Chapter 189: Mysterious Drug

“DRUGS? That’s ridiculous!” the woman answered, her voice was louder than before. “He’s an alcohol addict, but not on drugs. As much as I remember, he hated drugs and his son’s life was almost ruined because of that.”

“Why?” August asked, his curiosity was intensifying as the time passed by.

He didn’t know about that news, and neither it was written on the document Daphne gave him.

The old woman didn’t answer him. Instead, he gazed at August with a mix of curiosity and suspicion. “Why do you ask? And why does Mill seem to hold such a profound interest for you?”

She narrowed her eyes, her gaze not leaving August. August, on the other hand, shook his head and decided not to push himself into asking anymore, or else the old woman would raise her suspicions.

“It’s nothing. He was… a friend,” August said in a low tone, wondering why it was the alibi that came out of his mouth.

And with those final words, he bid the convenience store farewell, leaving behind an air of unresolved emotions.
