“You didn’t hear wrong,” he let out, leaning into his chair and looking me dead in the eyes.

“I was not employed to be your servant or errand girl,” I said to him, making sure to keep my voice curt.

“I know that’s not what you were employed for,” he let out in a calm voice. “But you’re the only one I fully trust to do this for me.”

I let out a bitter laugh. “Trust? That’s something coming from you.”

He clenched his jaw, but he didn’t snap. “Amanda, I am your boss. I wasn’t asking you, I am ordering you.”

“Why can’t you just go pick up your special guest yourself?” I demanded.

“Because I have other matters to attend to,” he said simply.

“Convenient,” I shot back.

His gaze hardened. “Are you going to go pick them up or not?”

I wanted to say no, to storm out and leave him to deal with his guest on his own. But something in his expression- something almost vulnerable- stopped me.

“Fine,” I said begrudgingly. “Who is it?”

“You will know who it is just by seeing them,” he replied and I r

“That’s… amazing,” I finally managed to say, forcing excitement into my voice even though the words tasted bitter in my mouth. She laughed again, that same mocking edge in her tone. “Isn’t it? Damien and I are meant to be together. We just lost our way for a while.”I didn’t respond. What could I possibly say to that? After a few more agonizing minutes, we finally got to Damien’s mansion. Cloris got down from the car and walked to the door like she was the one who owned the place. She didn’t even wait for me to turn off the engine nor did she make to carry her luggage- not like she needed to anyways, I was the designated maid after all. I walked in behind her and she dropped her bag before she turned to face me. “Is Damien home now?” She asked, looking around the house with a big smile on her face. “I have no idea,” I replied her sincerely. “Last I saw him was at the office.”“Of course you wouldn’t,” she said sarcastically before walking past me. I followed her, the knots in my

A couple of days had passed since I went go pick Cloris up from the airport and my confrontation with Damien. I had been coming to the office, avoiding Damien and any other interaction while trying to get my work done. I was currently at my desk and trying to finish up with the file that was in front of me but I couldn’t seem to concentrate. My mind kept going back to Cloris, the way she dressed and carried herself, the fact that she was the perfect match for Damien and the rude way she had spoken to me. She had been to the office a couple of times since her arrival too and the office had been bubbling with gossips about her and her relationship with Damien. Everyone was gushing over how sophisticated she was and how she was the perfect woman for Damien. Every time I heard those words, I couldn’t help the anger and hurt I felt, every time I look at her, my stomach always tightened into knots. And the fact that Damien hadn’t sent her away? That only made it worse.Everything about t

“How am I supposed to just take your word for it and believe that she’s just your friend, hmm?” I asked, already tired of arguing with him. “You need to believe it because I’m telling you the truth, what would I gain from lying to you?” He said in a soft voice, sounding like he was tired of the whole back and forth. “Amanda, I would never lie to you.”I hesitated, my walls slowly crumbling under his steady gaze. “You really mean that?”He stepped even closer, his hands gently resting on my arms. “I mean it. Cloris and I are just friends. Whatever she’s feeling- that’s on her, not me. And I’m sure she doesn’t have any for me.”I wanted to believe him. I needed to believe him. But the lingering doubt in my heart refused to be silenced.“And what if she tries something?” I asked, my voice barely audible. “Then I’ll make sure I deal with it and put an end to anything that has to do with her,” he replied me, his tone firm and leaving no room for argument. “But, I need you to trust me jus

The next morning, it was the sound of my phone ringing where I had thrown it in the bed that woke me up. With sleepy eyes, I searched for me phone before rubbing them gently to see who it was that was calling that early. Immediately I saw that it was Damien, my heart started beating faster and I wondered what exactly it was that he wanted from me. “Good morning, Amanda,” he greeted, his voice smooth, instantly pushing away every single sleep that was left in my body like a potent cup of coffee. “Good morning, sir,” I replied, making sure to emphasize on the ‘sir’ and trying to keep my voice neutral. I was excited that he was finally calling outside of work for the first time in a while, well not that long because we only had that argument about a week ago. “I’ll be needing you to act as my personal assistant for today,” he announced, not wasting any time. “Juliet has other matters to attend to for me at a different branch and because you know the drill and everything the role ent

