“Caleb, I really think we should start heading back now!” a man’s voice echoed in the dimly lit towering trees jolting Roselia and causing her phone and her violin to nearly slip from her grasp.
She was sitting on a moss-covered fallen log, humming to the symphony of her violin and enjoying the moonlit sky, as she just turned twenty-two years old, the night of her birthday.
“What did you say?” A deep, growling, and husky male voice interjected, its depth sending a shiver down her spine—even though the words weren't directed at her. Maybe it was the sheer force of his voice, or perhaps the way his tone sliced through the air, devoid of all warmth.
“I said, I think we should start heading back now” Roselia heard the man’s voice again. “It's too late, let alone dangerous for us to be wandering in another territory, all for a long-dead prophecy?”
Roselia held her breath, waiting for the man’s response, but only silence followed. Her curiosity sparked. What prophecy she thought to herself. Despite her curiosity tempting her to steal a glance, she remained frozen, waiting until at last, the man broke the heavy silence.
“Is that all?” was all he responded, causing Roselia to gasp in disbelief at how uncaring he sounded.
“W-what?” the man was shocked at his response
“Tell me, what do you want me to do?”
“Your Majesty, with all sense of care, I advise that we head right back to the pack. Going this far because of a meaningless feeling you suddenly felt doesn't mean anything. You've been reading this long-forgotten prophecy for months now and I believe it's taking over your mind. Let's head back and you'll get some rest”
“Go back on your own, I want to be alone, I'll catch up with you” he declared, his steps slowly approaching the log where Roselia hid quietly.
“W-w-what?”
“I won't repeat myself”
“Your Majesty, your father will burn me alive if I don't come back with you right now, and I'm so certain he's very worried about you right now. We should go back your Majesty”
“Adrian, didn't you hear me properly?” the man’s tone became even deeper with a hint of wildness, almost harsh. “Adrian, go back on your own, I want to stay here alone for a while I promise to catch up with you”
Roselia was left utterly shocked by the conversation unfolding before her. “Your Majesty? The pack?” her mind raced with disbelief.
Realizing the situation wasn't coming to an end anytime soon, she felt an urgent need to leave. But the fear of being seen kept her frozen. Stuck between escaping and the danger of being seen, she could only reluctantly stay hidden.
“Adrian, I suggest we let His Majesty be and go ahead without him as he said” Another man started talking. “But please, can you promise us you’d be back before sunrise? Your father would be over-worried for you to stay the night in an unknown location far from the pack members”
At that point, Roselia was so shocked she could no longer stop herself from taking a peek at them. She just couldn't believe what was happening. She just couldn't believe what her ear was hearing was happening in real life. This was absolute madness for her.
When she saw the man, her hands flew to her own mouth. Her confusion peaked and she started feeling scared.
She couldn't believe her eyes. The man had distinct-looking glowing eyes, and some fur on their body, with a snout and pointed ears.
Roselia widened eyes and then shifted to the man referred to as His Majesty but she couldn't see his face because he had his back on her.
“I won't take long out here, you don't have to be concerned and my father will be alright! I'll be back before you know it” his voice echoed with a little warmth in it. “Now GO BACK! Else face what comes to you in the next 30 seconds” Roselia took back her thought. His growling voice echoed even louder and the harshness in it was shaking.
Then just like that they both turned their backs and slowly walked away.
When the sound of their footsteps could not be heard anymore, Roselia finally came back to her senses and quickly hid herself again.
However…..
“Come out, I know you're there. Now.” The man’s command echoed through the trees leaving Roselia so stunned that she remained motionless for an extended beat. She knew he was talking to her and she detected from his tone that he didn't want to repeat himself, so holding her breath, she finally stepped out.
“Come over” the man ordered, and Roselia slowly lifted her face. She was incredibly nervous. She couldn't remember if anyone had ever made her feel this scared and nervous before in her entire life.
As soon as their eyes met, Abigail almost gasped. The man or Wolf? Wasn't merely good-looking, the term was a heavy understatement. He existed on a mysterious plane of handsome, far above any celebrity she had ever laid her eyes upon in her entire life. His statue was imposing and his Raven black hair seemed to be almost all over his body, fell naturally under the caress of his fingers, elegantly swept back from his face.
