I MUST LOOK FOR HER

DRAKE

I can't believe what Alicia has just done. I don't know whether her actions are equal to a rejection or not. If it's a rejection then it will be too bad. As the Alpha, and as a man, it would have been better if I was the one doing the rejection.

There is however something I don't understand. Where is her wolf or why is it not responding? Usually, when mates meet, it's their respective wolves that feel the attraction.

My wolf already identified her as my mate, so why didn't her's do the same? So many questions linger in my brain after she left and I can't find any peace because my wolf won't let me.

“She will come back brother, don't worry so much.” Victor says as he pours some coffee for me. Victor is my step brother.

My mother died a long time ago when I was a small boy. I remember how much she loved me because I was her only child. When she died my father was very devastated and withdrawn. He retreated into some sort of cocoon and concentrated all his efforts on pack work. I was raised by our maidservants throughout my teenage years.

Then at some party my father met another mate and things moved swiftly. He brought her to stay with us and within no time she begat Victor. I was so happy that I now had a brother. Since the day I first saw him, I have grown to love him and he is always in my life.

The small boy is so full of wisdom and sometimes I allow him to advice me.

When my father handed over the leadership of the pack to me he moved to a small house near the woods with his mate but Victor remained with me. We have lived together for three years now and our relationship is like that of real brothers, not step brothers.

“So you think so? Why do you think so?” I ask him.

“Because you are irresistible. You are the Alpha of this great pack and any girl will be honoured to be your mate. You saw last night, more than a hundred of them were here, all praying that they be the one who is chosen to be yours.” He says. For the first time I don't like his advice but I don't let him know.

“Which makes this girl special. Look, all the others you have described were only too eager to throw themselves at me, but this one wasn't even interested in attending the party. And when I invited here, where I hear she unwillingly came, she blows hot and cold.” I reply.

I can't understand this. This is the very first time a girl has behaved like this in my presence. Some years ago when I was in college the girls were all over me, asking to be my lovers but I never got close to them, except one.

Josephine.

The reason I chose to be in a relationship with her was because I wanted company. She was from a wealthy business family that spoilt her by giving her lots of money. She had cars, expensive clothes and jewelry and we lived large.

But when I came back here and became the Alpha I had to call off the relationship. It was not going anywhere because she never wanted to be a mother and she had developed an affinity for traveling. I couldn't travel with her and that marked the end of us. Last I heard about her was that she was enjoying life in the Bahamas.

Also, our parting was a relief because I was now free to do like other werewolves, I had to get a mate, the one chosen for me by our mother, the moon goddess.

I started looking for my mate immediately after I became the Alpha. I did this by attending parties, organizing parties and even walking incognito within my pack but I was not finding her. Then some days ago I got a revelation while I slept, that my mate was right here in the pack and if I looked closely I was going to find her.

That's why I organized the party and that's how we are where we are now.

“No one can reject the trappings of power my brother. Just relax and it will only be a matter of days before she comes back here begging.” Victor says. If it were the ordinary girls, the one at the party yesterday, I would agree with him. But there is something different about Alicia that I saw, and that is what attracted me to her even more.

Her face was once very beautiful, but the scar now makes her look otherwise. However, that's what I like about her. She's not like the others who had a thick layer of make-up on their faces and foul smelling perfumes on their bodies. Alicia was all natural, not pretending to be what she wasn't. Now this is one girl I can't allow to get away from me. She is going to be my mate. She is going to become the Luna of this pack.

“This pack needs a Luna. As the Alpha I need support in leading it. The females of this pack need someone to look up to. Ever since father resigned and his mate followed suit, the office has always been vacant. I need to find Alicia. She is my destined mate.” I say.

“Just don't look desperate. If you go looking for her she'll think that you need her so much while in real sense it's her who needs you most.” He says.

“I don't care. I'm going to find out where she lives. I'm going there to meet her parents and convince her to come with me. That is the first thing I'll do tomorrow morning.” I conclude.

“Well, good luck." He says. I need to get back to work. There are several phone calls I need to make before I sleep. I hear that rogues are wreaking havoc in nearby packs and I need to know from my border guards whether they have heard or seen something.

“Well, Victor, I'll see you later. Let me do some work.”

“Thanks brother. I'll be in my room if you need me.”