The meeting was uneventful, but the tension in my chest didn’t ease. Every glance, every touch between Damien and Cloris felt like a dagger while I was also trying my best to make sure I paid enough attention so I could jot down the important details of the meeting. After the meeting, Damien shook hands with them and Cloris was still beside him like she was stuck to him or something. We finalized everything she went back to the car, in the journey to the next location, the dynamic remained the same. Cloris dominated the conversation, recounting stories from their past while Damien indulged her with smiles and laughter.“Amanda,” Cloris said suddenly, her tone sharp. “Could you pass me my bag? It’s right behind your seat.”I turned, grabbed her designer bag, and handed it to her without a word.“Thank you, at least you’re good for something,” she said with a fake smile in her face. I looked at Damien, expecting him to say something or even defend me but instead he remained quiet she a

“What about you, ma’am?” He asked, his voice filled with concern. I swallowed the knot that had formed in my throat and faked a smile. “The steak, please. Medium rare.”“Very good,” the waiter said before retreating. As soon as he left, Cloris turned her attention back to Damien, her voice lowering to an intimate tone that made me want to scream. I tried to focus on anything other than the two people in front of me, I looked around the restaurant, taking in the beauty of the place and gentle discussions from people eating around us. But, trying to focus on something else was futile because the sound of Cloris’ laughter pulled me back to them. Damien had probably said something and even though it wasn’t funny, she made sure to always laugh at his words. It was annoying. “So, Damien, do you remember that time we were in that small café in the Marais district? The one with the tiny tables and the terrible coffee?”Damien chuckled. “How could I forget? You complained about that coffee

After going to bed with a nagging headache, I woke up the next morning with a strange heaviness in my heart but I wasn’t going to allow it ruin my day. After everything that had happened the day before, I had made up my mind to focus on getting my mission done and also stop getting bothered by whatever Damien and Cloris did, because our relationship was private and it didn’t matter what he did in public. Their relationship, whatever it was, was their business. Not mine.I repeated that mantra to myself as I got dressed for work, pulling on my favorite blazer and neatly combing my hair into a low bun. Today wasn’t about Damien. Today was about me. My job, my goals, and my peace of mind. If Damien wanted Cloris, fine. That was his choice. But I wasn’t going to lose my mind or keeping feeling hurt because of him, I knew what I was getting into. I let out a small sigh before grabbing my bag, walking out of my apartment and headed to take the bus to work. Before I walked into the office

“Or what?”“You’re playing a dangerous game, this girl,” she says in a low and dangerous voice. “One you’d regret.”“I’m not playing any games and quite frankly, you know nothing about me,” I spoke up, already tired of her behavior. “If Damien wants to be with you, then that’s fine. But, don’t try to drag me down to make yourself feel better.”She let out a loud and dangerous laughter before walking to me and only stopping few inches away. “You’re so stupid, Amanda.”“No,” I spoke up, my voice firm yet calm. “I am not stupid and I won’t take any more of your insults just because I’m trying to respect my boss. I’m not interested in any of this.”She didn’t say anything, didn’t react it even act like she had heard me and the room fell silent. The silence stretched out for a very long time and we just stood there, staring at each later. The air was filled with a tension so heavy and thick that I started feeling suffocated. I could feel my heart beating faster but I refused to back down.

AndrewAfter Amanda and I planned out how things would go and how she should meet Anna, she finally left, happier than she had come. I was grateful that she was safe and they things had turn out amazing for her. Immediately Amanda left, Anna had called me and told me how busy she was and that she only had a few minutes for break and she decided to check in on me. I assured her that I understood and I took that as the right opportunity to ask her out on a date, using the excuse of her being stressed out and we could use that time to destress while spending time with each other. She agreed and we ended the call. I immediately called Amanda and told her about what I had planned, she thanked me profusely and I ended the call, going to get ready for the date. After I was done dressing, I got into my car and headed to Anna’s apartment. When I got there, I got down from my car and walked to the door with some flowers I had picked up on my way there. “Okay, you can do this, Andrew,” I sa

Andrew “I find it hard to believe you,” Anna finally said, her voice cracking. “If you were able to hide this from me, what more are you hiding from me?”“I’m not hiding anything from you, Anna. I swear it,” I replied her. She didn’t reply but she turned away from me and started pacing around the room. I looked at her silently, waiting for her to say something. I had been so worried about Amanda and I had said what I shouldn’t have and now I had angered her, I prayed silently, hoping that she would forgive me. “Anna, please,” I murmured again. “Just listen to me.”She stopped pacing and turned to face me, her blue eyes filled with uncertainty. “Do you swear, Andrew? Swear to me that’s there’s nothing more to you and Amanda expert being friends.”I quickly got up and walked to her, taking her hands and holding on to them firmly, my eyes locking with hers. “I swear by everything I have, Anna. There’s nothing. Amanda is just a friend and that is what she would forever remain.”“Prom