Everything about him portrayed rogue masculinity and wild allure. His strong, muscular physique was accentuated by a thick, lustrous coat of fur. His piercing eyes held a hint of mystery and intensity, drawing her in with their magnetic gaze.
But this glaring creature was glaring down at her. His dark eyes were hostile, making her want to shrink to the floor and disappear. The way he looked at her was definitely the definition of the phrase, ‘if looks could kill’.
“Who are you? A spy?” Roselia flinched at the displeasure in his voice. His dark cold eyes glimmered with a dangerous light and it made her shiver more than the dressing temperature. She couldn't help but think that this man was the perfect example of the inhumanely beautiful male she often read about in fictional stories.
Swallowing hard, Rosalie forced herself to respond to him. “No, I'm not” She shook her head, but the man’s eyes narrowed and then he moved, walking closer to her.
Time seemed to freeze and the air around her tightened, but surprisingly she was able to hold her ground despite her shaking knees. When the man stopped just a little meters away from her, she couldn't help but bite her bottom lips.
The man was scrutinizing her, looking at her like she was his prey. She knew from one look at those eyes that dangerous was quite an understatement to describe him.
“Little fox… did you hear anything?” he asked, his gaze deadlier than the sharpest dagger. She had never seen eyes as beautiful and at the same time as cold as his. He had killer eyes that could pierce through literally anything!
“I… I’m s-sorry, I didn't mean to…” Roselia managed to answer as the man raised his hands towards her, she flinched in far and instinctively closed her eyes, thinking the man was going to hurt her.
But that didn't happen.
Slowing, shocked Roselia opened her eyes.
He didn't say a word.
Her twenty-second birthday couldn't get any better, all this happening in one night? She reasoned within herself.
He was solely focused on the reddish-brown violin, made of wood. For some reason, the once dangerious glaciers in his eyes seemed to be suddenly replaced with a now odd blankness.
She glared downwards and noticed his hand touching the edge of the violin. Filled with confusion, Roselia froze in a place, her heart racing drastically. The air around her tightened once more.
“Violin…” he murmured to himself as he dropped his hands, and then the look in his eyes changed again, but he didn't look cold anymore like he did earlier on.
“Where did you get this from?” He asked, his face was clearly filled with curiosity, and Roselia failed to understand what the fuzz about what he found so interesting about the violin.
Roselia exhaled as she watched him curiously looking at the details and patterns of the violin, as though he was studying it, but she just stood there unmoving, her face watching every move he made.
“Are you a witch?” he asked without turning to look at her.
“A witch!?” Roselia slatted out, in surprise.
A whole realization of her standing in front of a human sort of creature suddenly sparked in her mind. She rethought the beginning of the whole night and didn't think he was joking about it.
The man finally turned to look at her. His dark eyes assessed her with disbelief and then, interest.Silence reigned between them for a bit. The man stared at her through his narrowed eyes and seemed astonished as if his long-awaited hope was restored.“Why are you asking me?” her lips curled up to a nervous smile that quickly turned averted her face to a curious look. “I'm just curious, are you?” he answered.Unsure of how to respond, “What if I am?” Rosalie responded, pressing her lips tight, her response felt so ridiculous to her. She saw a low glacier in his eyes and she felt even more ridiculous. There was definitely something in his eyes that attracted Roselia to him, she couldn’t explain how and why. “I've seen these from a book” Cutting Roselia off her wild thoughts. “These patterns” he whispered to himself. “Is it true that you are a king or a prince?” Roselia queried, wanting to clear the numerous questions going on in her head. She didn't think he'd answer her, his atte
A man was standing behind her, smiling at her. He was wearing a black leather jacket and he was also unearthly handsome. Is there something suddenly wrong with this place? Why is it that overly good-looking men keep popping out of nowhere? Roselia didn't dare to move. What are eyes looked for first were the dark corners of the surrounding trees, checking if perhaps another person was hanging around the corner. She didn't see anyone. She relaxed a little but was still hesitant. “You're so outrageous roselia! You didn't fear allowing yourself receive a kiss from that weird man but now you're afraid that a normal-looking might harm you or what?!” she mumbled to herself, shaking her head as though she was now convinced that she was now indeed unhinged. The man still standing there unmoving, widened his smile. Flashing his handsome face, as if he was using his beauty to lure her to speak or do something. Inste, Roselia was just standing saying nothing, and silently observing what he w
