Ella's POV
I could feel them. They were coming.I ran as fast as I could desperate to get out of the woods but the further I ran, the deeper I found myself amongst the trees. My heart was thumping hard as panic and fear seeped into me. The fear of what those rogues would do to me if they got me, increased by every pace I took.I tried to reach deep within me for my wolf. I tried to call out to her, but as always there was no response."I am going to die. I am going to die." I sang like a madman's mantra as I moved through the trees hoping to see the village ahead of me but I could only find more trees."You can't keep running from us, Ella. We are going to find you and we will get what we want..." I heard their leader's voice behind me and my heart sank. His voice was too close and I knew it would only be a matter of time before his wishes and that of his friends came true.Tears brimmed in my eyes as I searched for a place to hide. I refused to give up. If my wolf was never going to come out and rescue us, then I had to find a place to hide. That was the only option I had.It was the only thing I did all my life, protect myself. No one loved me. Nothing I did was ever sufficient to earn any love from anyone. Not even my stepmother, Helen, or step-sister, Anna. I was a burden to them because I was twenty years already, yet I couldn't find myself a mate or a job. No one wanted me around them. I was like a plague and that was why no one cared that a bunch of rogues were chasing after me.Even if I got to the village, no one was going to stop them. My best bet would be to hide."Ella!" Their cries echoed behind me and I made the mistake of looking to check how close they were.My heart jumped out of my chest as I saw the shrubs behind me moving violently. They were close."If you are in my head somewhere, please come out now!" I cried out desperately to my wolf.My heart was swelling as my emotions overwhelmed me but I refused to give up.As much as people mocked me for not having a wolf, I could feel her. She was in my head somewhere. She never said a word, but she was there."If you don't come out now, we are both going to die!" I yelled. My feet stopped moving as pain pricked my very soul."Oh goddess please help me..." I whispered as my eyes searched around for a good place to hide.I refused to let those rogues touch me. I refused to be raped and left to die by other wolves. The only one who could touch me was my mate and I would protect my body until I found him. With my heart now in my throat, I turned around and I found the answer to my prayer —an exquisite villa right in front of me.Without thinking about what such a luxurious place was doing in the middle of nowhere, I dashed through the gates just as the heavy boots of the rogues filled the air.Quickly, I crossed the courtyard and luckily, the front door was opened. I ran inside and hid behind a wall. The sound of their boots was now the only thing my ears could pick up. I glued myself to the wall, calming my racing heart. If they followed me in here, I had to make sure I stayed as quiet as possible. The sound of the boots suddenly stopped and my brows raised as I feared what they could be doing. I slipped quietly to the window closest to me and I peeked through the curtains. The five men that were after me, stood in front of the gates. The frown on my face deepened as I wondered why they had stopped. I looked closely and I noticed that they had no intention of coming into the villa at all.An uneasy feeling was sweet through me and a thousand questions danced through my head.Didn't they see me? The gate was not locked, why were they stopping? Why didn't they come inside?Suddenly one of the men —the bulky one I had guessed as their leader looked in my direction as if he had sensed me.My heart dropped to my stomach as I was certain he had seen me.Quickly, I ran further into the house, hoping to find someone who could help me. I wanted to call out for help, but I feared the rogues outside would hear me. The only way would be to hide and when they left, then I would find someone to help me get back to the village.I took the large stairs in front of me and ran through the corridors. I pulled open the first room I could find and slipped in. This time, I locked the door behind me.As soon as I had secured the door, a strange scent filled my nostrils and for the first time, my wolf jumped in my head. She didn't say anything but she pushed me in the direction of the scent. It was a strong sandalwood scent that melted my bones and brought warmth to my stomach, all at once.Tingles spread within me and I looked around the dark room, trying to figure out what it was because the more I inhaled this scent, the stronger my connection to my wolf —the more alive she felt.Driven by my wolf, I started feeling around the dark room, moving closer to the source of the sweet alluring smell that teased my soul.Suddenly, my heart touched something warm. My brows furrowed and rather than move away, I felt around the object further until I realized what I was touching was actually a person!I yelped in fear, trying to get away but the person grabbed my hand and returned them where they had been —on their body."Hmm, that feels so good..." A deep baritone voice moaned and my wolf grew even more agitated despite the dire situation before us.I tried to move away once again, but his strong arms suddenly grabbed me and pulled me into what felt like a bed."Let me go!" I struggled, trying to get out of the man's hold but I was not strong enough. He pinned me down and started sniffing around my body."Hmmm... Where have you been all along?" He said in that same voice of his.I wanted to scream for help. I wanted to run but I found my body doing the opposite of what my brain commanded it to do.My body was melting into this man and as I stopped struggling, I realized that the smell I had been drawn to was coming from him.The sweet sandalwood scent was him. Then suddenly, a growl filled the room but it wasn't coming from just the man. For the first time, my wolf had also spoken."Mate!" She growled.Ella's POVI could not believe my ears as my wolf's growl resonated within me. She had really spoken and not just any word, she had found our mate."Mine..." The man growled and my insides melted. He was really my mate.Tingles spread through me as I felt like the luckiest female in the kingdom. I had finally found my mate.I tried to see the man through the darkness in the room but I could merely make out his huge frame as he held me close and continued sniffing my body."Who are you? What's your name?" I asked, trying to get him to speak to me at least. "Do you live here? Is this your house?"But his wolf let out another growl and he stopped sniffing me. I was about to resume my questions but I felt his hands begin to move around my skin. He started from my arms and slowly found my stomach. I thought he was going to stop there, but they dangerously moved to my chest. My heart started thumping again but this time it wasn't for fear —but from desire. My hormones were charged and as mu
