THE TWINS Mya waited in the living room downstairs, flipping through channels. Nothing was on that would help pass the time. Amy said it wouldn't take her long to get ready, but she was nowhere to be found. Instead, she was up in her bedroom, and hadn't come out the last two hours. Mya was starting to question if her sister was still alive. She took a deep breath, as she got chills on her bare arms and legs. It was bad enough that she was wearing a dress, but she had to accompany it with heels. God, she was upset with Amy for getting her into this. And she was really upset with the wait. Her date would be here soon, and she'd be damned if she had to entertain Amy's company so she could finish getting ready. Mya turned off the TV and slid off the couch onto her feet, trying to keep her balance. Amy insisted that she stop being a baby, because the heels weren't that high. Mya, however, did not care. Heels were heels. They were not sneakers or house shoes, which is what she was comfortab
CARLY Carly lay in her bed, staring up at the ceiling. She had finally stopped her pacing. She was able to shower and get comfortable in bed, but still, James was in the back of her mind. She hadn't heard from him. It was strange. Just maybe she'd be lucky and he wouldn't contact her. Even if he did, maybe this time she could get away with her lie. He could always tell when she was lying and she hated it. But, she could always tell when he was lying as well. Maybe things would turn out differently this time. If he didn't reach out tonight, it would give her time to be convincing about her father still being home. Her cell rang. She sat up quickly, looking at her screen. It was James. She was a little too hopeful. If she ignored his call, she'd be in more trouble, so she picked it up. "Hey sweetie," James said, "Is your dad home? I was thinking we could go to that party tonight." She faked a disappointed sigh. She had heard of the party that Jason Fleming was throwing, and it made no
DAMON AND BROOKE Damon knocked on Brooke's door. He had been spending so much time working on his case, as well as getting settled back into the family home, that he felt like he wasn't spending enough time with his family. After all, he said that he wanted to get to know them again and it didn't really seem like he was doing that. He was just going to have to try harder. When she didn't answer, he just walked in. She stared at herself in the mirror. She wore a jean skirt that looked two sizes too small with a tight black laced, thin strapped tank top, along with knee-high boots. He stared. What the hell was this? Where is she going? He wondered what his younger siblings did when his mother was out at night, working hard. It looked as if he had just gotten his answer. "What are your plans for the night?" He asked his little sister "I'm going out with some friends," she answered. Damon waited for her to turn around and look at him while she spoke, but she didn't. He was going to yell
JASON AND THE TWINS Jason felt like he was on top of the world. Usually, he'd be the one to look at the other guys in school with envy, but tonight, it was the complete opposite. He was the one being envied. Why wouldn't he be? After all, he had not only one date, but two, and it was the twins! Amy and Mya held on to him for the last hour, both of them connecting to him by the arm. He made his way from group to group, playing the role of a good host. Amy was good at becoming part of the conversation. Though she always seemed a bit shy, tonight she made an effort. He wished he could say the same about Mya. All she did was stare and listen. Ever so often he would see her smile. He would also catch the glances from his friends. They would give a positive head nod or grin. Yes, it was his night. Amy had dragged her sister and Jason over to his circle of preppy girls, that she considered to be her friends. As he talked about the cheerleading tryouts and the best suntan lotion, Amy couldn'
KAHLAN AND SANDINO I had been at the party for a few hours now. I didn't run away from the group of boys. Something about them felt good and safe. I was so into the guys, that I didn't even realize Ashley was roaming around Jason's house. When I first saw her, I couldn't believe how amazing she looked. For a moment, I felt like I turned into one of the guys. "Wow." I checked her out, not in the way a male did, but in the way of a female. With a little jealousy and thinking I would kill to look the way she did. I didn't consider myself to be very fit. I was just blessed to have a fast metabolism and never gained too much weight, while Ashley worked to have the figure she did and it paid off. She wore a baby pink dress that hugged her body. It fit just right. Her little boobs didn't look so little now. I could tell that she was wearing a push-up bra and the neck of the dress showed her chest off, making them much bigger than what they really were. "You look great!" She shouted at me,
