šŸ¾ Alpha Jake

My Beta Darren brought in a strange girl earlier. He claims that he found her in the woods on the daily patrol of our borders.

Our pack is well hidden deep in the mountains so I donā€™t have a clue how she got here. We keep to ourselves because we train our warriors thouroughly and we donā€™t want anyone from the outside snooping around or finding out about our patrol schedule and training.

There were a lot of neighboring packs that wanted to know more about Grey Moon, we had some of the best werewolf warriors in existence and we were self-sufficient and wealthy. We had alliances with other packs and we worked together in times of need or war but, being a big pack like ours leads to creating enemies based on border lines and jealousies, also resulting from time to time in a rogue attack.

He said she was by herself and it didnā€™t look like she was planning anything against us. She was startled by their presence and started running. He stated that she was swift and moved around like a ninja on the tree branches, until she fell and they could capture her.

She wasnā€™t human, that was clear. Definitely not a werewolf like us. She was dressed in strange clothes and she carried a lot of weapons with her.

Darren laid everything on my desk and I was looking through her things. A sword, bow and arrows, knives and some daggers. Really weird. The rest was a compass, some stones in a material I donā€™t recognise and little food and water. Why did she need all of this and where did she come from?

I told my Beta to leave her downstairs in one of the cells so she couldnā€™t run and come to her senses before I could go and interrogate her.

I was a feared Alpha. They knew my pack and my name throughout our species. I was cruel regarding my enemies and foes, but was kind and just when it came to my pack, my people. I would give my life protecting them. My thoughts were interrupted when someone knocked on my office door.

ā€œSheā€™s awake,ā€ Myriam, one of my housekeepers, said.

ā€œThank you.ā€ I answered as I got up and prepared to descend to the dungeon.

ā€œDo you want me to prepare her something to eat, Alpha?ā€ She enquired as I passed her in the hallway.

ā€œMaybe not a bad idea, Myriam.ā€ I responded. ā€œIā€™m going down to hear her out.ā€

Myriam nodded and left for the kitchen. I went down the stairs of our packhouse. We had a little dungeon for interrogations and to keep the usual rogue we captured around our land, but this was different. From what Darren told me this wasnā€™t an enemy nor rogue. I just needed some answers to be sure.

When I got there I spotted her sitting on the bed. She was petite. Covered by her green hood so I could only see part of her face. She wore leather boots and green leggings. I found myself thinking that she looked like a very small Robin Hood.

I unlocked her cell and grabbed a stool to sit down facing her. Not to close, I didnā€™t want to scare her. She looked at me but I still couldnā€™t see her eyes. She was following my moves and sitting in a defensive stance, ready to fight and reminded me of how my own warriors reacted.

ā€œHi,ā€ I started, ā€œMy name is Alpha Jake.ā€ I tried to sound as calm as possible to make her feel comfortable. ā€œWhatā€™s yours?ā€

ā€œPernwĆ©l.ā€ She spoke softly.

ā€œThat is a really strange name you got there.ā€ I responded. ā€œPerwĆ©?ā€

ā€œSomething like that.ā€ I heard her soft voice but I noticed her lips tug in a half-grin.

ā€œHow did you get on our land, PernwĆ©l?ā€

ā€œI didnā€™t know it was anyoneā€™s land.ā€ She said firmly. ā€œI just found myself in the woods and the next thing I know Iā€™m in this cage and all my personal items are taken away from me.ā€ she stated curtly.

ā€œI will get your things back to you.ā€ I promised. ā€œBut I need to ask you some questions first before I let you out.ā€ I looked at her. ā€œWhere do you come from?ā€

She mulled things over before she answered. ā€œI come from Agmysther, a little village in the Third Realm.ā€ She took a deep breath. ā€œWe found ourselves under attack this morning and my people were slaughtered in the battle.ā€ She gritted her teeth together. ā€œI think I fell through a portal because this place doesnā€™t look at all familiar.ā€

Goddess. I donā€™t know a thing about the places she mentioned. I never heard about a Third Realm and certainly never heard anything about portals. She sounds genuine and devastated, she just said that her whole village was murdered.

