The next day, Clarice woke up early because she knew that Grandpa would also wake up early in the morning.
She found him outside the house, tending to the goats. "Good morning, Grandpa," she greeted him with a bright smile.
"Morning, dear," he replied with a nod of his head. "Why are you up early? Do you have coffee already? How about breakfast?" he asked, petting the goat in front of him.
"I already had coffee in the kitchen before coming here. Lorey is busy with breakfast preparation," she replied, lowering herself to the wooden chair under the shade of the tree.
"Do you want to ask me something?" he asked. "Say it. I'm listening."
Clarice took a deep breath. "Regarding what happened in the mall yesterday when you made Aurelia and the shaman stumble on the escalator. How did you do it? Did you use some kind of magic?" she asked curiously.
Grandpa stopped feeding the goat and looked at her. "Yeah, I have magician blood embedded in my veins. It's a gift from my mother's side. And I also have healing skills I have inherited from my father's side. But I stopped pursuing magic a few years ago because there was no need for it. What you saw yesterday was just a simple magic trick. It comes with a simple magic spell. I only know a few shabby magic tricks, but not complicated ones..." he explained.
Clarice's brows drew together. "Huh? Why did you stop honing your magic skills?" she asked, confused.
"Because I don't need it anymore. As you can see, I have no enemies and the land is peaceful after Callum united the savage rogues, so learning magic is no longer my priority. Instead, I focus on perfecting my healing abilities. The truth is, practicing magic takes all my focus and energy. It's pretty tiring. While perfecting my healing abilities, creating herbal tonics, and anti-poison medicines is much easier to do. It doesn't require much of my time and energy. In short, I prefer to be a healer than a magician," he elaborated further.
"Ah, okay. I understand now. If you don't want to learn magic, teach me instead. Can you please transfer your knowledge to me? Can you teach me how to read and memorize magic spells? I think I need it more than you do," she said in a serious tone, trying hard to convince the old man to teach her magic.
"Huh? Why would you need to learn magic? So you can take revenge on your enemies?" he asked.
"Yes. I also want to protect myself and the people I care about from danger," she added.
"But learning magic is not easy, and besides, if you don't have magic blood in your veins you can never practice magic spells. Some people are born with magic blood in their bodies. How about you? Do you have that magic blood in your body?" he asked.
Clarice shook her head sadly. "I don't know. I'm not sure. I don't even have a wolf. I'm weak. I'm pretty useless," she said dejectedly.
Grandpa Eliezer pitied Clarice. The desperation in her eyes was painful to watch. "I'm sorry. I can't help you, dear."
"I want to gain supernatural power so no one will dare poison me again, Grandpa. Please help me!" she said in a desperate tone.
Grandpa Eliezer shook his head. "Dear, there are several ways to obtain power. Like, for example, you are born with magical blood in your body. You are naturally born with the power you inherited from your parents. A powerful demon or entity can give you power. You accidentally find a powerful ancient object or medallion that could grant you supernatural power. It's just some of the many ways you can gain supernatural power," he explained.
"Can you check if I have hidden magical blood in my body that can support my desire to learn magic? Please?" she asked in a pleading tone.
"Alright, I'll check your body if you are capable of cultivating magical powers," he finally relented.
Clarice smiled happily. "Please instruct me what to do, Grandpa," she said excitedly.
"Just close your eyes while I'm checking your consciousness if you have a hidden talent for magic," he said.
Clarice nodded her head. "OK."
"I'll put my hand on your head to draw out and detect any hidden power lurking in your system. If my hand is glowing and white smoke comes out of your head, you can practice magic. If there is no reaction at all, you simply don't have what it takes to be a powerful wizard," he explained.
"OK. I understand. I'm ready now to take the test!" she said, closing her eyes, desperately hoping she has magical blood in her veins so she can finally take revenge on the people who tried to kill her.
Grandpa Eliezer placed his right hand on Clarice's head and started chanting the magic spell, drawing the power hidden within her.
After he finished chanting the spell, nothing happened. His hand was not glowing, and no white smoke was coming out of Clarice's head. To be sure, he repeated the chant five times, still no reaction at all.
Grandpa sighed. "I'm so sorry, dear. There is no reaction coming from you. Your head should release a white smoke and my hand will start to glow as a reaction to your hidden power. Sad to say, you can't practice magic. You are not born to cultivate supernatural power unless someone willingly gives you a powerful object that will become the source of your power."
