She glanced at the digital timer on her wrist which had the initials, C•L on it and watched the digits go up from two hundred miles an hour and almost to six hundred.
She was in a green sweater and sweatpants of the same color when she then noticed a young girl crossing the road while on a skateboard, oblivious of the impending doom as a bus was headed straight for her.
For the girl, it all happened so fast before realizing that she was already on the other side of the road but just in time to see the familiar green blur zoom past and disappear down the road.
It was Natasha, who finally ended her morning 'jog' by stopping at her home.
"Morning!" came Jenna, who appeared from the kitchen.
"Hi, Mom!" Natasha responded, moving over to the fridge and taking out a bottle of sparkling water. "I'm still getting faster!"
She showed her the timer.
"You're almost as fast as Carol!" Jenna exclaimed, handing Nat a plateful of pancakes, "so, how about you keep your glucose levels up if you want to beat her, plus I don't want you passing out on your first school day of the year."
Having had breakfast and taken a shower, Natasha was then brushing her golden brown hair which she had decided to cut short just right over her shoulders, which actually helped in stopping it from clasping whenever she was using her speed.
Looking at herself in the mirror, she turned to the left where she had pinned a drawing of her in a super suit, the drawing Lucas had made for her and branded her as 'Viper' - a name which came to catch on towards the end of Sophomore year.
Her pet snake of the same name was still around, slithering in its cage as she fed her before kissing her mom goodbye and heading off to school.
⚡
She texted Natasha, telling her to wait so they could go together and then went on to get herself ready by setting the phone down and letting the music go on.
Cassie's room was like the inside of her mind, with portraits of famous music artistes ranging from some pictures of Drake, Juice Wrld, Cardi B and even Madonna then to other big profiles like Will Smith, Tom Cruise and her very own personal favorite - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
She was clearly a pop fanatic plus a lover of all genres and always loved to speak her mind.
Her parents were also heading out and her dad had offered her a ride to school which she gently refused, arguing that there was no way a senior would be showing up at school with her parents; classic Cassie!
⚡
"You keep up like this and my job will end up leaving me for you, kid!" he joked, "you better head out now. I don't wanna be the reason you run late for school!"
⚡
Cassie turned and they were both smiling at each other, having not been together since Christmas.
"Ready to be seniors?" came Lucas who met up with them just as they approached the entrance of North Atlanta High.
"I don't feel any different though, " Natasha started when the school bus passed by them.
"Oh, I can feel a lot of change already!" blurted Cassie excitedly.
There was laughter as the three of them turned to see Daniel, the shortest kid in school, hit the ground face flat from the bus.
"What's the matter, Danny boy!" came the husky voice of Ben, responsible for having tied Daniel's laces together so that he fell when he tried to walk.
"I guess some things never change," sighed Lucas.
The year was 2029, or as Natasha and her friends would put it—senior year, with only one more year remaining to finish high school.
B A R E L Y A W E E K into Senior year, Natasha and Cassie were just walking into North Atlanta High and Natasha laughed at something her best friend had said. Something to do with her desk mate, Henry. The school bus stopped at the entrance and this time, Daniel was first to alight, making sure that his shoelaces were tied correctly. Big bully Ben was just catching up to him outside the bus, ready to grab him by his bag when the sound of a smooth running engine suddenly filled the vicinity. The whole of North Atlanta High, including Nat and Cassie, had to stop and marvel at the motor bike that rolled into the school before stopping in front of the bus. "Who is that?" gasped Cassie, mesmerized. They watched the ride

The girl had come to know more than enough about guns, among other things. Another officer, a woman, was standing near the entrance and appeared to be busy talking into her walkie-talkie that stretched from her shoulder to her mouth by a coiled flexible piece of cord. Turning from the walkie-talkie cop, she stretched a hand over her shoulder and reached for the zipper of her bag pack. She slid it down before immersing her hand inside and taking out a white thin sheet of paper. APD INTERNSHIP APPROVAL NOTE D
“B E T T E R S T A R T P A Y I N G up!” yelled Dr. Carter Hall to his counterpart, Dr.Katherine Patterson. “Oh, it’s not over, yet!” Katie snapped back. They were watching a large screen which displayed two beeping signals on what appeared to be a detailed 3-D scale of Atlanta City. The signals were represented by colors where one was pink while the other one was green. “You’re doing brilliant, Natasha. You can do it!” Katie said over the mic attached to a computer, sending her signal all the way to the teenage girl speedster who was at that moment hurtling through Atlanta. It was a race between Natasha and Carol as another part of the training they had been doing for Natasha the past six months since she unlocked her powers.

