We got to the hospital and were immediately attended to, while Dr Drew examined me, a nurse who introduced herself to us as Helena took care of Theresa and got her ready for a test. The doctor carried out series of test on me plus a scan to be sure everything was okay before administering some oral drugs to me. We were given dates to come back for anti-natal and other checkups, afterwards we went ahead to check if Theresa was done with her tests. The results of the test showed her fever developed as a result of an increase in her blood pressure, the doctor assured us it wasn’t anything serious and that all she needed was adequate rest and the drugs she was given. We decided to do some grocery shopping on our way home from the hospital, when we got to the store, Theresa made to step out to get the stuffs but Drew and I stopped her immediately.

‘’Theresa, you clearly heard what the doctor said concerning your health, you need to rest.’’ Drew said to her.

‘’Yeah you really need rest.’’ I

I hurriedly made two cups of coffee for Drew and I.He had preferred me making his coffee myself ever since I came to live with him, I microwaved the other food Catherine and Zach had made and neatly fixed them in a small tray and ready to leave the kitchen when my phone started to vibrate in my back pocket. I didn’t bother to pick up, I was going to return the call of whosoever it was when I was done eating because I was famished.‘’Mark sent a message to my email last night.’’ Drew said as soon as I entered his room and shut the door, causing me to pause in my tracks and stare at him.‘’What’s its content and how was he even able to get your personal email?’’ I asked as I walked over to the table in his room to drop the tray of food I was carrying.‘’He probably got it through one of my many magazines, he wants me to come to his aid. He said some people are trying to frame him up for something he knows absolutely nothing about and he wants me to get him the best lawyer to defend him

I managed to get out of bed the third time my phone rang.Jeez! I wondered who the caller was and why he or she couldn’t let me rest, i checked the caller ID and there was no name on it. ‘’Hmm, another unknown caller’’ I whispered to myself and answered the call bringing it closer to my ears.‘’Alexa dear, it’s me your mother, I had to look for a way to call you because Mark has my phone now. He suspected I had something to do with the letters and he decided to lay hold of my phone till further notice, this is the priest number at church. I’ll talk to you in the evenings when I go in to pray and after worship days on Sunday.’’ My mom’s voice came in as soon as I answered the phone. She sounded so scared and shaky over the phone, I just hope Mark did not lay his filthy fingers on her. Even though I was really angry with her, she was still my mother and I cared about her.‘’Um you know what mom, call me when you’re back for prayers, I’ll speak to you then.’’ I said to her calmly.‘’Alri

The drive home was quiet as neither of us said a word to one another, while Drew focused on driving and watching the road, I kept a very straight face and concentrated on my phone. Looking at my mom’s face through the rear-view mirror, I could tell she was both scared and surprised. Scared of what Mark might do when he finds out she left home and surprised to see Drew and I together, she had no idea we stayed together or even kept in touch with each other.‘’Mhm Camellia, you would be staying with us henceforth, staying with Mark in the same house would only make this whole thing difficult for us and take longer. He might even end up framing you completely for his deeds and free himself, not that you’re without a fault though. At the end, you’ll either have to help yourself or join him behind bars.’’ Drew spoke breaking the silence and making the atmosphere more tensed than it already was. I could hear my mom taking in deep breaths and trying to control her anxiety and fear.‘’Yes mom

By the time the food arrived, I had already lost my appetite.‘’I do not know exactly what is wrong but you have to eat something at least for the sake of the baby in your womb, you can’t afford to starve the little one.’’ Theresa tried to persuade me into eating, ‘’Your medications too, you know you have to take them and you need food to do so. Please do eat something.’’ she cooed again.‘’What about you, did you take your medications yet? And how do you feel?’’ I asked her trying to divert her attention.‘’Do not worry about me my dear, I’m alright now thanks to you and Drew. I’m concerned about you right now.’’ she said and really, you could tell with the way her face was laced with worry.‘’I’ll eat something and take my medication, thanks that you care.’’ I said to her causing her to smile and pat my back lightly. ‘’Everything will be fine.’’ she said before calling out for Catherine to serve my food.I ate the food absentmindedly, not that I was hungry nor did I get back my appe

I sat in Drew’s room impatiently waiting for when he would be back with my mom, he’s been gone for almost an hour now and I haven’t heard anything from him not even a text. Slowly I was beginning to feel dizzy as I was already tired about the way everything played out today, I sluggishly stood up from the sofa where I sat and headed to the balcony to feed my eyes with the night view of the sky in order to prevent myself from falling asleep. From the balcony where I stood, I also got a clearer view of the surroundings. I began taking pictures of the stars to keep myself busy, I connected my phone to the internet and shared some of the pictures on my story, I was doing everything just not to fall asleep before they arrive and be sure they were fine. I didn’t want to call Drew because I knew how he didn’t like to take calls when driving at night, maybe I should text him instead because I felt too nervous to relax at the moment. My phone beeped at that instant and I checked to see who it