Andrew “I’m sorry okay?”“Apology accepted,” I replied, mirroring her smile. We pulled away from each other and she went to turn on the TV picking movie of her choice like I had asked her to.We sat on the floor, my legs open and her in between them, resting on my chest as we watched the movie. We watched the movie for a while before we started talking about other thing, barely paying any mind to the movie that was playing. “Do you want more cookies?” She asked, picking up the plate and bringing it closer to me. I grinned. “If I eat any more, I won’t fit into my jeans tomorrow.”“Your loss,” she teased, biting into one herself. This was what I loved about Anna- things with her always felt so easy, so natural. But with Amanda, it was the opposite, I still couldn’t wrap my head around how they were related, they were different. Anna sat up before turning and facing me directly, bending her head slightly with a small smile on her face. “So… how’s Amanda? I haven’t seen her around

The air was filled with a suffocating tension as I drove, I held on to the steering wheel tightly, driving through both empty and busy streets trying to get to the location Amanda had sent me as fast as I could. She was sitting beside, silent and nervously staring out the window. I knew how badly she wanted to save Damien, it was weird to me, when she had left the office without a word, he didn’t even look bothered or try to reach out to her. But here she was, trying all her best to save the man that could have possibly killed her father. She didn’t mind, all she wanted was for him to be safe, even if he’d never get back to her. I admired her and how trusting she was because she was going to meet a guy names Jay. I didn’t know why, but the minute she mentioned his name, I started feeling weird about it because something about the man even though I had never met him seemed suspicious. I tried telling her but she brushed it aside and said he had always helped her. I wanted to stop h

After I settled into my apartment, I showered and had a change of clothes then headed to Damien’s house, I wasn’t going waste anymore time or let doubt could my mind. I was going to do this now. I needed to tell him everything. Damien’s house loomed large and imposing as I approached the gates. My heart pounded with each step. Would he even let me in?The guard at the gate must have somehow recognized me and he allowed me through without hesitation. I walked to the front door of the house, my hands shaky and my stomach in knots. Hesitantly I ringed the bell, expecting the maid to come open the door but, instead, it was Damien who came to open the door. My breath caught in my throat as I stared at him and for a moment, none of us said anything. “Amanda?” he finally spoke up, his voice soft and filled with surprise and an emotion I couldn’t quite place my hands on. I let out a small sigh. “It’s Emma,” I said softly. “And I came back… for you.”His eyes widened in shock me he moved

Damien’s words kept replying in my head over the weeks that passed. He was right, I had to live my truth if I really wanted to make things right. There was no need in pretending to someone I wasn’t, I had done that for a reason and even if I had been successful with my mission. I was still unhappy and I felt bitter. If living my truth was what would make Damien forgive me or even come back to me, I didn’t mind. But, most of all, I was doing this for myself. I needed to reconnect with my family and give myself the chance to be happy. I booked an appointment with the surgeon that had changed my face years ago and started packing my things for the trip to Miami. A few days later, my trip was booked, my bags were packed and I headed to the airport. The flight there was long but it was worth it, I hated traveling but I had to do this. Immediately, the plane landed, I ordered a ride to the hotel I had booked down and I didn’t bother resting before I headed to the clinic. I alighted

  • SEDUCING MY EX’s FATHER FOR REVENGE    Chapter 95

Few days after Jay was arrested and I was saved from almost dying, it was aired on the news. Apparently, Jay was not what he had painted himself to be to me. He was evil and sinister, in fact he had been diagnosed with a mental disorder and was supposed to be treated but he didn’t get help. All he wanted was revenge, just like… me. They had also raided the creepy looking building he had been staying in and they had found the documents that contained all the necessary information to prove that Damien was innocent. Jay had it all this time but still lied that we had to go to the warehouse just because he wanted to get rid of me, he knew Damien was innocent but was blinded by revenge that he wanted him to suffer no matter what. A tear slipped down my face and another and then another. I was now fully crying and I just couldn’t stop myself. My life was messed up, no one in it was good and I feared that the one person that might’ve been the truth would want nothing to do with me. I wa
