Evangeline groaned at the pulsating ache in her head.
'Ugh. I must've drank too much.' She thought as she opened her eyes and slowly sat up.
She flipped the pillow on her side and got out of the blanket only to realize that she was completely naked. She looked around with the intention to look for her clothes only to find a man on the bed naked as well.
Evangeline gasped but immediately covered her mouth as soon as she realizes that she just slept with another man.
Evangeline's heart raced as fragmented memories of the previous night flooded her mind. Panic set in as she tried to piece together the events leading to this unexpected situation. The room, the scent of unfamiliar cologne, and the man beside were the proof of her drunkenness.
She hurriedly searched for her clothes, desperately hoping this was just a terrible mistake.
Evangeline tiptoed out of the room, her heart pounding with each step. Avoiding to see the man she slept with who was still sound asleep, she slipped back into her clothes with a sense of urgency. Guilt gnawed at her conscience as she silently made her way out, desperately hoping to leave the place.
Once outside, she hailed a cab, her mind clouded with different thoughts. Evangeline stared out of the cab window, the weight of her actions sinking in. Despite the chaos within, she directed the cab to take her back to the house she once called home.
When she finally arrived, Evangeline felt a bit scared before she opened the front door, like the house held memories she wasn't ready for.
As Evangeline cautiously entered the house, the tension in the air was palpable. Before she could even take a breath, Zach's voice erupted in frustration.
"Where have you been?! And what are you wearing?! My God, Evangeline!" Zach's words carried anger and concern, his eyes narrowing at her as if trying to decipher the secrets she might be hiding.
Evangeline who was emotionally exhausted and raw, met his gaze. "I needed some time, Zach. I went out."
His frustration grew, "Out? In that outfit? Do you have any idea what you've put me through?"
Their voices escalated, creating a storm of emotions in the once-quiet house. The living room became the stage where Zach and Evangeline were the actors and Monica was merely the audience applauding.
Evangeline, tears streaming down her face, tried to explain, "I just needed a break, okay?"
Zach's eyes bore into hers, his tone cutting through the air, "Ha! Alright. You needed a break. But even so, is it proper for a wife to come home looking like this?! Spend a night out and did not even bother calling?!"
Monica, observing from the sidelines, couldn't resist adding fuel to the fire. "Looks like someone had a wild night out. Did you enjoy yourself, Evangeline?"
Evangeline who was already overwhelmed, shot Monica an icy glare before turning back to Zach. "I didn't plan for things to go this way. It's not what you think."
Frustration was etched on Zach's face as he retorted, "How am I supposed to know what to think when you disappear, wearing that, and come back at who knows what hour?"
Evangeline who was now slowly filled with rage finally bursted and yelled, "Don't point your finger at me! This was all because of you! You can't blame me for suffering like this! This is not about my inability to give you a child, Zach. You're simply a lying, cheating son of a bitch! You cheated on me, damn you! Let's put an end to this fucking marriage!"
With Evangeline unleashing the pent-up emotions, her words acted like poison to Zach. His chest tightened, and his entire body shook, unaware that his response was a harsh slap across Evangeline's face.
Stunned by the force of the slap, Evangeline nearly stumbled, her nose bleeding and head spinning. As Zachary realized the impact of his actions, he hastily grabbed her arm, helped her up, and wiped away the blood smearing it onto her cheek.
In a state of panic, Zach tearfully pleaded, "Baby, I'm sorry... I didn't mean—"
"Let me go! I'm leaving! No! I'm leaving! Please! Let me go!" she hysterically begged, her face wet with tears mixed with blood.
Unable to contain the fear that had overwhelmed her, she couldn't bring herself to look into her husband's eyes as if he had become a stranger. Pushing Zach away, she frantically grabbed her phone, rushing towards the door to escape the man she now feared.
Zach chased after her, calling out her name, desperately trying to stop her from leaving.
"Evangeline! Please! Stop!" Zach shouted, stretching his arm until he could finally reach her. With a quick tug, he successfully grabbed Evangeline and caged her in a tight embrace.
He quickly carried her back, and there was quite a struggle as Evangeline fought for her life. She didn't want him to touch her, but in the end, Evangeline was back in the house and made to sit on their bed, inside their room.
Evangeline was still sobbing, not in pain but in fear of what Zach could still do. She sat, behaving herself the best she could, with her legs closed and her palms down on her thighs. Zach walked to her with a warm, wet towel in hand.
He was about to touch Evangeline, but she flinched with her eyes closed, not wanting to see him.
"P... Please. Just let me go. I want to go home," Evangeline weakly begged, referring to the house she once shared with her brother.
