Chapter 372 A Kiss on the Stairs

Melody was actually patiently feeding Leroy while talking about her thoughts on food. "The restaurant has had that fish soup on their menu for decades. I loved it as a child—try it."

Leroy had a sip—it was fresh and sweet without any fishy scent to it.

However, his gaze turned bitter in reminiscence. "My mom loved fish soup, but we were so broke it took us months to save enough and afford fish. And she'd never have it herself and saved everything for me, while she only drank the soup with bread. I can afford fish now, but she's gone."

His mother's passing was the most painful regret of his life and left his chest hurting.

Realizing his disgraceful state just then, he muttered, "I'm sorry, Mel. I shouldn't bother you with that rubbish…"

Melody sighed. "It's not bothersome. Don't worry."

Why would she find it bothersome? She had lost her mother too and could therefore empathize—the pain of losing a loved one never fades.