Disappointed, Clarice finally opened her eyes and gazed at Grandpa sorrowfully. "This is truly disheartening for me," she said in despair. "How I wish I had power hidden within me. Too bad, no such luck," she said, misty-eyed. "Where can I find a powerful object, Grandpa?" she asked.
Grandpa Eliezer sighed heavily. "Dear, stop wanting to be a powerful person. Instead, focus your time and attention on your son when he finally arrives. Be a good mother to him. Stop thinking about revenge. As long you are finally reunited with your son, consider that as your blessing, your good fortune."
Clarice fell silent. Grandpa was quick to remind her of her responsibility as a mother to her son. He was right. She should listen to him and forget about magic and revenge. She took a deep breath and said, "You are right, Grandpa. I should focus on my son."
Grandpa Eliezer smiled. "That's what you should do, dear. Focus on the things that really matter to you. At this point in your life, revenge can't give you peace of mind. You survived death once. You have been given the gift of life. Don't take it for granted. Maybe the Moon Goddess wants you to live a peaceful life with your loved ones. She doesn't want you to take revenge on your enemies to protect and prolong your life. Just leave things as they are. Leave revenge to the Moon Goddess. She knows how to punish bad people. Your duty is to treasure your second chance at life. Put your blessings to good use."
Clarice smiled brightly. "Thank you for your words of wisdom, Grandpa. My mind is now at peace."
"Good." Grandpa smiled and continued feeding the goats fresh grass.
Clarice still can't forget magic. "Um, Grandpa, is it true that there is a magical book filled with magic spells for people of your kind to study, read and practice?" she asked curiously.
"Yeah, such books exist. I have that kind of book in my possession," he replied casually.
"Can I see it? Can I take a look at it? Please?" she begged for a chance to see a magical book.
"Sure," he said and opened his palm. A worn-looking brown booklet magically materialized in his palm. He put the booklet in her hands. "If you can read magic spells, maybe you still have a chance to learn magic," he said. "However, if you don't have magical blood in your body, you will get a headache trying to read the words," he added.
Clarice flipped through the pages, attempting to read the words, but she couldn't make sense of the ancient writing no matter how hard she tried. The more she tries to understand them, the more they appear blurry to her eyes.
A few moments later, her head began to ache painfully. She finally closed the booklet and returned it to the owner. "Ugh! I can't read the words. It's very hard to read and understand them," she said in a wretched tone, disappointed with the result, finally admitting to herself that she was not fit to acquire supernatural powers.
Tears of defeat shimmered in her eyes. "I give up," she said sorrowfully, watching as the booklet suddenly disappeared from Grandpa's palm. "That's magic!" she gushed.
Grandpa Eliezer smiled. "Yes, it is."
Clarice felt terribly sad. In the past, being the Luna of the Bloodhound Pack made her a powerful woman, respected and admired by many. But that power was gone forcefully, taken away from her by evil people.
Life is indeed full of surprises. Status in life can change at any moment.
Lorey walked to the clearing and announced, "Breakfast is ready!"
Clarice stood up. "Grandpa, let's have breakfast."
"Okie Dokie," Grandpa Eliezer replied, and followed the girls back to the farm house.
They entered the house and ate their delicious meals at the dining table. Afterward, they performed their daily chores around the farm.
For the rest of the afternoon, Clarice was busy sorting the groceries she had to bring for their journey. She can't wait to start traveling. She misses her son so much. She's looking forward to being reunited with him.
