Marcus was perched above Havenbrook's battlements, the mist of morning evoking spectral fingers around the stones. His gaze was attentive and focused as he surveyed the horizon.

Although the black figure's presence and its dire prophecies had clouded the town, they had also strengthened his resolve. Fear had no place here; preparation was everything.

Kyra came to join him, her presence was a comfort. She asked, her eyes following his, "How do you feel about this new threat?" Marcus gripped his axe's hilt and moaned. "Kyra, I don't like it. It felt different from the warlord, but that was still one thing, darker."

Kyra gave a nod.

"We must always be prepared for everything. Eldon and the mages are hard at work strengthening our defenses, and we have dispatched scouts to maintain vigilance. However, we must be ready for the worst."
