We finally arrived at the mansion. By the time we got there, Justin was practically depleted of his remaining energy, for he was no longer bouncing around the way he did during the walk.

“Looks like someone is ready for bed,” I said, picking Justin up in my arms, as he gave a yawn.

“No, I’m not sleepy…” he tried to lie.

I chuckled at his attempt to lie, and gently rocked him in my arms. “Sure you aren’t~” I said with a slight tease in my voice, gradually pulling him deeper into slumber.

A throat cleared itself, though not from Justin, nor from Pularis. I lifted my head and saw Ayla looking at me with a small pout. One look at her, and I was reminded of what I did to escape from this mansion.

“Welcome home, Alpha,” Ayla greeted Pularis with a bow. “My deepest apologies for being unable to keep our guest… ‘entertained’.”

“It’s fine. I understand you were put in a difficult spot,” Pularis assured. Though his tone didn’t sound as sympathetic as his words. He slowly approached Ayla, causin

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Proposition II

"Be an Alpha candidate for this pack. If it means so much to you that you want to still help everyone here, be their next Alpha. Do that, and you and your son can live a happier life, compared to living in the woods like rogues. That’s not a life for a pup young as he to have, don’t you think?”I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, especially from a councilman. While it was true that the option can both save the Bluemoon Pack and ensure a better life for Justin, I was still hesitant. Particularly considering… “I-I would. Except… that won’t happen. As you may know, I have a criminal record here, now. Even if I were to run for the title, no one would support me. Even if I do have supporters, I doubt they’re any more than Duncan’s, or whoever else may run for the position.”“Only because you were framed, correct? In that case, we clear your name. Find out what truly happened, and reveal the truth to the pack. Simple as that. Of course if you have an alternative idea, let’s hear it.”I a

I was frozen stiff, unable to move a finger, as Pularis continued to inch closer to me. The thought of pushing him away did cross my mind, as did the thought of consequences that would follow had I done so. The latter that most especially left me at a frightened loss, as the Alpha continued to move closer.“Let’s make another thing clear. For as long as I live, no one- not a single mutt- has made a deal with me, without giving their everything to me. And no dog has ever laid hands on what is mine and gets away with it,” he said, as I could feel his hand brushing up my arm.I jumped and shivered from his touch, wanting to get away from him even more, only to hold back when I thought about the consequences from doing so. With how Pularis was towards people who abuse their authority, proved themselves unworthy of their position, I did not want to know what happens to people who go back on their deals with him. All I could do, as he continued to lean closer, was close my eyes, feeling his

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Can You Help Me?

Susan's POVI was only trying to find my way to my room, when I walked down the steps to hear Pularis chat with his guest. With my benefactor who saved me from the Bluemoon wolves earlier. More than that, that very benefactor was his grandmother? I could barely see the resemblance between them.“What are you doing there?” Pularis questioned me.“S-Sorry. I didn’t mean to disturb you or anything,” I apologized. “I was just about to make my way to my room when I heard you two talking.”“You’re no bother to us at all, dear,” Patricia assured me. “In fact, you came at a good time. Please, come sit with us. I promise this won’t take long.”I know she was practically lying in that ‘reassurance’. In fact, given how Pularis made me leave her cabin earlier, I could only guess that she would want answers. Particularly about what Justin said earlier. I glanced at Pularis, wondering if I should just leave to my room. Hoping he would give me permission to, rather. To my bafflement, though, he inst

Pularis's POVWe watched as Susan took her leave, looking quite happy as she left. Once she was gone, I turned back to Grandmother.“That was awfully kind of you, Grandmother,” I stated.“Whatever do you mean? I believe what I did was more than appropriate,” she retorted. A claim that brought me some confusion.“How do you mean? You have never personally lent an aid to any of our wolves back home, even after you’ve retired from the council. What is it about her that is different from the rest?”When I asked that, Grandmother looked at me with wide eyes, as though I grew an extra head. “Is she not someone special to you?”I was taken aback by the assumption she made. Had it been anyone else, I may very well pull their tongue out for making such a joke. Otherwise ‘demand’ them where they get such idea. My Grandmother, on the other hand…“Where and how did you get that sort of idea?” I could only ask, as calmly as possible. A question that seemed to surprise her somewhat.“Oh? Had I been

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Meeting the Beta

Susan's POVAs I walked up the steps to my room, I couldn’t stop the giddy feeling welling up in me. For good reasons, too, considering Patricia’s promise to help me with my wolf. For so long, I had been living more as a human than I would a werewolf. And while I was never belittled by my peers for being ‘wolf-less’, I was often looked down upon because of it. Worse yet, no one has offered to help me figure out why I wasn’t able to awaken my wolf, save for my parents. They who tried to help me awaken my other half, only for nothing to work. This, in turn, led to them feeling guilty for not being able to help me. Even though I never resented them for it. Still, it was incredibly saddening that I was so different from everyone else, in the worst way possible. And now, with the help of a member of the Council of Wolves- even a retired member- it was as though I have finally seen light at the end of an incredibly long and dark tunnel. How else was I supposed to feel, if not happy about th

