thought to meet is your man?" Lucy's loud whining voice echoes through my ears, and a chuckle leaves my mouth as I move the phone away a bit before glueing it back to my ear. "I remember you doing the same thing months ago, backstabber. " I remind her of her playful betrayal as I walk inside the company. A company that's managed by Vincent, Sinclair along with one other friend of theirs. It's been three years since they graduated college, and decided to pursue the world of business and exchange side by side, and I'm so fucking proud of how far those men have come, and how fast they continue to grow. When Sinclair first told me about the idea, I was shocked because I wasn't expecting him to go along that line. I would have never imagined Sinclair to go with business despi
SINCLAIR. "What are you getting her?" I ask Vincent as he looks through the set of chocolates on the top rows. He looks back at me and furrows his brows, "Isn't that obvious?" "Just chocolates?" I raise my brows and he sighs, dropping the chocolate box with other things he bought before turning back to me. "Okay, what's it? Don't fucking tell me it's nothing because I know it's fucking something. You've been acting this way since we came in. " "I don't know, man, " I tell him and sigh when he narrows his eyes at me. "I just don't know what to get Little Greene. " "I told you not to call her that name around me. " He frowns and I chuckle. "You should have gotten used to it by now. She's the little one, isn't she?" He rolls his eyes and moves to the other end, and I follow behind him closely, my eyes moving across the set of gifts on the rows but nothing comes close
ASHLEY. A smile remains on my face as I stare at mine and Sinclair's last message. ME: I'm not sure I'll be able to make it. Lectures are hard on me these days. I'm so sorry, babe, you know how much I wish I could be there truly. SINCLAIR: I understand, Little Greene. My first wish was from you so that's alright. At the end of his message is a smiley face. Though I know he can put up with me not showing up on his day because of school, I also know he isn't okay like he claims to be. It's been two months since we last saw each other. Two months since we left Washington. Two months since that heartening night in the snow that's come to become one of my favourite moments with the man I love. Two months since I got an advance proposal from Sinclair Leovough, as weird as that sounds. "You honestly are a tease, " Lucy