I N O N E O F the city’s largest and most lavish of private residences, came the sound of a whistling tea kettle from the kitchen that had hot wisps of steam trailing into the air after which a fairly tall middle-aged woman appeared, wearing a white dress and an apron of the same color. Her dark hair was folded back into a perm and had tiny streaks of white aligned from both sides of her temples. It was the Sinclair Manor, ranked number three of the top ten biggest manors in Atlanta, thanks to its exquisite appearance as a modernized castle with its six tall peaking towers, all of which were coated white, surrounded with a large lawn almost three-quarters the size of a football field. Back in the kitchen, the woman had taken the kettle from the electric stove and went on to pour it into a tall cream china cup that had tiny multi-colored flower petals designed all around it. "Well," her brother pondered on, "let's see. There's Neal deGrasse Tyson and..." Carmen widened her emerald eyes at him, expressing she was winning the case. “So what ?” Marcus added, shaking his head, “just because there's fewer colored people in the field of tech advanceme

The driver’s tinted window slid down and Susan Claire’s face came into view. She arched one end of her lips to give a smiling expression while noticing that the sentinel had across his chest just below his left shoulder which revealed his name as 'Julio'. Mexican? Susan was not sure as the sentinel had zero accent, overlooking that he had just addressed her as 'ma’am'. Even her own grandmother despised that word in her eighties! Her soul re
T O W A R D S T H E E V E N I N G, just a few blocks away from Natasha’s place, Lucas appeared at the entrance of his uncle Mac’s tech store of the same name. “Well,” started his uncle, “look who decided to show up.” “Late football practice,” was Lucas’s response as he set down his school bag next to a shelf packed with Life Cell batteries. “Naah! Don't mind me,” added his uncle, waving a hand in his direction, “heard you got a scholarship!” Lucas gave him a nod and noticed that he was putting on a jacket before grabbing the keys to his truck. “Closing already?” Uncle Mac grinned and Lucas went on to discover that even the hair on his balding head had been combed. “Yeah, you can hang around and close up before eight,” his uncle responded and a little bit evasive but Lucas knew where he was going.

THE ULTIMATE SPEEDVERSE . . ."It's graduation, bitches!" Carmen cried out, dressed in a purple cloak with the graduation hat over her head, obscuring her face from the sun's heat. "We're just ending a school year. I don't see what all the fuss is about," came Henry, also in his graduation attire. They were all graduating as their high school years came to an end on that fine day. "Speak for yourself!" blurted Marcus. "Hey, Cassie," Lucas spoke, taking off his hat, "where's Nat?" The end of the third year of school had finally come to a close, summing up yet another crazy twelve months, however, not all was quite done yet; as there were still some unresolved scenarios like whatever happened onwards between Marcus and Bianca ever since her birthday or whether Lucas finally told Nat how he felt about her. Well, there was still another school year left and maybe it would be enough to mend some probably broken hearts with the likes of Jasmine after her unrequited love for the quarterback... This extended even over to Carter•Labs, with the two scientists doing their best to be 'professional' and maybe it would stay that way. * The fall of 2029 fo
Towards the start of Summer, school was closing as the students began to clear out and head into the vacation when Carmen met up with Scott at the football field. "So," she began, "I guess this is it, then..." Scott's time at North Atlanta High had come to an end as his scholarship admission was nigh. "You know I'll still be around for like the whole of Summer, so...we can do anything during that time." "I can think of something..." Carmen responded softly before going on to lock lips with him. "But there's something I have to do first." ⚡