ā€œI donā€™t know anything about portals or the places you mention.ā€ I answered. ā€œI can tell you where you are right now, on Earth, in the territory my pack resides on, Grey Moon pack.ā€

ā€œWhat is a pack?ā€ She asked.

ā€œWe are a pack of shifters, Werewolves.ā€

ā€œYou are wolves that turn into men?ā€

I smiled at her question, itā€™s difficult to explain this to someone who is not of our kind, but I tried. ā€œItā€™s like that, but we are in harmony with our inner wolf spirit.ā€ I continued. ā€œWe can change at will and we live together amongst our kind.ā€

She was still for a moment, presumably taking it all in.

ā€œYou are not human or one of us.ā€ I broke the silence. ā€œWhat are you?ā€

I wanted to know. Her smell was very strange, lingering softly in the air. I couldnā€™t put my finger on it. It was like a sweet herb with a hint of something spicy. It pulled me in, triggering in me a hidden desire to know more about this girl. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat and balled her little gloved hands into fists.

I scraped my throat. ā€œYou donā€™t have to worry.ā€ I said softly. ā€œIā€™m not going to hurt you.ā€ I let out a breath I didnā€™t know I was holding. ā€œI just want to know.ā€

My words must have had a calming effect on her, because she took her hands to her hood and softly started moving the fabric over her head. My eyes followed her face as she removed her hood. It was like time slowed down slightly and I watched intently as she uncovered her features. I felt my wolf stirring inside me.

She had small pouty lips and freckles littering around her nose. Creamy ivory skin and I noticed a scar across her right eyelid as she was looking down. Locks of silvery long hair spilled around her shoulders, some strands had a fine braid, some had beads around with shimmering stones. It looked silky soft and I repressed the urge to touch her hair. She was still looking down, trying to not meet my gaze. Was she scared of me?

She lifted her little hand again and tucked one of her long silver locks behind her ear, revealing them. They were a bit bigger than usual and ended in a pointy shape.

ā€œIā€™m an Elfā€ She spoke very quietly, I almost wouldnā€™t have heard her if it wasnā€™t for my enhanced hearing.

ā€œWow.ā€

I didnā€™t even realise I spoke the word as she suddenly looked up at me and our eyes met. The most beautiful green eyes Iā€™ve ever seen and something snapped inside me, roaring alive making my wolf push forward.

ā€œMate.ā€

No way! Wow what a way to meet your mate! Do elves have the same concept in this story? Would she understand what he means when he says sheā€™s his mate?

āž³PernwĆ©l The leader, Alpha Jake, had come to interrogate me. I get it. Iā€™m on his land and he has to make sure Iā€™m not a threat to his people. Iā€™ve been a warrior my whole life knowing what to do in every situation because I was instructed to do so. This was a different situation. Iā€™m alone, exhausted and definitely not in my village anymore. Even if I tried to make my escape I would be caught in a matter of minutes. I neednā€™t fight nor run at this point, so I answered his questions the best that I could and hoped that I would be spared. From his explanation of my whereabouts I found myself in a different world entirely. I never heard of shifters, less about werewolves. I saw before that it entailed to transform from wolf into man and vice versa. Just like normal wolves travel and hunt in packs, these people, werewolves, lived together in this little town. They call themselves the Grey Moo

šŸ¾Alpha Jake After I left PernwĆ©l in the kitchen with Myriam and Anna, I retreated into my study. I had to think over a lot of things. Wolves mate for life, and there is only one person in the whole of existence chosen for you by the Moon Goddess, or so it says in our folklore and legends. Sometimes it happens that one of them dies before meeting each other after turning of age, and in these cases, it could happen that you would find a second chance mate. It is very rare, but Iā€™ve seen it once before. If you are a werewolf you can find your mate after your eighteenth birthday. The bond can be triggered by smell, touch, or like I just witnessed in the basement, by looking into your mateā€™s eyes. After looking into those beautiful green eyes I felt my wolf growl to life, expecting us to claim her right on the spot, but I had to approach this differently than a normal mate bond between two werewolves.