Zach kneeled before her to look at her face. His conscience was eating him up. He didn't mean to hurt her, but her words stung, so he reacted—according to his defense.
When he attempted to touch her face once more, and he successfully did, Evangeline winced in pain. Her cheek was now swollen and bruised, and the blood wouldn't stop flowing from her nose.
Evangeline looked away fiddling her fingers as she softly spoke, "Please... Just let me go. I'll let you be just as you wanted.
But Zach only gave her a stern look. He held her chin and made her look at him.
"You're my wife. You're staying here. I won't let anything separate us." Zach answered placing a tender kiss on Evangeline's lip.
"You wanted a child. Now you have a woman who can give you what you want. You have no need of a defect like me." She answered.
"I ... want a divorce, Zach."

His gaze immediately fixed on Evangeline's tear-stained face as his hands clutched her in a tight grip."You have no reason to divorce me, Evangeline. You promised me forever, have you forgotten? I love you," Zach responded, insistent, attempting to force a smile as he gently wiped away her tears, desperately trying to sway her decision.Evangeline couldn't meet his eyes as she shook her head. "No. You don't love me anymore. You cheated on me, you hurt me. This is not love, Zach... Who you are right now is not the man I love. I... hate you." She uttered the words with profound pain.Zach was in disbelief. His mouth slightly agape, he struggled to comprehend his wife's declaration. Despite his mistakes, he believed in his deep love for Evangeline, knowing in his heart, mind, body, and soul that he loved her too much and would do anything

She hissed and headed to the closet.Zach watched with arms crossed and a sly smirk plastered on his lips. He followed Evangeline behind and as he has gotten close, he tugged on her towel letting it unwrap and fall off of Evangeline's body.Evangeline has little to no care. It's not the time for her to act all meek and conservative. As he snaked his hands from Evangeline's neck down to her breast, he nibbled on her nape leaving another batch of fresh marks."You smell good." Zach happily whispered on his wife's ear, as he admired her full nakedness. He was getting another hard on and he was definitely not letting it off by himself."Hmm... My beautiful Evangeline." He moaned.Zach pulled out his raging boner as he suddenly manhandled Evangeline, picking her up and walked towards the bed.He then playfully throws her
Evangeline took a few days to get better. She stayed in her room, just eating, sleeping, and cleaning up. Trying to escape through the window wasn't an option – it was too high, and if Zach caught her, things could get even worse.Zach hesitated to leave the house, afraid Evangeline might attempt to escape. He carried out his work, alternating between the room where Evangeline was confined and his study. His focus was solely on Evangeline during this time, and Monica was not liking any of it.Monica was displeased with how Zach was solely focused on his wife, making her feel invisible. This fueled her anger, pushing her to start scheming ways to regain his attention. That day, a sudden and piercing scream tore through the silence, accompanied by the sharp crash of glass from downstairs. Startled, both Zach and Evangeline shot up, their eyes locking in shared concern."Zachary! Help! I'm in pain!" Monica's desperate cry echoed from the kitchen. Zach, feeling a rush of adrenaline, insti
"So what happened?" Jeremy's voice cut through the silence in the car, breaking the monotony of the road. Evangeline remained silent, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside the window.Evangeline took a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts before responding. "I left him," she finally murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.Jeremy's grip on the steering wheel tightened as he processed the news. "Why? What happened?"Evangeline hesitated, unsure of how much to disclose. "It's complicated," she replied, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside."I thought you guys were so in love." He scoffed almost making fun of it.Jeremy was never really a fan of his sister's husband, Zachary. He was the first to hate him ever since Evangeline introduced Zach to the family when they were younger. Jeremy just hated how confident Zach's gazes are and how handsome he is in everyone's eyes."I thought you two were so in love," Jeremy remarked with a hint of disbelief, his tone laced
As night fell and Evangeline found herself settled in her brother's home, she emerged from her room and decided to take a leisurely stroll through the house. The soft glow of the lamps cast gentle shadows along the walls, creating a tranquil atmosphere that enveloped her.She wandered through the familiar rooms, tracing her fingers along the edges of the furniture as memories flooded her mind. With each step, Evangeline felt a sense of peace washing over her. She breathed in the familiar scent of home, allowing it to soothe her frayed nerves and calm her racing thoughts. As she moved through the quiet house, she found herself in a hallway adorned with her brother's collection of family photos. Each frame captured a precious moment frozen in time, a testament to the bonds that tied them together.Evangeline paused before the display, her gaze sweeping over the familiar faces smiling back at her. Memories of holidays spent together, birthdays celebrated, and ordinary moments of joy floo