Ella's POVI struggled, desperate to get away but the familiar scent of sandalwood filled my nostrils and my body stopped fighting at once. I raised my head to see who it was and my body froze.Fear suddenly grasped at my soul as I realized that I had run back into the same hands I should have been running from. I didn't know how he found my house. Did he follow me?I looked up to his handsome face and my silent wolf purred in my head. In the seconds that followed, I became lost in his stormy eyes. The world came to a stop and it was just the two of us. He looked gentle, harmless even. But the bubble my mind had built got shattered as Anna yanked me roughly away from him and then she replaced me by his side."What are you doing here, handsome?" Her voice had taken on a pitch that was so irritating I couldn't help but growl at her."Are you here to see me?" She cooed, shamelessly leaning into him.Ryker pushed her away and she stumbled close to me in shock."I am not here for you. I am
Ella's POVThe words were staring back at me but I refused to believe it. This had to be a mistake.Ryker had just accepted that he was my mate in front of my stepmother and everyone. He said he wanted to make me his Luna, yet he was giving me a contract... As hard as I thought about it, it made no sense at all.But as I raised my eyes from the piece of paper in my hands, I met the real Ryker. And then it dawned on me. He was a cruel man. This was probably just his way of punishing me and ruining my life for what we did.Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes and I tried to reason with him. Maybe he would understand and let me go."But you have a lover. Why do you need me to go into a marriage contract with you?" I cried out.Ryker adjusted his coat and looked straight into my eyes without a single drop of emotion, he said; "You are right. I do have a lover and her name is indeed Willow but she is in a coma now. So, I need someone to be Luna temporarily."His explanation made no sens
Ella's POVMy cheeks turned bright red as I realized what I had just read out loud."What does this mean?" I asked, my lashes suddenly becoming too heavy to look at him.Ryker's cold voice broke the rise of the hormones within me. "That clause is just to make sure that you don't try and complicate things by getting pregnant. I don't want you thinking you can dominate Luna's position by luring me into sex so you can get a child," he said, his face pinched tight into a frown.A surge of anger suddenly flashed through me and I wish my eyes were lasers so I could cut through him."You don't have to worry about that. I am not going to lure you into anything. In fact, I will stay very far away from you when we are in private so you have nothing to worry about!" I retorted."Good. Now, I need you to sign," he said in a voice so calm it triggered my anger to a higher level.Who did he think he was? Some god that I couldn't resist or someone I would throw myself at?If he thought the clause me
Ella's POV"No, I am not pregnant," I quickly said, refusing to even imagine such a possibility. "Why would you think that?""But Luna, your menstruation has been delayed. And then the smell of meat just made you throw up. It can only be a pregnancy!" She beamed."No, Olga. You are wrong. I am not pregnant. I am just nervous to share dinner with the Alpha for the first time that's all. Please don't mention this idea of yours to anyone," I warned her.She lowered her gaze and her excitement left at once. "Yes of course Luna. I won't speak of it," she said and hurriedly walked out of the bathroom.I couldn't be pregnant. That was just not possible. The only man I had ever been with was Ryker but could just one night of sex get me pregnant? No. That was not possible.Even as my mind denied it, I couldn't help the dreadful feeling that gnawed at me. Olga was right, my menstruation was late and I had been feeling light-headed a lot lately. And now I threw up...The thoughts made me grow ev
Ella's POVI was still trying to recover from Willow's cold eyes when Ryker's burning one descended on me. The excitement he looked upon Willow with was suddenly gone and all that was left was anger."Why are you here?" He growled at me.I had to pinch myself to stop the panic that was slowly crawling into my head."I— I was happy... I mean, I am happy that Willow is awake so I wanted to see her too," I stuttered with an unsteady smile on my face."Thank you. You may leave now," he said.I swallowed the emotions in my throat and was about to leave when Willow's voice glued me to the spot."I heard them call her by her title. Is she your Luna?" Her voice was so sweet, it sounded nothing like the look she had given me just a while ago.I could have sworn I saw Willow's cold eyes turn into a sharpened knife as she glared at me and I felt obligated to explain."It's not really like that. I am hmm... I am just a—""She is nothing." Ryker's deep voice interrupted me and I held back my tongu
Ella's POVFor the second time in one day, somebody was asking me this, at this point all the doubts I had were gone down the drain. I was truly pregnant but I couldn't tell anyone. Not even Willow."No, I am not pregnant," I said with an uneasy laugh."Hmm," Willow sneered, straightening up on the bed. "If you are not pregnant, why did you try to protect your stomach when the hot water poured on you?"My mouth suddenly went dry and I lacked a good defense as I tried to remember when I had done that. I looked down at my stomach and saw that I still had my uninjured arm over my stomach.Quickly I took it away and shook my head. "It was... It was nothing. I am not pregnant," I repeated, trying to sound firm but I failed and Willow saw it too She corked her head to the side and her blue eyes seemed to glow as she stared at me, "Ella, should call the doctor then? We should let him test you. Maybe I am wrong after all, who knows?"Her voice was nothing like it sounded a while back, it was
Ella's POV My breathing was becoming ragged as the rogues' conversation settled into my head. I was now certain that I was the one they were speaking about. But I could still not understand why they were saying that Willow drugged me. When did she drug me? And how was she even able to arrange for these rogues to come for me at such short notice?I closed my eyes and tried to remember when she could have gotten the chance to do this and then it occurred to me. She could have only drugged me when she insisted I eat lunch with her —the one she threw on the floor for me to eat like a pet."Damn you Willow!" I cursed under my breath. I had been so occupied with escaping that I didn't even think she could harm me at that point.A sharp pain pricked my underbelly and I got reminded of the pain. It felt like it was moving within me, starting from the left and then painfully moving to the right.I quickly slapped my hands to my mouth as another wave hit me."Hmm," I groaned into my hands. My
