Matt’s POVI was able to take Skye out of that place in an ambulance. And fortunately, I was able to speak to the crew to have an exchange of IOUs with them. Marco was willing to do anything, so I made use of that chance to offer a blank slate for the three men in the ambulance who came to assist us, to say that they had a prank call and not put anything on the record. We asked to be dropped off somewhere else and moved from there through a different vehicle. I learned later that the runaway vehicle was actually on standby for situations like this. We brought Skye to Ted’s clinic. It was literally her home now, but we had to sneak our way in to make sure no one sees us or no one was able to tail us. I was able to stabilize Skye’s condition when she was in the medical vehicle. It made me feel more confident to treat her even though there were only Marco and Gab to assist me at the operating table. But in the middle of everything, when I thought she was doing well— I almost rejoiced
Skye’s POV“Mom Yofiel?.... Dad?” I was surprised to see them both. I looked around. “Isn’t this….?” I stammered when I had a good look at the surroundings. “Yes, sweetie. This is our home sweet home…!” Mom Yofiel gleefully said as she spread her arms widely, gesturing I come closer for a hug. “Oh, how I have missed this!” I uttered as I returned the warm and tight embrace she was giving me. The last time I felt her warm embrace was almost decades ago. “No, honey….” Mom Yofiel said, shaking her head, yet her face was beaming with joy. “Have you forgotten? We had exchanged hugs recently,” she added with patent confidence. “What?!” Dad Ted yelped helplessly. “You guys met without me?”“I was given orders to make her decide and make a choice after our warriors were able to catch her from eternal fire in the land of Nephilim. I wasn’t even sure why I would be given such a task when it was not among my designated jobs, but I complied, and I guess my obedience paid off. I realized it
Marco’s POVWhen Skye woke up from a few days of sleep– after Matt successfully removed every splinter of the broken wood that injured her, I was beyond overjoyed. “Hey….” I tried to speak as gently as I could manage. I was so excited to speak to her and ask her how she felt. I wanted to ask if she was hungry or thirsty, but I was so scared to upset her as she still had her hands covering both her ears. I moved closer, though. I thought if my words would be an inconvenience, I assumed my actions would be fine. “How do you feel?” Gab asked. I glared at him. But Gab felt my darting gaze on him, and he looked up to meet eyes with mine. Gab widened his eyes as if defensively asking me, “What?!”I was nagging at Gab with the way my eyes spoke to him. And although only through eye contact, we were arguing with Skye in between us on the bed. I was to her left, while Gab was to her right. I did not see Matt nearby, but I did not have the right mind to bother. “Matt, aren’t you going to ch
Gab’s POVI have never felt as relieved as I was the moment Skye woke up. I thought that was the most joyous moment in my life, but when she groaned, and we thought she was in pain, we all panicked. Seeing her shoulders shaking, with her hands covering her ears at first, then she covered her face. I was beyond convinced she was in agony. But we did not have any idea what to do. Until….“Haha!” Skye cackled. But it didn’t last long before her laughter turned into sorrowful and regretful whimpers. Then Skye started apologizing to all of us, including Matt. But Skye firmly stated that although she was apologetic, she was going to do the same thing about excluding Matt on the missions if she ever had to go back and decide about the same matter. Matt also made his conditions clear regarding accepting Skye’s apologies. And that was for Skye never to go on any mission with him as our own medical professional with us. I could not make my thoughts heard by any of them. ‘I definitely agree
Matt’s POVWhen Marco asked me to stay with Skye, he shouldn’t have said more than that. Because even if I were Skye, I would have felt like they were going to speak about something that concerns me somehow, but they did not want me to hear anything about it. ‘That’s ridiculous! He could have just said he needed Gab’s help. What he said triggered the curiosity of my patient, and now she was not taking a “no” for an answer and was demanding to hear everything Marco was going to discuss with Gab somewhere else!’I was on my toes the entire time we were seated at the dining table. I really hoped it wasn’t something that would shock her senses again, as she was literally still in the process of her recovery. That includes physical, mental, and all! But when she stood from her seat after asking Gab if there were more of the soup she was having, my reflexes to assist her made me spring up from my seat as well. I just realized a little later that I wasn’t the only one on alert. It turned o
Skye’s POVI was amused to see them all the moment I woke up. I was pretending when I said they were too loud. I was actually not ready to face them because I caused them so much trouble all this time. I was going to cover my face, but my hands flew right where my ears were and covered them. All I could do was lower my head to hide my face somehow from their bewildered gazes. Covering my ears instead of my eyes was something I felt relieved about as well. I was able to see their actions, and I could not help feeling funny that Marco and Gabriel were too cautious not to make even the slightest sound as they tried to reach my side. More when Marco tried to convince Doctor Shannon to check me as the only physician in the house. I tried to hold my laughter back, but in the end, I failed. So, I let my giggles out. However, as I recalled how they were all saddened, panicked, worried, and scared of me dying before their eyes, my guilt ate me whole. I also recalled how Doctor Shannon wailed
Marco’s POVThrough Loid Moore’s report, although it was roughly given, we were able to trace the connections there was between our captives. To be honest, I do not have concrete reasons why we were keeping the two. I was told that Rolan Leblanc was being held until he regained the ability to speak so he could tell us who else was working with him to harm me. ‘This was a decision made by Skye when I was unable to because I was practically down due to poison, which was also something that turned out to be inexplicable. As for Vincent Diera, it was also Skye’s decision to keep him. Gab and I did not bother asking her reasons. Now, it turned out, Skye’s actions would lead us somewhere very useful in order to deal with the devils walking among us. “Vincent Diera and Rolan Leblanc have a person in common. This person doesn’t seem to have been at the same table or room with the two f them, but they both contact this person for the same reason,” Gab said as he typed with fascination speed
Gab’s POV“Do you want them to be taken here?” I asked Skye, as she seemed to be so worried about the Nahart couple. “Are they hurt? How was the situation there when your men arrived?” Skye asked. “They were trapped inside the panic room, according to Calvin,” I replied. I wanted to assure her that everything was now under our control. “We can make a call so you can speak to them directly, but we can’t stay on the line for long, or else whoever is tracing their whereabouts will find us as well.” “Would it be fine if they come here for safety in the meanwhile?” Skye asked. “I believe it will be better if we can keep them here for the time being since this is the most secured spot we have for now, but….” I paused, then I looked up to glance at Marco. I was not sure how Marco was taking everything that was happening, so I could not insist on anything. I had to be mindful and ask for his opinion regarding the matter. I know Marco does not like the Naharts, and having their presence u