Evangeline raised her hands, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. "Actually, I'm sorry for the confusion. That's not why I asked you here," she clarified.Mr. Taylor adjusted his glasses, his demeanor shifting to one of professional attentiveness. "Of course, Mrs. Salazar. Please, go ahead. How can I assist you today?"Evangeline nodded, grateful for the lawyer's understanding. "As I mentioned, I need to proceed with a divorce from my husband, Zachary, and I also require a restraining order against him," she stated firmly.Mr. Taylor inclined his head, his expression neutral yet attentive. "Understood. Divorce proceedings and restraining orders are serious matters, Ms. Evangeline. Have you considered your reasons for seeking such legal action?"Evangeline met his gaze with resolve. "Yes, I have. My marriage with Zachary has become untenable, and I fear for my safety and well-being in his presence. I believe that obtaining a divorce and a restraining order are necessary steps to protect m
Evangeline braced herself, her eyes cold and filled with a simmering anger as she met Zach's gaze squarely."What? Lost for words?" she spat out, her tone laced with bitterness.Zach's attempt to reach out and placate her only fueled her resentment further. She pulled her hands away sharply, refusing to be swayed by his desperate gestures."Look, baby. I'm sorry for what I've done, okay? If you want, I'll ask Monica to leave the house," he pleaded, desperation creeping into his voice."How noble of you, Zach," she began, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Offering to kick Monica out, as if that erases everything you've done. Do you really think one apology can undo all the lies, the betrayal?"Zach flinched at her words, but Evangeline pressed on, her anger unyielding."You've shattered my trust," she continued, her tone cutting like a knife. "You've torn apart everything we had, piece by piece. And now you expect me to just forgive and forget?"For a moment, there was silence, punctua
Zach was seething with fury, his office looking like a tornado had swept through it, with shattered glass and scattered papers everywhere."Damn it!" he cursed loudly, the frustration evident in his voice. His employees who were sensing his anger, kept their distance, not wanting to get caught in the middle of his outburst.Amidst the chaos, Zach's secretary, Lloyd, timidly knocked on the door."Mr. Salazar, someone's here to see you."Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Zach reluctantly allowed entry, only to be handed an envelope."Mr. Zachary Salazar," the visitor said casually. "I'm Oliver Taylor, representing Mrs. Salazar," he introduced himself."I'm here to deliver these documents. It needs to be done as soon as possible as per your wife's instruction," Oliver stated, his tone businesslike as he handed Zach an envelope.Zach's jaw clenched as he took the envelope from Oliver, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. He quickly scanned the contents, his expression darkening with each
Chapter 81"You're glad? Is that all you have to say?" Evangeline asked, turning to face him with disbelief and frustration in her eyes.Klein's expression faltered, and for a moment, he seemed at a loss for words. He swallowed hard, trying to steady himself, but the hurt in his eyes was undeniable. "What else can I say?" he finally replied, his voice tinged with resignation. "I don't want to lose you, Evangeline. But if he's the one who makes you happy…"But Evangeline shook her head, cutting him off. "Stop it, Klein. Don’t pretend like this doesn’t affect you. I see it in your eyes—you're hurting. So why won't you fight for us, for me?"Klein looked down as the weight of her words pressed heavily on him. "Because… I don’t want to be selfish. I’ve already hurt you so much. If being with him means you’re finally at peace, how can I stand in the way?"Evangeline's frustration grew. "But that’s just it. You’re assuming I want to be with someone else. That I’ve moved on, that I’m not sti
Chapter 80After that night, days went on just like that. Klein left Lydia behind to help Evangeline with the triplets and it was a gesture that spoke more of his growing understanding than words ever could. He hesitated to leave, lingering in the doorway as if uncertain whether to stay or go, but he knew what he had to do. With a heavy heart, Klein returned home to manage his company, taking the first steps back into his old life. But this time, everything felt different.Klein wasn’t just returning to work, he was giving Evangeline the space she needed. He didn’t want to crowd her or push her into a decision she wasn’t ready to make. He wanted her to see that he was serious about making things right—that he was committed to being the man she and their children needed. For once, he wasn’t thinking only of himself, his guilt, or his desperation to make amends. He was thinking about her, about what she deserved, and how he could be the one to give it to her if she would allow it.Every
