JAMES AND CARLY "Imagine my surprise when I knocked at your door last night, and your father answered." James said, holding Carly's hand, practically pulling her down the hallway. He noticed that her hand was cold, but he made no effort to warm them. James had waited at the front entrance of the school building for Carly's bus to arrive. The moment she stepped off, he was at her side, squeezing her hand and dragging her along. He always needed to be in control. She had gotten so used to being the follower that she didn't really notice until she almost tripped over her own feet. She was pigeon-toed and it astounded him that she didn't fall more than the average person. She moved her thin bangs from in front of her face, in one swift move and looked at her boyfriend. "Yeah, he told me that," She said, "I got in so much trouble." James glanced over at her. He didn't care about how much trouble she had gotten in. He was upset at the fact that he received no warning and was embarrassed. H
KAHLAN, SANDINO, JAMES, AND BROOKE "Everyone knows," Brooke replied quietly to James, after pulling him down by the gym hallway, in total isolation for the time being. It was still pretty early. Most students were either in the cafeteria or out on the courtyard. James chuckled as if it were a joke. Brooke wasn't the type to freak out unless it came to Sandino or Carly. And based on her attitude, it was. "Will you relax? No one knows anything. Its speculation." He had heard about the rumors. Many people have asked questions, but of course, him being the man that he was, he kept it a secret. Mysteries, secrets... that was all he was about. It was fun to him. It was a game. "Its not speculation, if its true," Brooke murmured, crossing her arms, staring her private lover down. James looked at her. "Did you talk to Ashley?" It was strange to James that Brooke cared whether or not Ashley would tell Carly. In realty she should be worried about the entire school, since she believed everyone
KAHLAN, SANDINO, JAMES, AND BROOKE James stared past the pretty brunette with a smile of satisfaction. "What?" Brooke asked. The buff man lifted up his hand, and with his index finger, pointed down the hall. Brooke turned, spotting Sandino with another girl. Her face practically hit the floor. James chuckled some more, this time a bit looming. Her facial expression was priceless. Brookes plan was to break up with James, and focus on Sandino. Its funny how things turned out. "Yeah," I said with a smile, trying to catch my breath, "Just like that." There was a look of realization in Sandino's eyes. Was he just as surprised by this moment as I was? "You look nervous." I chuckled, shaking my head ever so slightly. "No. Not at all." I lied. To be honest, I hadn't been in such a close proximity with a male in a while. He grinned. He had a nice smile. I held the fabric from his gray and black boy band shirt in my fingers tightly. "Is this working?" I moved my head to the side just a bit
JAMES AND CARLY Carly had run across the football field and to the back entrance of the gym. She was getting ready to open the door and head inside, When James grabbed her by her slim arm, and whirled her around. Her baby blue eyes were red and watery, but no tears seemed to make their way out. Right now, she seemed more stunned than anything. He looked at her, thinking he had the right words to say, but it seemed he didn't. She stared with hope. "Please tell me it isn't true," She sniffled. James pulled her a little closer. "Please tell me James." He stared. In the end there were only two ways he could answer this. One was to lie, while the other was to tell the truth. He was mean, but he wasn't that mean. After all, he loved Carly. He would never break her heart, at least that's what he told himself. "Of course not," he lied. His hard eyes were soft and caring. Carly stared into them. "Baby, I love you." "Then what was that back there? What was Justin talking about? Why did it so
CARLY AND BROOKE Brooke sat at the table alone, waiting for Carly. She wondered the reason as to why Carly was late. Maybe she found out! Her mind was going crazy. Carly was the best person in her life. She was always so sweet and caring, and Brooke hated herself for what she had done. What would she do if she ever lost Carly? She took a deep calming breath. It didn't matter, she told herself. She had been lying to her for so long, it had to be stopped. By the end of the day she was going to come clean to Carly. No secrets are better left kept. Besides, she hated the guilt she was feeling. Carly stormed up, taking a seat. Brooke sat quietly. Oh yes, something was wrong. She looked very upset. Just be quiet, Brooke thought. If she knows, she will talk to you. She waited a few short moments and she felt like she couldn't take it anymore. "Whats wrong?" Brooke asked, breathing the silence. Carly glanced over at her best friend. "You look mad." Brooke could always read Carly's expression
