CHAPTER V: Prayer for Relief

2024-10-29 19:42:56It has been a very hard day for everyone. It was very busy that everyone was running around doing their work without getting a breather. Everyone is getting little to no sleep. Add to that the pressure of the epidemic, no wonder a person collapsed while working.
It happens on a regular day when everyone is very busy checking file after file, experiment after experiment. At one of the experiment rooms inside the research labs, they were checking one of the possible sources of the epidemic. They found a few traces of the substance that might have been unusual and didn't know where it came from. After announcing that they found something unusual, they immediately called Dr. Smith.
Dr. Smith was currently reading files from his desk. The desk was filled with a mountain of files that needed to be read and studied. When he was called about the discovery, he was elated. He immediately stood to take a look at what they found.

“Luke…” Gazing from afar, Dr. Smith tries to narrow his eyes, figuring out who is that man standing at the entrance of the hallway. “Why is he calling me by my name?” thought Dr. Smith with his eyebrows raised by his great curiosity. “No one has ever called me by my name for so long… no one would dare to.” The man, wearing an all-black garment from head to toe, tries to step with his limping left foot towards the direction of Dr. Smith.