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   The Raging Alpha

Duncan's POV"What do you MEAN you just let them go?!" I demanded Spencer and some Hunters, at the top of my lungs right outside my house."Exactly as we said it, Alpha. That guy... Fighting him was suicide," Spencer dared say. He who looked worse for wear, even with his injuries healing up.I, however, was far from pleased hearing such excuse from my Beta. "What exactly do you mean it was suicide?" I demanded again. "That mutt is nothing more than some criminal swine! Against a beta like you- much less a group of Hunters! How could you have let him have his way at you?!"I could see Spencer's face twist and twitch at my demand. No doubt he wanted to say something- most likely some excuse for such failure- but was I going to have it? NO!After I had found out Susan's little brat escaped captivity, with the guards supposed to be watching the little runt taken out somehow, I had mind linked all my Hunters to find that conniving beast. A simple task for a large group. Or so it should've

"Duncan,” another voice cut my mind off in a mind link. One I did not want nor need to hear at this time.“Hello, Father,” I mentally returned. “To what do I owe this little link between us?”“I heard your wife is finally out of prison. Why haven’t you said anything earlier?”I quickly grew disgusted by the question. For after all, if there was one person I could name from the top of my head who favors Susan so, it was unfortunately my own father, the previous Alpha, and the one who practically forced me to marry that bitch.“I did not think it was anything important. Not for you, at least,” I answered, as calmly as I could.“How can this not be important? We are talking about your wife! The woman you married who gave birth to your son, and is my daughter-in-law,” he exclaimed in my head, making it pound from his voice echoing in my mind, as I gradually seethed from his demand. “While I cannot deny that she has done a terrible misdeed for someone of her position, I don’t recall that t

“Is she with you now?” I heard him ask just then, snapping me out of my rage. “She is with you, right?”“Who do you mean?” I questioned him.“I am certainly not talking about that Omega you keep seeing. And yes, I do know you have been seeing her, more than you should be working on your duties.” My face twitched from the way he referred to Ashley, and what he was insinuating of her.“Ashley is not a burden,” I mentally retorted. “She is only hurt and is trying to recover her strength in the slow natural way possible. She needs my help and support to get through her pain! But of course you wouldn’t know that, would you? Not when you never cared to get to know her for who she is now.”“I know enough about her to know that she will never be the Luna this pack needs. That she will remain being an obstacle between you and what you must do. But of course, I am not contacting you to speak of that. And clearly, there is no use in simply talking to you about your wife. Bring her to me.”I was

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   To Endure or Not to Endure

Days passed since my chat with Pularis and Patricia. And if I may say…“How many times must it be told until you get it in that stupid head of yours?!”Nothing has changed. No improvements, no news or updates, nothing. Just more abuse by the hands of one Duncan, who for example was currently dumping hot stew all over me in the dining room. Stew, that was made by the head chef, for lunch. Sometimes, his little entourage- aka Dylan, Ashley, and lesser times Spencer lately- would occasionally jump in whenever they can to get in on the ‘fun’, much to my annoyance and dismay. In fact, his son and soon-to-be new wife were both watching now from the dining table. Enjoying every bit of my silent suffering.“I had told you plenty of times already! Ashley can’t handle hot stuff! And yet, what the hell do you think you’re feeding her?! You’re having fun mocking her for her frail state, aren’t you? The state you put her in!” Duncan demanded.I glared at him, having it up to here with his immaturi

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   To Be Involved

I didn't know how many times I had thought Duncan wouldn't surprise me anymore with his nonsense, and I didn't know how many times I was proven wrong. That mindset of his? It went way past the level of 'crazy'. As much as I wanted to even push him off me, slap him silly, with how hard he was pressing his foot against my heart and lung, I found it difficult to breathe. My difficulty to breathe started to affect my overall condition, as I tried to push against him, only to feel something else instead. Something painful. I refused to let it show, though. Refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me hurt, and continued to glare at him. Thankfully, he only scoffed at me in disgust, and finally moved his foot away from me, giving me yet another kick to the ribs."Hmph... Worthless," he huffed, taking his leave. "You won't keep that act up for long. I'll see to it that you pay for everything."With that, he left the attic, to my slight relief. One that turned into frustration. Towards

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Trouble With the Deranged Alpha

My eyes widened when I heard those words from Pularis. A response came from his peers? Now?!“W-What did they say?!” I questioned, shooting up to a sitting position.“Classified.”All hope I had was brought down when he gave that response, confusion filling me. “What do you mean ‘classified’?”“Exactly as I mean it. You are not a member of the Council in any way. Even if this investigation involves you somehow, you are not under any obligation to know of the progress. I had been nice enough to inform you of what we do and how progress went, but from here onwards, outsiders like you are not to know of what happens next. Especially not when said outsider is close to the person in question. I’m sorry.”I opened my mouth, trying to reason with him to let me know what was said, but I knew he was right. Even Alphas and Lunas are not to give away any classified information to others so easily. Whether they are connected to the people in question or not. Not only that, but given how I had hid