Chapter 79Evangeline gently handed each of the triplets their milk bottles with practiced but weary movements. Klein stood nearby and watched with both awe and amusement. He couldn’t help but marvel at how she managed to juggle three one-year-olds on her own. The sight stirred a sense of regret within him as he was struck by the realization of how much she had been carrying alone and how he had failed to be there for her.Evangeline’s mind, however, was elsewhere. Her eldest, Xander, was inconsolable and was crying in a way he never had before. No matter how much she tried to comfort him, he wouldn’t stop, and the anxiety gnawed at her. Something was wrong, and it scared her.Klein watched her who was already giving out an anxious vibe and immediately asked. “Is he okay?”Even though she was still quite mad at Klein, Evangeline managed to glance up at him, her face pale and strained. “I don’t know,” she admitted, her voice trembling with worry. “He’s never cried like this before. I’v

Chapter 78“Klein... W-what are you doing here? How did you know I was here?” Evangeline stuttered nervously as Klein began to walk toward her. What confused her more than the fear of facing her ex-fiance was the look in his eyes. There was no trace of the hatred or disgust he had shown her weeks ago. Instead, his eyes were filled with a longing that she couldn’t understand, and it scared her.The sight of Klein’s intense gaze only heightened her fear. She had closed her heart to him after being hurt so many times before, and now, seeing this unfamiliar emotion in his eyes made her feel vulnerable. Her back hit the wall as she tried to retreat, her breath quickening. She glanced desperately around for a way to escape, but Klein moved swiftly, slamming his hands on the walls, effectively caging her in.Klein’s expression twisted in anger as he demanded, “Who was that man with you? You took our children into his house? How could you, Evangeline? And here I am, ready to apologize, but yo
Chapter 77“Would you like to have dinner with me? You can bring the three as well.” Kenji suddenly invited while Evangeline was busy grabbing Mikael’s hand, making sure he didn’t run off.“Uh… we don’t really want to disturb you, and the kids will really make a lot of mess,” she hesitated, letting out an awkward laugh. Kenji, however, dismissed her concerns with a warm smile.“It’s okay. What can three one-year-olds do?” he chuckled, sensing the hesitation in Evangeline’s expression. “Please?” he added, his tone light but persuasive.Evangeline looked at him for a moment, then laughed softly, surrendering with a smile. “Alright then.”“Great! I’ll pick you up at 7,” he informed her.“Do you know where my house is?” Evangeline asked curiously, noting his confidence.Kenji grinned, then recited, “1202 Maplewood Lane, right?”Evangeline blinked in surprise. “You really do know.”“How could I not? I’m a daycare teacher—I have my students’ addresses just in case,” Kenji said playfully. Ev
Chapter 76Evangeline settled comfortably on the patio of her favorite café, enjoying the soft morning sun that warmed her face. The gentle hum of the café’s early activity provided a soothing backdrop as she took a moment to savor her coffee. Her laptop was open on the table, and her airpods were snugly in place, creating a bubble of focus amidst the café’s light background noise. After dropping off her triplets at daycare, Evangeline was ready for her virtual meeting with the company’s investors. She glanced at the clock—precisely on time. As she opened her laptop and initiated the virtual meeting, her screen was immediately occupied with the faces of the investors.“Good morning, everyone,” Evangeline began warmly, “I want to start by apologizing for not being able to meet in person. As some of you know, managing triplets can be quite the challenge.” She chuckled softly, her humor met with understanding laughter from the group. “But despite it all, I assure you, SNCLR’s vision rema
Chapter 75Evangeline's days had become increasingly busy. With the triplets now beginning to walk, her chores seemed to multiply by the minute. Keeping up with three one-year-olds was no easy task. Each child had their own personality, adding to the delightful chaos of her days.Xander, the eldest of the three, was mature and quiet for his age. He rarely cried and often observed his surroundings with calm, inquisitive eyes. Mikael, on the other hand, was the cranky troublemaker. He had a knack for finding mischief, whether it was pulling on curtains or knocking over anything within reach. Maxine, the youngest, was the friendly, chattery little girl who loved to babble endlessly, her sweet voice filling the room with an infectious energy.Realizing that managing all three on her own was becoming overwhelming, Evangeline made the decision to take the toddlers to daycare. It would be good for them to interact with other children, and she could use the time to manage her responsibilities
Chapter 74Life went on for Evangeline, although the weight of her decisions felt heavy on her heart. Deep down, she knew she still loves Klein. But the pain of being forgotten by the man who once adored her was too much to bear. To protect herself, she chose to stay far away, focusing on her company overseas and her children. Although her presence was often needed, her staff understood her situation, granting her the space she needed to heal.Meanwhile, Klein dealt with his troubles differently. The gnawing truth he had uncovered fueled his anger, and Daphnie became the unfortunate target of his wrath."You can’t lie to me anymore, Daphnie," Klein growled, his voice thick with disgust. The tension in the air snapped like a taut string, and before Daphnie could react, Klein’s hand struck her cheek with a harsh slap. She gasped, stumbling back as her hand flew to her reddening face, eyes wide with shock."Stop coming back here," Klein continued, his words laced with venom. "If you ever