A knock at the door woke me up, I stirred in my position and saw Drew was already up and heading towards door. He came back afterwards and sat back down on the bed rubbing his hands together and staring at me frantically.‘’What’s up?’’ I asked him trying to shake off the remaining sleep from my eyes.‘’Zach had come to inform me the mailman was at the door, but I had told him to tell him there was no letters for today or anymore.’’ he said looking at me and still rubbing his hands together.‘’Why?’’ I asked surprised at him.‘’There won’t be any need to send out the letters anymore because I had just spoken with Mark this morning, he had contacted me through my email again and dropped his cell phone number for me to call. I decided to call him and hear what he had to say, he begged that I get him a strong lawyer with my power and money to defend him in court as he was innocent. I informed him I knew about his crimes and I have every evidence to bring him down, I also informed him Cam

‘’If you keep sleeping this way, I wonder what would happen during the second and third trimester of your pregnancy.’’ my mom’s voice sounded calmly beside me. I turned around and looked at her, she wore the t-shirt I had dropped in her room last night and some baggy shorts.‘’I didn’t tell you I was pregnant, did I?’’ I asked her surprised. She smiled and nodded before speaking.‘’Drew did.’’ she answered ‘’He told me everything that happened from how he had met you at the club till date.’’ she said again before I protested. Thankfully she knew nothing about our little memories of lust back at home, I sighed as I got off of the bed and headed to the small refrigerator under Drew’s table to get water. I wondered why I still referred to Mark’s house as home when I’m in my home at the moment, or maybe it’s because my memories of growing up with Drew still lives there, we first fell in love there, everything about us started there.‘’I’m happy for you two, Alexa and I would support you e

DREW’S POV‘’Hurry up Alexa, we are going to be late for our appointment with the doctor, remember he has other patients.’’ I said as I walked outside to the car. I had booked an appointment with the doctor for another checkup on Alexa because she had complained lately about having severe headaches and it gave me concern, the least I wanted was for her to be in pains or any kind of inconvenience because of our child. Even though I knew being a little sick was inevitable during most pregnancies, I still wanted her to be alright.‘’Stop looking at me that way.’’ she grumbled as soon as she took her seat beside me in the car. I smiled and watched her play with the strap of her seat-belt as she tried her best to avoid the heat of my gaze, she squirmed in her seat, her pale skin flushing even more as the hot air blasted the space between us. The heat took it’s time to filter through the thin layers of her clothing and she hissed out a breath leaning towards one of the little vents, the sou

I woke up early the next morning, feeling excited and nervous. Today was Zach's 17th birthday, and I had plans to surprise him with a special gift. I got out of bed and began to get ready for the day. Drew stirred beside me, opening one eye to look at me. "What's going on?" he asked, his voice husky with sleep."It's Zach's birthday today," I replied, smiling. Drew chuckled and sat up in bed. "Yeah, that’s right. “He’s gonna get real spoilt today.”We both got dressed and headed downstairs to the kitchen. Theresa was already there, cooking up a storm. The delicious smell of pancakes and bacon filled the air, making my stomach growl with hunger."Good morning," Theresa said, smiling at us.“Good morning.” I said and went to help her set the table. “Oh dear, Catherine should handle that.” She said and called on Catherine who rushed from her room to come set the table. “It’s fine, I want to do it.” I told her and she just nodded, stepping back into the kitchen. I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement as Drew’s hands wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I leaned in, my lips brushing against his. We kissed softly, the tension between us building into something extra. Drew's hands traveled up my back, his fingers tracing the curve of my spine. I shivered, feeling a thrill run down my whole body. He deepened the kiss, his tongue tangling with mine and fighting fiercely for dominance. I felt myself getting lost in the moment, my heart racing with excitement. Drew's hands cupped my face, his thumbs tracing the curve of my cheeks. We broke apart for a moment, gasping for air."I love you," Drew whispered, his eyes burning with intensity."I love you too," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. We kissed again, the passion between us never quenching, gladly I was melting into his arms, our hearts beating as one.The sound of Drew's phone ringing broke the spell, and we reluctantly pulled apart. Drew smiled, his eyes still bu

“Who wants some?” Theresa asked walking in with a plate of sandwiches. I raised my hands and she gave me some, then Zach and Catherine. We munched in silence as we continued to see the movie, just then my phone notifications went off with series of messages. I picked up my phone and checked for who the recipient was, it was Nessa. I had just spoken to her few minutes ago, I wondered what it was she had sent to me as I cleaned my hands with a paper towel and unlocked my phone. “Jezz!” I gasped, my mouth forming an ‘O’ shape. “What’s wrong?” Theresa asked looking at me, not just her, Zach and Catherine too. “Uhm, nothing serious. I’ll just go upstairs to Drew.” I told her as I stood up and made my way upstairs. “You sure everything is fine?” She asked again before I reached the hallway. “Yeah.” I answered her and nodded. “It’s just something I have to show him.” I said and pointed towards Drew’s door. I rushed in and Drew wasn’t in his room, I knew he had to be in the study. “Gue