KAHLAN AND CHAD The day finally ended. It was short at first, but everything now seemed to be dragging along. I headed quietly to the bus, getting in the back of a very long line, waiting to climb aboard. I laid my head against the metal below the window, letting out a sigh. God, I wish I had my own car. I wish I didn't have therapy. I wished for so many things at this particular moment. "Hey, where are you going?" Chad asked, running up. He startled me a bit. "Home," I said softly with a smile. "You don't want a ride?"I stared the chocolate young man in his face, thinking over the idea. Was I to turn down his offer because of the destination I was heading to? I took a quick glance around, wondering where the other guys were. "The guys are staying after for football." He must've been able to read minds. What was the harm in a ride? I gave a nod. "Um, yeah, sure, But I'm actually not going straight home." I wanted to hit myself in the face for lying. Why wasn't I honest? I could ha
CARLY Carly tried her hardest not to think about her dad being home while she was at school. If she did, it would cause her mind to wander and she wouldn't pay attention to what was going on in class. Her dad was the best person she had in her life. He was a hard worker. She understood that work would require him to be gone for days, even weeks at a time. So when he was home, she made it her mission to spend as much time with him as possible. When the school day ended, she felt joy. After all, she wouldn't be going home to an empty house. She really hated that her car was down and out for the time being, and the fact that her boyfriend seemed too busy to offer her a ride home. So, she took the bus. The bus ride seemed so slow that Carly thought she was going to lose her mind. Eventually, she made it home, practically skipping up the few steps that led to the porch. She walked into the house with a grin on her face, only to see bags and suitcase sitting next to the door. Her mouth drop
KAHLAN AND DAMON I found myself back in Damon Meir's office. His green eyes stared into my face, as I looked back at him. There was an awkward. I cleared my throat. "Sooo?" He straightened himself up in his giant chair, as if he were trying to figure out how to get the ball rolling today. As I waited, I thought about Damon apologizing. I mean, he did it so much to Tina, but I, the actual patient, wouldn't get a sorry. "So, lets start simple today," Damon finally started, "I know yesterday was hard, and I am going to take full responsibility for that. I do apologize." That's what I wanted, among a list of other things, like walking out the door and never coming back. "It's fine," I replied. "Its not like I was making it easier on you." He gave a soft smile. "So, we are agreeing to start over. Begin a friendship?" A friendship? Why did it feel like I would be making a commitment if I said yes? God, why did I have to overthink everything? "I don't really have another choice," I said
~ELLA~ Ella rushed up to one of the cops on the scene. The waiting around was killing her. The cops had begun to clear out one part of the building. There was an automotive class-taking place, and their escape was out the garages of the North side of the building. Officers were planning on storming through there. That was the last that she had heard of their plans. There were two students hurt, but at least ten evacuated. That gave some hope. There were no fatalities. Ella wanted to help."I'm an off duty nurse," she stated, "I'm here to offer any assistance." The cop looked at her."Do you have your badge?" She pulled out her nursing badge and let the cop examine it. At least he was being thorough."Go on over to the par
~JUSTIN, EMETT AND MYA~ Mya snuck the guys into one of the pool exits. It threw them off course just a bit to get the front office, but as long as they got inside, Justin didn’t care. He would find a way to Kahlan."How did you know this would be open?" Justin asked quietly. He wasn’t comfortable with Mya leading them. As men, they should be protecting her. She should be behind them."They cut the electricity off," she whispered back, "That means that the doors that were usually on manual locks, would open." Justin never paid attention to things like that, so he was glad that Mya did, otherwise, they may have still been outside, trying to find a way in, or they would have given up."How did you know there were
~KAHLAN AND BROOKE~ "It’s been five minutes!" Brooke shouted at me as quiet as she could when I returned to her side. She had gotten loud as if she was angry, but she was scared. She was sweating bullets, her face looking as if she had gotten caught in the rain."I know, I'm sorry," I said, "Did anyone text back?" She shook her head. "Damn it." Brooke looked at me. She wanted so badly for me to have good news for her, but I didn’t."What are we going to do?" she asked as she placed a hand over her belly. I stared down at her stomach. It was more than out lives at stake, it was the life of this unborn child. I couldn't give her an answer; so instead, I looked around, trying to come up with our next move.
