Chapter 3

POV Willow

Just as everyone turned to us, four women walked in the door. They were laughing and talking but stopped as soon as they saw us.

"What's going on?" the redhaired curvy woman asked.

"Well, dear wife, it seems that our son has found his mate" Alpha Lex smirked gesturing to me.

I looked around in panic as the red head hugged me.

"I'm Luna Stephanie. It's so nice to meet you, my dear. Dean's been searching for you for a long time" Luna Stephanie said as she embraced me.

I looked desperately at my brother and father who both looked as stunned at I felt.

"If you'll just excuse us for a moment, I need to speak with my daughter and son" Dad hurried over to grab me and Devon and rushed us out the door.

We walked down the hallway until we were out of earshot.

"Dad! What am I going to do!" I whispered as Dad paced and Devon held me.

"Don't panic. We will figure this all out. Let's think this through." Dad muttered as he paced.

He was all for me getting a mate until he realized that my mate was the Alpha to be of the most ruthless pack in the country. We had all heard the horror stories of the way prisoners were treated in the Dark Star pack. They were heartless and it was rumored that they mistreated their women and Mates as well. Dad didn't want me to leave our pack to begin with but the fact that I would be leaving for this pack was too much.

"Can't she just reject him?" Devon asked.

"She could but she would live her life in heartache" Dad replied.

"And it could put us at war with the Dark Star pack" I added.

"It turned out okay for our Great Aunt. Lets just bide some time right now. Let them know that you have a boyfriend and this is all overwhelming for you. Hopefully Dean will give you some space then" Devon suggested.

"Maybe but I doubt that it will work for long. The mate pull is strong but it's worth a try. Your Great Aunt was a rare case." Dad replied and we slowly walked back towards the office.

"I'll try" I whispered as we reached the door.

I took a deep breath as Dad opened the door and we walked back in. It was silent in the room when we walked in. I noticed that each of the women was now arm in arm with their husbands. Deans eyes narrowed as we walked in.

"Sorry about that, Willow was just startled. She wasn't expecting to meet her Mate today. She is overwhelmed at the moment" Dad explained smoothly.

We all held our breath but then Luna Stephanie started to laugh.

"I was the same way when I met Lex. I actually refused him and ran, remember, dear?" she exclaimed cutting the tension, thankfully.

Alpha Lex chuckled, "I remember. It took me forever to convince you. But I won in the end."

"Can I speak with my Mate now?" Dean snarled as he moved closer to me.

"Plenty of time for that later. Let's get you kids to class." Devon deflected and rushed the group of us out the door.

"We will send a car to pick you up after school" Dad called as we walked out the door.

I was about to argue that Carla was driving my but Devon caught my eye and shook his head.

"Okay. Bye Dad" I called back.

Carla led us all to our first class and Dean tried to walk next to me.

"So Willow... That's a nice name" he began.

"Yeah, thanks" I mumbled and hurried to walk by Carla.

POV Dean

I sighed and glared after my Mate. This wasn't the reaction I was looking for when I met her. I expected her to be overjoyed, after all, I was in line to be one of the most powerful Alphas in the world. She should be grateful that the Moon Goddess had graced her with such a strong mate.

I was also disturbed to notice that she carried the scent of a human male. I wondered if that was why she was upset to find me and if it was, there would be hell to pay. No human male was going to take my mate away from me. She was mine, even if she didn't know it yet. I watched as she and Carla linked arms and led us to our class.

Carla introduced us to the teacher along with what pack we were from and what rank. I was startled at first but then I reminded myself that the whole school knew about the werewolves. The teacher smiled at us as Carla and Willow sat in their seats.

"It's nice to meet you. Just sit anywhere" the teacher smiled.

Ashleigh and Liam sat together in the middle of the class and I sat in the empty seat next to Willow. Sam sat next to me. I could barely pay attention during class. I kept looking at Willow but I noticed that she was purposely not looking in my direction. When the bell rang, she gathered her books as jumped up. Sam and I were immediately surrounded by a bunch of giggling girls. I pushed past them as Sam turned on his charm.

"Willow, Stop" I commanded in my Alpha voice.

She stopped in the middle of the hallway and I smirked. That voice sure does come in handy sometimes. I caught up to her in a second and stood in front of her. Carla stayed by her side and I glared at her. She bravely glared back and I was surprised.

"Just where are you hurrying off to?" I asked with a smirk.

"I didn't want to be late for class" She replied with a shrug.

"Aren't you and Carla supposed to wait for the rest of us and show us around?" I asked as Sam, Ash and Liam joined us.

"It's looked like you had plenty of people to help you. We're all going to the same class, anyway" Carla responded and I glared at her.