Everything that happened in the woods replayed in her mind as she continued to drive, causing her to once again flush with embarrassment. She couldn't believe it. She actually got her first kiss on the night of her birthday. It was very weird. Kids way older than her have had their first kiss even when they were younger. It was simply unbelievable. Now that she pondered about it, she couldn't fathom where she got her bravery from to be able to stand his beastly and dangerous figure, let alone allow him to kiss her. But despite the embarrassment, deep in her heart, she truly didn't regret it. And the fact that she felt a romantic bond between them even motivated her. She thought that the romantic life that she ever dreamt of was standing right in front of her. And he was the kind of man she was looking for, a dangerous man who was affectionate about her. The encounter left her deluded. Their romantic relationship wasn't pronounced yet but Roselia sensed, saw and so desperately want
Roselia was busy the entire day in the orphanage, however, that man, the creepy werewolf, man Mr. Caleb's face still popped occasionally in her head. Strangely, she couldn't completely take him off her mind no matter of busy she got. The road to her home was pretty empty at this time, but ice had already covered the road so she was driving cautiously. Her house was located near a protected national park, so she was traveling across a forested area. Out of the blue, a deer ran across the road in front of her car. She instinctively stepped on the brick pedal but it seemed she was a little too late. Tires squealed as she swerved and thankfully she avoided hitting the deer, but then she heard a loud deafening thud. Her car crashed into something–into another car because she hit screeched towards the right and it hit the tree by the roadside. Trembling, Roselia did her best to calm herself by taking deep breaths. Thankfully, she wasn't harmed. When her breathing stopped, she rushed o
Roselia was unable to sleep, her mind was completely occupied by Mr. Caleb. The reason why she didn't send a message to Mr. Man in the black jacket days ago was because she made a bet with herself and that bet was if she was to see Mr. Caleb again, She would think of it as the word giving her its blessing and granting her what she wished for the most. She told herself that if their paths crossed again without actively seeking him out, she would never let him go so easily again. So now that it happened and the fact that it happened in just a matter of days from when she last saw him.Roselia’s determination skyrocketed more than ever, she was going to do this there was no more turning back. She was excited to call Amelia but she had to wait for the man's message first to know when they would meet again, so she could prepare for it. Last she checked, there was not a single ding from our phone to indicate that she had received the message, so she started typing on her phone intending t
Inside Amelia's luxurious apartment, the two girls were taking their time with all the preparation. Rose was quite overwhelmed with all the things Amelia was doing to her, but she didn't dare to say a word or even complain. She just left her to do her thing, after all, she asked for her help, so it would be unfair to stop her. It was already noon when they heard a ding on the door, they suddenly received a package and the recipient was Rose, but there was no name on the box to say who sent the package. The only detail on it was an address, and they both were shocked to see it was the address of the most luxurious designer store in the city. Rose became even more overwhelmed. They finally opened the box, and when they lifted the cover, Rose and Amelia could not help but gasp at the sight of the beauty that they laid their eyes on. Inside the big box lay an exquisite dinner gown, glittering from the black and purple sequins that covered it. The off-the-shoulder, u-neck mermaid gown fe
A grand and splendid ballroom had been neatly arranged for what seemed to be an immensely significant and upscale occasion. Chandeliers hung gracefully from the ceiling, casting glimmers of light that spanned the room, bestowing an ambiance akin to a luminous, star-studded night sky. Throughout the room, numerous round tables were neatly placed, adorned with an elegant blend of black and purple–colors that represented wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. This masquerade ball was undoubtedly a showcase of luxury, evident in every detail from the gleaming crystal champagne glasses to the resplendent silver and black cutlery. The walls adorned with exquisite paintings and decorations added to the lavishness of the scene. However, it wasn't just these opulent elements that caught one's attention. Inside the ballroom, clusters of good-looking individuals were adorned in clothing, jewelry, and accessories that collectively amounted to millions of dollars. The women's adornments–earrings,
The music faded, marking the conclusion of their dance. Rose wasn't ready to depart the dance floor just yet, not without receiving an answer to her question. However, the man had already left her away. Mr. Caleb then guided her towards a grand staircase, and together, they ascended the steps. Proceeding along the corridor, they continued until they reached a pair of large doors that swung open to reveal an open-air garden. The garden was a beautiful sight to behold. The flowers were in full bloom, an assortment of different types and colors, and the petals seemed to be glowing from the moonlight. But that wasn't all. The view from where they stood was magnificent. The lights of the skyscraper and the lights of the city below were spread out in front of them like a brightly painted canvas. The man walked towards the railing and leaned on it, facing her. She finally realized that the man was wearing a vintage, classic black suit. She had been so focused on his face until then that sh