That afternoon, Clarice was bored inside the room so she went outside, settled on the chair under the shade of the tree, enjoying the gentle breeze while reading a book.Lorey was doing laundry at the back of the house while Grandpa Eliezer was taking a nap in his room. She closed her eyes for a moment, enjoying the peaceful surroundings, serenaded by the sounds of birds chirping in the branches of the trees. When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by the sight of her beloved, standing before her, holding a restaurant take-out bag, smiling at her."How's your afternoon, babe?" he asked, settling on the wooden bench beside her and planting a kiss on her forehead lovingly. She smiled. "Great so far.""I bought your favorite apple pie with cheddar and soda for your afternoon snack," he said, handing the present to her."Wow, delicious!" She smiled happily, looking into the restaurant's take-out bag. "Thank you so much, babe," she said, planting a kiss on his cheeks affectionately."How
The day had finally come for Luna Viviana to fly to Australia. She was mentally and emotionally ready for her first trip outside the country without her husband by her side. She sat on the bed, checking her bags, not wanting to miss anything, especially her passport and other important travel documents. She can't enter Australia without them. Her bags were already taken by the servants and already loaded into the trunk of her husband's car. She felt happier nowadays because her husband had been giving her enough attention in bed and outside the bedroom as well.He became attentive to her needs and affectionate, making her happy and satisfied. So far, their marriage life has turned peaceful again just the way she likes it. Although sometimes he became absent-minded and zoned out as if something was bothering his mind and if she asked him why, he would say nothing. She knew that her husband was busy with the landslide currently going on in the villages, and he was hands-on with helping
The couple landed in a clearing near the lake."Oh, why are we here?" Clarice asked, surprised, looking at the calm dark water of the lake in front of them. "Are we going for a night swim?"Alpha Callum grinned. "No. We are here for some loving," he whispered naughtily. "We shall start working on child #2," he answered.Clarice giggled. "You are so horny and naughty!" she exclaimed in amusement."Wait here for a second. I'm going to my house to get the tent, blanket and pillows. We will spend the night here," he said."Okay, hurry up. If you keep me waiting for so long, I'll return to the farm house," she jokingly said."Promised, I'll be back before you get tired of waiting," he said, and initiated teleportation in his mind.Alpha Callum disappeared from the area before Clarice could even utter a reply.Clarice walked to the edge of the bank and looked at the pristine lake. The water looked calm and magical. She looked heavenward. The stars and full moon in the sky cast a warm glow a
The following day, after breakfast, Alpha Callum and Clarice chatted with Grandpa Eliezer."Guys, enjoy the trip and get back home soon. I'm excited about meeting Caden, my great-grandson," Grandpa Eliezer said enthusiastically."We will definitely return quickly, Pops," Alpha Callum replied. "We will quickly return here even before we arrive there," he joked.Amused, Clarice laughed, pinching his arm."Kidding aside, guys, have you already packed everything?" Grandpa Eliezer asked, chuckling."Yep. I finished packing a few days ago, Grandpa. We are ready to go," Clarice responded cheerfully."Alright then, good luck on your trip, and enjoy your journey," Grandpa Eliezer said."Thanks, Pops." Alpha Callum smiled.Clarice said, "I'm going upstairs to put everything in my shoulder bag," she said, and climbed the stairs back to her room on the second floor. As soon as Clarice was out of earshot, Grandpa Eliezer asked, "Son, how is your wife there in Australia?""She has already arrived i
Noon came, the couple pulled over at the restaurant along the road and had lunch there. After half an hour of resting, they continued their journey, wanting to arrive at their location before evening came.Despite driving a little bit too fast on the open highway, they arrived at Lashpar Village at 5:30 in the afternoon. They parked the car in a clearing on the outskirts of the village. There are about ten wooden houses nearby."Where is Marina's house?" Alpha Callum asked, eyeing the dilapidated house a few meters away from where they parked their car."It's the wooden house under that white oak tree," Clarice pointed at the house in badly need of repairs. Her brows furrowed. Wait a minute, the last time she came here, the house didn't look like that. What's going on?"Why are the houses here looking like they have been abandoned for a long time?" Alpha Callum asked in bewilderment. "Are you sure that is Marina's house?" he asked in disbelief."Yup. I'm sure. I've been here several t
A woman came down from the wooden staircase and looked at the visitors. "What can I do for you sir?" she asked, looking at the unconscious woman in his arms. "What happened to her?" she inquired."My wife suddenly passed out," Alpha Callum replied."Oh, let's bring her upstairs to my house, so I can help you revive her," the woman offered kindly."Is it alright?" Alpha Callum asked. He doesn't want to impose himself on the owner of the house."Yes, please. My house is always open to anyone who needs my help," the woman said kindly."Thank you," Alpha Callum lifted Clarice's unconscious body and carried her upstairs to the living room of the wooden house."Bring her to my room, sir, and put her on the bed," the woman ordered.Alpha Callum obeyed and gently lowered Clarice's body onto the wooden bed."Why did she pass out?" the woman started asking questions. "You guys are not from here, right?" she asked."Yes. We came from the city. We are here to visit our son and bring him back to t