"I wasn't talking to you" I growled.

Willow growled then.

"Don't talk to her like that!" Willow snapped and I was startled when she pushed past me.

"Just follow us to our next class, then" She replied as she and Carla linked arms again.

They led us to another classroom where we had a near repeat of last hour but instead of rushing out at the end, Willow and Carla waited for the rest of us and led us to the next class. It was the same thing all morning.

"The next hour is lunch" Carla announced after latest bell. I grinned.

"We'll show you to the cafeteria and pick you up before the next class" Willow explained and I frowned.

"Where will you be during lunch?" I asked.

"We have to go to our lockers and have a meeting" Carla said, elusively.

"You need to eat" I insisted.

"We brought our lunches" Willow explained.

They walked us to the cafeteria and we went in but I felt unsettled while we bought our food and sat. The kids were all very welcoming and our table was packed with people all wanting to talk to us. After a few moments, I turned to the girl that was already attached to Sam.

"Do you know a girl named Willow?" I asked her.

She nodded.

"Of course, she's Alpha's daughter. She's nice but kinda, I don't know, different? She's actually younger than the rest of our grade. She's really smart and sweet but I don't know why she's still seeing Jake. He's just a human and not even her mate" The girl answered and I saw red.

I stood up.

{She had a boyfriend? MY MATE HAS A BOYFRIEND AND HE'S A HUMAN!} Trevor raged.

"I've got to go" I mumbled.

{FIND MATE! GO NOW!} Trevor yelled and I agreed.

I ran out to the hallway and caught her scent. I followed it into the library and heard her beautiful voice whispering. I was enraged when a heard a male whispering back to her. I turned the corner to see her in the arms of a human boy.

POV Willow

I had just told Jake everything. He was reassuring me when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I turned and was startled when I saw Dean standing there, staring at us. I quickly jumped out of Jakes arms.

"Hey, Dean." I said, weakly.

"What are you doing?" he asked with a furious look.

I cringed.

"Look, Dean, we need to talk" I began and Dean took a step towards us.

"Now you want to talk to me? All day, you've been avoiding me but now you want to talk" he snarled.

Jake stepped up behind me and went to put his arms around my waist.

"I wouldn't do that right now, human. I'm dangerously close to letting my wolf out" he snapped and I stepped out of Jake's reach.

I didn't want Jake to get hurt.

"It's okay, Jake. I need to talk to him alone. I'll see you later" I said to him.

He looked at me with concern.

"Are you sure?" he asked and I nodded.

He nodded and walked away. I turned to Dean.

"So you have a human boyfriend?" he asked and I nodded.

"That's not really your business but yes" I snapped.

He seemed to calm a bit and stepped closer to me.

"Of course it's my business. You're my mate!" He reached out and grabbed my waist.

He pulled me into his chest and hugged me. I couldn't help but snuggle into him. His scent was intoxicating.

"When are you going to break up with him?" he demanded and I stiffened.

I pulled away from him. He glared at me.

"Let me guess, you weren't planning on breaking up with him?" he snarled and I shrugged.

He backed me up against a wall and pinned me there.

"I get that this is sudden for you but I won't share you. You are my mate and I am yours. We belong to each other. The sooner you understand that, the better. I'm trying to be understanding but my wolf is restless for you. Isn't yours?" he whispered in my ear.

I practically melted as I heard Nox in my head. {He is our mate. We should be together} she said.

It's the same thing that she'd been saying all morning. He leaned close and almost kissed me. I almost let him too, until I suddenly came to my senses.

"You don't understand. I'm sorry but I didn't want a mate. I never wanted a mate. I don't want my life to change. I don't want to leave my pack or my family. I don't want to leave my friends or my boyfriend. There are things that you don't know about me. I can't leave here. I won't be safe. I don't want to go to a ruthless pack and be mistreated. I won't" I exploded and pushed him away.

I ran to the nearest bathroom and burst into tears.

{What are we going to do?} I asked Nox.

{Should I reject him?} I suggested.

{No! I might die then and you would definitely live a life of pain. Plus it may start a war that our pack would lose.} Nox reminded.

{Should we run?} I tried.

{Then we're leaving everything you just said that you wanted to keep. It's no better. The mate pull would drive us insane. We have no choice. We have to be his mate. Jake will have to understand. He knew that this was a risk.} Nox recommended.

I knew in my heart that she was right but I didn't want to believe it.

{I can't go to such a cruel pack. We'll die} I cried and Nox cried with me.

I knew that she was already infatuated with Dean but she also wasn't lying to herself about where he came from and what he may be like. Oh, Goddess, why would you do this to us?