~AMY, CHAD AND JASON~Jason looked, asking himself the same question. What was his problem? The fact that his friend and girlfriend lied to him… yep, that was it."I don't have a problem," Jason answered softly."Well you sure do stomp around like you do," Chad said."I'm upset," Jason replied. "I don't know how I should feel, but I know I don't hate you. Most of me misses you guys, but there is still a part of me that can't get over the fact that you two lied. And when I think about it, I can see you guys in my head, and it just makes me sick to my stomach.""Let us help you get over it," Amy said getting to her feet, "trying to avoid us and staying mad at us obviously isn't helping." Jason looke
~JUSTIN~ Everyone got to their knees outside, at the sound of another gunshot. The group was pushed back further from the school as more people escaped. Now officers had arrived on the scene. They had begun pushing everyone back across the parking lot, closer to the street and the surrounding homes. Justin couldn’t just stand around and do nothing. He was not the type to feel powerless."I have to get in there," he demanded, pushing past Carly. He didn’t even get a few feet, before he was thrown to the ground. He landed on his left knee pretty hard, feeling the pain of the pavement. He looked up and saw Coach Myers on top of him."Where do you think your going boy?" the coach growled."I ha
~KAHLAN AND CARLY~“So you have a date tonight?” Carly asked as we made our way to the front of the school. I glanced over at her as we walked down the hall. I had to stop by my locker to drop off my textbooks. We agreed that to car pool for a while. It saved time and gas money.“Its not a date.” “Yeah, but you want it to be.” She grinned. I looked over at her. It seemed that Carly might have knew more than I did. Justin and I had discussed going out together. As far as I was concerned it was just as friends. Though I wasn’t sure exactly what we were doing. Justin just said it was a birthday surprise.“Its two friends hanging out.” I responded. She looked at me. &l
~CARLY AND JUSTIN~Justin rushed through the crowds of teens pooling into the lunchroom. He was chasing one particular person down, and wanted to get to her before she reached their lunch table. He reached out and touched Carly’s shoulder, pulling her back.“Hey,” she said with a slight chuckle, his force a bit surprising. The last time she was grabbed like that, James was the one with the force. She was able to push the thought away from her mind rather quick. “What’s going on?” He seemed eager.“What do you think I should get Kahlan for her birthday?” That wasn’t a question she thought he’d ask.“Well, what do you think she wants?” She questioned, “besides you naked in a bow?”
~BROOKE AND SANDINO~ Brooke knocked on Sandino’s door. She had heard that he didn’t go to school, and figured now would be the best time to go over, since his mother would be at work. Dino opened the door, looking at her through the screen."What do you want?" he asked. She looked. So far, this was going better than expected. She didn’t even think that he would open the door, let alone speak to her."Just to talk.""I don’t want to talk. Not to you anyway.” He looked as if he had been sleeping the day away, hiding from the embarrassment that she caused."I don’t want you to hate me," she spoke out. Hate was a strong word, but if anyone was going to
~KAHLAN AND JUSTIN~ I stood at my locker, putting away my books when Justin walked up to me. I could feel his presence before I saw her. He stood behind me."Hey," he said. I turned around to look at him. We hadn't talked since what happened in my pool, and since I blurted all my thoughts and feelings at the lunch table. It seemed that our time had now come. I was ready to talk to him and it seemed that he was ready to talk to me."Hi," I said quietly."How are you?" he asked."I'm good," I answered, "You?""Not so much," He responded, putting his hands into his pockets. I looked at him. He did look a mess, as if he were losing sleep