“Rose…” he uttered her name, calmly. His eyes looked at her with a seemingly steely decision–a decision to send this girl away, as far away from himself as possible. Since the night he first laid eyes on her in that forest, he had felt that she was likely a kind-hearted, gentle, and virtuous girl; an aura she appeared to ooze. He discerned it from the way she talked and their interactions – a hint that she might have lived a sheltered life. He would even wager that she had been raised with strong values and he matured into a person of decency and compassion. That's one of the reasons he had initially dubbed her “little fox” - she just emitted an aura of purity akin to freshly fallen snow, a striking contrast to his nature. The girl’s eyes were so clear. Unlike his, her eyes spoke of life, they weren't dead, and it was as if they were unable to hide any secret at all. His first impression of her was that she was like an untouched river, clear and pure but also vigorous. But then sh
His mind was instantly cleared of his desires. “You… you're a virgin…” he trailed off, shaking his head slowly. When the girl nodded, his eyes narrowed slightly. Breathing deeply, he closed his eyes. And when his lashes fluttered open, he couldn't hide the hint of anger that crossed his features for a fleeting moment. “Tell me… how come you're still untouched?” he licked the inside of his cheek as though he just realized what a stupid question he just ranted. “I've never had a boyfriend before, that's why,” she responded quickly, leaving him with no choice but to continue asking. “Why haven't you had a boyfriend before?” he didn't hesitate to keep asking as the woman sitting in front of him just kept flaunting new colors. “I don't know… I haven't thought about it.” For some reason, he felt like her answer this time was half-baked. Perhaps because her expression was a little flustered as if she was someone who didn't know how to lie. “Wait. Don't tell me you have never been ki
Mr. Caleb could see that this girl seemed to be seemed to be clueless about all this but he found it so hard to believe it. She was creaking twenty-three years old! He was struck with intense disbelief that she was clueless and ignorant about it. If she told him that she never masturbated or touched any toys, he might be able to believe that, but there was no way she hadn't watched, read, or heard about these things in her twenty-three years of existence! Moreover, she was the one who bravely went through with this! Unless… was she trying to be timid? He had met plenty of girls before who acted all timid like this. However, this little fox was on a whole other level. No one ever made him this speechless before but what was even more unbelievable was that he now truly felt that she wasn't trying to be timid at all, that she was indeed just too pure and innocent. But is she truly? She isn't just one hell of a skilled actress, is she?Suddenly, he moved, drawing her body close to his.
I can do it, she declared. Her voice was a little louder as if she was trying to give herself some motivation before she finally moved. She reached her arm out behind her and easily found her zip. There was shyness and hesitation in her movement as if she was a little uncertain of herself. She then pulled the zip slowly downwards, feeling her dress loosen up the moment she did so. She instinctively caught the front of her dress with her other hand and held it up so it wouldn't slip down. Once she finished unzipping her dress, she straightened up and her arms were crossed over her chest, holding the dress in place and preventing it from falling off.She looked up and lifted an eyebrow when he met her eyes as if he was asking a silent question. However, her gaze was steady and she didn't look away from him. It was obvious that her resolve was as solid as a rock. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes before carefully moving her arms away and letting her dress fall gracefully aroun
The bedroom was enormous, decorated in a masculine tone of gray and black. It was dimly lit–mood lighting, she supposed–and Rose found herself standing a few feet away from a large king-sized bed. Rose knew exactly what could happen the instant they entered this suite. She wasn't going to lie to herself. Deep within her, she still wishes that this man would be like the male leads she has read in her favorite romantic novels–a gentleman, sweet, dotting, and respectful, a man who wouldn't do this thing without love for his partner. However, she knew right from the start that he was not that type of man. He clearly showed her, and his actions spoke clearly of how he wasn't the type to love. In short, he might only want a girlfriend for company or sexual needs. Rose didn't mind, she just wanted the experience, to know what it means to have a boyfriend, to fulfill her novel-inspired desires. And here she is willingly following him to the depths of hell, despite the thudding of her puls