ASHLEY AND JUSTIN Ashley didn't expect Sandino to rush up and take Kahlan away. Nor did she expect her to be gone for so long. She decided she didn't want to sit here and waste time. She looked over at Justin once more and he pretended as if he didn't see her. He stared off into a whole other world. She walked over to him. "Hey J," she said, arms folded in front of her. His head snapped in her direction, as if she had scared him. Maybe he really was daydreaming, leaving behind the world. Ashley hadn't called him that since their breakup. "Hey." "Can I talk to you for a moment?" She asked. He stared. Talk? That was a new one. Did that mean there'd be no arguing or stomping of the feet? She took a deep breath. What harm could come from a little talk? Besides, he needed to talk to her anyway. He needed to let her know what was going on. He needed to let her know what he had been thinking these past few days. "Sure." "So, what's up?" Justin asked, as he and Ashley sat on the front la
KAHLAN AND SANDINO I didn't think it would be so hard to climb a ladder to the second floor. Turns out I was wrong, not taking into account that I was clumsy and slightly afraid of heights. By the time I had reached the second floor window, I froze. "What's going on?" Sandino asked from below me. He was right on my heels the entire time. I cleared my throat. "I'm afraid to let go of the ladder..." I said softly. He chuckled. "Seriously? This was your idea... You didn't think this through did you?" I didn't respond. And when I didn't, Sandino showed he was a little concerned for me. "Just use one hand and push it open. It's just a simple push." He spoke as if he knew the window would be unlocked. I did as he said, moving extremely slow and with caution. One push. As soon as the doubled window opened, I quickly climbed in. Sandino called himself being helpful as he gave me a little push with his hand to my butt. I waited till we were both inside before bringing it up. "Don't ever to
CHAD AND KAHLAN It wasn't hard to find my group, they never left the kitchen. Justin and Ashley were gone. It was just Chad, Chris, and Brandon. "Where did you disappear to?" The basketball star asked, coming closer to me. I stared at him. I knew that he saw me leave with Sandino. I think the question was more, What were you two doing? There was something a bit off with Chad. He liked to know everything that took place...and I wasn't sure if I liked that. "I just had to help one of my boys." He gave a nod, eyes smiling for him a bit. I wondered what was going through his mind. "Sandino and his girl troubles." I smiled. " Well, now that you helped him with his problem, do you think you can join me by the pool?" "The pool," I questioned, "What for?" "I just want to talk to you." I looked at him for a moment, curious. "Sure." "So what school did you come from?" Chad asked. I looked over at him. I knew this was going to happen, I thought in my head. I knew I wasn't going to be able
~ELLA~ Ella rushed up to one of the cops on the scene. The waiting around was killing her. The cops had begun to clear out one part of the building. There was an automotive class-taking place, and their escape was out the garages of the North side of the building. Officers were planning on storming through there. That was the last that she had heard of their plans. There were two students hurt, but at least ten evacuated. That gave some hope. There were no fatalities. Ella wanted to help."I'm an off duty nurse," she stated, "I'm here to offer any assistance." The cop looked at her."Do you have your badge?" She pulled out her nursing badge and let the cop examine it. At least he was being thorough."Go on over to the par
~JUSTIN, EMETT AND MYA~ Mya snuck the guys into one of the pool exits. It threw them off course just a bit to get the front office, but as long as they got inside, Justin didn’t care. He would find a way to Kahlan."How did you know this would be open?" Justin asked quietly. He wasn’t comfortable with Mya leading them. As men, they should be protecting her. She should be behind them."They cut the electricity off," she whispered back, "That means that the doors that were usually on manual locks, would open." Justin never paid attention to things like that, so he was glad that Mya did, otherwise, they may have still been outside, trying to find a way in, or they would have given up."How did you know there were
~KAHLAN AND BROOKE~ "It’s been five minutes!" Brooke shouted at me as quiet as she could when I returned to her side. She had gotten loud as if she was angry, but she was scared. She was sweating bullets, her face looking as if she had gotten caught in the rain."I know, I'm sorry," I said, "Did anyone text back?" She shook her head. "Damn it." Brooke looked at me. She wanted so badly for me to have good news for her, but I didn’t."What are we going to do?" she asked as she placed a hand over her belly. I stared down at her stomach. It was more than out lives at stake, it was the life of this unborn child. I couldn't give her an answer; so instead, I looked around, trying to come up with our next move.