The next morning, Drew and I sat down to a delicious breakfast, and he mentioned his plan again. "You know, with Christmas just around the corner, I think it's time we started decorating the house," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement.I smiled, feeling a surge of excitement. "That sounds like someone trying to have so much fun!" I exclaimed.Drew grinned. "I am! And I want you to come with me to the store to pick out some decorations. We can make a day of it."I nodded enthusiastically. "That sounds like a blast! Who else is coming with us?"Drew thought for a moment. "How about Zach and Catherine? We can make it a fun group outing."I clapped my hands together. "Yes, that sounds perfect! Let's go get them."We finished breakfast, and then Drew and I called out to Zach and Catherine who both seemed excited to join us on our decorating adventure. The four of us piled into Drew's car and headed to the store. As we drove, we chatted and laughed, enjoying each other's company.Wh

I woke up early, feeling a mix of emotions. Today was the day of the court case, and I was both nervous and determined.Drew was already up, getting ready for the day. He smiled at me as I got out of bed. "Good morning, beautiful," he said. "Are you ready for today?"I nodded, taking a deep breath. "Yes, I'm ready," I said.We got dressed and went downstairs, where my mom was waiting already. We had a quick breakfast, and then we headed out to the court. As we arrived at the court, I could feel my heart racing. I was scared, but I knew I had to be strong. We went inside and found our seats in the courtroom. Mark was already there, sitting with his lawyer. He looked smug and confident, but I knew that wasn't going to last. The judge came in, and the trial began. Henry presented our case, showing all the evidence we had gathered. Mark's lawyer tried to defend him, but it was clear that they didn't have a strong case. Then it was my turn to testify. I decided to open the folder, my heart sinking Inside when I saw pictures of me dancing at the club, pictures of me picking up money from men. Drew smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Put it away, I'll always stand up for you," he said. "No matter what. He was trying to manipulate me into forgiving him, but it's not going to work. He’s so much and should pay for his crimes. And here, I got the video,” He said, handling me a small flash drive. I did as he said, stuffing the folder in my handbag alongside the flash drive. My mom stood outside the car waiting for us, "What did he say?" she asked as soon as we got close, her voice trembling with anger. I shook my head, not wanting to relive the experience. "It doesn't matter, Mom. We're not going to let him get to us. We're going to focus on moving forward and making sure he pays for what he's done."My mom nodded, her eyes shining with tears. The next morning we all headed to the precinct again, Drew wanted to speak with the lawyers concerning the video, my mom and I decided it was best if we also went along with him. Drew had asked us to sit in the lobby and wait for him while he looked for the lawyer and have a conversation with them, we agreed but few minutes sitting there, I got up and decided to do what has lingered on my mind for a long time. “I’ll be right back.” I told my mom as I got up from my seat. “You sure you don’t want me coming with you?” She asked me, concerned. “No, I won’t take long.” I told her and walked off quickly. I walked out of the lobby and into the hallway, I didn’t know the exact room where Mark is kept but I had overheard the lawyer telling Drew it was in room 12. I moved as fast as my legs could carry me down the hallway before anybody saw me or stopped me, I kept looking up at the numbers written on the door till I finally saw it. ‘Knock first! 12’ was boldly written on the door, I knew

I glanced up at the lawyer and he gave me a reassuring smile, encouraging me to speak. I smiled back at him and started to talk. “It was hell! I was still an infant when my mom had moved into his with me, I didn’t understand anything at that point but one thing I still remember was the fact that I never got any kind of fatherly love or affection from Mark. He was disgusted by everything I did and beat me up or push me at the slightest mistake I made. It got worst whenever he was drunk, he never wanted to see me happy or playing around with children my age. When I was 10, he dragged me into his room one night and raped me. His son Drew was my only companion in the house, my mom said nothing to the constant beating and abuse because she was scared. He forced me to work even before I got to the age of consent, his excuse being that I had to contribute my own share for staying in his house. The rape, torture and abuse continued whenever I was alone at home and Drew was no where to fight

The rest of the day went by with Drew and I talking, cuddling and just hanging out in his bed room. When it was time for dinner, we headed downstairs to eat with the whole family. After which we returned back to his room, watched some comedy and went to bed. I was extremely tired like the previous evening, though it was caused by different activities. It was easier for me to fall asleep and I lured Drew to sleep early as well. “The lawyer called, we should get ready to visit the police precinct.” Drew announced casually as soon as he walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist, his upper body still wet from the shower. I rubbed my eyes which were still full of sleep and yawned, stretching my body all over the bed. “Is there a problem?” I asked him. “Nothing much, I think your mom would be taken in for questioning today, you as well. I’ll go inform her later.” He said and walked into his closet. I just nodded, still lying down. “What time are we leaving?” I qu