āž³PernwĆ©l Sunrays slightly dance around my fur, caressing it with its warmth. It softly plays with the colors of the leaves falling from the trees, welcoming autumn. Before my eyes, guided by the wind that streams through them, a dance of light and color takes place. A breathtaking view, to partake in the beauty of nature. The rustling of the falling leaves onto the mossy ground, littering a carpet made of the reddish and maroon tones of the withering of the summer season. Admiring the sounds of the forest with my enhanced hearing and being able to smell the earthy tones of the trees with hints of herbs and a few flowers that still bloomed, I revel in the connection my paws make onto the surface as I slowly pace through it, taking everything in. I donā€™t remember this particular forest, itā€™s not the one Iā€™m used to running in. I sniffed around following the scent of wa

It was a powerful voice and he radiated that aura again. I presumed it was what made him the leader. ā€œPack, this is PernwĆ©l.ā€ He said gesturing to me. ā€œShe will join us today.ā€ They looked at me with questions burning in their eyes, but they didnā€™t ask anything. šŸ¾Alpha Jake Like every morning, except on weekends, we had pack training. Every adult wolf came to the training fields at the crack of dawn to run across an obstacle course that changed patterns every day and spar. The werewolves of my pack were very well trained and pushed harder in every way to become stronger, doing justice to being one of the best packs to ever exist. I took pride in the resilience of my people. They knew that belonging to this pack also meant having to protect the elders, children and non-warriors amongst them and fight for it very often. That entailed also the importance of training and they took it very seriously. The obstacle course built stamina and speed, keeping them focused and giving options to analyze, strategize and provide a new challenge every day. It kept them on their toes anticipating every possible outcome. I was surprised this morning that PernwĆ©l wa

Itā€™s like something is messing with my hormones. Maybe these strange shifters are getting to me. Sighing, I closed the door behind me as I got to my room in the packhouse. No, I said to myself, thatā€™s not it. Iā€™ve been on a rollercoaster of sorts the last two days, the notion that my village is gone hasnā€™t really sunk in yet. Iā€™ve been too busy adapting myself to this new Realm. I jumped at the opportunity to train because itā€™s where I am most in my element, Iā€™m used to it. The physical exercise was so

I was somehow excited to find out more about what happened to me, but also dreading to find out the fate of my village. I witnessed a carnage, everyone I knew was slaughtered before my eyes. The ancestor, Darach, the oak tree from Agmysther had been the only thing that remained in our Realm. Except for the Druid, Grendal and his wifeā€™s body that stayed behind as well. We lost many pack members that day and had a proper rite burial by the magical oak tree that was now a part of our land. The magical powers from the Third Realm had left the area and hadnā€™t returned, which we all were grateful for. Our pack rebuilt and repaired damages in the following months after the war. We lost over twenty pack members and we tried our best to provide solace for their mates and children. It was hard, it always is after a battle, but this one took more away than we had bargained for. My breathing cut inside my throat and I struggled to swallow the ball of nerves down. These creatures from another Realm, the mountain giants, had the colour of the earth and were bare with the exception of a cloth covering their loins. Their heads reached the highest tree tops and a shudder wacked through me in the realization that the battle had taken an enormous turn in our disadvantage. I wasn’t as physically strong as the female pack warriors, but I wasn’t fighter material. I was a healer in every sense of the word.I tried to not let fear overwhelm me. I knew that our pack was strong and that we would fight until the threat was eradicated. Grey Moon was known as one of the most brutal packs regarding training. Even though you got to know the people that ran it on a personal level, you couldn’t be in a better place. Werewolves knew Grey Moon and not to pick fights with them. Sadly, Alpha Markus did and we had to bury four pack members. I had the feeling that fighting these Dark Elves would be harder and there would be more casualties.

We had everything at our disposal all under one roof. The poisoned arrows, courtesy of Rune, would be a weapon that no-one would see coming. We had created something so deadly, that one hit in the right place would see our enemy dead within minutes.