Alpha Callum pondered Clarice's question for a few seconds. "We will take him to the farm. I think Pops can heal him fast," he said confidently."Yeah, I think so," Clarice agreed."Let's go there now," Alpha Callum said."But the journey is quite long," she protested worriedly, deeply concerned about her son's weak condition. Caden's body was getting hotter in her arms.Alpha Callum smiled. "You forgot that I can teleport you back to the farm house in just a few minutes," he reminded her."Ah, I almost forgot about it. What are we waiting for? Let's do it now!" she said urgently."Wait a minute, I will park the car on the side of the road before we teleport back to the farm house," he said, carefully maneuvering the car into the small clearing beside the road."Why didn't you teleport us to Lashpar Village? Why go through the hassle of a long journey?" she asked."Because my teleportation skill has limits, babe. I can't teleport to a place I have never been before, that's why," he sa
Clarice went upstairs and grabbed a chair, put it near Granpa Eliezer's room and sat on it. She won't be sleeping tonight, she will wait until her son wakes up. She wants to make sure he is okay. She went back to her room, grabbed a book and returned to her spot outside Grandpa's room and started reading the book. She was reading chapter 50 when Lorey exited the room. "Luna, good news. Your son is already awake!" she said happily.Clarice dropped the book on the chair and rushed inside the room. She found Grandpa Eliezer talking to her son."Your mommy is here, son. Don't cry anymore," Grandpa Eliezer said gently, standing up to give way to the mother.Caden looked at his mother. His eyes widened in surprise at seeing her. "Mommyyyyy!"Clarice burst into tears. Tears of happiness rolled down her face. "Baby, you're finally awake! I'm so happy right now," she said in elation, hugging her son tightly, showering his face with kisses."Mom, where are Aunt Marina and Uncle?" Caden asked, c
She was transported back in time when she was alone sitting on the sun lounger, enjoying the lovely night, waiting for her husband to arrive with their coffee. Then came the stranger, intentionally dropping his wallet on the floor and her nightmare began...Clarice felt her heart beat frantically when she realized that the stranger was no other than Kaspar. He took her off guard, froze her and lifted her body, throwing her into the water without mercy. When she hit the water she thought she would die. She can't do anything to help herself. She screamed, trying to ask for help, but no sound came out of her mouth. She felt her body falling deeper into the water, but to her surprise she resurfaced in the water again and, out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the cruise ship sailing away without her.Nobody saw her when she fell into the water. No one could help her, even her husband.Horrified by her hopeless situation, she will die alone in the freezing water. Her dead body will be eat
A thousand miles away on a secluded island far from the city and towns, Clarice was wide awake, sitting on her bed in total darkness. She trembled in fear when the door opened. The light coming from outside flooded the dark room. There she is...Demetria, the bloodthirsty vampire, enters the room to feed on her blood again.Clarice trembled in fear. This vampire will feed on her blood again and again, leaving her fearing for her life. She fears that one day she will die and never be able to escape this room alive because this vampire will drain her body dry.Although Demetria saved her from drowning in the dark ocean, she was also feeding on her blood thrice a week.Demetria snapped her hand and light flooded the room. "How are you today, dear?" she asked, coming closer."Please let me go home. My husband and my son are worried about me. They think I have died. Please set me free," Clarice begged desperately, tears flooding her eyes."Dear, I just want to let you know that your husban
Two months later...The distraught Alpha Callum arrives at his Grandpa's farm, broken hearted."Gramps, I don't know if I still continue searching for Clarice in the ocean. We still can't find her no matter how hard we try," he said miserably."I know, son, it's very tough on your part. I wish I could help you. I'm also sad and devastated by Clarice's disappearance. You have already run a missing person ad in every major newspaper in the whole country but no one has found Clarice's body yet. The worst thing I can think of is the reason why we can't find her body is because some sharks found her first and we both know what it means." Grandpa Eliezer said sadly, patting his grandson's shoulder to comfort him.Alpha Callum wept quietly. "I don't know if she's already dead or alive. If she drowns, I just want to find her body and give her a proper burial. Is that so much to ask?" he asked dejectedly.Grandpa Eliezer sighed heavily. Watching the misery in his grandson's eyes filled his hea