~AMY, CHAD AND JASON~Jason looked, asking himself the same question. What was his problem? The fact that his friend and girlfriend lied to him… yep, that was it."I don't have a problem," Jason answered softly."Well you sure do stomp around like you do," Chad said."I'm upset," Jason replied. "I don't know how I should feel, but I know I don't hate you. Most of me misses you guys, but there is still a part of me that can't get over the fact that you two lied. And when I think about it, I can see you guys in my head, and it just makes me sick to my stomach.""Let us help you get over it," Amy said getting to her feet, "trying to avoid us and staying mad at us obviously isn't helping." Jason looke
~JUSTIN~ Everyone got to their knees outside, at the sound of another gunshot. The group was pushed back further from the school as more people escaped. Now officers had arrived on the scene. They had begun pushing everyone back across the parking lot, closer to the street and the surrounding homes. Justin couldn’t just stand around and do nothing. He was not the type to feel powerless."I have to get in there," he demanded, pushing past Carly. He didn’t even get a few feet, before he was thrown to the ground. He landed on his left knee pretty hard, feeling the pain of the pavement. He looked up and saw Coach Myers on top of him."Where do you think your going boy?" the coach growled."I ha
~KAHLAN AND CARLY~“So you have a date tonight?” Carly asked as we made our way to the front of the school. I glanced over at her as we walked down the hall. I had to stop by my locker to drop off my textbooks. We agreed that to car pool for a while. It saved time and gas money.“Its not a date.” “Yeah, but you want it to be.” She grinned. I looked over at her. It seemed that Carly might have knew more than I did. Justin and I had discussed going out together. As far as I was concerned it was just as friends. Though I wasn’t sure exactly what we were doing. Justin just said it was a birthday surprise.“Its two friends hanging out.” I responded. She looked at me. &l
~CARLY AND JUSTIN~Justin rushed through the crowds of teens pooling into the lunchroom. He was chasing one particular person down, and wanted to get to her before she reached their lunch table. He reached out and touched Carly’s shoulder, pulling her back.“Hey,” she said with a slight chuckle, his force a bit surprising. The last time she was grabbed like that, James was the one with the force. She was able to push the thought away from her mind rather quick. “What’s going on?” He seemed eager.“What do you think I should get Kahlan for her birthday?” That wasn’t a question she thought he’d ask.“Well, what do you think she wants?” She questioned, “besides you naked in a bow?”
~BROOKE AND SANDINO~ Brooke knocked on Sandino’s door. She had heard that he didn’t go to school, and figured now would be the best time to go over, since his mother would be at work. Dino opened the door, looking at her through the screen."What do you want?" he asked. She looked. So far, this was going better than expected. She didn’t even think that he would open the door, let alone speak to her."Just to talk.""I don’t want to talk. Not to you anyway.” He looked as if he had been sleeping the day away, hiding from the embarrassment that she caused."I don’t want you to hate me," she spoke out. Hate was a strong word, but if anyone was going to
~KAHLAN AND JUSTIN~ I stood at my locker, putting away my books when Justin walked up to me. I could feel his presence before I saw her. He stood behind me."Hey," he said. I turned around to look at him. We hadn't talked since what happened in my pool, and since I blurted all my thoughts and feelings at the lunch table. It seemed that our time had now come. I was ready to talk to him and it seemed that he was ready to talk to me."Hi," I said quietly."How are you?" he asked."I'm good," I answered, "You?""Not so much," He responded, putting his hands into his pockets. I looked at him. He did look a mess, as if he were losing sleep