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   The Slave Life

Days passed since my divorce with Duncan, and my new life as his slave began. And as to be expected…“You damn slut! Are you trying to hurt her more?!” … It was absolute hell, as Duncan punched me in the face and knocked me down, as well as tossed a mug of hot coffee at me. The mug broke on contact, leaving me with a few light scratches, drenched in the scalding hot beverage, in which I bit back a pained hiss for.“I only gave her what she wanted, and she said she wanted freshly brewed coffee,” I explained, holding back my rage against him.Sadly, my retort did nothing to appease him. Not that I planned on it, as he kicked me down. “You dare talk back to me?! With something as hot as that, you’d scald any dog’s taste buds right out of them!” he scolded. “Moreover, you gave her the coffee black! You should know how she takes her coffee by now, you stupid, outrageous dog!”I clenched my hands in rage at his shout, my blood boiling with each scolds and insults he dared to hit me with. Ju

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Last Request and Regret

"What did you say?!" I flinched at Pularis’s gasp, after I had told him what happened earlier, and my real reason in attending this meeting. “Your new circumstance aside, your reason for meeting with Dingo is very different from what you claimed earlier. And I know you were telling the truth back then.”“I know. And I’m sorry I hid my true intentions from you,” I apologized. “I was just hoping that he would be on my side.”“Because you thought his reason for not visiting you is similar to your friend’s case? From what she has told me, she didn’t know what became of you the past four years. Much less the day you were unjustly arrested.”I sighed as I recalled when I saw Caitlyn again back in the hospital, where I met Pularis. “She never was one for politics,” I mentally pointed out. “Would it matter?” Pularis countered. “Last I recall, you are not just that disgraceful Alpha’s wife; you are the pack’s Luna. Such news would have gotten out, especially if the father really did treasure

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Limited Time Left

Six months… I have six months left to live in this cruel world. Maybe not even at this point. This was revealed to me before I found out about Dylan. After I woke up, returned to the real world from that mental trip in the Spirit World and reconciled with my wolf, my body felt unbelievable weak and painful. At first, I had thought it was some kind of additional side effect to taking that trip, in which Patricia confirmed that it was anything but. That I shouldn’t be feeling any sort of pain after I reconnected with my wolf, much less visit the Spirit World. Concerned that this could be caused by something else, she informed Pularis, who contacted the hospital to send a doctor to the mansion to give me a thorough check up. At first, I was confused why he didn’t just have me sent there for the check up, when he reasoned that it was safer having the checkup done at his place, in case if Duncan or anyone on his side sees me at the hospital. A risk I also didn’t want to take. After waitin

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Aftermath of the Cruel Truth

That night, I lied on the floor of the attic. Not on a bed, or even in the guest room. Not even given a comforter of any kind to sleep through the night peacefully. Or as peacefully as possible. ‘How could this have happened?’ I wondered. Now that it became apparent and known that Dylan was not my son, so to say, both Dingo and Lorelei insisted Duncan and I get divorced. Well, Lorelei was insisting on it, as well as insisted that Duncan should marry Ashley. Pass the Luna title to a ‘more fitting werewolf’. Dingo only suggested that I break things off with Duncan, as there was no further reason for me to remain in the family. Nothing more than that. No thanks for helping out around the pack, no apologies for having to deal with all the pain his son had put me through, nothing else. Not even offer me a safe leave from the pack. Why, he didn’t even object to Duncan’s demand of making a slave out of me. If anything, he seemed disappointed when he told me to get a divorce with his son. Fo

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   The Cruel Truth

I paled more at this revelation. “You… what?” I breathed out, unable to process the words. “You swapped my child with Ashley’s?! How?! She wasn’t even in the pack at the time!”“Not to public knowledge,” Duncan answered. “Me and Ashley? We reunited just before meeting you. And when it was found out that you were pregnant with my child, Ashley was devastated. I had told her that I had no intention of truly loving you, as Father intended it, and made up for letting my guard down that night. For letting some loose dog get the jump on me. You have no idea how happy I was to learn that she had gotten pregnant after that. And then it hit me. I have children between two different women. One who is nothing more than a bitch, and the other the love of my life. Father wants me to marry the one who has his grandchild. Yet, no matter what I say or do, he will never agree to my marriage with Ashley. So how about the next best thing? Drop your child, and keep Ashley’s. Have Father Dearest bond with

  • Rise of the Alpha's Rejected Luna   Plan Foiled By a Dark Revelation

I returned to my room after the chat with Dingo. If one could call it that, that is. And I don’t just mean because of Duncan’s constant remarks. While I had a feeling he no longer had a good view of me, never did I think he believed in the rumors. Believed that I would be so cruel and heartless as to attempt to kill Ashley. I even tried to explain myself to him that I had nothing to do with the situation, but alas, in the end, even he actually thought I was capable of such deed.‘I should’ve known that this would happen,’ I thought, lying on the bed. ‘He never visited me for a reason. And it’s nothing that has to do with Alpha work. Pularis did say that many of Duncan’s Alpha work has been neglected as well.’ If Dingo did do any of his son’s work for him, at the very least, the Bluemoon Pack would still have their allies. For that to happen, amongst everything else, there was no way Dingo had lent a hand during the four years I was away. And now that he has made it clear of his thoug
