Lukas

While Ruby was in her room thinking of ways how she would be able to escape from this prison like situation. and how she would carry on and get away from this place. She recalled as a child her parents left to go to visit the place of their native hometown. Where they weren't able to reach because of the sea mishap. Will she be able to find some of her relatives there? These thoughts gave her hope to pursue on eccaping this predicament.

In the other room stood a man in his balcony, thinking about the scene at the dinner table. The girl Ruby was not bad at all beside her good looks, he can tell that she is a good person and a principled one. He had never seen anyone yet who stand up and question to his father's ruthlessness. And gets away from it.  The girl earned his respect.

He had regrets on forcing her out of the room and ending her to sleep on the cold and hard floor. But he is fed up of his father meddling in his life. He thought that the girl was another of those women whom his father hired to seduced him.

Lukas was a product of out of wedlock union. His mother had the bad luck of trusting a cold and ruthless man who has no respect for women treating them as playthings with no concern about their welfare. Women for him are considered spineless and useless who only waits for any man to save them.

He remembered as  a child how his father plucked him out of his mother's side, citing that she was unfit to raise a child. With the numerous women that was involve with his father. His mother was the only one who was able to bore a child. Probably the rest aborted it or simply wasn't able to form.

After his father met an an accident his virility  had suffered he can no  longer produce an heir so he came looking for his mother to claim the son he earlier rejected. Lukas grew up hating his father. He vowed that he will never be like his father. He will only commit himself to only one woman in honor of his mother's memory. 

The next day Ruby was surprised to see so many clothes scattered on her bed.

"It is all for you Ruby. The master purchase these clothes for you so that  you will be having a change of clothing." Gia said excitingly.

"It's such a waste Gia I won't be able to use them as I will be lock inside this room." She was thinking that if she will be able to escape this clothes will be left behind since she will not bring anything that will remind her of this place. 

"Who knows Ruby, the master will change his mind and will not lock your room anymore." Gia was full of hope that her friend Ruby will be free to wander around the place. For Gia this place is beautiful and she was lucky to work for a concentious employer as  Lukas Gomez.

"Is there any chance that he will do just that?"  Her hope was raise when she heard what Gia said.

"The master is a good man Ruby. It's just his father who is , I don't know how to describe that man. He is very frightening." For Ruby she had yet to see the truth of what she is saying. Until then she will not stop in finding ways she would be able to escape.

"So where is that frightening man? I don't see him when I am allowed to go down to eat? " After that confrontation with Raul Gomez at the dinner table Ruby did not see the older man. 

"The master send him away.  But don't you think he will stay away for long  he'll be back when we least expect him." The man sounded like a mosquito keep coming back to get what he wanted. Ruby thought.

"Why does the master sent  his father away?  He doesn't have respect for his father? " She asked eventhough she had witnessed how Lukas scolded his father she cannot perceive how one's son will be able to evict his own father.

"There is no love between the master and his father. This house belong to the master so he can send his father packing up." Gia said grudgingly.

"If that's so then why would he allow me to stay in his house?"Ruby is baffled with the situation.

"I don't know, maybe for your protection?"  Gia seems to realized she had been talking too much suddenly become vague.

"Will it be dangerous if I was allowed to go out of the property? Why? " Ruby was becoming more confused.

"One thing I can advise you Ruby, beware of the master's father. He is not a good man. avoid being in his present or anger him, he has no respect for women." Gia's words make her think that maybe she had fallen victim to the man evilness.

"Thank You for the warning Gia, I'll keep it in mind." She didn't probe further  respecting the other woman's privacy.

They continue to sort out the clothes. Gia insist that Ruby will try  all the clothes so that they will return some she doesn't like or doesn't fit her.  

Later that evening Ruby was having dinner with Lukas. They ate in silence, when Lukas suddenly break the silence by asking her about her needs.

"Is the clothes to your liking?" Ruby was surprised but answered politely.

"It was too much though. but thank you for the thought."

"It was the least I can do to pay  for the way I treated you the other evening." Ruby blushed remembering the night he forced her out of his room, she dropped her eyes to her plate aware that the man is looking at her. 

"What an unpredictable girl, for all her feistiness in having a word battle with his father, here she is blushing for a simple apology from him." Lukas thought.

"Anyways Gia told me that you are doing online work, and that you left your gadget behind.  If you want. you can use my study room there is a spare laptop you can use. I'll have it ready for you." Ruby raise her head with eyes sparkling like a child who was gifted a toy.

"Really I can do that?" Ruby was excited.

"Yes, you can do that, and from now on your room will not be locked anymore, if you promise that you will not leave the house without me knowing." Ruby was so happy that she forget her previous animosity towards the man.

"Thank you, thank you very much, I promise I will not leave the house without asking for  your permission" Her happiness reflected in her eyes  and somewhat infectious, that have Lukas smiling seeing her enthusiasms. Somehow he had successfully broken down the walls she built around them.
