KRISTINA'S POVThe expression on his face changes a little bit and I realize that he's actually surprised by what I just said. Then, suddenly, he turns to leave and exits the room quietly. I don't understand what just happened. Am I losing my mind? Why did he talk to me like nothing had ever happened? And how did he end up appearing in the middle of the forest in the first place? Suddenly, I remember. He must have been following me. I wonder where he went after he left the room. Did he go somewhere else? Before I know it, I'm already standing up and rushing out of the room. Where was he going, anyway? Was he leaving? Would he come back and kill me? But before I could reach the exit, he reappears from nowhere and grabs hold of me, pulling me into his chest with his strong arms. At first, I froze in surprise. I don't even struggle. In fact, I don't resist. He holds me tighter and I hear a chuckle escaping from his lips. He's laughing! But what's so funny? I don't understand his reas
KRISTINA'S POVSlowly, I crawl backwards on the bed. I don't know why, but a chill creeps down my spine when I suddenly feel it's cold nose running along my neck. My eyes widen in horror. I can hear it sniffing me carefully. I'm starting to panic. My mind is flooded with thoughts and worries, but my heart is beating fast inside my chest. It's pounding against my ribcage uncontrollably. I'm shaking uncontrollably. It's so strange. Why would my heart suddenly start beating so violently? Why does it feel like there's someone holding onto my ribs tightly? Why does it feel like my lungs need more air? Why can't I breathe? Am I having a heart attack or something? The wolf's nose is getting closer and closer to my chest, inhaling deeply every single time I exhale loudly. And then, suddenly, its body stiffens up and it whimpers quietly. It's like it's saying "sorry". Its eyes slowly close and I can see it falling asleep. I sigh in relief. Thank goodness. After that, everything becomes muc
KRISTINA'S POV That's what I was trying to avoid the moment I had started to think about this plan. I hadn't realized that I'm already thinking so much about it. "Nathan–" And then he hugs me once again. This time he holds me close to his chest like he always does, as if it's the most natural thing in the world for him to embrace me like that. I wrap my arms around his waist and squeeze him as I cry and sob my heart out. After some time, I get over myself and I pull away from his hug. I wipe off the tear tracks on my cheeks with my sleeves. It takes me some time to regain my composure. Then I look up into his eyes and speak again. "It wasn't like this before. Not when you asked me what made me want to run away." I try to force myself to smile, but I doubt that my attempt comes off as convincing. "Kris…" "Before this all began I felt like I didn't belong anywhere. Like I wasn't normal. Like I was nothing more than an experiment. But then when you came along… I became the happies
KRISTINA'S POV "I wish that I could change who I've become, but I can't. I don't even remember being this way. It hurts so badly." I look at him through blurry eyes, trying hard not to cry. "Everything is so complicated right now. I hate that you're still not ready to tell me what's going on, but–" I break off as another wave of tears comes crashing down on me. Nathan gets up and comes over to the bed. He kneels down next to me and wipes my tears away with his thumbs. "You are so brave, Kris," he whispers. I shake my head. "Not really," I admit in a whisper, still crying. "I'm terrified, Nathan." "What are you scared of?" He asks calmly? "Whatever it is, we'll work it out." I look up at him. "I don't think so," I responded in a shaky voice. "The last person who showed me unconditional love... Well, I guess they were right to call me an experiment." "Kris, I don't understand. I promise I won't judge you, no matter what, okay? Just please talk to me," Nathan pleads, taking both o
KRISTINA'S POVLuckily, he was distracted by someone entering the house, and that was the first time I noticed the switchblade that he'd taken with him. He hadn't realized that I'd seen. I remember how scared I was when he put the knife to my throat, and even more afraid of what he was going to do next. At that moment I was truly convinced that he was going to slit my throat open, cutting out my tongue. When I saw him raise his arm, preparing to strike, all I could do was scream. Linux stopped short when he heard me screaming, and he stared at me for a moment in confusion. Eventually, it seemed to dawn on him what was happening. "Oh s*it!" He exclaimed and dropped the knife, grabbing the sides of my face. His hand covered my mouth and nose, preventing any noises from escaping. I struggled to breathe under his hand. Suddenly, the grip on my chin loosened slightly, allowing me to take a small breath of air, but not enough for me to scream. "Shhhhhh," he whispered soothingly. "Shut
KRISTINA'S POVJust right about when I was living a peaceful life, I heard Alpha Laurence was agitated by how Aliyah flirted with his beta, Carl, even though they were already married for several years. Alpha Laurence eventually evicted Carl from his position as the pack's beta, leading him to head over the Black Fangs Pack together with Aliyah. However, I was frustrated, I flatly rejected all of what Alpha Laurence wanted even if he was nice to me after I returned to his territory. Laurence was desperate to have me for his own, not just to use me but because he finally fell for me. In this case, it wasn't love, but lust. He had been trying to get with Aliyah since their marriage started. The only reason why we were now having trouble is that Aliyah had her mind set on someone else, but she couldn't seem to tell who yet. It's frustrating to watch her slowly move towards him and fall head over heels in love. Even if you know what is wrong, it won't work out unless you do something, e
KRISTINA'S POVHis eyes lingered on me for a couple of seconds before he shook his head and continued to glare at his surroundings. I took a deep breath, forcing the lump in my throat to subside, but I felt like crying. Why does he hate me so much? I thought he respected my intelligence. What else could possibly drive him to ignore me so completely? Was it me? Did I do something wrong? I was lost in thought for a while, until Alpha Laurence spoke to me. "You should leave, they're not going to bother you." His voice was hoarse, like he hadn't used it in a while. "Oh.. yeah, sorry.." I mumbled, quickly turning around and leaving. I didn't know why, but I felt disappointed. But, why would I want to spend more time with the man I was in love with anyway? Once I was out of sight from where he was standing, I collapsed on the ground in tears. My life wasn't exactly the same after that incident. All because of him. All because of a stupid mistake that he made. Every time I was around him
KRISTINA'S POVI took her hand and squeezed tightly, not wanting to let go of her. As I felt her fingers entwined with mine, I smiled slightly. "Goodnight, Alliyah," I told her before letting go of her hand and heading off towards my room. But as soon as I got into my room, my smile disappeared instantly. I threw myself down onto my bed and buried my head in the pillow. Tears started strolling down my cheeks, which I quickly wiped off. I hated being angry with her. Why did I do it? Why did she have to choose Alpha Laurence? He was everything to me, she should have given her heart to anybody. Not him. I kept repeating these words in my head over and over again, hoping that somehow it would change my mind. The next morning, she waved to me when I appeared and I smiled back, before sitting down. "Hey," I said and she nodded. We stayed silent, neither one of us knowing what to say, I wasn't in the mood to make any conversation. I didn't have a clue who to talk to, I just wanted to be