Kaspar finished his one-week-long holiday on the cruise ship, making sure that Clarice is already buried in the deep ocean with no chance of coming back to the land of the living. He watched in satisfaction as Alpha Callum desperately searched every room and cabin to find his beloved wife. But he failed to find her.Kaspar was lucky that heaven favored him because the CCTV camera in the couple's favorite spot malfunctioned on the same day he succeeded in completing his evil plan.Since no evidence can point to him as the culprit of Clarice's disappearance, he enjoyed his remaining days on the cruise ship, unbothered.Aurelia and Viviana were ecstatic after he informed them that Clarice was finally gone and would never come back again. He told them that Clarice drowned in the deep ocean and her body had probably been eaten already by sharks and other dangerous animals inhabiting the deep blue sea.Carrying his travel luggage, he left the ship in high spirits, happy with his accomplishm
Alpha Callum arrives at an empty farm house. No one was around, so he put his bags in the corner and settled on the sofa, waiting for his grandfather to arrive. While waiting, he re-imagined what happened to his holiday vacation with his wife on the cruise ship.No matter what others said, he didn't believe Clarice had jumped into the ocean willingly. Someone had thrown her into the water. His wife was happy with him. She would never resort to suicide because they were blessed with a loving and peaceful marriage and had a son together. After searching the ship from top to bottom, he finally gave up on his suspicion that Clarice had caught a serial killer's attention and was abducted on board.Clarice definitely fell in the water because there was no way she could vanish from the cruise ship without leaving any trace behind. He was in deep thoughts when the door opened and Grandpa Eliezer entered the house. He was surprised to see Alpha Callum in his house looking distraught. He knew i
He couldn't stand the tense silence anymore. The agony of losing his wife was creating havoc in his system, making him desperate. It's either Clarice fell into the water or she was held captive by someone and held in their cabins. He needed to know what truly happened to her, or he would go crazy. He left the room and went to find the captain of the cruise ship."I want to find my wife. I want to know if there is a killer on the loose boarding this ship, or if she has fallen into the sea. I want clear answers!" he demanded angrily. The captain fell silent for a moment, then spoke, "What do you want to do, sir?""I want to search every single room on this ship to make sure no one is keeping my wife in his or her room. That's the only way I can be assured that she was not taken advantage of and not imprisoned in someone's room and held against her will," he said accusingly. The captain scratched his head in dismay. "Um, I have to warn you, sir. Not everyone will allow their rooms to be
Days passed by quickly. On the fourth day of the couple's wedding anniversary, they had a romantic candle-lit dinner inside their suite and made love all night long.On the 5th day, the couple spends their time in the pool area of the cruise ship and enjoys the jacuzzi along with other couples. They watched skaters on the skating rink for one hour. They also tried bumper cars, bikes high above the ship, and skydiving simulators. Then they proceeded to try a roller coaster ride, took the plunge and loved the adrenaline-pumping, exhilarating experience. They were having so much fun.The couple also went to watch a show in the theater. That night, the couple watched movies in their room and after finishing watching the movies, they left their suite and went to their favorite spot to enjoy the lovely night. They settled comfortably in the sun lounger and admired the star-filled sky."I want to drink chocolate coffee," Clarice said.Alpha Callum stood up. "Alright, let's go and buy coffee.
In his room on the second deck of the cruise ship, Kaspar put blue eye contact lenses in his eyes. Next, he picked up the black curly wig and placed it securely on his head. After a few minutes of fixing his appearance in the mirror, he was finally satisfied.Even if he bumps into the couple, they can't easily recognize him because his disguise looks authentic. As long as he doesn't talk to them face to face, his charade won't be discovered. Clarice may remember his original voice, but if they accidentally bump into each other with no choice, he will just use a fake voice to talk to her.For now, he would just follow the couple around at a safe distance. He doesn't want them to notice that he is following their every movement. He preferred to throw Clarice into the sea if he spotted her alone without her husband around.Putting poison in her food would be difficult because that would need perfect execution and her husband was always around to complicate things, and he had no weapon th
Days pass quickly. The day has finally come for the couple to embark on their one-week cruise ship holiday. The couple bid goodbye to their son Caden, Beta Amir and Lorey."We will bring you along next time, son," Alpha Callum said, planting a kiss on his son's head, ruffling his hair affectionately.Clarice hugged her son tightly, kissing his cheeks lovingly. "I'm going to miss you baby. I love you so much. See you soon!" she said teary-eyed."I love you Mommy and Daddy. Enjoy sailing on the ship," Caden replied, smiling brightly.Alpha Callum gives last minute instructions to his assistant, Beta Amir. "If something comes up, call me right away or send me a message on my email. Alternately, seek Grandpa's help. Do you understand?" he said.Beta Amir nodded his head. "Copy, Alpha. Rest assured I will take care of everything while you are away. You and your wife deserve a fabulous break away from home. Enjoy sailing on a ship."After the couple finished saying their goodbyes, they boar
